Has this problem started happening recently or since the beginning?
Try the card in another computer to determine if the card is faulty.
To verify there are no driver fragments left over causing issues I'd suggest uninstalling the current graphics card drivers, running >>Driver Sweeper<<, and then trying with the drivers from the MSi website >>here<<.
What power supply do you have? Post full specs including amps on the +12v rail/s.

I Have a new Satellite L305D-S5934 and from the beginning I've been having some problems, whenever something seems to be "too much" for it to handle, like installing programs whit other windows open, or like using google earth, it just goes black, and in order to turn it off I have to keep the power button pressed, or while watching a video, everything frizzes but the sound goes on, ans other similar things.
The system recognyzes it as Live Kernel Event, here's the nfo it dives me:

  • Radeon 5850 twin frozr 2 GSOD issues

    Hello everyone,
It's my first post so let me introduce me : i'm a 25 years old french programmer living in Montpellier France.
I've got a Radeon 5850 twin frozr II from a friend but i've got some GSOD prob with furmark and games.
Some games like skyrim can be playable with no GSOD but battlefield III has GSOD within 1 or 2 minutes playing...
I've tried to undervolt my vcore with afterburner and furmark can work but no games work (black screen and driver crash).
I've tried to overvolt my vcore but the GSOD come instantly in games with that.
So my question is simple : Is there a solution (new bios from msi maybe)? I've got an Q6600, 4gb ram on a gygabite EP45-DSR3 mobo and the latest drivers from amd.
    Thank you for your consideration.

    ok ok.
So I've got 4 gB of OCZ platinum DDR2 6400 (2.1V), my PSU is the corsaire HX620 with three +12V rails rated at 18A each. 3 DD, 2 DVD writers, 1 usb keyboard, 1 usb mouse.
My Q6600 is OC @ 3.2Ghz (FSB 400 en cpu vcore @ 1.41V to be totally stable).
I've tried to get back my cpu to stock, but it has changed nothing. For example, I've just finished a session of skyrim and there was no prob (2 hours) and just after I've tried Battlefield 3 and I've got a GSOD 2 minutes after start playing...
To resume, with or without overclocking, this changes nothing for the GSOD.
Before the twin frozr 5850, i've got a geforce GTX275 twin frozr OC and there was no problems...

  • MSI Afterburner and voltage setting + 5850 Twin Frozr II

Seems Afterbuner is not working with the Radeon HD 5850 Twin Frozr II.
When I change the voltage or the settings didn't apply or the voltage applyed is 0.935v and the card crash 10s after.
    I tried: Afterburner 1.41, 2.0, 2.1, 1.51, 1.60, 1.61 and 2.2 BETA X
No way to apply the voltage I want.
Is it a know issue ? how to solve it ?
fyi: I tried Afterburner + Asus 6850 DCU and it's working fine, no problems

perhaps this vga doesn't support voltage adjustment.

  • 5850 Twin Frozr 2 Problem?

    Hi All,
I'm new to the forum but my 5850 Twin Frozr 2 today seems to have failed in some way. I am getting multicolour dots around my screen and on web pages stuff flashes and moves about.
Should I assume my card is dead and is there anything I can do fix it?
    Here is a screenshot:

Sorry did not read through before posting.
I have put my system specs below and here is what my diagnosis so far:
    Problem:
Started getting black flickers in the middle of a game of Supreme Commander
Exited to windows and how have blue and green dots on task-bar and flickering web pages.
    Fixes Attempted:
Checked temps and seem ok and removed all dust from card.
Also tried heating it up a bit and didn't seem to do much.
    Any other ideas much appreciated?

  • Brand new 5850 twin frozr II idle fan speed loud!

I've just got a new one of these and just put it in and the fans idling at 55%
idle temps are 30-31c. So why the hell would you fan spin up to 55% to cool down from 30c
I had a sapphire 5850 and I had an xfx for crossfire which busted so I opted for the msi twin frozr becuase it has had many good reviews
I can put the fan speed down to 22% in afterburner but as soon as I put it back to auto it goes straight back to 55%.
I have tried un installing CCC + drivers and removing all ATI related folders then re downloading from the ati website but that doesn't fix it.
    Any ideas?

Explain the issue to msi tech here: http://support.msi.com/
they can send you updated vbios to resolve it

I've tried the live update utility and it doesn't pick up any new BIOS for it.
No where else I can get them from as its saturday and they only reply monday-friday
If the card is working fine otherwise, then have some patience and contact MSI support for the updated BIOS, as Svet already recommended.

  • 5850 twin frozr artifacting!

My 5850 that I've had about 8 months is displaying some nasty artifacts.  It started when playing 3D games; it looked like vectors were shooting everywhere.  It does this in every game I own at any quality setting.  I haven't tried to see if the game, or my computer, will crash because I exit out of the game after just a few moments since it's obvious something is wrong.
Also, it is artifacting in videos.  I'm getting little specks all over the video window, yet everything else on the screen is clear.
I am running at stock clock settings with latest BIOS and drivers.  Temps seem fine, currently idling at 26C with 30% fan.
Has my card died?  I already had to RMA my first one a month after I got it, but for a different problem.

The problem remains with everything at stock settings.

  • Help gtx 680 twin frozr whining

Hi everyone. I've recently built a new system with the following specs
    Fractal r4 design
    Z87x d3h motherboard
    i7 4770k
Antec true power new 650 watts
And gtx 680 twin froze with 2gb
My only problem seems to be bad coil whine however this never occurs during stress tests like furmark. Normally it occurs in games like doshonoured when I don't cap the fps to say 75. Even worse is StarCraft 2 particularly during the campaign. Constant loud whining. Is there anything I canto fix this? And why doesn't it always occur when the GPU is stressed and only in some programs? Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the help I do remebeber in my old system with a HD 7850 sapphire oc and the same antec to 650 PSU there was a mild level of coil whine during the menus of oblivion and also in dota. Now with the 680gtx its gotten worse in dota and sc2 and has stopped in oblivion strangely. Could this point to the psu being more likely the issue? Or is whine in GPUs a really common thing?

  • AMD HD5850 Twin Frozr II, I screwed up

    Hey whats up
Just bought an AMD 5850 Twin Frozr II yesterday.
The max frequency available in CCC/MSIAB was only 775 mhz. But I wanted more.
I saved its original bios using GPU-Z 0.5.3
    Opened it with RBE 1.2.8
Went to Additional Features -> Increase overdrive limit -> Method 1 (Hash) -> Load...
Loaded the signature file from asus's reference 5850 with unlocked clocks
Saved the bios and flashed it using atiwinflash 2.0.1.14
    Reboot
And here goes nothing. Just a black screen.

  • GTX580 Twin Frozr II OC BIOS File Help Please

Hii guys!  I just got my GTX 580 Twin Frozr II OC installed today and I'm really excited but I'm having a bit of a problem.
I've tried flashing the BIOS using the MSI HQ USB Flasher but the program says that the BIOS file I downloaded from the MSI website is not a valid file. Live Update 5 can't seem to detect my motherboard model or BIOS Version and, possibly, as a result does not find any updates for the card. Also, the MSI website mentions an EXE file that's supposed to be in the BIOS file archive, yet there is no EXE file in the archive.
I need to flash the BIOS (?) because my graphics card keeps crashing when playing games.  Most times: black screen, followed by the card reverting back to stock speeds. Twice, however, the screen got completely messed up and I had to hard reset the computer. That was when I set the voltage to 1150. And yes, even at stock speeds and the stock voltage (which is how I have the comp running atm), the card crashes.. just after a longer while. It's also not a heat problem because my in-game temps stay around 65ish.
I'm sure the rest of my computer is stable because most of the components have been replaced including the old PSU I had; to a Corsair TX 750W.
I feel like I'm missing something obvious, because flashing the GPU BIOS is new to me.
But, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks a lot Svet! I was able to flash the BIOS without any problems, however I quickly returned to the old BIOS ROM because the graphics card was much more unstable with the "new" BIOS. (Which ironically also has a lower BIOS version number than the one that came with the card). Overclocking at all would really mess up the screen and at stock speeds (800, 1600, 2048) it would crash. I reinstalled Windows (went from 7 Home Premium x64 to 7 Ultimate x64) because it got messed up during some installations I was doing and now... everything's running like butter. :\
After booting it up, I reinstalled all my games and every single one of them runs fine. I still get some really bad FPS in Splinter Cell Conviction, which is upsetting because I was looking forward to maxing it out and playing it at 60.. but whatevs.
I've tested the card also using
Assassin's Creed (From 1 to Revelations)
    Battlefield 3
    Dragon Age 2
    Deus Ex: Human Revolution
    Crysis 2
    Saints Row The Third
    NFS Run,
    and Arkham City.
The card has a lot of trouble playing Arkham City with Physx on or with any of the DX11 features and I'm surprised I'm getting poor FPS at all in some games because I'm actually only using a 1600x900 display. I'm not complaining because all the other games run maxed out pretty well; and the card seems stable. I was also able to overclock it, which was tricky until I decided not to overclock the memory - so that the Afterburner values are 1150 (voltage), 900, 1800, 2048, 85 (fan). It looks like if I overclock the memory at all the graphics card crashes. Was a tad disturbing as I read that others have gotten better overclocks but... again, the important thing is that it's stable and running well. But, out of curiosity, why can't it overclock higher like others have managed to get it to?
    Two questions though:
I'm using Nvidia's 290.36 Beta drivers - is that okay? Or should I only use the drivers from MSI's site?
(To note, I've used all of Nvidia's drivers and they all appear to deliver the same performance across all games. By "all drivers" I mean the 280.26, 285.62, 285.79, as well as the 290.36.)
How long is the standard warranty on this card?
Again, thanks Svet for pointing me in the right direction.  :D
I'm even more excited now for SW: The Old Republic.
Aphax my GPU's serial number is "602-V255-060B1107208512" - why do you ask though?

  • HELP - MSI 560-TI Twin Frozr II/OC Urgent

    Hello,
     I purchased an MSI-IT 560 Twin Frozr II OC 1GB DDR5 on December 19, 2011.
Yesterday February 11, 2012 I was on the computer when suddenly the graphics card started making a strange noise and even began to quit smoking just like that. I turned off the computer right not to aggravate the situation further, I removed the graphics card and saw it was with some visible damage, and that when pulled down a small component of what it was black.
She was connected properly, with the two power cables, the temperature was very good, and not have conducted any kind of overclocking.
I wanted to ask this community to help clarify what happened, if you can do something, and if the warranty covers this.
    Was taken as the photo:
Please help me, I do not know what happened, this board has only two months is very strange that happens.
    Greetings

Contact your reseller, they will either exchange the card under warranty for you, or return it to MSI for repair.
    Ok, thanks
And certainly, the store will cover the warranty?
Another thing I forgot to say but I have a UPS connected to the PC.
I've been watching, and saw that it was not just the condenser that burned, saw the circuits that are around and are also burnt and the plate where it is burned is a little swollen.
    Thanks

  • Help flashing UEFI bios for my GTX 680 Twin Frozr III 2GD5/OC

    Hi,
I am very new to flashing graphics card bios, so i need some instructions as to how to update my bios to the latest UEFI GOP version. I am using a Z77 platform with Windows 8 Pro and I'm looking forward to the super fast boot times
Here is my current bios file: **http://www.filehosting.org/file/details/434943/GK104.rom**
Here is my serial number: 602-V282-020B1205147435
My model: MSI GTX 680 Twin Frozr III 2GD5/OC
    Thank you

I have followed the steps you said, but had a few hiccups on the way:
    1) when i was flashing the rom, i was told in the command line dialog box that the pci vendor identification/verification was mismatched, i was prompted to override verification and i pressed "y". Is that ok ? In total, i had to press "y" 2 times as opposed to once as said in your instructions.
    2) After flashing bios, I restarted and disabled CSM (compatibility mode) support. My PC booted fine and i reached the lock screen. But when i entered the password, I was introduced to a black screen with only the cursor showing over it. Then my pc crashed with the error IRQ_NOT_LESS_THAN_OR_EQUAL_TO
    3) I restarted and logged back again, but was introduced to the same black screen again, but i could gain access to the control panel with CLT+ALT+DEL and it was filled with error reporting tasks. I restarted the third time and finally could log back in without any crashes or black screens, but windows came up with a prompt that it had run into an error and needs to report it.
I am suspecting that it had something to do with the driver or the verification.
    PLEASE HELP. Thanks

  • GTX 580 OC Help Needed (N580GTX-M2D15D5/OC) | SPLIT [Twin Frozr II OC]

    Hello Svet !
One month ago, I bought two N580GTX-M2D15D5/OC. One was OK, the other one had stock frequencies. Made an exchange. The third card was the same : stock frequencies, and unstable with correct OC BIOS, even with adjusting the voltage.
So, i returned the two M2D15D5/OC and got two N580GTX Twin Frozr II OC. Frequencies are OK now (core clock @822,shader clock @1645, memory clock @2138), but one card is crashing my computer when I play (I'm in SLI). But everything is OK in OCCT for example.
So I decided to check the voltages with AfterBurner.
One card is at 1,025V and the other one, the faulty one is at 1,000V.
So I tested with AfterBurner to put it at 1,025, and now, everything looks stable.
Could it be possible to have a new BIOS with the correct voltage? Because I've been following this thread since the beginning, and I understood that it can be corrected with BIOS update (by the way, I compared the 2 backuped BIOS of my cards, and they are the same... that's what I don't understand... is voltage really written in BIOS ?)
So here it is a summary of my needs :
        core voltage @ 1025
        core clock @822
        shader clock @1645
        memory clock @2138
Here are the serial numbers :

MSI is following my steps, it will do the same as your current installed VBIOS vcore boost from 1V to 1025mV.
If you flash the newest MSI's VBIOS it will bring you nothing more than your current custom one,
but opposite you will lost extra performance.
Check and compare reports: [look especially for last 3 lines with performance calculations]
