Help with transferring apps on new computer.

I bought a new computer and have backed up my songs and videos..now I have all my applications that I have no idea how to transfer them to the new computer.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Be sure to be logged into your new computer's iTunes (the store via iTunes so it knows your account info) before plugging phone in.
I would also turn off automatic sync first.
Once connected, choose the Transfer purchased content (file menu or context menu off the iPhone menu item on left).
It will copy off anything on your phone you bought via iTunes (include apps).
For things you may have that are not longer on your phone, the app files are also in your iTunes folder of your old computer so just bring them to your new library as well.

I got audio books from the library and loaded it onto my ipod so i could listen to them on my commute each day. It was amazing...until my computer with itunes died. Im not very good at technical things so im hoping a smart individual could give me a helpful tip as to how to transfer all my data from my ipod to computer. i was researching this topic, but could not finding any help. I did ffind that i could doenload a program and then it would allow me to copy it, but i don't want to do it this way. Please help me out.

  • Help! With transfering songs to new computer.

I recently purchased a new computer, and I was wondering how to completely transfer my library from my previous comuputer.
    Thanks.

Well, there are a number of ways.
    1. You can use an external Hard Drive, or Flash Drive. You will simply find the folder on your computer with all of the music, drag it onto the external whatever drive, then plug it into the new computer.
    2. There is a specific cable that you can use to connect the computers. I forget what it is called, but if you visit like a Radio Shack or something like that they will help you.
    3. You can burn a CD or DVD(preferrably, as it holds much more data) (or multiple, depending how large your library is) for your music, then put that into the new computer. You will put the blank disk into your DVD or CD or whatever it is drive and open iTunes. Then, make a playlist that is small enough to fit on one DVD or CD. Go to this playlist and Click Burn Disk (top right of the iTunes screen).

  • Help with syncing iPhone to new computer

I have a PC and it crashed a month ago. I have an external hardrive that I saved my data too, but it hadn't been updated since I got the iPhone. If I plug my iPhone into the new PC and sync it will I lose all the date or will it all transfer from the iPhone to the PC? I have a bunch of new songs I've bought on iTunes thru the iPhone and a bunch of apps, I'm really nervous about losing all of it.
    Thanks.

In regards to iTunes content, an iPhone can be synced or manually managed with an iTunes library on a single computer only.
Photos can be transferred to an iPhone from a single computer only also. If there are any photos on your iPhone that were transferred from your old computer, were these photos included with your computer's backup? If so, you need to transfer these photos from your computer's backup to your new computer.
Did you transfer your iTunes folder from your old computer to your computer's backup?
If so, you need to transfer the iTunes folder to the same location on your new computer. You also need to authorize your new computer with your iTunes account with iTunes if you haven't already done so.
iTunes includes an option to transfer iTunes content that was purchased/downloaded from the iTunes store from an iPod or iPhone, but this is for iTunes content that was purchased/downloaded from the iTunes store only.
If you included the iTunes folder with your computer's backup, after restoring the iTunes folder from your backup to your new computer - with iTunes quit before doing so, after doing so with your iPhone connected to iTunes and without syncing, at the iTunes menu bar go to File and select Transfer Purchases From - the name of your iPhone.
If all 3rd party apps do not transfer to your iTunes library, you can re-download a 3rd party app with iTunes on your computer and you won't be charged again for a purchased app as long as you use the same iTunes account to re-download the app that was used to purchase the app originally.
Do you plan on syncing contacts and/or calendar events with a supported application on your new computer? The iPhone supports syncing contacts and calendar events with Outlook 2003 or 2007, and with Windows Contacts for syncing contacts only.

  • Help with syncing to a new computer.

    Hello.
We recently had an old computer of ours shut down, so now my laptop has become the primary iTunes sync place for my entire family.
Every ipod and iphone has synced nicely with the new computer except one.
My moms will not sync and I can not add apps or music onto her iPhone from my iTunes.
Her phone however is authorized with my computer.
    So two questions...
How do I get her phone to cooperate with my iTunes?
"Updating to iOS 5.0.1 will delete all of the apps and media, including iTunes Store purchases, on your iPhone. To preserve your content, apply this update on the computer where you sync apps, music, videos, and photos."
^If the original computer is not available how do I update her phone on the new computer without wiping out all the data?
    Thanks.

    This should help: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1296
You definitely do not want to just connect to a new computer.  It will wipe all you music.  You must have your media on your new computer first.  Before connecting your phone, open iTunes and go to Preferences.  Make sure you uncheck the box that says to sync automatically when the phone is connected.  Sync is something you want to be in charge of, especially the first time on a new computer.

  • Help with moving music to new computer

I have run into a problem while following the iTunes: How to move your music to a new computer support artical.  I believe I followed the instructions using my iPod as an external hard drive but when I finally went back to iTunes, the songs are listed, but they do not open.  Instead, I get a pop up that says, "The song "xyz" could not be used because the original file could not be found.  Would you like to locate it?"  This is the case for about 500 songs that were previously on my old computer in iTunes
I have a new window's 8 computer and had just downloaded iTunes onto it.  I was so worried about losing my songs that I specifically looked for help on how to seamlessly accomplish this.

What am I supposed to do with the iTunes folder that is now on my desktop from the step below:
    Copy music to new computer
To copy all your music files (including the library file that holds all your playlists and other settings) to your new computer:
Locate your Music folder (Mac OS X) or your My Music folder (Windows) on your new computer:
    Mac OS X: /Users/username/Music
    Windows: \Documents and Settings\username\My Documents\My Music\
Drag the iTunes folder in this location out to the desktop.
    Can I just delete that?

  • Problems With Transferring To A New Computer...PLEASE READ

I recently had problems with my Powerbook G4 and called Apple about it. Long story short, I had to erase and install Mac OSX thus erasing everything from my hard drive. I have around 2,000 songs and 1,300 pictures on my iPod that I need on my computer. Is there any way of doing this?

Sorry I can't help with photos however there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve song files from your iPod, this is just a selection. Have a look at the web pages and documentation for these, they are generally quite straightforward. I use Senuti but check the others out particularly if you need to move videos for which you' d need iPod Copy.

  • Help with automatic update on new computer

I bought a new computer and have installed itunes on it, but if I connect my Ipod since its a different computer ITunes will automatically update it and erase all my songs. I can't change the Ipod settings without my Ipod being connected but if i conect it, itunes will automatically update it before i can change the settings. What can i do?

If you get the dialogue box that your iPod is linked to a different library, click No. Your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list. Change the update setting in Preferences>iPod to "manually manage songs and playlists" Managing Your Songs Manually
You can also use a keyboard command to prevent your iPod auto-syncing with iTunes. While connecting the iPod to the computer on a Mac hold down the Option and Command (⌥ and ⌘) keys, on Windows, hold down Shift + Ctrl. This will stop the iPod from auto-syncing with iTunes and the iPod will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go. This may take between 3 and 30 seconds depending on your computer. Then go to Preferences>iPod and check the "Manually manage songs and playlists" box.
Keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync again.
Another way is to connect your iPod and before it starts to sync, click the little X on the right hand side of the display beside the "Do Not Disconnect" message. The display is the little window to the right of the iTunes control buttons: iPod Interface
Or you could look at the method described in this link: How to keep iTunes from automatically updating your iPod
Go with whichever method you feel most comfortable and as I said, if at any point you are asked if you want to link your iPod to a new library, click No.

  • Help with popping sound on new computer!!

    ) Hi,
? I just got a new computer from Dell XPS 9000 Windows 7 64 bit,?with the X-Fi Extreme Audio sound card. I'm getting popping sounds now and then, some when I go from page to page on IE 8 and back a page. I'm also getting the popping sound when I go to sound properties. I've tested diiferent sounds and it's a hit or miss on which sound would pop, seems different each time.
? Called Dell was on the phone 3 hours, they checked the hardware and everything passed, I also changed my speakers Klipsch - ProMedia 2. Speaker to a cheap set I had around and I'm still getting a popping sound now and then. Dell seemed to think it could be my hardri've, if that's the case, I just spent over 8 hours setting up the computer the way I wanted it. I also un-installed the sound card and re-installed it with the latest drivers.
? Could it still be the sound card or do some of you think it's my harddri've or something else?
    ???? Thanks, Jerry

try the pax or daniel k modified drivers because if you use creatives' you're screwed.
and to tell you the truth the popping will probably not go away 00%.
probably the wisest thing to do is to go to where you got the pc and tell them to change the card to something not made from creative or not using anything from creative. creatives' driver development team is not working for the past 8-0 months. they are on hibernation until the earths temperature reaches minus 32 celsius.
    good luck mate
    Cheers !!!

  • Help with moving itunes to new computer

I bought a new computer and tried to transfer itunes.
My old computer had insufficient space on the c drive to transfer using an external drive (the apple instrutions seem to require all data is collated in a subfolder).
    I used home sharing instead.
This seemed to work and when I plugged in my iphone to the new computer photos etc were transferred from my phone ot my new computer.
However, when I try and sync, it simply says step 1 of 1 (not 1 of 4) starting to sync and then stops.
Any ideas on how I get the sync to work?
    Thanks

  • Help with syncing on a new computer

well my pc just crashed and i wanted to know if I could sync my ipod with my laptop. I have never used my ipod on my laptop and was wondering if my music would carry over if I hooked my ipod up to it or just clear it

If there is no music on your laptop, you need to transfer it from the iPod. Otherwise you'll run a very real risk of deleting it all.
For iTunes version 7 or later, then you can transfer purchased iTunes store music from the iPod to an authorized computer by using the "file/transfer purchases from iPod" menu. Note that the maximum of 5 authorized computers applies here.
Find out how to do that here.
How to copy iTunes purchases from an iPod to a computer.
For all other non purchased content (your own CDs etc) try this method which works on some Windows PCs.
Enable your iPod for disk use.
    See: iPod Disk Use.
Open iTunes and select edit/preferences/advanced/general. Put a check mark in the box marked "copy files to iTunes music folder when adding to library" and also "keep iTunes music folder organized", then click 'ok'.
Connect the iPod whilst holding down the shift/ctrl keys to prevent any auto sync, and if you see the dialogue window asking if you want to sync to this itunes library, click 'no'.
Then go to file/add folder, open 'my computer', select your iPod and click 'ok'.
The music files should transfer to your iTunes.
If this doesn't work (and it may not because officially it's not supposed to), check out the instructions/suggestions here.
Music from iPod to computer (using option 2). This a manual method using "hidden folders" and although it works, it is a little more involved than other methods.
Much easier ways are to use one of the many 3rd party programs that copy music from the iPod to the computer.
One of the most recommended is Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.
Another free program is Pod Player.
    SharePod is also freeware.
If you want to recover just the structure of playlists from the iPod (and not the actual song files themselves), there's iRepo for Windows. which I understand has this feature along with all the standard features for these programs.
iPodRip also has the feature enabling you to reconstruct playlists.

Will my whole itunes library be transferred to my new computer with home sharing,in other words will I be able to use bothe computers at the same time ? And will I have two copies of my all my playlists?

    Hi there J1750oe,
You may find the information in the article below helpful.
iTunes: How to move your music to a new computer
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4527
    Transferring playlists
If you want not only your content but also your playlists to exist on your new computer, you will want to transfer a copy of all your playlists from your old computer. To do this, choose File > Library > Export Library on your old computer. Save the XML file that is created to your desktop.
Send the playlists file to yourself as an e-mail attachment, use an external drive, or use file sharing to move the playlists file to your new computer. Once the file is on your new computer, open iTunes and choose File > Library > Import Playlist. The import process will remove any items from the playlists that you didn't share via Home Sharing.
