Help with wireless setup

Question

i am new to macs and need help choosing the wireless hardware that i will need... if someone could make me a list of exactly what i need i would greatly appreciate it.... i have a black macbook if that makes a difference

Any of the major brands out there should work fine - get a wireless router, so it does both jobs at the same time (router + wireless access point). Personally, I DO use Linksys, since I've found them to work great for me at various locations (I support local businesses in town). DLink is the brand I've had issue with.
I take it you've got broadband and the modem the provider gave you. The only thing you should need is the wireless router. The wireless router will allow 2 things: Multiple user capability at your location (wired), and wireless. Ensure you set up security (WEP) as a minimum on the wireless. This prevent others from accessing your network when within range. WEP security isn't bulletproof, but it's a start. I'm sitting here at a business right now, where 4 of the 7 networks in this building are wide open to me. Convenient for me, but an 'oops' on their part. I've used their networks in the past to gain access to the internet, when the provider here was down.
