Help with two ipods, one computer please!

Right, my sister had an ipod mini already connected to the computer. I got an ipod mini for my birthday, the updated version, and wanted to use it. I read that it was okay to have two ipods on the same computer so i installed mine how it said. However, noe both ipods are on the same itunes which means sharing all our music. I now want to move my ipod to another user account on windows XP without damaging either ipod or the music.

  • Help with two ipod users on one computer???

Ok heres a quick rundown of the problem. My girlfriend and i both have ipod minis and i am having difficulty getting I tunes to work for me. Her I tunes works fine for her I pod, but when i try to add music files to my ipod using her I tunes, it keeps telling me that my ipod is attached to another music library, then it asks me if i want to erase the music on the ipod and download her music. I thought that maybe i was doing something wrong so i decided to install my copy of itunes to remedy the problem. I tried to install my ipods i tune disc onto the computer, everything looks like it installs well but for some reason its seems as though you can't have two versions of itunes on one computer. Can someone help me? Is there an easy way to fix this?

OH good lord! Go into your start up menu and find Tour Windows XP and it will show you how. OR GO into your Control Panel, click on USER ACCOUNTS and go from there...its not rocket science, trust me

  • Two ipods - one computer - Need help

I have had an ipod for a few months and my girlfriend just got one for Christmas. Neither have been registered. Now that she is trying to put songs on her ipod it is uploading all of the songs from mine onto hers. I don't know how to make it so that she has her own library without deleting all of my songs. Can two ipods be used on one computer? What should we do so that we can have two different libraries that won't interfere with the other? Is there a way to login to different itunes accounts on one computer instead of the same account opening through default when accessing itunes/library?

I have a Nano 2nd gen and recently purchased a 1GB shuffle. Using the link above I tried "method 3" to create a separate library. My problem is that when I clicked the advance button there was no general tab. Do I a newer version of itunes or something?

  • Help with two Ipods on Same Computer

I have several questions in this one thread...
I have two Ipods (Mine and my wifes). We each have seperate user names on the PC. I have all my music in the Public Folder, Music, Itunes. I have both Itunes preferences setup to share libraries, I have both setup to use that as one library, and I have considated the libraries. So the problems:
    1. How can I insert a new CD we own and have it be in the library and both Ipods sync it? I placed a new CD we own and it is syncing to my ipod, but not my wifes. I confirmed it is in the shared folder.
    2. Can you both use the songs you purchase on Itunes? It is saying no when I am syncing hers for songs I purchased on my acct. But I thought it could be on 5 different devices.
Thank you for any help. I have searched high and low and I am sure the solution is here somewhere, but I keep doing what I find with no success.

If the old iPod works, the new iPod will work.
    Simply plug it in.
Create a new playlisy with the songs you want.
    Open iTunes orefs -> iPOd.
Select Automatically update only selected playlists.
Select the playlist you just created.
    That is all.

  • Two iPods One Computer with two hard drives

    HELP! HELP! HELP!
I have a 20GB iPod set up on my computer using the computer's hard drive which is only 40GB.
I have just purchased a 60GB Video iPod and want to set it up with the program, a second iTunds and it's playlists on an 80GB external hard drive.
I copied the iPod program and iTunes over to the portable drive, but can't get my new iPod to be recognized. And, the iTunes on both locations shows my playlists for my original iPod. Each time I plug in the new iPod, it says there is no iPod connected. When I plug in my old iPod, it works fine.
I am not real good at setting things up and need as much detail as possible for getting this to work.
The goal is that I can choose which iPod to access and set up each play list separately. I want to have my music on my old iPod and use the new one for pictures, videos, etc.

  • Problem with 2 iPods one computer

My grandson is using my computer for his iPod. I just got my own iPod and followed the instructions on how to use multiple iPods with one computer using Method 3. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1495 I was able to put some of music on my iPod but then my grandson wasn't able to find his own library. Obviously I did something wrong so we ended up deleting my library and I need to start over. Does anyone have any advice on how I can prevent this problem from happening again?

Thank you for the reply. I would really prefer two libraries rather than just playlists especially since Apple says it can be done.
    Why?

  • Two Ipods - one computer - user accounts?

I have just gotten a second Ipod for my husband. I have read the article about using two Ipods with one PC - and want to use the two user accounts as my husband already has a separate account on the pc. Do I have to download a separate copy of Itunes using his account, or can I use the install of Itunes that I am already using through my user profile?

yup sure you can use more than two ipod
just create a new user when you open the new account and log in it will configure the itunes to ypur account IT WILL GO THROUGH THE LISENCE AGREEMENT SCREEN click on I AGREEE and u will be all set to use itunes
Make sure u are not connecting more than 1 ipod at any given time to the Computer

  • Two users, two iPods, one computer~ problems

I share my computer with another ipod user. We are getting 2 issues confused. First, she was recently on the computer and probably updated music. Now, I can't get my ipod on to update b/c I get the msg. stating that another user has to log out. What was she supposed to do when she was done so that she was logged out? Is there anything that I can do to log her out w/out having her ipod around (she is out of the country for now).
Secondly, how can I seperate her music and my music, so that we don't have to take on each other's music every time we plug in the ipod?
    TIA

  • Two iPods, One computer, Different Login accounts

Hi. I've had my iPod Mini for about two years now and my mother just bought one for herself. On our computer we use different login accounts which is basically just different settings. So iTunes has it's own library on each account and we can add songs to the different libraries.
But when we try and update my mother's iPod, we go to click 'Update iPod', but it is greyed out. Is there any way around this or can we only use one iPod on the whole computer, despite the different accounts.

    Check this out.

  • Two iPods, one computer--How to do it?

Create separate XP user accounts and each will have your own library.

  • Two Ipods - One Computer - What

I have a 3rd Gen. Ipod and just got a new 5th Gen. for my husband. I think i know how to only have one Itunes account. BUT Do I need to install the cd that came with teh Ipod for the new one? OR can I just run it off teh Ipod software that is already installed that mine is using? What do I need to do?

See I knew that sounded too easy! The Ipod was recognized and Granted I didn't have to install the Ipod cd - BUT Itunes won't recognize the Ipod - says it has to have ITunes 6.0 or newer to run.
Do you know anything about the new Itunes version? or do I need to go to the other forum. I have read several messages that says the new version is a pain.

  • Multiple users and multiple ipods, - one computer  PLEASE HELP!!

I have 1 computer, three users with three different ipods. I want my two daughters to be able to share the music and movies I buy on their own ipods. That's possible and legal, right?
It has always worked in the past and now I am getting a message when I try to sync daughters ipods that says "this computer is no longer authorized to play purchased items that are on ipod "RB's ipod". Then basically authorize this or you 42 items that were purchased will be removed.
Then I do the authorization. Then it says, this computer is already authorized, 1 computer out of 5 computers authorized. But then it asks me to authorize it again with same "this computer is no longer authorized..." warning. And it will not sync her ipod until I authorize it.
I finally did "don't authorize" just to sync her new songs and it erased all her old movies and songs. They are still in the library but won't sync anymore.
PS...I've never had a different account or different computer and it always has worked in the past.
Anyone have an trouble shooting tips?? THANKS!!

Thanks, Diane. I did try report a problem twice and never heard from anyone. Meanwhile I have deauthorized computer, quit itunes, rebooted and opened itunes and reauthorized. No help. Also have read many other posts and nothing in them worked.
What do you think about this - Go to control panel and uninstall iTunes and any other things with "Apple" in them (including Quicktime).
Then go back to the apple site and re-install iTunes. See if that works.
Just not sure how to open Control Panel to unistall itunes. I do think this might be due to upgrading to itunes 9.2.
(Then once I solve this, need to solve fact that during all this, I chose don't authorize on my daughters computer, lost a lot of her music and her ipod froze as well. Reset, restore, nothing is working to get her ipod back)
    Thanks for your help!
