Any other choices for communication with web cam

I have wrote a JMF program that takes the images from webcam. However, it really depends on lighting. When lighting is not enough, my whole application hangs. In fact, I have installed the software provided together with my webcam, it works pretty good nomatter how dark it is. Therefore, I really hope you guys can share some experiences to me, or are there any choices, such as, C, C++, etc, that allows me to capture the images from webcam continously. I am tired about java JMF. Thx a lot.

To communicate with web cam, you can avoid JMF using the JavaTwain package http://www.gnome.sk
This package enables you to connect to your camera or scanner directly from a java application.
If you just want to see how Java Twain works with your scanner or camera:
- java (1.2 or higher for Windows, 1.3 or higher for Mac OS X) has to be installed on your computer
- a scanner or camera has to be installed on your computer
- download the trial package from http://www.gnome.sk
- unzipp it
- go to the examples directory of the unzipped package
- in Windows: doubleclick the runExampleShow.bat
- in MacOS:
- open the Terminal window
- change the working directory to the examples
- run .sh file (type ExampleShow.sh or sh ExampleShow.sh)
This will pop up the Twain Source Selection user interface. There, all your scanners and cameras which do have a twain driver should be listed. (About 90% of scanners and cameras on the market do have a twain driver for Windows, only a few do have a twain driver for MacOS.) Select one of them. The user interface of the selected scanner (camera) will appear. Confirm the scanning (you can set the scanning parameters first). The scanned image will be displayed in a separate window. To end the application, close that window.
Running different examples, you can test scanning with hidden UI, saving the scanned image, using ADF, ...

I recently purchased an idea pad S10 with the 160g hard drive and integrated 1.3mp webcam. Problem is, the web cam does nothing but take rudimentary pictures. I was hoping to use it for skype video chats and sending video messages but it appears that I can only operate it much like the simple camera on my cell phone. ANY help that any one can offer would be greatly appreciated...What am I doing wrong? Did I miss something?....Thank you so much folks.

Terrible customer service, and no help with defective camera

This camera (see below) was a Christmas present, and we discovered first last week that it had a manufacturing defect. (one of the small tabs holding the case half together got installed in a pinched way.)
Best Buy has always had fantastic customer service, and we have been very happy. We have spend many thousand dollars in your store every year. So we were sure the store would have a solution.
We took it in to your store #1423 on Curtner in San Jose to try to exchange or replace under warranty.
I understand you sometimes you are not able to help a customer, but this email is first about the shock I got when I spoke with Megan in customer service.
As many customers in Silicon Valley, I am an engineering manager, and we have performed destructive testing on many of our own products. The defect on this camera is obviously a manufacturing defect, and not possible to be caused by poor handling. This is very obvious.
Megan told me with other employees as well as my son listening next to me that I was a liar, and that the damage was caused by abuse, and not a defect. I tried to explain that was not possible, and she interrupted me, and again said that i was not telling the truth, and that the assembly error was caused by us.
I then asked if it was possible to have the matter reviewed by the store manager, and she responded she was the store manager.
I left with the camera, and the matter unresolved, and had to explain to my son that I was not a liar, and that Megan must be wrong and "some people just have a bad day sometimes".
I will not be spoken to with insults like that, and I can no longer go to your store with my kids, and if my employees treated any customer the way Megan did, I would make sure she received training to correct this. If the store manager have this attitude to customers, the entire organisation usually follows, and I will not be a customer in a store like that.

Low memory warning with Web Cam

I've just installed a Web Cam pro on my wife's Sony laptop. The Creative Can Centre works OK and we can see the image but soon after the program starts a message comes up low memory. The lap top is running Vista. How to resolve this?

Yahoo Msger with Web-cam view support

Does anyone know of any other client besides Gyach Enhanced that allows web-cam viewing using Yahoo Messenger? I am unable to compile Gyach Enhanced and I have not found another client that supports this. If you have been able to compile Gyach Enhanced on Arch could you please provide me the details? Any help will be appreciated.

I have libgtkhtml-2.6.3-2 and it seems to be located in /opt/gnome/include/gtkhtml-2.0/libgtkhtml . Does anyone have any suggestions on getting this to compile or how to edit the PKG_CONFIG_PATH ? I attempted GTKHTML_LIBS=/opt/gnome/include/gtkhtml-2.0/libgtkhtml but I still receive the same error.

I'm in need of some help. I've only worked with web services some few weeks. I have two web services that I want to access from J2ME.
Both works nice in regular Java (J2SE). I use axis so with the help of WSDL2Java I got a working client.
One of them has four operations

i was wandering if you manage to successfully generate the stubs through the wireless toolkit at the end? i am currently having similar problem (i.e., trying to generate stub files based on wsdl from axis)? it seems that the WTK can only handle document/literal format, and so i change the wsdl to that. however, now it complains that it can't handle more than one input part in the message, (which is similar to the problem you had). so did you manage to find a solution to that, or J2ME simply does not support more than one arguement as the input?

Help with Web Authentication

Having a couple of issues with web authentication, and not getting much help from Cisco TAC. Basically, I'm trying to set up different login pages for each WLAN (so far I have two) with a 4402 controller running 5.1.151.
For one WLAN, I'm using the internal (default) login page with the following modifications: Cisco Logo is hidden, custom Headline and custom Message. User authentication is done through RADIUS. This works great, but every time I reboot the controller, my custom Message disappears and I get the generic Cisco message, which I don't want. When I add the custom message, I make sure to click Apply and Save Configuration.. don't know if this is a bug or not, anyone else seeing this?
For the second WLAN, because I need a different login page, I've tried using a customized downloaded login page and also an external web page.
For the external web authentication, the documentation says you don't need a pre-authentication ACL and yet without this, the redirect doesn't work. Does anyone have this working without an ACL? Also, the sample login page provided by Cisco does not work and I have no clue what code is needed for the username and password credentials to be passed on to WLC for RADIUS authentication.
As for the customized downloaded login page, I've gotten a sample page from Cisco which they've said they do not support and this page has several issues which I can't seem to get around: it redirects users to the generic welcome page (which we don't want), and does not prompt the user when they enter incorrect credentials (though I can tell the code for this is there).
So, I'm wondering if anyone has either an external or internal login page that is working properly and is willing to point me in the right direction?

We have had some similar issues with the controllers not telling user they have used the right username/password, but have solved it. Whether it will help or not we can let you have a copy of our login.tar file if you want, just stick your email address in a reply.
As far as I know, there is only one place to enter a re-direct page, which is in the config for the default web auth page and all web auth methods use this re-direct...that is our experience at least.

I am in need of some serious help with my camera

I have a new computer and of course I was trying to put my camera (Live! Cam Video IM (VF0220) on this computer.
I do not have the disk for this camera so I went on the site and tried downloading the driver along with the application for the camera.
None of these worked whatsoever.
I was up very late last night dealing with trying to find the right download for this camera to set it up on my computer and none of the drivers or applications that is on the site work for my computer.
Whenever I try and hook up my camera to the computer, it goes thru that found new hardware wizard thing and of course since I do not have the disk, I can't do this.
I have downloaded the drives and applications, restarted and restarted my computer several times over and NOTHING has gone right with showing that the thing is set up on my computer.
Now mind you, it shows in my computer that it is on there, but for some stupid reason, it doesnt want to show that my camera is on cause of course its not wanting or letting it download the camera on here.
Can someone tell me where can I find the RIGHT DOWNLOAD to hook up my camera so that I can stop looking on other site for the right one?
I mean cmon, it should have the right one for the camera that I have, but you guys dont seem to have it.
And please do not tell me to go to that support thing cause I have done that and it aint working whatsoever.
I have never had a problem with this company whatsoever with your cams much less your microphones cause they have all done me pretty good so far, but this is unbelievable how this is making me get so aggravated today.
All I need is one simple link to get the right download for my camera.
If anyone has this camera and does have the download to install it onto your computer, please feel free to share it with someone whose going thru a time with trying to get it on theirs.

ok well dont uncheck the song just delete the song you dont want from your play list and the song your brother dosent want from his playlist so that if u delete it from the playlist you'll still have the song in the libary but the only time u uncheck and check the songs is when your updating songs onto your ipod and so and so....but still...just make sure for saftey you just delete the songs you dont like from your playlist not from the libabry and checking and unchecking is just temeraly distortion so make u only use it when ur updateing new songs on your ipod or iphone etc.
