Help with tracing an image please

Hi all, I've got an image I got sent by someone as I'me looking to cut it out on my vinyl cutter.
It's open in illustrator so I've selected it and click live paint - trace.
Below is the image.
When I trace it, all the straight edges go wonky and I'm unsure how to fix this.

@simpson246 - I guess I'm a bit curious for a couple of reasons:
1) why you specifically came here to this forum, to ask for help about Illustrator. Besides the fact that Cutstudio also has an integrated tracing feature, your answer could have easily been found on say YouTube or through a Google search. Literally 1000's of tutorials on the web how to use the pen tool, manually or automatically tweak settings for Auto Trace and then do manual clean up.
2) the other point was that I was shocked (which is common the more often I visit these forums I must say), that while you have a vinyl cutter, you have no knowledge of how the designs or documents are created that you send to it. This has (as far as I know) always been done in one kind of vector software or another for almost a couple of decades now. Even the cutter software has a pen tool(s) to create the cut-line. So what made you decide to use a strange new program like Illustrator to do the job?
While I thoroughly enjoy teaching people new tricks or help troubleshooting problems, I do have a rather nasty pet peeve. That is when it appears that someone is too lazy to spend the time to search for an answer, or take the time to learn from the copious amount of information and tutorials freely available on the web, and posts a question instead.
I've been in this business now for 30+ years, and I can't tell you how many 1000's of hours I have given to learning my trade, whether software, art, or technology. I've done this on my time and my dollar for the vast majority of it. I never expected a "free simple ride", which means I also didn't ask questions until all other sources were exhausted.
Lastly, whether I should and do ignore it most days, the fact that so many people think that they can just purchase a couple of thousand dollars worth of equipment and software and now they are a "professional" business by just hitting the "print button".... irks me.
Over the years I've witnessed countless small businesses that invested literally 10s of thousands of dollars over the years, thus supporting the developers and moving the industry forward, with training and equipment... only to see them be undercut and sometimes wiped out be these "new kids on the block". The very same kids that come here now and ask "newbie" questions to do the job for 1/3 price. It is what it is and I can't change that and don't even attempt to, but it surely does get to me some days.
Yes, I realize I should be more disciplined and let it slide without comment then... but, ya know... I'm human and just as impulsive as the next guy/girl some times that posts the question rathing than waiting a minute or 2.
@Jongware - I agree fully with "Learning By Mistake is a perfectly good way to learn".
It's learning by "having some one else do all the work", or "learning on the free individually tailored training from others" that I disagree with. Google, YouTube, AdobeTV, Smashing Magazine, etc. etc. also offer "free", you just might have to apply yourself. Also there is fantastic and affordable online training from Lynda.com to boot.
Learning by mistake and experimentation is the only way some of us Old Dogs were able to learn at all. Now get off my lawn!

Help with Dreamweaver flash image viewer

Hi all
Would like some help with Dreamweavers Flash image viewer.
Everything is working properly except when i try to link a picture, and have set the imagelinkTarget value to _blank the link always navigates away from my site and does not open in a new window.

I just googled and found lots of folks with the same problem. One fellow wrote this as a soluton:
"All you have to do is
remove the values from the imageLinks in the flash element. That
should fix it."

My desktop photo disappears when I reboot iMac...replaced with default apple image. does anyone know a fix?

First, try to delete the Desktop settings file. First, open Finder, select Go menu > Go to Folder, and type ~/Library/Preferences. Then, delete "com.apple.desktop.plist" and "com.apple.systempreferences.plist", and restart your computer. Finally, change the wallpaper and see if it stays after restarting your computer
If that does not work try
open the Applications Support folder and then look for the Dock folder and open that. There are two files, one of which is "desktoppicture.db". Move this file to the trash and securely delete it. Restart the computer. A new "desltoppicture.db" will be created on startup.
Finally, reset your desktop picture again using System Preferences.

Dear all, I need help with the colour profile of my photoshop CS6.
I've taken a photo with my Canon DSLR. When I opened the raw with ACDSee, the colour looks perfectly ok.
So I go ahead and open in photoshop. I did nothing to the photo. It still looks ok
Then I'm prompt the Embedded Profile Mismatch error. I go ahead and choose Discard the embedded profile option
And the colour started to get messed up.
And the output is a total diasater
Put the above photo side by side with the raw, the red has became crimson!!
So I tried the other option, Use the embedded profile
The whole picture turns yellowish in Photoshop's interface
And the output is just the same as the third option.
Could someone please guide me how to fix this? Thank you.

always use the embedded profile when opening tagged images in Photoshop - at that point Photoshop will convert the source colors over to your monitor space correctly
if your colors are wrong at that point either your monitor profile is off, or your source colors are not what you think they are - if other apps are displaying correctly you most likely have either a defective monitor profile or source profile issues

for Photoshop to work properly, i recall you want to have "use my settings for this device" checked in Color Management> Device tab
you may want to download the PDI reference image to check your monitor and print workflows
and complete five easy steps to profile enlightenment in Photoshop
with your settings, monitor profile and source profiles sorted out it should be pretty easy to pinpoint the problem...

Help with array of Images - is it possible?

To Daryll.Burke - I think, that my style of writing on this forum wasn't the main problem. If you want to help me, please focus to problem itself and not on details ;). I have rewritten everything, hope that it will be more readable for you.

Need Help With Waveform-driven Image Effects

Hi,
I've been working on a full-dome 3D animation for a couple of years now and I'm looking for someone to help with a custom plug-in for After Effects, Photoshop and/or Combustion. I need to be able to drive filters and effects like Brush Strokes and 'sketchy' noise with the waveform from an audio file. I've been using a very poor mans workflow in which I've mapped the waveform by breaking it up into vertical ranges of varying intensities and then applying respective levels of the effects and filters to the sequential images based on where they fall in the waveform ranges. So for the test Ive done, I've been literally applying Photoshop actions to very small packets of still images from rendered sequences, and it has been dizzyingly time-consuming. Ideally I would want to be able to do this dynamically with a motion graphics package, but really I'm looking for as much help as I can get.
This project began as my master's thesis and I'm working on it during the free time I have between teaching and freelance work; I don't have much money but I am willing to pay for help with this goal. There is still a lot of 3D work that I still need to do and the rendering process will be slow, so this wouldn't be a job with strict or tight deadlines. The final images will be very large (3200x3200) and with the growth in the full-dome market, these sizes could easily increase. Help with exporting and image size or boundaries?

I am trying to slide the cat into the scene a little at a time foir an animation project I am working on. However, when I export the image the back ground of the image expands with a checkered back ground( showing here in white) and shows the whole cat.
How do I just show a little of the cat on the image at a time when exporting. I am trying to give the impression that the cat is walking into the room. I do not want to have to cut the cat up.
I would be thankful for any suggestions.

I am trying to write a program.. who monitors my external tool.. please check my way of doing it.. as whenever i write programs having thread.. i end up goosy.. :(
first let me tell.. what I want from program.. I have to start an external tool.. on separate thread.. (as it takes some time).. then it takes some arguments(3 arguments).. from file.. so i read the file.. and have to run tool.. continously.. until there are arguments left.. in file.. or.. user has stopped it by pressing STOP button..
I have to put a marker in file too.. so that.. if program started again.. file is read from marker postion.. !!
Hope I make clear.. what am trying to do!!
My approach is like..
1. Have two buttons.. START and STOP on Frame..
START--> pressed
2. check marker("$" sign.. placed in beginning of file during start).. on file..
     read File from marker.. got 3 arg.. pass it to tool.. and run it.. (on separate thread).. put marker.. (for next reading)
     Step 2.. continously..
3. STOP--> pressed
     until last thread.. stops.. keep running the tool.. and when last thread stops.. stop reading any more arguments..
Question is:
1. Should i read file again and again.. ?.. or read it once after "$" sign.. store data in array.. and once stopped pressed.. read file again.. and put marker ("$" sign) at last read line..
2. how should i know when my thread has stopped.. so I start tool again??.. am totally confused.. !!
please modify my approach.. if u find anything odd..

This master.java program will run continuously for days or weeks, each time through the loop starting another slave process which runs for five minutes to up to an hour, which means there may be ten to twenty of these slave processes running simultaneously.
I believe threads is the best way to do this, but I don't know where to locate these slave programs: either inside the master.java program or separate slave.java files? I will need help with either method.

Incognito mode is a Google Chrome setting when you open a new window (Cmd+Shift+N on a Mac Ctrl+Shift+N on Windows) It opens a "private" window with no cookies and no tracking. The problem with it is that when you disable cookies, your license files are not sent to the site (whetehr it's YouTube or xFinity or any other that uses license files for paid content) and it treats you as if you're a first time visitor. Paid videos won't play wihtout the cookies sending the license file info.
This isn't a Flash Player setting. It's in Chrome. I did some research and according to Google, "Incignito" mode is off by default, and can ONLY be activate by the keyboard shortcut. There IS a way to disable it from the registry http://dev.chromium.org/administrators/policy-list-3#IncognitoModeAvailability

Help with css3 rollover tag please

Hey guys I'm stumped and need help with positioning some big picture buttons.

As u can see I have four picture buttons using css3 roller but I want all four buttons next to each other
2 buttons next to each other with the next 2 directly below .
Now orgininally I used the dreamweaver rollover button and everything was inline so flowed across the page no problem. These are divs and I've tried to make 2 panels side by side among other hings but I'm not getting there so I thought one of u clever guys would have no problems telling me what to do.
Please help I'm not getting the inline or absolute placement right

Hey Dave,
You need to remove the margin from #mosaicbutton, #kitchenbutton
and then add float : left; to #bathroombutton, #floorbutton, #mosaicbutton, #kitchenbutton,
That'll get you buttons sitting the way you want them, you may need to play with the margins after that.

Help with creating thumbnail images

I need some help with a webpage that displays images.
I am capturing an internal xml file ..and want to display:
An Image or images with a width of 130 px and height of 130
px
My problem is that when our users upload the pictures to the
website ..they are not resized ..and they would not know how to use
a program to do this.
Is there a code or way to take the uploaded picture file and
reduce it to a size of 130 x 130 in the existing page?
It currently is displaying the full size image(s) which are
take up 2 screens.

In the HTML you can just give it a width and height of those
values.
However, the full image is still loaded by the browser, so if
the image is
large, it's still going to be a bandwidth hog.
Ideally, you'd resize on the server at time of upload. This
can be done with
various components depending on the particular back-end
server/scripting
language.

Some help with the 10g install, please.

We want to install 10g, we are currently running 9i. We want to do this in silent mode since we have so many databases to move to 10g. We've got a few questions & concerns about the procedures that are supposed to be done.
If someone could kindly read over some of our concerns, we'd appreciate it.
First, we used the -record method to create a response file. How much do we have to manually edit that file once Oracle creates it for us? Or is it ready to go after we exit the OUI.
When we tried to do the install, it said it successfully installed 10g, but it failed on some of the configuration assistants. Do we need to run all of the configuration assistants? I mean, TNS is already configured. Does it change for the 10g install?
Additionally, once the 10g software is complete, the environment is still set to 9i. How does that get changed for the silent install to continue with the DBUA? I mean, we do have databases that need upgrading.
Any help with steps would be very helpful to us. We're getting error messages like this:

Help with CS4 tabbed image mode?

How does one drag a layer from one image to another in tabbed mode?
I'm forcing myself to work with the tabbed image interface as I assume someone thought this new feature was a good idea.
I often drag or shift+drag layers from one image to another, whether it be adjustments or image elements that need to be placed (in register) as a layer in another open image.
But when I use the tabbed interface mode any attempt to drag a layer from one tab to another does not work.
What am I missing???

Yeah I noticed the same limitation.. they making floating document mode extra ****(UI interface that doesn't adhere to System OS visual style, documents that no longer move with the main PS UI, like when you adjust the mainframe size or move the window floating docs would get moved and stay within the UI, unless you dragged and floating doc outside the main ui frame, which was good, but now it seems floating docs always live outside the mainframe and appear above docked although open panel UIs.. not to mention the new theme looks like complete and utter dogshit.. but oh well.. CS5 might get some more work.. maybe they'll bring back the pallete well.. ******* adobe noobs.
I too liked to drag & drop of layer objects onto another document its common thing I do when working in photoshop.. I just can't believe how lame Adobe are that they couldn't allow this functionality seeing as a tabbed UI is the default setup now..
seems like the only way around it is to use the now **** floating document mode... or use one of the splitview modes.. course those are crap, but at least you can D&D layer objects, and then switch back the single doc tab.
lets not get into the flakey **** opengl support and functionality.

Help with Rendering/Finalizing Project Please?

I am so new to this entire Adobe and video making that I've spent the last few hours pulling hair literally. I am hoping that some of you experts can take some time to give this novice some much needed guidance. Okay, I'm begging!
I recorded a wedding on a XHA1 MiniDV camera in 1080p 24fps. Captured the clips to PP CS4 which in turn makes them MPEG, I believe. Included in my project are addition clips imported from a Canon HF S21 also in 1080p 24fps and a Rebel T2i in ?? format. Didn't use too many clips from the rebel.
Anyhow, my project settings in PP are:
Video - Display format = Frames
Audio - Display format = Audio Samples
Capture Format = HDV
All Scratch disks are saved on to my desktop with 284 GB

Again, sorry for the ignorance and stupiditiy. I am wondering what would help.
I am trying to burn it all with chapter markers and additional features to a DVD.
- What would be the BEST settings for exporting to Encore?
- Should I separate each section into a different sequence - would that help? For example, the pre-ceremony to one sequence. The ceremony to another. The reception to another. Or should I make new projects for each?
- How can I make my computer faster? Is it the memory, ram, etc? What should I do?
Right now, it has failed over and over in rendering in After Effects. It stops encoding when I export to AME. It says 158 hours for rendering in PP.

Your computer looks great. I wouldn't be too worried about the time PP shows for encoding etc.
I have found that right when I first start to encode a project, 73 hours or 12 hours is normal. Rendering is not necessary for encoding. However when I look back later, the time has dropped greatly.
Down to 2 or 3 hours. that's when I follow Jeff B.'s suggestions when I do a 2X scan.......

Hello, i need add an authentication field in my GET request using HTTPS to authenticate users. I put the authentication field using the setRequestProperty method, but it doesn't appear when i print all properties using the getRequestProperties method. I wrote the following code:

I have moved this to the main Dreamweaver forum, as the other forum is intended to deal with the Getting Started video tutorial.
The best way to get help with layout problems is to upload the files to a website and post the URL in the forum. Someone can then look at the code, and identify the problem. Judging from your description, it sounds as though the Document window is narrow, which would result in the final menu tab dropping down to the next row. Try turning on Live view or previewing the page in a browser. Design view gives only an approximate idea of the final layout. Live view renders the page as it should look in a browser.
