Help: wrong colors when playing a iDVD in a domestic deck (plays ok on MAC)

Hi there:
For some reason, after burning a DVD using the iDVD 5.0.1 software all I get is wrong colors when playing it in ANY DVD player. If I watch the very same disk on my G5 Mac, everything turns out ok!
Is it a codec problem?? It seems this problems sudenly began AFTER I installed the Final Cut Pro on my disk.
Any help on this would be highly apreciated, please!

What is your workflow?
Source material? DV I imagine? Something analog through a converter?
What are you editing with? FCP?
How did you output from your editing program? In other words, what did you bring into iDVD? Don't just say a QuickTime file... is it a DV QT file? Try sending this file back to tape and see what happens.
There is something funky in your workflow. I dont think it's an iDVD issue. As example, I edit in DV, NTSC. My preset in FCP is for DV, NTSC. I output from FCP as a DV QT reference file. I could send this same sequence back to tape. I am going to guess that somewhere/somehow, you are losing or masking the color channel. But this is getting a bit beyond my meager knowledge and just a guess at that. For the short term I would print your sequence back to tape. Assuming that the tape plays back correctly, import from the new tape and create a DVD using that sequence and see what happens.

IPod Touch shows the wrong artwork when playing songs

Recently my iPod Touch has just decided to display all the wrong artwork when playing songs. For example I will be listening to Chris Brown and It will be showing a picture of a Jay-Z album. How do I fix this?!
I've read that all you have to do is 'uncheck "display album artwork" in the music preferences section when your iPod is connected and click "apply". Then sync your iPod.'.. however I manually add the songs onto my iPod so I can't uncheck the music option as it's already unchecked!
Please help, my iPod looks so ugly showing the wrong artwork lol

First:

- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost

least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Unsync all music and resync
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.

Wrong colors when printing to HP Colorlaser Jet 4550 PCL 5c

I just upgraded from Labview 5.1.1 to Labview 6.1 on a Windows 95 Compaq Notebook. All the plot colors in 8 plot XY Graph indicator printed correctly on our network HP Colorlaser Jet 4550 PCL 5c using Labview 5.1.1. When I print the graph in Labview 6.1, sometimes some of the plot colors in the graph are wrong. In fact one of the plot switches color about 2/3 of the way across the X-axis. What is really weird is that the plot colors always print correctly in the legend. The VI prints the graph programically, but I also get the same inconsistent results when I copy the XY Graph to a new VI and use the print window comand in the file menu.
In my Labview preferences I use standard printing with colors and di
thering is turn on. The colors are correct when I programically save the front panel to either bmp, jpeg, or png files.
What causing this strange behavior?

Thanks for your suggestion; however, it did not solve the problem. I set the line thickest to the maximum. Then I tried with and without dithering. The results were still inconsistent. Sometimes I got the correct colors; othertimes, some plots had the wrong colors. I attached two gif files as examples. The first shows the correct colors. The second shows that the 1st plot is yellow instead of blue. Also the 4th plot is green instead of red for the 1st 80% of the plot. Then it switches to the correct color, red. I have other graphs with different plots with the wrong colors. Notice that the colors in the legend are always correct.

Pages have wrong color when published

Hello, I have been trying to publish a site with iWeb, and everything is going fairly well except for the following problem: Some of the pictures publish with the wrong colors (greens show up as pink, among other things). The rest of the pictures publish normally. They are all jpgs, all of which I moved into iWeb from the media browser.
Anybody know what's up? Anybody having color issues upon publish? I am working from a macbook on this project.

I think what is happening is that your JPGs are being converted to PNG by iWeb. And the particular images that are having color shifts do not have the right color information and that's why it shifts when converted to PNG by iWeb.
Try this... you need to make your JPGs the exact size that you will be using them at in iWeb, or at least capture a PNG that has the correct color info. The easiest way to do this is to have iWeb open to that page and then take a screenshot of the image in iWeb. Use Apple-Shift-4 to draw a rectangle around the image. Then bring this image back into iWeb. Then publish. You should see an improvement in color.

Acrobat DC - wrong color when opening document

I've set up color management via Adobe Bridge for Indesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and Acrobat. After updating to Acrobat DC I had to synchronize via bridge again. Now it says "synched".
BUT: When I open a document the colors the colors are not shown correctly. As soon as I click elsewhere (outside Acrobat DC) and then again inside Acrobat DC the colors are shown correctly. Also if I just use the scrollbar the colors turn correct. But just upon opening the document the colors are wrong.
Any ideas?

Please help - Ipod freezes when playing any video

Hi
I only got my ipod video a day ago and it wont play any video files. Everytime i go to play a video it freezes and just shows a black screen. I have tried downloading a music video from the itunes store and this wont work either. When i first got it i did play one video, im not sure if this was before i updated the firmware though?
I cannot figure out how to reset the firmware if this is what i need to do?
I would really appreciate some advice.

I just got my iPod like two months ago and it wouldn't play any video podcast until I downloaded the new iTunes software. Now it plays some video podcasts but not all. I tried to watch some new podcasts I had downloaded from iTunes and it would play some of it then just freeze and make these wierd sounds. I tried again and it totally froze where I couldn't do anything, not even turn it off. It stayed that way until the battery was completely drained then it turned itself off later that night. The next morning I charged it up and it worked fine but I still can't watch those podcasts. Please help, cause this thing is pretty much brand new and for the amount of money I spent on it I don't want it to start giving me problems after only two months.

It doesn't matter which video it is; it doesn't matter where along a video's playback it is; it doesn't matter which website it is. This problem happens at any time of day, and every single day, at random, regardless. I've tried everything including reinstalling my Windows 8.1 64-bit operating system from scratch, and then trying streaming flashplayer videos before reinstalling any other software again first - no help. I tried streaming in Safe Mode; disabling all browser addons; disabling all startup executables; disabling my internet protection software entirely, each in turn - no help. I always keep Flashplayer, Shockwave player, and Adobe Reader up to date, along with the rest of my PC via Microsoft Windows Update, and any other updates that apply, but I even tried older versions of drivers as well as the very newest ones - no help. I tried streaming using different video cards - no help. I tried using an ethernet connection and then a wireless one, separately in turn, as well as connecting to a different network - no help. I also have Mozilla's Firefox browser installed and fully up to date - the exact same random, constant freezeup problem streaming flashplayer videos happens when using it as when using Internet Explorer. These freezeups act like the incoming internet stream's feed runs ahead of flashplayer's memory management (rendering?) of it, causing these momentary freezeups while flashplayer buffers, and then jumps forward to catch up again each time. Please contact me back and provide a corrected update(s) of flashplayer to download so as to play streaming flashplayer videos without this ongoing conflict. Please note that video files that are downloaded/installed on my hard drive do NOT have playback problems of any kind. This is only an online streaming problem with flashplayer. Thank you.

Wrong colors when printing PDF in Draft Mode Printing (Win)

I am using Acrobat to print my contact sheets from the Print module (Windows). If I use the "Draft Mode Printing" in LR, colors in the resulting PDF are way off. Any idea what the settings in Acrobat should be, to obtain correct colors? I have tried many combinations in the "Adobe PDF Conversion Settings", especially in the "Color" tab, but with no success.
Note that colors in the resulting PDF are correct instead when I disable the "Draft Mode Printing" from LR.

No I did not build 1:1 previews first. The point of using the draft print is to me to do quick, so would rather not build any 1:1 preview. Anyway, I don't believe I got what you wrote: if I do not build the 1:1 preview, what is the color space of the print output in Draft Mode?

Render file wrong size when played back thru windows media.

Odd one must be a bug.
I render a project that is 1 hour and 18 minutes.
Upon looking at it in windows explorer it claims it is 56 minutes long. I get same result in windows media player. When I bring this file into PPCC it says it is 1 hr and 18 mins.
Ok. Is someone playin a trick on me here. Or do I have ghosts?

Firstly, check the login items to see if you accidentally added it there. Next, try repairing permissions.

Hi all, I post on here from time to time, but hardly anyone ever answers my questions. Here's my dilema. I bought a Tmobile MDA over the weekend that runs microsoft windows mobile 5.0. And while playing with it have noticed some things about it that i think are'nt that good. For example, I like the fact that its a windows os, but think that it's flawed. I have done quite a bit of research but don't think that it's active sync software is even compatible with mac osx. so have'nt even tried to mess with it. now i'm still in the 14 day window and am thinking about returning it. but here's the thing....
I know that tmobile has EDGE, and it's considerably slower than verizon or sprints EVDO. (since i've researched it i know that edge is around the 70-170KBPS range when EVDO has 300-700KBPS) And tonight i was messing with this tmobile MDA and finally got it to work to connect to the net with it using bluetooth and it's "modem" ability to connect it to the web. But it S U C K S! i went to and did a bandwith test and i was only getting like 12.1-27.1kbps download (after running 2 tests) dude, it feels slower than dialup!
so with that bullet against it, comes the compatible part. I can't sycn this thing with my mac for NOTHING! do any of you out there have a palm treo? (either verizon, sprint, or att.... carrier X?) How does it sync with your mac? is it hard? any extra software i need to get/buy? have any of you used it to connect to the net? and if so, how's the speed? And here's an even bettter question... How long did it take to config it to work using the phone as a modem? Did you use bluetooth? or serial link? was it easy to config? Where did you find the instructions?
I know these are a lot of questions, but this is a large investment for me. I mean this thing ain't cheap and it does'nt really play nice. I don't mind paying a little extra, for some peace of mind, and knowing that it won't crash often and will work with my mac. Anyone out there got any other suggestions? I would really appreciate it. I would like your opinion on which one is the easiest to use that plays nice with a mac, and has a interface that's almost as nice. Thank you so much for your time. It really is a toss up cause Ive owned two Treo's and Ive read extensive reviews on Windows mobile devices and it seems to me like they're pretty similar in the way of hardware and software(minus the fact of using different operating systems). So I think the determining factor really ought to be more focused on how much you're willing to pay, and the level of support you get for each device. I recently got rid of my Treo 650 due to an interesting touchscreen problem and got a windows mobile device(should come tomorrow)
in the way of syncing with a mac:
The Treo is extremely simple to set up and use with a Mac(keep in mind Im not talking about the 700w/wx)in every aspect. Palm provides OSx compatible software(though its almost impossible to get rid of after installation). However, in my experience, Palm does not really do a good job in the customer service department. While they have a rather extensive support page for each device(some of the info is outdated), that's pretty much all you get unless you don't mind spending hrs scouring various forums. Talking to customer service is a joke. Like I said I had a problem with the touchscreen and the best the rep could give me was "try a hard reset" and "send it in for repair".
I have yet to experience what windows mobile will be like. At the very least with syncing, theres syncing software made by people who had OSx in mind(ie: Missing Sync or Pocketmac) who will probably be able to help out a lot more in this area and possible also be able to help out with the other issues you mentioned.

ITunes Home Sharing freezes when playing on a Mac

So I have a Mac Mini with all of my movies and TV shows (purchased through iTunes, digital download, etc.). I use Home Sharing to share that content with my Macbook Pro and Apple TV. Everything worked great before Mavericks.
I upgraded both the Macbook and the Mac Mini to Mavericks, and I'm having weird problems viewing video content on ONLY the Macbook Pro. Video still streams fine to the Apple TV.
But when I try and watch video on the Macbook Pro, the video will play for a bit, then freeze after a few minutes. Sometimes after several more, it will continue to play. Sometimes the video will start back up again, but it will be jittery, and there's no audio. Sometimes it just won't start back up at all.
All three devices are connected to an Airport Extreme via gigabit Ethernet so it shouldn't be a bandwidth issue. Nothing in the setup changed other than upgrading software and operating system.
The Mac Mini is also running Mac OS X Server (it was previously) and is only setup for File Sharing. File Sharing works fine. I get high-speed transfer of fimes to and from Mac Mini. Everything is updated (iTunes, OS, OS X Server, etc.)

It certainly looks like a Mavericks problem because my Mac Mini is still on 10.6.8 and I have home sharing enabled on it to play movies on my Mavericks iMac. The movie will freeze with no error and the play button is still showing the pause icon indicating that it should still be playing.
But on my old MacBook Core Duo–still running 10.6.8– there's no problem playing the whole video. My network is also Gigabit and I'm not using any wifi.
Another new problem I get is crackles on the audio when I use my Presonus FireWire audio interface and play a movie - either in iTunes or QuickTime. If I output using Airplay or the headphone socket it sounds clean.
After the movie freezes I get an error in the Console which says- "iTunes: Audio Codec returned an output channel layout incompatible with its output format."

MPEG 2 stutters when played on my Mac

I am having a strange problem with MPEG 2 files. Normally I make DVDs to play on DVD players connected to tvs, but for my current project I need to create a DVD which will most likely be played on computers. The MPEG 2 files I've created in Compressor and DVDSP play back with a strange stutter during pan shots. Other shots are ok. Just to check, I burnt the files to a DVD and played them on my tv and there is no stutter. I've played the files through the Apple DVD Player program directly from the DVD, and also through QuickTime Player direct from the hard drive and I get the same stutter in both.
I read on another thread about someone having this problem with MPEG 4 files and they were told to try the VLC player, so I gave this a try as well, and it did work a lot better than QuickTime Player or DVD Player. But I can't rely on that because I doubt that most people I'm going to give the DVD to would have the VLC player. Can anyone suggest any settings for Compressor or DVDSP that will produce stutter-free pans when viewed in either DVD Player or QuickTime Player? My clip is less than 2 mins long. The settings I have used so far are:
Exporting from FCP to Compressor:
MPEG 2 PAL 60 minute two pass VBR, average bit rate 6.6Mbps, Max bit rate 7.8Mbps, Motion Estimation: best, Field dominance: bottom first
MPEG 2 PAL 60 minute One pass, average bit rate 7.8Mbps, Motion Estimation: best, Field dominance: bottom first
Exporting as a movie from FCP and then using DVDSP to encode during 'build/format':
MPEG 2 One pass VBR, bit rate 4.0Mbps, Max bit rate 7.0Mbps, Motion Estimation: better, Field order: auto

Thanks Heikki. My pans were shot on a DVX100a at 25p, so as I understand it, the footage is already progressive. I have tried compressing as a progressive MPEG 2 but it looks the same in QuickTime and DVD Player no matter what settings I use in the export. It only looks good in VLC Player or if I burn it to DVD and watch it on tv. Non panning shots look fine, it's just during the pans that there is a problem - as if I had some trembling disease while I was panning the camera!

The images are pictured ok, but the colors are wrong. I have two DVD players at home:
- When I play the DVD on an expensive Pionner DVD player, the reds turned into some sort of green, and the overall color range seems more «cold» (ie, more blue and greenish)
- When I play the DVD on a cheap 20 dolars players, everything turns out black and white.
It happens this way no matter if I use the NTSC or PAL preferences when burning.
I also tryed to asve a .img to disk and burn it using the Disk Utility. Didnt work also.

Change in color when exporting to dvd. Please help

I have some AVCHD footage that looks great when exported to quicktime. But when burning to DVD with iDVD all colors are "stronger", especially red. (Skincolor get way too much red).
This appears both when playing back the DVD on the Mac or on a LCD screen. Have I done something wrong?

Yes, you didn't properly monitor your footage. Sorry to be so blunt.
If you want to know what your footage looks like on a TV, you need to monitor it on a TV. Your computer monitors will not get you the same colors. And since you are working with AVCHD footage that you will downconvert to a standard def DVD, you'll need something that can downconvert to SD.
Cheapest option? Decklink Intensity Pro (www.decklink.com). This requires that you have a PCIe Intel Mac Pro or Quad G5. It can downconvert the HD to SD so you can connect it to your TV and see what you will really be getting. There are other Decklink options as well that are more expensive, as well as solutions from www.aja.com and the MXO from www.matrox.com.
