Help with times please
I basically want to know if this is normal or not, some real short videos are taking forever to export. For example, I have a sony HD SR-12 recording in HD format, and I had two clips in a final cut sequence that I put together, totaling about 7 minutes. I then try to export using compressor and choose the premade apple device option H.264 for ipod video and iphone 640x480 and it is taking over 2 hours it says.
This seems real long, is this normal?
The time estimates given by Compressor can be quite inaccurate, I've seen some jobs that start out saying several hours and then they finish in less than half that time (however, sometimes the opposite it true and it takes longer than the estimate). In any case, if these presets are using Frame Controls you'll probably need a recent multi-processor Mac Pro to get done in fairly quick order (and even then you might be waiting for longer than you'd want).
I'd suspect that for the iPod and iPhone you really don't need to do high quality scaling and deinterlacing so you may want to create a custom preset that would focus on speed rather than quality (since "good" and not better or best is probably good enough for the iPod/iPhone). Check out the Frame Controls in the preset to see if these are using the Better or Best settings.

I am new to php and am setting up a dynamic site in Dreamweaver (thanks to the Missing Manual – very helpful). I apologise in advanced for my lengthy description of the problem (perhaps get yourself a drink before continuing!)
I have a Search page with 4 list menus where the user can select an option from ANY or ALL of the menus, if a menu is not selected the value posted to the results page will be 'zzz'.
On the results page I have 4 recordsets, all getting the correct results, only one recordset is required to run depending on how many of the menus from the search page have been selected and a test is run before executing the sql using a SWITCH statement checking how many of the menus had passed the 'zzz' values from the Search page if you see what I mean. The results page has Repeating Regions, Recordset Paging and Display Record Count. The exact result that I require are generated by this method.
THE PROBLEM, when a user makes a selection the first page of 10 results is fine, but the error message above is shown at the bottom of the page, AND when the user clicks NEXT to go to the next page of results THERE ARE NO RESULTS.
This is exactly what happens depending on how many menus selected and which recordset is used:
4 menus selected from Search: runs RSsearchforsale, results correct but 3 error messages on 1st page relating to mysql_free_result($RsSearchForSale2),mysql_free_result($RsSearchForSale3), & mysql_free_result($RsSearchForSale4). The display record count shows correct results found. NEXT page is empty of results and still shows the correct display record count as if it should be displaying the records, also has the same 3 error messages.
3 menus selected from Search: runs RsSearchForSale2, results correct but 3 error messages on 1st page relating to mysql_free_result($RSsearchforsale),mysql_free_result($RsSearchForSale3), & mysql_free_result($RsSearchForSale4). The display record count shows correct number of results. NEXT page shows results from the DEFAULT setting of the recordset and the Display record count reflects this new set of results. Also still shows the 3 mysql_free_results for RsSearchForSale2, 3 and 4.
2 menus selected from Search: runs RsSearchForSale3, results correct but 2 error messages on 1st page relating to mysql_free_result($RSsearchforsale) & mysql_free_result (RsSearchForSale4). The display record count is correct. NEXT page does exactly the same as described in above 3 menus selected.
1 menu selected from search: runs RsSearchForSale4, results correct but 1 error meaasge on 1st page, mysql_free_result($RSsearchforsale). Display record count is correct and again when NEXT page is selected does as described in above where 2 or 3 menus selected.
If you have gotten this far without falling asleep then thank you and well done! I have pasted my code below and I know its a lot to ask but please please can you give me an idea as to where or why I have gone wrong. I felt I was so close at perfecting this search and have been working on it for weeks now. I feel sure the problem is because I have 4 recordsets on the page but I could find no other way to get the exact results I wanted from the menus.

Thank you for your reply and patience, we are getting closer in spite of me!
Of course i needed to change the name of the recordset, i did that the first time i did it (when i got the error), the when i re did it i forgot, in my defense i was also trying to get a full understanding of the code using the W3Schools php reference and writing by the side of the code on a piece of paper what it meant in English.
Anyway after re doing the code correctly it still displayed all the records of my database but i realised that was because i was POSTING from the search form and when i changed it to the GET method I now get results when all 4 list menus are selected from and the paging works. After reading about the POST / GET method i chose the POST option, is the GET method a better option in my circumstance?
On my site now if the user selects from 1,2 or 3 of the menus rather than selecting the relevant records it displays the NO RESULT page, I would like my users to be able to select from all of the menus or ANY combination of the menus and find exact results for their search, for example if they only select a location and a price i want it display all records that match that location and price with any number of bedrooms and any Type of property: Perhaps this is due to how my list menus are set up, for each menu the first Item label is Location (or Beds or Type or Price) and the value i have left blank which i believe means that it will use the item label as the value, the second Item label for all menus is Any and again the value has been left blank. All other item labels have values relevant to database records.

You're not adding the WHERE clause to the SQL query. My example code uses $query_search. You need to change that variable to match the name of your recordset, i.e. $query_RSsearchforsale.

I wanted to know how time machine works and what all does it back up?
I have 2 hard drives one is of 1TB and one is of 320gb
In the 1TB hard drive i store all my music videos and work stuff it is windows formatted
The 320gb hard drive is mac formatted and I was thinking of making a partition on it one with 250gb for time machine and the remaining 70 gb for mac softwares and files. The ssd of my mac has a capacity of 256gb. I have read for time machine you need at least 2x the space of your ssd on your external hard drive but i don't understand if my ssd is only 256 and can store files worth 256gb why do i need double the space? Secondly if I choose to use the complete 320 gb for time machine will that be okay or even if i choose to partition it to 250gb for time machine will that be fine too? Or will I need to format my 1TB hard disk out of which currently only 300 gb is empty and partition that to 500 gb for time machine?
I'm really confused every tells me to use time machine but do I need it? And what does it exactly do?
Your input will be really appreciate thanksThe reason that you want a partition (or drive) of 2-3 times the size of your boot drive for Time Machine is so that you can keep backups further back than just the current boot drive state - for that you'd need to make a clone of the drive rather than using Time Machine (see -> http://pondini.org/TM/Clones.html).

Note that you can't use Time Machine to backup a Windows partition.

Help with Time Machine Backups not working..
Let me preface this by saying I have spent the last day scouring the internet for solutions to my problem. I have tried every option that I have run across and have had no luck in resolving my problem. As a last resort, I'm turning here in hopes that you can be of help.
I have a 2012 Macbook Pro running Moutain Lion. I use an external HD for my time machine backups. I am having an issue with Time Machine not functioning. The initial error message I receive when I attempt to use TM to backup is: "Time machine couldn't coplete the backup to Rick's backup disk". "Unable to complete backup. an error occurred while creating the backup folder".
I searched the forums and net and found several things to do to try and resolve this issue. My computer will freeze out and not let me erase, or re-partition the the hard drive, so I switched it over to an older macbook of my girlfriends and am successfully able to erase, and re-partition the drive (using disk utility) as suggested by several forum postings I have read. I am able to run disk verify and disk repair and both say the disk is "ok" with no issues. The moment the erase and partition is done, her computer prompts a message : "Would you like to use this disk for Time Machine Backups" which tells me it is working properly. When I move it back to my macbook pro and attempt to run TM backup, it will now work and copy about 10g of my 120g before shutting down with this error message:
"Time Machine couldn't complete the backup to "Rick's Backup Disk". An error occurred while copying files. The problem may be temporary. If the problem persists, use disk utility to repair your backup disk."
If i attempt to re-run TM at that point, I get the original error message:
"Time machine couldn't coplete the backup to Rick's backup disk". "Unable to complete backup. an error occurred while creating the backup folder".
If I move the TM back to my Girlfriends computer and attempt to run TM, it will function properly and backup her entire harddrive. When I erase and try again on mine, I always end up back with the same issues. It's clearly something in my macbook that is screwing it up. Can anyone please offer some help! i have a sound in stage channel 1 which i want to play as soon as the movies starts. and the user is able to control it by pressing the pause button

I'm having a hard time understanding all of the options and patterns for indirection. Here is what I would like to accomplish: I have three tables represented by Parent and Child classes joined by a ParentChildJoin class. I am instantiating the join class because that table also holds the ordering attribute. I would like to be able to instantiate all of the Parent objects without any of the Join or Child objects. Then when I ask a Parent for its Join objects, I would like to get all of the Join and Child objects for that Parent, in order, and as efficiently as possible, preferably in one trip to the database. It appears that with Indirection, 'addBatchReadAttribute', and so forth I should be able to accomplish this, but I would like some help with the details, please.

So now I have A and B marked as Indirect and checked 'Use Batch Reading' on all four relations. What appears to be happening now is one query for the Parent, then when I access relation A, I get one query for the PCJoin objects, and an additional query each for the Parent and Child objects related to those, for a total of 4 queries (or 'big oh' 1). Much better.
It seems ideally one could get away with two queries, but I would like to be able to have this behavior whichever end of the join I start at, so I just want to verify that I've done the best I can (and also to provide an example, in case anyone else had the same question.) -
Help with Times Table GUI applet

I need help with an applet which inputs an integer from the user and displays the appropiate times table up to times 10 eg; user input 5 - display shows
5 time 1 is 5
5 times 2 is 10
5 times 10 is 50.
I have only managedt o get the display to show one statement eg 5 times 1 - I have tried using a for loop to show the whole table - but unlike a print statement each time the loop goes round it overwrites the data in the display box with the new data - any help would be much appreciated.

Help with Time Evaluation and function exit (HRPTIM03 / SAPLHRLV_001)

Hopefully someone can help me with an issue I am having with time evaluation and a user exit I wrote. The code for my exit is at the end of this post. IN DEV and QAS, everything works. However, in PRD, multiple rules are considered fulfilled (when looking in PT60), and so employees get two sets of vacation entitlements per month.
We have three rules for quota type 03 (vacation). Rules 3,6, and 9. Only rule 9 should apply to the individuals with the two job numbers in the code.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi everyone, I need some help with the time expression.
Im working with video copilot´s plugin element 3d and i've made a spere shaped thing with particles which im going to sync to music. The problem is that when i make the simple expression "time*321" on the noise evolution value to make the sphere move organicly throughout the whole video it only does so for about two minutes then it just stops changing even though the value changes. The pictures might help you understand.

Then there is another problem which is that the sphere evolves alot faster with the time set to 321 compared to when i have it on 30.
I hope you can help me and im sorry for my bad english just tell me if there is something you dont understand.I think you are giving the rotation value more than it can handle. After a while, many of the values in AE will stop increasing because the math can't go any further. Here are two things for you to try.
1) Use this simple expression for increasing the value of something.
THE BIG PICTURE: ([Amount of Change] / [Number of Seconds]) * time
ROTATION EXAMPLE: (360 / 5) * time; <----- This will rotate a layer 360º over 5 seconds. It will also continue to rotate until the end of the comp or you run out of math.
POSITION EXAMPLE: delta = (500 / 2) * time; // This changes the value of "delta" 500 units over 2 seconds and continues.
x = value[0] + delta; // Uses the x value from frame 0 and adds the delta to provide movement
y = value[1]; // Uses the y value
[x, y] // sends the values back to the layer
2) Modulus will recycle the numbers. Using your current expression, you can add modulus, and use it to recycle your math.
EXPRESSION: (time * 321) % 360
The % is the modulus, and it resets the count every 360º.
