Help with the DvD Ram driver for Satelite P10

On my notebook (Sattelite p10) is Windows 2000 Professinal running, but the DVD Ram driver from the Toshiba Homepage does not work...
Where I can get a driver which is working on my notebook?

Hi Val,
The correct driver for your notebook running Wnidows 2000 should be version 3.0.8.0 and is available for download from the Toshiba website.
I presume that this is the one which you have tried, so I am not sure what you mean when you say that 'it doesn't work'.

  • Replacing the zip drive with the dvd-ram

I've replaced the built in DVD-RAM with DVD burner.
I have a zip drive too. Can I to replace the zip drive with the DVD-RAM?
    Thanks

    Hi, mikmik -
Unless your G4 is a G4 MDD model, doing that is not easy at all.
The bay for the Zip drive on all G4's earlier than an MDD model is considerably smaller than a standard drive bay, which is what an optical drive needs.
Open your case and take a look at the relative sizes of the upper optical drive bay and the lower Zip drive bay.
In order to put replace the Zip drive with an optical drive you would need to do a fair amount of surgery on the frame. It has been done; here's a pictorial step-by-step by one fellow who did that to a B&W G3 -

The work needed on a G4 would be very similar to that.

  • Result Sets with the Microsoft ODBC Driver for Oracle

    Howdy all.
I have an Oracle database that I have migrated from MSSQL2K. My front end is mostly VB, and I have many (hundreds) DLL's that use ADO to access the database and execute stored procedures in the database. I cannot seem to get result sets from the Oracle procedures. I have tried passing a SYS_REFCURSOR as an IN OUT parameter, and I have tried returning a SYS_REFCURSOR in a function. The Microsoft ODBC Driver for Oracle does not seem to handle the ref cursors. If I use the Oracle ODBC driver, then ref cursors are handled sort of magically. Just like the result sets are in MSSQL with the SQL Server ODBC Driver.
The question that I would like to pose to anybody willing to answer is this: Is there any way to use the Microsoft ODBC Driver for Oracle without changing the way I do the database access (using ADO connection/command/recordset objects)? I need the same DLL's to work on top of both MSSQL and Oracle.
I know that what I want to do is possible using the Oracle ODBC driver, but this will take some major changes to some of my DB components. I am trying to stay away from this, but it looks like I am going to have to go that route - that is unless somebody wows me with a good answer to this post.

As you are using Microsoft driver which works in XP and does not on Win 2003 you should post this on microsoft forum.

  • Need help with the T400 audio driver.

I recently purchased a refurbished T400 (type 6475-GS6) at a great price.  I've installed XP 64, downloaded then installed all, or what I thought was everything from the Lenovo web site.
But for the life of me, I can't install the Conexant audio driver because the device driver installation wizard can't find the device for the driver.
    Does anyone have a suggestion?
Thanks in advance for your time and help.

  • Help With Multimedia Audio Controller Driver For XP Pro

    Hello,
    Please help!!!
I am trying to locate the Multimedia Audio Controller Driver for XP Pro for an MSI 645 ULTRA (A6547MS) Motherboard.  The audio device is integrated into the motherboard and Windows XP Pro is not recognizing the device.
I have tried looking at MSI Support Website but am unable to identify which is the correct driver package to use.
I would also like to know if there are any related WinXP Supplement driver package needed for this motherboard.

Did you do a clean installation of XP or you only use the upgrade function?
I recommend you to do clean installation if you didn't.

  • Dvd-ram driver loss

Lost the DVD-RAM driver for Mat**bleep**a UJ-812.  As such, the T42p does not address the D drive.  Help!

@danieltc: you could try the "old-fashioned way": remove/uninstall the ATA/SATA controller from the device manager and then let windows search and install (again) the driver for your controller and for the drives (on that controller), including the driver for your optical drive
this should give windows a "refresh" (which is needed sometimes, especially when you upgraded windows -and not clean installed it-)

  • Disk caddy needed for DVD RAM drive.

Where can I find a disk caddy for the DVD RAM drive in the Power Mac G4 I just got? I have looked on the Internet for accessories but it doesn't appear to be something that is available any more.
The computer was dropped off where I teach and I'm trying to refurbish it so it will be useful but I cannot even install OS X as the drive needs a caddy.
I was even going to replace the drive itself with a normal drive that has a drawer but all I have readily available are CD-ROM drives.

    Hey Spock,
Thanks for the star. I checked out one of those DVD-RAMs and they're very cool looking as far as the disk is concerned:

If you want one to play with I'd be glad to send it to you. I have two.
Hey it's 5.2 GB. For the time that was huge. It's a lesson of the history of technology that what is currently huge will be a joke tomorrow. Hey look at the history of floppies here:

I remember the first computer I saw was a gigantic wall of triodes (look it up) thirty feet long.
There was so much heat you couldn't get within 20 feet of it. The tech who serviced it (replaced the tubes when they blew out, every few minutes) said:
"16K of random access memory. It'll do square roots!"

  • T60 HDD res. partition, USB ports and DVD-RAM drive no longer recognizing data/media!

I have a base installation of the IBM T60.. I made no modifications to the setup or configuration of how the HDD is structured nor have I downloaded and installed any strange drivers... only automatically downloaded drivers from Microsoft update and manually downloaded driver updates from the Lenovo website.
One day everything was working fine.  Next day, my USB devices, reserved partition (can't remember what this is called) and the DVD-RAM drive stopped working but power was still getting to these devices.
My DVD-RAM drive is seen as a DVD-RAM on first bootup.  When I insert a CD or DVD media in the drive, the Explorer tree changes DVD-RAM to CD-ROM in the Explorer (really strange).  It behaves like there is no media in the drive.  Cannot boot with that drive either.
In addition, I have external USB HDD and Flash drives as well.  None of them work on this T60 anymore.
When I plug in an external USB HDD or Flash drive, I get "not formatted" error message and a prompt to format my drives?!
I tested these USB external drives on a desktop machine and verified that they are working 100% fine.  So the problem has something to do with my IBM/Lenovo T60.
It almost seems like something broke on the motherboard perhaps?  I downloaded and installed the latest BIOS updates as well to no avail.  Please help.  Thanks in advance for your time and consideration of this issue.

  • Tecra M7 DVD: CD/DVD RAM drive does not work since installing Vista

I did a clean installation on my Vista Ready new M7. It had XP tablet to begin with and the DVD drive worked fine. Indeed I used it to install Vista (Home Premium).
Now it does not work at all. It spins but does not read. Device Manager tells me device cannot start. Tried to update driver and it told me that it has the most uptodate driver.
Downloaded all the drivers from Tosh download centre for Vista upgrade of M7 (which got bluetooth, screen rotation etc to work fine). But none of the downloads seemed to be a driver for the DVD-Ram drive. Can not find a driver anywhere else (including Panasonic site).
    DVD drive is Mat****a DVD-RAM UJ-841s
    Any suggestions?

    Hi
On the Toshiba driver page you can find the DLA for Tecra m7.
Did you try to install the XP DVD-RAM driver from the Toshiba page on the Vista OS?
    Maybe it will works
But listen the CD/DVD drive uses the common Microsoft drivers which are included into Vista or XP.
Therefore an additional driver should be not needed!
    One additional proposal;
Remove the CD/DVD drive from the device manager and reboot the notebook.
After new reboot the OS should install the drive again and should renew the software.
    Other hint:
    - Start the registry
    - Choose the registry key;
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
    - In the right pane, right-click UpperFilters and LowerFilters then click Delete.
    - and restart the notebook

  • Using the DVD-Rom drive renders MBP almost useless

Under Windows XP Pro on my 2.2 MBP, while accessing the DVD-Rom drive for anything (browsing directories, installing something, playing/burning a DVD or ripping a CD) the computer cannot playback audio. It comes out so skippy and jumpy that you cannot recognise speech. It slows down typing input, mouse movement, and makes video playback skippy. It also hangs up my soundcard (M-Audio Firewire 410), and I have to restart the computer to get sound to work again. I have installed the Bootcamp 2.0 drivers from the Leopard disc.
Does anyone else have this problem, and have you found any way to fix it? Thank you.

    Anyone?

No. You have no alternative but to plug it into a computer running iTunes and restore it.

  • Help! My T61 suddenly no longer recognizes my DVD-RAM drive!

Today I tried to retrieve some photos from a DVD and then a CD placed into my T61s DVD RAM (Mat**bleep**a UJ-852 ATA) ... and the drive was not recognized by the system.  It was not displayed in the "My Computer" listing.  The drive powered up whenever I insert a disk, but nothing else happened.
    The device properties box says:
"This device cannot start. (Code 10)
"Click 'Check for solutions' to send data about this device to Microsoft and to see if there is a solution available."
But when I check, the system replies came back that the proper driver was already installed ... and that there was nothing else out there that was a "solution".
What can solve this sudden problem?
    Many thanks,

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Thanks!  A variation of the latter seems to have worked and restored the DVD-RAM to proper working order:
    1) Disable drive
    2) Uninstall drive
    3) Remove drive
    4) Shutdown
    5) Restart
    6) Insert drive ... system recognized the drive, loaded the drivers and operation has been normal.
Thanks for the tip. (I had disabled and removed/inserted it before, with no success.  But until reading your note, I did not have a shutdown/restart in between.)

  • DVD-RAM drive from G4 AGP in the MacPro?

Just bought a new MacPro. I would like to move my DVD-RAM drive from my trusty old Sawtooth to the MacPro. I have a lot of old Type I cartridges with archived data on them that I would like to keep using, but on the new machine, since my husband is wanting me to give him the G4. The DVD_RAM Type1 cartridges are like "monster" ZIP disks and really convenient and dependable for backups.
An Apple Tech Support rep said it would "probably" work on the MacPro, but that I should post the question on the Forums as well, to see what others had to say. Any takers?
Also, if there is a new drive I could purchase that would accommodate the Type I cartridges and technology, I'd be interested in that information. I did research on these kinds of drives for my G4 some months ago, but found it hard to determine if there was a new "Superdrive" style drive with this capability.

I had to look up PATA and found info at http://www.directron.com/patasata.html to be very informative.
I know that my hard drives use a connector that looks like the parallel connectors in these photos. I'm not sure about the optical drives, because I've never had a reason to take them out or change them until now. I'll have to look inside and see.
They do talk in this article about the bulk of PATA connectors being more significant than the new serial ATA connectors. Considering the comments shared by "the hatter" that could be a problem. I'll check this out in the next couple of days and see is any hindrances regarding space come to light.
I'd still like to know if there is a new optical drive out there somewhere that could provide a DVD-RAM (Type I cartridge and newer formats) option for the MacPro. I hope someone can share some knowledge about that.
Thanks for your comments Ned and hatter.

  • Equium L10 needs a driver for DVD-RAM drive

It's rather embarrassing, but in recent days I've come to find that somehow, the driver for my DVD RAM (Mat****a UJ830s) is somehow corrupt or missing.
I've searched high and low over the net to find the right driver to reinstall, but I can't find a single thing.
    Don't suppose anyone can help?

Do you mean the simply common driver for the Mat****a UJ830s?
Usually the windows use the common Microsoft OS driver and usually you will not find an Toshiba driver for this device.
Ok, on the page you will find an DVD-RAM but its only for the reading and writing of the DVD-RAM medias.
Caution when using DVD-RAM disks in the DVD MULTI drive Data cannot be written onto a DVD-RAM disk while the function for writing data onto Windows XP standard CD-R/RW disks is enabled.
A message appears when this function has been enabled so when using a DVD-RAM disk, heed the instruction given in this message by clearing "Enable CD recording on this drive.

I went to my local Apple store last weekend with a similar issue on my 2007 C2D MBP and they quoted me a price of around £60 (excluding VAT) to replace the optical drive. That's about the same price as the external optical drive a bought for my RMBP.
Alternatively you could just buy a 3rd party external drive if you want to save cash but note that the external Apple superdrive is not compatible with MacBooks with built in optical drives.
