Had to do a full wipe and I'm struggling to get all the system drivers back installed properly. I have been following a few other post here that had similar problems but their solutions don't seem to do it :(

Boot issues with x79a-gd45 (8d) and n680gtx 4gd5/0c no bios splash screen

I have system
with
x79a-gd45 (8d) and
n680gtx 4gd5/0c
16gb ram out of 4 modules
vertex3 ssd
win7 64 en updated everything to the latest version.
during boot i get b2 b4 and 92 messages but not bios splash screen.
When doing a test with an old ati card the system shows splah screen all is fine.
I have 4 systems like this all behaving the same
any ideas

Hello I updated the bios, was not neccesarry but problems remains.
cleared the cmos several times.
I have to inform you that i'm building 4 similar systems all suffering from the same problem.
During boot there is a black boot screen not splash screen. and on the top left a cursor and in the bottom right b2 b4 and 92 messages.
When I install and old ati x1050pro all is ok during boot I see the splash screen and i'm able to enter the bios.
boot time approx 20 sec.
when running the system with the msi n680gtx boot times are back to 2 min and a long period with only the black boot screen and the bios codes.
As suggested I tested the card in a other system. Motherboard is asus. And voila I get a splash screen.
STRANGE THING IS THAT THIS SCREEN IS NOT RESISED BUT IS I GUESS 800 X 600 AND CENTERED IN THE SCREEN.
Also after several reboots I could not get a screen filled splash screen.
Can this be a video card bios issue ?

Msi x79a-gd45 plus and Dolby Digital Live

I bought a pair of Astro A50's to enjoy surround sound music and gaming. I have surround for music but with gaming you need Dolby Digital Live to get 5.1 or 7.1 surround sound with this headset. I have a msi x79a-gd45 plus, now does anyone know if DDL is compatible with my on-board sound card? Apparently you can download DDL for 5 dollars and I'd love to for the sake of surround gaming, but only if it actually works with my card.

Have you checked with the Realtek website for that application?

X79A-GD45 Plus wont load windows with RAID mode

Hi all, I have this issue,
I have use this mobo for a year without any problems. I have attached C: system in port 0, and a 5 disk in the following ports (1-5) in RAID0, I dont remember the Intel i7 processor model. But like I said never had a problem
Yestarday I change the box from coolermaster to silverstone, so I took the mobo, i7, power supply, HDs, etc, and I did a fresh install windows 7 64 ultimate on the new silverstone
My problem is after the new win7 install, all MCI drivers from the original DVD, all windows updates, create RAID0 (ctrl I), bios in RAID mode, and everything configured OK, windows wont start, I get to windows logo, then the machine crash and reboot again
Also today I did a new win7 64 professional install and this time I use all the update drivers from MSI website and still can load windows, keep crashing when win logo appears
This happens in RAID mode with all 5 disks connected, even when they are not connected
AHCI and ide load windows and works perfect
I cant understand what is the problem, I will appreciate is some one can help me

UPDATE: I think i did the win7 install when BIOS was on RAID mode, can this cause not loading windows? should be done on IDE or ACHI ?

X79A-GD45 PLus (8D) with 4930k will not boot

Hi - just put together a brand new X79A-GD45 Plus (8D) with 4930k tonight and ... a big fat nothing so far! Never had it this bad before
Its on my desk, open with a PSU (Be Quiet pure power 530), graphics card (AMD 6870) and 1 stick of 2GB corsair XMS 3 ram in DIMM1 ... power phase lights come on on pressing the power button, GPU fan spins, PSU fan spins but nothing after that, no beeps, no monitor action. Tried no ram, different RAM (up to 4x4GB, up to 4x2GB) in various slot combos, no GPU, different PSUs (OCZ 600, Corsair HX-1000), different GPUs (GTX 460, 7970) ... still nothing! Ram, GPUs and PSUs come from other PCs I have available that work fine ... (the kids wont be happy I have gutted theirs to try to get this working )
Tried cmos clear, both cold boot jumpers (just in case!) ... so I figure maybe the BIOS needs updating and the spec blurb said it can be done via usb ....
So, I get the latest MSI BIOS which is an exe and which wants to run on a USB stick and WONT run on any of my other PCS as it ain an MSI board, of course it wont matter anyway as there's no sign of it booting in the first place ... DSR time unless there's a trick to getting this one going with some help from here maybe .....

"was told to contact Intel" Whoever said that is a moron, Intel has nothing to do with MB not having a later BIOS to support the CPU. The only way Intel would be concerned is if it was an Intel manufactured/marketed MB. At the very least Amazon should have offered to update the BIOS and it only should have cost you shipping back to Amazon for that. Since MSI no longer puts the sticker on the the BIOS chip with the BIOS version on it the only way to come close to what BIOS the MB has is by the S/N:.

It may be an annoyance for you but your situation would be the same for any MB manufacturer.
There are plenty of us that build our own PC that have had to get an earlier CPU or have a shop to update the BIOS for later CPU support. I've had to do that at 2 or times myself and was lucky enough to be able to borrow a CPU each time and it only cost me shipping for the CPU which was pretty cheap. I took it in stride as it's one of the hazards encountered when building your own PC. There's no one you can blame in particular for that. It happens and you have to deal with however you might need to the same as any other minor tribulations in your lifetime.

I've noticed that once you miss a call on FaceTime on a desktop Mac, it won't work properly again until you restart the machine.
I sent in Feedback so we'll see how that goes.

MSI X79A-GD45 Plus Odd USB problems...

I'm having some odd issues with my MSI X79A-GD45 Plus... The system overall works well, and other than these little nagging annoyances the machine works.
I'm looking for any other suggestions you all might have of this issue.
Every so often when I plug a device into the USB 3.0 ports the devices are not recognized. This ranges from flash drives to USB headsets. Rebooting the machine does not solve this. I have to shut down completely and cold boot to get the ports back up and running. It matters not if I use the front panel ports or the rear. All the while my keyboard and mouse which are in the rear USB 2.0 ports never fail to work.
I am going to plug the front panel into the USB 2.0 headers on the mainboard just to test and see if I get the same results, I'm thinking that should tell me weather or not the motherboard or the front panel is the culprit.
That aside any other suggestions would be very much appreciated.
One other thing and I am not sure if this is related to my issue... Most of the time when I boot the machine, the text for the POST messages are very large, like real zoomed in. If I go to the BIOS when this happens the BIOS is also way zoomed in and it is very slow/unresponsive. If I want to use the BIOS I have to restart the machine until I get the text normal looking, even then the BIOS seems kind of slow compared to my last MSI board (990FXA-GD80) which had this same type of click BIOS. This phenomena happened both with the BIOS the board came with and with the updated BIOS I installed to fix a sound issue.
Again not sure if that has anything to do with the USB thing but I wanted to put that here just in case the issues are related.

X79A-GD45 PLUS no post -- Intel Xeon E-2603

I am building a system with the following and doesn't post
E-2603
8GB memory
128GB SSD + 500GB HD
MSI board S/N : 601-7760-040B1301290304
The 3 LEDs for CPU_IO, CPU_PHASE, DRAM are glowing meaning everything is fine from the board power stdpt.
I am not sure the version of the BIOS but the board doesn't support E-2603 Xenon processor.
Any suggestions in the next level of debug...

Yes. Sell it and purchase a CPU that is supported. MSI stopped putting green stickers on the chips that had the BIOS version printed on them, so it makes it harder to determine what is installed.
Just a guess, but I believe if I read it right, the manufacture date is Jan. of 2013, but that information isn't going to help for a CPU that isn't going to be supported anyway.

X79A-GD45 Plus (NO POST. NO VIDEO)

Hello, everyone!
I have recently purchased a new MSI X79A-GD45 Plus "military class 3" motherboard, and can not seem to get it to post. Everything turns on. Fans spin. Pretty blue LEDs all over.. none of which appear to be warning or error lights. Nice whirring sound, then tick as hard disk powers on. However, there is no beep when I attach a speaker, and no display coming in over the monitor.
Does anything stand out about my setup that could cause some sort of weird behavior? I've double-tested the CPU and RAM as working in a friends machine running a board from another brand. I've also tried another known-working (450 watts) PSU and another known-working graphics card that doesn't require additional power from the PSU.

The other power supply I ended up trying to use the day of my last post was some random brand 550W that didn't have a proper hookup for the video card and may or may not have worked in the first place. So, that was ruled out.
Instead, my friend unhooked his even fancier Corsair and we plugged it to my setup with and without the additional molex for the video card slots. Same result.
I've attached some pictures of my setup and the state of the LEDs on the board when it is running. My GTS 450 isn't pictured here. It was used that day to test, but then we put in one of his known working cards for further testing.
Neither him or I are novices at this by any means. We've been building our own setups for years. But this is the strangest situation either of us have ever encountered. I'm now reduced to wondering about the most random of problems. Is this huge heatsink causing a problem? I've never used one this big before. Did I use the wrong motherboard screws? My case came with a huge assortment of black screws and the ones I ended up using fit easily and screwed all the way into the mount risers. Could it be that I have the worst luck in the world and have actually board 3 bad motherboards in a row from two different brands.
I'm starting to really worry here as I'm running out of ideas and time to return things.

X79A-GD45 Plus refuses manual voltage overclock?

Hello everyone, I registered over here to ask this question and see if anyone else is having the same issue.
I currently have an i7 3930k installed in my GD45 Plus, I bought the board for its reasonable price and 8-DIMM support. I was pretty happy with it until I discovered this "issue".
Leaving most settings on auto and using the Turbo+Vdroop method (C'mon MSI, would it kill you to add offset overclocking?), 87.5% Vdroop control and +250 on the core override voltage I am able to stress test for 30 minutes to an hour at 4.6ghz before crashing, the CPU is just at the very edge of stability. Load voltage settles around 1.364V with this setup, which is very very low for SB-E chip at that clock speed.
However, if I disable turbo and run a manual clock of 4600mhz things change. All power savings shut off, SA voltage at 1.300V, basically everything opened up as far as power limit/duration settings. It boots to windows fine, but immediately upon loading the CPU the system shuts off and reboots after a few seconds. I tried 4600 at 1.375V... then 1.400V... then 1.450V, all the way up to 1.550V and it has the same effect.
Then I wondered what it would do at stock, sure enough even at 3200mhz stock with a manual voltage the board shuts off immediately once the CPU is loaded up with Prime 95 or IBT.
I am using BIOS revision 17.3, and am about to attempt to downgrade to a previous version to see if that has any effect.
Does anyone have any idea what might be wrong with this thing? This is incredibly disappointing, as I had a very good experience with the X79MA-GD45 mATX board. What is even more disappointing is my garbage (literally the worst board I have ever owned, bar none) ECS X79R-AX Deluxe that doesn't even have a VRM heatsink and needs the BIOS jumper in the reset position to even boot will run the same exact CPU as I am using in the Plus at 4.8ghz all day every day. Really want to get this board working properly as I like everything else about it.

I've gone through literally everything. This is not my first time doing this, and I know good overclocks are possible on a GD45 board as I've done it before with arguably the worst of the bunch. I'm not bugged about voltage, I prefer to stay under 1.500V if possible and would only push past that for quick bench runs.

I did some more experimenting, and I think the BIOS might be incorrectly reporting the voltage. I found that I can run 4400mhz at only 1.150V and 4600mhz at 1.200V, there is no way a 3930k with a 1.341V VID is overclocking by 1000+ mhz undervolted like that. It would make sense, if it was about 0.200V off then running 1.400V would actually be 1.600V and even with the power settings tweaked it would instantly shut down unless I was sub-zero, probably due to the VRM's hitting the 130* thermal protection. I can't think of any other reason it could be behaving like this.

No Sound from MSI X79A-GD45 Plus

I have the MSI X79A-GD45 Plus. I've uninstalled the Realtek drivers and reinstalled them from the Mother Drivers CD and also downloaded one from the MSI website.
Realtek Audio Manager shows speakers are plugged in and work but I hear no sound. I've tried working speakers and headphones.

1) if i buy the MSI X79A-GD45 PLUS that has 3 pci-express can i populate the first and the third slot with graphic card in sli configuration in order to have better air circulation ? the slots are 16,16,8 but the third use the same bus of the second so i don't know if leaving the second solt empty the third will rise to 16x Can you give me some info Thanks

you could populate PCI_E1 and PCI_E6 also according to the manual.. it will be 16/8

Z87-G45 vs X79A-GD45 Plus

I have checked the MSI site and found that X79A-GD45 Plus is one of the newest motherboard who supports 6 cores intel 2011 socket
On the other hand i found that Z87-G45 is the very new motherboard but supports only 1150 socket
so
If i buy the z87 motherboard then how can i buy a compatible 6 core intel processor

You can't. There is no socket 1150 6-core cpu and as it seems there won't be any. If you want more than 4 cores you have to go for socket 2011.

[X79A-GD45 Plus] Secure boot without Windows 8

I'm having trouble using secure boot with the GD45 Plus. I can only get related settings to show up in the bios when enabling Windows 8 mode. This might not be a problem except for it complaining that my graphics card isn't Windows 8 compatible, and then aborting.
I don't care about Windows 8, I just want to boot my own signed bootloader. So my question is, how can I get the firmware to use secure boot without Windows 8 mode, or at least ignore hardware compatibility?

Secure boot could only be use for pure UEFI mode so that means if you want to use this function then you will need to enable the Windows 8 feature,
For your VGA, you either check with your vendor if they got UEFI VGA bios for you to update or you will need to use a new VGA card...
