Problems with tethered capture and the 4.2 update

I'm having problems with tethered capture and my canon 1ds mark III since I updated to 4.2. Is anybody else having issues with tethered capture that was working fine before the update?

Lr4 re-occuring bug with Tethered Capture bar disappearing

In Lr4 64bit Win7 re-occuring bug with Tethered Capture Bar disappearing after deleting a picture in library. The only way to get it back is to Stop and Start Tethered Capture. Is there a fix for this?

Help with Editing Raw in Lightroom 3.6

Hello everyone!
I am new to the forum and also to using lightroom. I just need some help with editing my RAW files. I shoot in RAW + JPEG and I just imported the files to lightroom. It didn't show me the jpeg files for importing so I only imported the RAW files, which I needed. After editing, I realised it said CR2+JPEG. Which means that both files were imported but combied into a single one. Now I basically want to edit my RAW files only. Does that mean I have edited a jpeg or a mixture of both files? How to edit only the RAW file?
If my picture says CR2+JPEG, does that mean it isnt a pure RAW file and the editing would affect the image quality?
I will really appreciate some help!

It imported both, but only shows you the raw file. Ever. What you see and what you edit will only be the raw file. The associated JPG file will follow the raw file around if you move it or rename it using Lightroom, but other than that, Lightroom will ignore it. You could safely delete the JPG, and Lightroom wouldn't complain--probably wouldn't even notice.
There's a preference you can set that will cause JPGs to be imported as separate images. Then you'd be able to see both of them and edit them separately. That preference won't take effect on images that are already in the catalogue, but will affect all future imports.

Help with placing photos in Lightroom 4.2

I am making my first book in the Book module and I'm not finding it as flexible as I expected. I'm slowly figuring out some answers to the questions that have arisen, but I'd like some help with the following.
1. Can I add a small photo to the last page above the logo?
2. Can I put a border around a photo on the front, like a frame? Or do I have to prepare a jpg in Photoshop Elements with the frame and my photo?
3. Can I move or resize those yellow-bordered placement boxes, or make a custom layout if none of the layouts are exactly what I want?
Answeres to these questions will take a lot of frustration out of the process. :-)

Online help with Batch Capture

I'm trying to online a sequence in a tapeless workflow. I'm using Log & Transfer along with Batch Capture but Batch Capture keeps looking for a deck. How do I get it to look for my Hi-Res digital files?

Yeah...that's the problem.
You directly imported it and worked with it natively? What is this footage? From what camera?
The only way to offline/online with tapeless is to bring in the footage via Log and Transfer. Log and Transfer to ProRes Proxy...then you can Batch Capture to a higher data rate ProRes format.

Help with large import to Lightroom

I beg your pardon. You are absolutely right (as, I am sure you had no doubt). I was clicking choose instead of import all photos in selected folders; as a matter of fact until I just read you response I had not ever seen the option of "import all photos in selected folders". Again so sorry to have indicated your solution was wrong. It amazes me that I have spent hours on the phone with Adobe LR tech support and they continued to read from their scripts that I needed to import each folder individually. You have saved me many hours and stiff shoulder muscles. I now know where to come for help. Have a great evening. Thanks so much.

Help with Resetting Preferences in Lightroom

I have a new iMac OS-X 10.8 .. I am having trouble with the Adjustment Brush [basically the sliders are not functioning correctly].     I have previously fixed the problem by resetting the Preferences, that is "deleting" the com.adobelightroom.plist file, then restarting Lightroom.       However I've gone to Library, Preferences on the new iMac and I can't see any .plist file for Adobe Lightroom 3 or Adobe Photoshop CS.5.
I also have Lightroom 4 loaded on the same computer but can't even see any com.Adobe ... .plist files for that either???
Am I looking in the wrong place ..
HELP!!       I might add that this Adjustment Brush problem seems to reoccur regularly????

You may need to unhide some folders so that you can see Library under your User Name. https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4176215?start=0&tstart=0 then you should be able to navigate to it.

Help with error message opening lightroom 5 on macbook?

I downloaded lightroom 5 on my macbook. i have os-lion. When I open the program and error message appears saying " error switching modules". I am missing all the options to import photos. When I try to click on lightroom preferences at the top of the screen nothing pops up. It seems like i am missing some of the options and the navigation pane. Do i need to update something else to be able to import photos and click between module pages?

It appears the error message you have is an ink system failure error message. While it looks like your printer needs to be services there is also a thread with some suggestions out there with some results for this same issue. I have linked this thread this post. You will want to look at message 16 and 17 for what seems to be a resolution for your same printer. Hope this helps.

Please Help With Academic Proof for Lightroom!

I got the version of Lightroom that you download, and I need to provide academic proof. When I go to the "My Orders" page, I click on the "Submit Proof" thing like I am supposed to, but then nothing happens. It doesn't bring me to a new page or anything. It just sits there and when I scroll over "Submit Proof" the box that popped up before is sitting there with a loading circle inside of it. No matter how long I leave it there it doesn't do anything. Please help me!

I need help with TV Capture Card program

Hello,
I want to create a JAVA program so I can schedule that the recording with my TV Capture Card begins in x seconds.
Now to start a recording, you must press Ctrl+M and to stop an recording you must click the mouse.
How can I realise that a Java application can "press" Ctrl+M. I have to create an timer, that must be do-able... but I don't know how the program can simulate the pressing of Ctrl+M. I also need to know how the Java program can do a mouse click for me to end the recording.

HELP with HD Capture & PPElements 7

I'm trying to help a brand new Premiere Elements 7 user with a project but while I am quite familiar with PPro CS3, Elements is obviously a different critter altogether.
She's a wedding photographer who wants to mix in some video with her stills to create a DVD. Basically she set up a Canon HD cam at one point and let it run throughout the ceremony. No start/stop/pause, so no scenes per se.
Our of the whole 45 minutes captured, there's only a few minutes here and there she wants to use. Easy enough w/ PPro, but I'm at a loss to figure out the best workflow for Elements.
I did find one statement here which confirms what I'd expect:

Ok, but then is the only alternative to find the in and out points of clips she wants to capture then capture all manually??

Well you can view the capture on the LCD screen on the camcorder and start and stop capture as appropriate. Otherwise capture the complete tape and then cut out the bits not required.

NEED HELP WITH AUDIO CAPTURE PROBLEM

I've been filming for the past 2 weeks on a MiniDV camcorder. Heres the problem, I didn't check the audio bit rate before I started filming. Instead of the normal 16 bit, I used 12 bit. Now when I try to Capture the footage, the audio is out of sync and final cut says something along the lines of "The sample bit rate is different than the source. Change the settings to match the source."
I tried to go into the settings menu and change the bit rate to 12 bit, however I was not successful. Can someone please help me with this situation? Thanks for looking. Hope we can figure out a solution.

Thanks for replying Les. I tinkered with some stuff and it is still not working. I thought I was able to change the "Capture Preset" to 32kHz, instead I was only able to change the "Sequence Preset". The Capture Preset is still set at 48kHz and I have no idea how to change it. Hope you might know what to do. Thanks again for the help.

do i need a specific hard drive or it'll work on 7200rpm
and do i need a specific card for not loosing quality if i wanna work full HDV or firewire is ok

You're asking about HDV, which is an MPEG2 compressed format. It has about the same bandwidth as DV NTSC. Its 1080i version is about 3.6 MB/sec.
That measn it will run fime on a single 7200rpm hard drive. AS with any media files, you should install a second SATA drive inside your G5 for all your media files.
Now if you want to do full uncompressed 1080i HD, that runs at ,say, 140 MB/sec, and you do need a special capture card for that, like a Kona card from Aja or a DecklinkHD card from Blackmagic Design, and a very fast external drive array as well.
