Help with Zen Vision M 30GB. Won't turn on. Blinking lig

I have a Zen Vision M 30 GB mp3 player that i've had for about 4 months. it has been making realy loud scratching noises for about 3 months and usually loads pretty slows. which is wierd cause i only have about 2,000 songs on there and a couple of videos and pictures.
Today when i tried to charge it and transfer music to my new comp it wouldn't recognize it. When i disconnected my zen from my computer i tried to turn it on and nothing happend. when i hold the switch to the side, the little blue light blinks. I've sent a similar mp3 player back to creative because of a cracked screen and it took a month to get it back. any advice on what i should do to fix it's

I have had my zen vision m for nearly a year, and got the same problem as you just in the last week-it refused to turn on or show any sign of life...except the blue light flickers now and then when I decide to try AGAIN to see if it ll turn on this time. I came on this forum,? charged it from loads of different usb ports, looked at the knowledge base, downloaded and tried to run the firmware, even pushed the reset button...tried eveything that was suggested basically, but still nothing. So I called a representati've...and they say nothing doing, so I have to put it in for RMA or a replacement now.....just hoping my warranty hasnt run out. Try all the things mentioned above, and if nothing works, call them up. Sorry!

  • Help With Zen Vision:M 30G, lost alot of music, "rebuilding" progress bar doesnt fin

I purchased my Zen Vision:M 30GB player about 5 months ago and its been great untill today I turned it on and it froze, so i hit the reset button.
Heres the thingI reset it and that "Rebuilding" progress bar poped up like it has in the past when i hit reset? But this time the progress bar only got about? /6th of the way full, before the unit returned to its normal menu, and i went to look at my music and about 90% of it is gone! Ive done a restart in the past and the rebuilding progress bar would have to fill up all the way before it would go to the normal menu and i had no problems with it then, just today it started doing the thing where it would only go /6th the way. Heres the weird stuff,I went to look at the system information to look how much memory was left and based on the numbers, my 90% of missing music should still be on there somewhere. I tried connecting it to my computer and all the sudden now my computer decides to recognize it but The Creative Media Explorer will say its not connected, that is a first for me too?I tried doing that system recovery thing, where i did the scan disk but that did not help at all. Everytime i try to re-boot or re-start it does that thing where the "Rebuilding" progress bar only goes /6th of the way before it goes back to the normal menu, i think that has somthing to do with it. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated?Message Edited by Lowalkoroc on 03-7-20070:20 PM

I was just about to post a topic about this. I had the same problem and after numerous efforts I decided to follow the "Format (All)" instructions [url="http://forums.creative.com/creativelabs/board/message?board.id=dap&message.id=5530#M5530">here[/url]. After a reformat, a reboot, and a reload of all my songs everything is working again. Thank the Lord and the Creative forums.

  • Zen Vision:M 30GB won't power down; any ide

I've had a 30GB Zen Vision M for a couple of months now! Awesome player, went through the usual round of recognition problems, but it's been working fine of late. My problem is, it won't power down now. When I try to power down, the unit says it's powering down, the dispaly goes black except for the battery icon. And it stops there. The blue backlight on the menu buttons stays on, the battery icon stays on, and eventually it turns off after 5 minutes because of being idle. Not a terrible problem I know, but a real niusance. I am running the most current firmware (have been for a while). I've tried resetting and clean-up. No change. I'm afraid of trying to reinstall the firmware, in case I have the same problem that many others are having, and go from a good player with a power issue, to a player that does nothing. I can't see it being the power switch itself, since it powers up fine, and tries to power down. Any ideas or advice would be greatly appreciated. birder

Looks like you might have to return it if it isn't responding to charging and the reset option. Is it under the 30 days return policy?
OR you could have an RMA so that Creative fixes it and then returns it to you. Here is most of the info:

Hoped that helped a little, and good luck.

  • Zen Vision M: 30g won't turn

Well, I've just about had it with Creative Mp3 players now. I just recently got my Zen Vision; now when I went to turn it on, expecting it to be fully charged from its dead battery, it shows that it hasn't even charged past the red bar. Then, when I go to turn it on, it won't turn on. It won't even turn on while connected to the computer. PLEASE, SOMEBODY TELL ME WHAT TO DO!!!!

Simple Instructions If the device isn t charging, try other ports on your computer. Often computers utilize passi've hubs on the motherboard to increase the number of USB ports; this can mean that the ports on the front of the computer are low power ports that can only put out 00ma and not the required 500ma.
    More Technical Instructions
First you need to check to make sure that the power save is disabled on your USB ports on your computer.
Click Start then Run, and type devmgmt.msc then click OK
    Expand Uni'versal Serial Bus Controllers
Right Click on Each entry in the list that says USB Root Hub and select properties
Go to the Power Management Tab
Uncheck the box that says Allow the Computer to Turn off this device to save power .
Next you need to see if your computer can actually charge a USB device, and where you should plug the device in.
Next click on the Power tab
Check the Hub Information Section and look at the description.
It should say something on the lines of Total Power Available: 500mA per port
If it says something else, then you have a problem and your computer might not be able to charge a USB device.
Now if you find you have one hub listed that has 500ma per port, and the other is something like 00ma. Then use a USB device (mouse, camera, etc) and plug it into each USB port.
When you have a device plugged into a port, you should see it show up in the attached devices window (under the Power tab). Find the ports on your system that are associated with the 500ma capable hub in your system.
Then plug your Zen device into that port.
If the battery of your Zen device is so depleted that it can't turn on, it won t show up in the attached device area but it should start charging.
After a couple of hours try turning on the device while its plugged in, if all goes well it should turn on and now be recognized.
It should show up under the attached devices section under the USB hubs power tab. If the port is working as it should the zen should show up as a pulling 500ma of power.
    Note:
It is normal for the Creative labs device not to be recognized by the PC if the battery is completely dead. If the battery is dead it doesn't have enough power to turn on, so it can't be recognized by the PC.
It doesn't have to be recognized to charge, but it does need to be on a port that "can" charge it.
Untill the device has enough power to turn on it generally charges at a much slower rate. So it often can take much longer for the device to charge to the point where it can turn on, then it will take to charge the rest of the way once it is recognized by the PC. This is generally just a first time problem, as long as your don't drain the battery completly between charges.

  • Zen Vision M (30Gb) will not turn

My Vision:M is 6 months old. I used it last 2 days ago. It won't turn on. I tried connecting it to my PC and tried recharging it - no response from the player. Any suggestions other than throwing it away?

What ubs port or you using? If it is one in the front use one in the rear. It may take some time( few hours) for it start charging if battery is REALLY dead. Or if you have a wall charger for it use that instead. Next option if battery has finally really died from just being worn out (they don't last forever) buy & install a new one? here's http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=akJDRpx6rA8 ? a how to open player (if not under warranty)? here's http://www.infinitybatteries.com/p-4...n-polymer.aspx where to get a new battery.

  • My zen vision m 30gb won't charge or turn on without p

I have had it for about 2 years.
I haven't used it for about a week during which time it has been completely out of battery power. I plug the charger into the mp3 and the the lightning bolt shows on the zen? but even after leaving it on charge for a good few hours overnight when i unplug it, it just goes dead, and won't come on.
I then tried to charge it through the usb on my pc but it gets no power to the player. and therefore w0on't come on.
I then tried resetting the zen and doing the above two again but got the sdame outcome.
So i tried the the recovery method which wiped my zen free of everything ( i had backups, thankfully).
Tried the first two thiong again but to no avail.
I can do the last option which is the firmware option, because i can't connect to a pc.
Has my zen mgone kaput or can it be saved?!
    tHANKS in advance
    Steve

Sounds like you need to replace the battery here's the info to open the player for that? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=akJDRpx6rA8? Here's a link to get a battery for the player? http://www.infinitybatteries.com/p-4...n-polymer.aspx

  • Mp3 player creative zen vision m 30gb doesn t turns on

Hi!! I'm an italian girl!! I got mp3 player some days ago and it doesn t turns on... It turns on only when it s charging with the adapter... Can anyone help me please???

Leave it charging for a while to make sure the battery has enough charge. Also try resetting the player and perhaps update (or reload) the firmware to see if that hel
    ps.
If it still will not turn on then, it is possible there is a problem with your player. It would be best to contact Customer Support in that case (check the "Support" folder of the installation CD for contact details).

  • Zen Vison M 30GB won't s

Hey everyone I got a problem with my player. It does not seem to sync with my computer. I tried uninstalling drivers and reinstalling them however that did not work. Every time I plug in the player I get a message that states windows could not recognize the USB device. The player wont show up on the device manager or on other computers. I figure I might have to wipe the player clean, but I have no idea how to go about doing that. Creative support refuses to help because the player is a little over a year old. Any feedback would be appreciated.
    Thanks

I've had the Zen Vision:M 30gb for a while and it's acting strangely. If I connect the player to a USB port or to a wall charger, it will not charge. It simply turns the player on, but never charges. If connected to USB it will say it is docked, but won't charge.
Any idea what is going on? I've the latest firmware installed and have tried on multiple computers and have gotten the same result. These compures range from XP SP3 to Vista SP. Both systems have the latest drivers installed.
Any help you all can give me would be greatly appreciated.
Is the battery holding a charge? Does the player only work when connected to a source of power?Does the player feel really warm or hot when plugged in? How long have you had the player? The average life of the internal battery is about 3yrs.from date of manufacturing.other than not charging? does the player work as it should?Does the charging icon show?

  • I Need Help With My Zen Vision M 30GB Player ASAP

Tonight i had started deleting of my music folders on my creative zen vision m 30gb player and as it was doing that i accidently disconnected the usb cable from the player. After that the player was froze on the docking mode and i hit the reset button with a paper clip. Then after that for some strange reason my computer does not detect my zen vision m player as being connected to the computer. the docked screen appears on my player but the arrows keep spinning and my pc keeps saying found new hardware mtp device and does nothing but repeat that over and over again. I run windows xp pro service pack 2 with windows media player installed. I really need help asap to resolve this issue and have my pc reconize it normal again where i can access my music folders and playlists again.

The core problem is related to Microsoft Windows Media . To resolve the issue, you need to uninstall MWM v from the Add/Remove Programs. Then it will rollback to MWM v9. Unplug the player from the USB port. Reinstall the supplied software from Creative if you need too. Reboot, plug the device into the USB port. Reinstall the device driver for the MP3 player. Reload the latest firmware. The file can be downloaded at

  • Creative ZEN Vision:M 30gb, Can't dock it....tried everything....Help

Hello , Is there someone out there who knows alot about docking this Zen Vision:M 30GB. I have tried everything by Creative support. I've been working on it for over a month now. The player works fine but when I plug it in to my PC. Nothing happens. I have all updates and I have Windows XP pro. It seems like a driver issue. My Little Zen V has no problem docking, It docks fast , 2seconds everthing opens up nicely. ??????thanks for taking the time to read and write....Message Edited by Wasssupdutch on 03-26-200702:53 PM

Have you solved the problem? If so how? My VM has docked perfectly until I upgraded from USB to USB2. Every other USB device works fine but PC no longer sees the VM. The new hardware wizard pops up and demands a driver and isn't satified by the installation CD. I have uninstalled and reinstalled with no success. Anybody any clues? Thanks.

  • Zen Vision:M 30GB recognition problems...Big t

Hi, 2 days ago i ran into a problem with my Zen. I had to charge it, as the battery was low and had to put some new music on it.. I plugged it into the USB port on my Laptop, where all of it's software is installed. The Zen wasn't recognized. Instead of the charging screen it normally started up with, it started up with the play screen(the screen it shows when a song is playing). I looked at the battery icon in the top right corner, and it wasn't doing anything. I turned the Zen off and started it up again. Nothing changed. I restarted my computer. Nothing changed. I shut down my computer and started it back up again. Nothing changed.
I took it to my desktop computer, a Compaq, and tried it there. It worked, but not how i was expecting it to work. The battery icon started flashing with the little lightning bolt, acknowledging that it was charging. But the play screen was still there. The odd thing with this is, i left the player to charge for several hours. When i came back, the Zen was in some form of idle shut-down. The screen was black, except for the battery icon with the lightning bolt. Oddly enough, he battery bar hadn't filled up anymore than when i left it. Upon unplugging the player though, the Zen turned off. When i turned it back on, the bar had filled up more. It wasn't fully charged though.
I plugged the cable back into it, and this time, the battery icon WASN'T charging. It just had the play screen on. It wasn't doing ANYTHING this time. Frustrated, i went out and bought the wall charger, and now i have a full battery. But it doesn't solve why my computer won't recognize my player.
Today, i un-installed the software that came with the player and re-installed it. It didn't do anything. I installed the software on my desktop computer, and THAT didn't work either. So i came to the website here and used the trouble-shoot guide. That didn't help, and this is where my problem differs from the other posters here who have recognition problems:
Back to my laptop: I have Windows Service Pack 2. I installed Windows Media Player . I went to the Device Manger, like the trouble-shoot guide said to. The kicker: Windows Portable Devices is NOT, i repeat NOT in my Device Manager. Neither does the Creative player either. I clicked on "The player does not appear in Device manager". That link showed me a diagram of a desktop computer, so went back to my desktop computer. I did everything above mentioned, and Windows Portable Devices is not in the device manager of my desktop computer either. Further reading the trouble-shoot guide, i could NOT locate "Other Devices" or "Unknown Devices" in my Device Manger on either desktop or laptop. There's nothing "Creative" related or "Zen" related at all in any of the Device programs.
I don't know what to do. All of the trouble-shoot guides don't discuss my issue at all. Everything is "If an MP3 player is reported working properly in Device Manager, but it is not detected or listed in Windows Media Player or Creative Media Explorer..."
Mine isn't even detected in Device Manager. My Device Manager has nothing regarding my Zen or Windows Portable Devices.
I'm thinking about messing with it in Recovery mode, but i don't want to erase everything i have on here, just to have my player still not work. I'm going to try messing with this at my friend's house to check the cable and the player there too.
But any help regarding my situation would be greatly appreciated. This is driving me crazy.

I tried my uncle's Zen Vision: M 30GB on my laptop and strange things happened. My laptop recognized the player as an unknown device and said i needed to install the MTP driver. I did that, and upon doing so, my laptop recognized my Uncle's player as a Portable device, allowing me to transfer songs to his player. But it STILL doesn't recognize MY player. Email support says i have to send it in for repairs, but i don't know...
    Any luck with you?

  • Zen Vision M 30GB Problems

Zen Vision M 30GB Problems? I have a used Zen Vision M 30 GB. I have?a few questions, along with some problems.
My player has to "rebuild" at least twice a day, is that normal?
When a song is playing, is the song name, length of song, etc supposed to be displayed?
    Now the major problem:
I can not get either my laptop or desktop to recognize my player.
On the desktop (Windows XP?SP3)?it seems to constantly refresh the Device Manager as an MTP device. while it continues to do this I can see the device is giving me a Code 0.
On the laptop (Windows Vista) it searches for a driver, but the search fails. It does not continuously refresh, but still gives me the same "Code 0 This device can not start" message.
On both computers it says "Docked" on the player when plugged in and also charges.
The player plays well once it makes it through the "Rebuilding" stage.
I thought about formatting it, but?I was not sure that would do any good with this problem. Plus there was a lot of music left on the player from the previous owner that I rather like.
Any help would be greatly appreciated,? Thanks

No rebuilding that often if not normal. You seem to be having symptoms of hardri've issues. Now have you done a cleanup>reboot on the player?CHARGE PLAYER BEFORE DOING THIS? http://forums.creative.com/creativel...ap&thread.id=3? That may help with the constant need to rebuild(kinda like defragging the dri've) Use a REAR usb port when connecting to the computer & try using a different usb cable. DO NOT CHOOSE RELOAD FIRMWARE ON THE RECOVERY MENU

:Zen Vision:M 30Gb not connected (!) and I'm becoming crazyl Hi,
I tried for week to do something with the Vision 30Gigs of my son, and I don't no what to do now, maybe open the window and throw the zen..
No, seriously, he still remains in not connected and in Control Panel, system, device manager, always with the yellow sign blinking and tells that no driver is loaded.
I'm in XP SP3, removed WinMediaPlayer to install the WMP 9 because the 0 is not compatible with SP3 I think,
The zen is automatically in Recovery mode when boot, because I have tried all the possible and I have erased the firmware by "reload firmware" but without being connected to the computer,
I tried the recovery tool, but not connected...
So, I'm sure that some guru has the solution, and I'm convinced that this zen is not dead!
Thanks in advance for your precious help.

You're right the Zen is not dead. It needs a firmware to work & it doesn't need to be connected to the computer to erase it. It does however need to be connected to a computer to reload it. First you will need to install WMP0. http://www.filehippo.com/download_wi...edia_player/9/
You then need to charge the battery When its charged & turned back on you will choose Format>Cleanup. You then connect player to see that Windows can see the device. Once you can see that it is recognized in Device Manager you will Disconnect it from the computer (use rear usb ports)
You will need to download the firmware file for the player to the desktop & open the file.(do this before you connect the player again)http://support.creative.com/Products...me=MP3+PlayersOn the player before you connect it to the computer that has the firmware file open & ready to go you will choose Reload firmware connect the player to the computer(use rear usb port) choose your language & let it run. (the autoplay window may open DO NOT CLOSE IT)
The reason it did not work before with WMP9 is that the driver is a part of WMP0.
