Help with Vintage, Blended Look?

Hey everyone. New to the forum, but wanted to get some advice from the experts. I am desperately trying to achieve this exact vintage, blurred look for a photo set I have, and turn it into a preset or action for later use. Essentially, I need to know how to add the proper layers for that color, the blended light effects and the grain:
Please let me know any advice, preset/action, or tips you may have! I truly appreciate it!

I think that's a case for Photoshop. Sure you could try in Lr with the Adjustment Brush (set Sharpness to a - value and Exposure / Brightness to a + value) but I doubt that you could achieve this look.
And a preset / action??? The effects are very subject-specific. A preset / action would not be able to do it. This is individual manual work.

Help with colour blending i think?

Ok, hi guys, this may be a simple answer but how can i do the following, i've tried searching, but i don't actually know the question without a long explanation.
I've got the below image , which is the union jack, however i need the image from the middle to the end to be blue and white with it blended in so it looks like one flag- (red & white, belended into blue & white)

I'll be using cs5, but i prefer to work with this in photoshop 7, as that is where the original image is with the added text, as i presume it will not just transfer over.

Not sure I'm understanding you fully, but you want something like this?
As you can see, I added a new layer and created a white to blue gradient over part of it, mixed with the flag underneath using Multiply blending.
This will work in any version of Photoshop.

Help with removing bordered looking lines

So in this picture around the object on the right looks like it has a greyish/white line and I dont know where it came from or how to get rid of it please help

try saving it as a Photoshop PDF--with layers--then try posting--although it will probably be too large to post--there is a 2 MB size limit.
I suspect the problem is in layer 3 copy 2, or layer 3 copy 2---turn off ALL layers--then starting wiyh the background layer, turn them on one after another--when the line appears--that will be the layer that needs fixing.

Help with transparency & blend modes?

Well, I'm making a book cover
The idea is that I have a background on top of which i put a label which will contain the name of the book but will "cut out" through the label to show the background.
I've done a sketch in Ideas, here it is
Now, the question is how would I do this in Illustrator, but with a actual object and a font instead of erasing out of a rectangle on an iPhone

You may:
1) Create the Type (no need to outline) on top of the label,
2) Select both (and nothing more) and in the Tranparency palette flyout tick Make Opacity mask.
If the Type is black have both Clip and Invert Mask unticked (if it is white, tick Invert Mask, hardly relevant here).

Help with vintage car audio circa 1967

Is there any car deck or in deck/dash system which allows you to operate the ipod instead of using the deck/dash system to manipulate the ipod WHILE it still charges the ipod. I figured the last resort is to buy the itrip and a cigarette lighter cable, but i own a 1967 riviera and it only has am radio so that really doesn't work. If anyone can point me in the right direction it would be nice
So far all the dash systems I have used, I can only manipulate the ipod through the deck/dash system which is very irriating since it takes forever to scroll.

I need help with a button animation!

I hope someone can help with a simple-looking problem which
nonetheless has me stumped!
I have a feeling that I've missed something obvious.
I've created a movie clip to act as a button (I've called it
"abs_button") and placed it on the stage.
My main movie has one frame.
Within the "abs_button" movie clip there are 5 layers.
Labels, actions, default button state, rollover state and rollout
state.
Technically, default button state, rollover state and rollout
state could be on the same layer as they don't overlap, but I've
given each animation its own layer for clarity.
FRAME 01.
Default button state is one frame with a graphic of the
button. Just a label at the start ("abs_up") and a "stop();" action
at the end.
FRAME 02 to 31.
Rollover state is a 30 frame animation. Label at start
("abs_over"), "stop()"; action at the end.
FRAME 32 to 62.
Rollout state is a 30 frame animation. Label at start
("abs_out"), "stop()"; action at the end.
All animations were achieved with tweens.
My initial "abs_button" code:

My experiments with variables simply didn't work.
I would be grateful if someone could tell me where I'm going

Since the code is attached directly to the movieclip, you
don't have to
identify the clip. A gotoAndPlay() function takes a frame
number or a
frame label name as its argument, never the name of the clip

Based on my knowledge, I'm afraid that it can't be achieved. Exchange can filter messages with attachments, but it couldn't store these attachments on public folder automatically. Also, I don't see any transport rule can do it.

Problem - SFDC does not create cases from emails that have more than 10 MB of attachments. Our clients will not go-live if their clients cannot send in emails with attachments over 10 MBs
Potential resolution - Configure MS exchange to strip off the attachments(if over 10 MB) and store it in a public folder, forward the email to Salesforce (so the case gets created or the email
is associated to an existing case), the client should have some way to know if the attachments were stripped off and should be able to dlownload the attachments and continue with case resolution.
Any help is appreicated!

New Mac user looking for help with Finder, Preview, Keyboard, & Dock

So about a month ago I switched over from a lifelong Windows user to a brand new MacBook Pro, and while I am adjusting pretty well, there are still some things that I haven't quite figured out.
First up on the list is Finder! I like my files to be arranged just like how they are in Windows Explorer--folders first alphabetically, then files alphabetically. I've managed to acquire this setting by messing around with the "clean up by" and "arrange by" functions but I don't really know the specific combination. Most of the time these preferences are saved and set as the defaults under "View Options" but every once in a while it resets and I have to tinker around with the settings all over again. Does anyone know of a way to fix this? It's only happened twice so far, but I'd rather not have it happen again. Also, occasionally when I delete an item, there is a blank space left where the icon was instead of all the files following it bumping up a space. Any quick fixes for this bug?
Next up is Preview. Again, I like the Windows Way and I like to be able to browse between the files in a folder while using Preview/Windows Photo Viewer. I know that there is a way to browse between files if you select the whole folder and stick it in Preview, but is there a way to achieve the same result without having to do that? An app or "extension" of some sort that adds arrows in to browse between photos? I've had no luck finding anything other than the aforementioned option. Is there a good free alternative to Preview that will function similarly with the browse between photos option?
One of my favorite things about my new Mac is the backlit keyboard function. My old laptop didn't have it and as someone who is online more often at night it is super helpful. But is there a way to turn it off during the day/in bright settings? A way to put it on a timer? In System Preferences I selected the option "Adjust keyboard brightness in low light", which I assumed to mean would have the keyboard NOT very bright when there IS light, but it continues to light up just the same. Any apps or extensions to help with this one?
And finally, the dock! This question is more about aesthetics than functionality but help is appreciated all the same. Currently, my dock looks like this: http://i42.tinypic.com/35ktxlz.png It is rather opaque and the indicator lights can barely be seen. However, in a lot of tutorial videos I've been watching, many people have docks that look like this: http://i.i.cbsi.com/cnwk.1d/i/tim/2011/07/19/Lion_LaunchPad.png It is a darker shade of gray, the divider is dashed rather than a straight line, and the indicator lights are clearly visible. Does anybody know how to get this look for the dock? I've looked in the dock preferences but there's not really anything in there other than magnification/size/effects.
That about sums things up! I'm sorry if any of these seem like "silly" questions but they are all things I have been unable to find answers for. Any and all tips, tricks, and help is appreciated! Thanks in advance for all your help!!

Seems like you are interested in column view, which would show you the hierarchy of folders and files: Column View in Mac OS X Mountain Lion - For Dummies Not sure what's going on if your finder settings don't stay put. May be a corrupted preferences file, which is easy to fix, but is perhaps a topic for another discussion.
What I'd suggest is to have an open mind and try to see what the mac can do, rather than force it to look like your windows machine. I mean, if you just want it to look like windows, then why bother switching? If you give it a little time, you'll start to appreciate the mac way of doing things, and see how it is infinitely more awesome, powerful, creative, intuitive, and better designed (and the software way better written) than what you left behind. But that's your call.
There are some threads on this forum with complaints about the backlight. Keyboard backlight settings query...: Apple Support Communities Evidently it depends on the angle of the screen and the light sensor relative to the light. Some suggest that a SMC reset may help: Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC) This is not an issue for me, I just adjust the brightness with the keyboard buttons if I want. Real men shift their own gears, drink their coffee black, and adjust their own keyboard brightness. I am not aware of any software to exert more control over this feature but a search of macupdate Download Apple Mac Software & iPhone Software : MacUpdate may help. I mean, it's up to you what is important. I can waste a lot of time playing around with the GUI and with unnecessary software, or I can just get my work (and play) done.
You might prefer the no-glass dock, that removes the shelf, and makes the indicator lights like more discrete orbs. You can do this with the terminal. Using the terminal is also, perhaps, a topic for another discussion.I like the 2D dock much better. If you want I'll give you some directions for how to do it. In my frustration , amongst lots of open web pages tutorials and other useless information , I come across innocent looking link and software to installed called Genieo , which suppose to help with any router .
Software ask for permission to install , and about 30 % in , my instinct was telling me , there is something not right . I stop installation . Delete everything , look for any
trace in Spotlight , Library . Nothing could be find .
Now , every time I open Safari , Firefox or Chrome , it will open in my home page , but when I start looking for something in steed of Google page , there is
''search.genieo.com'' page acting like a Google . I try again to get raid of this but I can not find solution .
With more research , again using genieo.com search eng. there is lots of articles and warnings . From that I learn do not use uninstall software , because doing this will install more things where it come from.
I do have AppleCare support but its to late to phone them , so maybe there some people with knowledge , how to get this of my computer

Genieo definitely doesn't help with your router. It's just adware, and has no benefit to you at all. They scammed you so that they could display their ads on your computer.

It looks like I cannot install anything anymore. Everytime I try to install a new software, I simply get stuck during the installation type process. I put in my password, it does accept it, but it does not go any further.
I tried to reset the password, put no password, repair the permissions, the disk but nothing will do. I nearly got stuck with the log in screen but finally succeeded in disabling it.
So I thought I might try to create a new account but I cannot click the lock to make changes. It simply refuses to react.
I am now thinking about using the migration assistant to save all my settings, data and so fourth, but again I get stuck when I have to type in my password. It accepts it but nothing happens...
I guess it has something to do with the authorization process, but can't find anything on the internet about it... Can you help me out?
I am running Lion 10.7.3.

You probably won't like this suggestion, but I suggest you reinstall Lion.
First, backup your system. Next, reboot your system, press/hold the COMMAND-R keys to boot into the Recovery HD. Select 'Reinstall Mac OS X'. If you purchased Lion as an upgrade to Snow Leopard, the reinstall process will install Lion 10.7.3. If your system came preinstalled with Lion, you might still get Lion 10.7.2. Both installs are a total install of the OS. None of your apps or data will be impacted. Just the OS.

I guess I spoke too soon! I really can't believe this nightmare is not over yet! My account is still wrong. The credit that I was due totaled $63.00 I am looking at a message on my phone saying that $21.01 was credited which makes my balance $219.72. I received a text the following day that says, I processed your credit of $30.00 and your new balance $216.73 how is that possible? None of the late fees were credited and the amount due for my monthly charges are wrong. Before any changes were made to my data plan back in Nov. My monthly charges were $140.00, I needed my hot spot back and i was told that the hot spot will increase my bill $10 for each phone that totals $20. The customer rep that change my data plan at that time also gave me a credit of $20 to compensate for the increase until I had time to talk with customer service about the mix-up with my Hot spot. I originally had the hot spot, but the rep that change my plan almost a year prior told me nothing was changing except I was getting more for less money. I explained to that rep that I need my hot spot 4 times a year...and I don't want my plan to have any changes. To verify what I'm telling u check my account and see that I called from Albany New York wanting to know where my hot spot was and I was told I didn't have the hot spot on my account since the last data change! I lost money once again due to the verizon rep's. so my current data plan the rep promised would increase $20 which makes my monthly charges that were $140 prior to the change $160 after the hot spot was returned to my account. Then I was given a $12 credit per month for 12 months because of so many mistakes made to my account so with that $12 credit my monthly charges should $148 + surcharges + taxes and that's not what I see. I do know this much right now my account is in such a shambles I can hardly see the light at the end if there is an end! I need real help!

If the third link you posted (the link containing the word "majority") does not look like the following then you inadvertently installed adware.
That particular page should resemble the following:
The word "majority" in the third paragraph should not be a link and should not have the green icon associated with it.
