Help!!! Z77A-GD65 will not boot!

Hi guys, I've been running the following setup since may without any fault at all until last night. I don't really overclock at all, only used OC Genie a few times.
MB: MSI Z77A-GD65
CPU: Intel i5 3570K
CPU COOLER: Corsair H60
GPU: MSI N560GTX-Ti
RAM: Corsair Vengeance Blue 4gb modules x 4 @ 1600mhz
PSU: Corsair TX650w
SSD: Samsung 830 128gb x 2
Tower: Corsair Carbide 500R
OS: Windows 7 64 Bit
DD: Samsung Blu-Ray
It won't boot in either BIOS, the code that stays constant on the debug led is 37. The whole fan system turns on, including the hydro cooler and gpu fans. You turn the system on and the cpu power flow led's flicker until they settle at just led's 1 and 2. The alarm led never turns on. Nothing comes on the screen, yet the monitor senses a signal. Any ideas what could be the culprit here??? My last MSI mobo has been running since 2003 so I'm kind of stumped here... By what I've read it could be the power supply, but I'm stumped... Please help!

Swap out the discrete graphics card and try with the onboard. Remove the power cord, remove the battery for awhile, clear CMOS, if it will now get in the UEFI/BIOS, reset boot order and other settings, retest. I believe the 37 is the CPU temp reading beginning with some of the newer BIOS releases? Monitor or VGA might be the culprit.

HELP! iMac Will Not Boot Up

My wife's iMac has died. It has been getting real slow lately, locking up sometimes. We have powered it off and would work again, sort of. Today, she was browsing the net and it locked up loading a page. Couldn't do anything. Would not even open the Force Close window. Powered it off and now it will not even boot up - just get the white Apple screen with the loading circle. And, of course, we have hundreds of family pictures on it not backed up, including our 4 month old!! I need help to get this thing booted up and get the hard drive backed up. What can I do? Is there some kind of "safe mode" I can boot to? Some kind of recovery disk?

It sounds like your HD may have crashed or it's possible it is simply too full. Most Macs need about 10-15% of the internal HD space to be unused so the computer can work well. If your machine has too much data on it then it's a simple matter of moving data files to an external HD.
Now I'm going to be blunt and pardon me if this is offensive however operating ANY computer without a backup plan is just dumb. Since Leopard (which is what you are using) Apple provides a backup plan called Time Machine. It's as simple as connecting an external HD. If your HD has crashed you may have lost all of your photographs so this could be a very expensive lesson. There are data recovery services however they are extremely expensive. Here is an article from MacWorld that talks about various backup plans, once your computer is running again begin using one IMMEDIATELY!
So lets see if we can trouble shoot what the issue is. First lets try an Apple Hardware Test. You can find the instructions using this Apple Advice Letter.

Run AHT and it will see if it can find any hardware problems. It's not the most conclusive testing utility however it's a start.
Let us know what you find out then we can offer some more trouble shooting steps.

HELP Mac Mini will not boot after 10.5.1 update

After I tried installing 10.5.1 I received a warning message that the update will not be installed because of an error and I should contact the vendor. After that the Mini tries to reboot. It keeps repeating the process over and over. I have tried to do safe boot mode by manually turning off the computer and then restarting while holding shift, but nothing happens. Can anybody help?

I'd go with the LaCie. I got two from Amazon, 320 and 500 and both are quiet, have 800MHz FW and I have had no problems with either of them. The new one also has a 3-position switch - Off/Auto/On which allows it to sleep when not being accessed when in Auto.
I suspect that your external HD was the problem all along.

Help. Tiger will not boot PowerMac G4

I seem to have shot myself in the foot.
I have Tiger 10.4.11running on a G4 Sawtooth upgraded to 1.8Ghz via Sonnet.
It developed problems: 1. Mouse some times shot out of control and had to be steered back to where I was, 2. Could not wake computer up from sleep and had to re-start manually.
Decided to fix problems and read several options. I implemented the deletion of certain prefs:
-- trash /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.PowerManagement.plist
-- trash /Users/[username]/Library/Preferences/com.apple.systemuiserver.plist
-- reboot while resetting PRAM/NVRAM
I followed these directions; deleted the two prefs files and zapped PRAM when the computer rebooted.
However the computer would not load its OS. I tried zapping PRAM again on another re-start but to no effect.
Computer starts up, identifies HDD, Apple logo appears but the rotation symbol does not appear indicating that the computer cannot load its OS.
I have tried starting up from a Tiger Install disc but it will not work. I get a grey screen with a black rectangle in the centre reminiscent of the grey kernal panic message block but no message.
I have a duplicate (back-up) of the Tiger OS on a bootable external drive. When I start holding down Option key to display HDD’s the computer identifies both the internal and external drives with the internal highlighted. Problem is I cannot select the external drive because the computer/keyboard will not respond to the right Arrow key!
Can anyone offer a suggestion as to the cause of the problem or to its resolution. Best I can think of is to take out the HDD from the external Drive and use it to replace the HDD in the computer. That is a bit messy and I would prefer a better alternative.
I welcome any suggestions to remedy problem.

Glad I could help and that your efforts were not totally in vain...
We still don't know how trashing those plist files bricked your mac.
Maybe you trashed them all at once while actually you should have trashed them one at a time, rebooting inbetween, to give OSX the chance to rebuild them to default settings? They seem very essential plist files, maybe OSX can't rebuild them if the combination of these two is missing? Again, I'm no expert, just guessing.
Anyhow: for the future:
it's always best not to trash plist files. Move them to your desktop, or another location temporarily.
Test by rebooting, recreating a default plist. If you run into troubles, you can always move back the original plist file. If all goes well, you can then trash the old plist.
But I guess you figured that out by now ;-) sometimes we got to learn the hard way hehe...
Luckily you had a cloned back-up that saved your bacon :-)
regarding Leopard:
Minimum specs are 867 MHz G4 and 512MB Ram, but a mac with this specs will run Leopard significantly slower than Tiger, thus a no go. If you're well above these specs (at least 1GB RAM), the performance drop will be less significant (around 4% slower with 1GB if I remember the benchmarks well)
If you can max out the RAM to 2GB, it should run well.
another thing: I've read that Leopard Install discs are hard to get these days - at a reasonable price. A leopard disc costs much more than a Snow Leopard disc. Reason:
Leopard discs are discontinued by Apple, and only available on sites like ebay... Many people still own PPC machines where Leopard is the limit, so they are much sought after.
Also keep in mind, as I said before, that there are system specific DVD's and universal ones, the latter being more expensive.
I hope the CCC errors don't give you too much further troubles, and that your wake-up issue turns out to be fixed too, if not, best start another thread.
Side note: Should troubles continue: If you have the budget: the Mac Mini is quite affordable. I have one, (late 2012 model) and I'm very pleased with the bang for the buck. (only disadvantage: GPU not very powerful, but not an issue for me, as I don't do much graphic work)

Help Please - X200 will not boot after Bios Upgrade - keeps asking for power on password

I am new to this forum and please let me say a big Thank You for your help in advance.
I am using a lenovo thinkpad x200 running windows vista with service pack 1.
The laptop has always been running fine and has never given me any issues. Unfortunately, all this came to an end yesterday when I ran the system assistant which did a round of updates and it prompted me to reflash my bios.
I did what was instructed and closed all open applications and after the laptop restarted, there was a noise from the harddisk (the sound was basically like what happens if the harddisk suddenly loses power). Then, all i got was a black screen, no harddisk acitvity with only the power cable LED and another LED (with the shape of a N tiled at 20 degrees) on.

This is what I did so far"
I turned off the power, took out the backup battery and waited for about 30 minutes (repeated this step several times, also removing the harddisk) but to no avail.
I removed the RAM and tried booting and there was that characteristic beeping sound.
I replaced the RAM, redid the CMOS clearing, and now there is the Lenovo startup screen. However, there would be an error code 0271 (no date time) and 0251 (something about default configuration). Then, these disappear and all I am left with is the Bios Power On password prompt. Somehow no matter what I type nothing can be input into the field (and I did not create any password as far as I can remember).
I redid the clearing for the power on password by removing the backup battery as suggested at the bottom of this page http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/detail.page?LegacyDocID=migr-59377 but it is no use. Each time I restart, even if I press the blue Think Vantage button or F1 or F11, I still get the same 0271 and 0251 error messages and am left with the power on password prompt.
I am really desperate as I really like my lenovo x200 and there is important data on the laptop. I would appreciate any suggestions on how I can solve this. Its amazing how a simple update can turn into such a disaster. Now i know i should never upgrade or update my Bios (or at least proceed with extreme caution).
Anyone can provide some help to get my laptop workin again?

HELP! iMac will not Boot

While booting off my external harddrive, i deleted all the partitions on my internal drive (i wanted to start fresh without boot camp) after doing so i tried to boot from my install DVD with no luck what so ever, sometimes i do get to the apple logo but that is as far as i can get, i cannot even eject the DVD or try to boot from my external drive, can anyone help me?

Unfortunately the proper way to remove XP and its partition from your internal drive was with the Boot Camp Asistant. The 3rd command was for restoring you Mac to a single volume.
To eject the install DVD restart the Mac while pressing the mouse.
Just an idea for you. There is an entire Apple Discussion forum dedicated to Boot Camp and Windows XP.
Whereas, not everyone here with an Intel iMac has installed, tried to install or has experience with BC & XP, everyone there has or at least has an interest. You may attract help more quickly there.

P67A-GD65 will not boot after OC Genie

Built my initial system in early September.

Intel I5-2500k
Crucial M4 256GB
8GB (2x4G) G.SKILL Ripjaws DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666)
MSI P67A-GD65 (B3)
OCZ ModXStream Pro 600W power supply
Velociraptor 160GB Drive
DVD burner
Nvidia GTX 285
System was running fine. Added 2 more sticks of memory and replaced the GTX 285 with a EVGA SuperClocked GTX570. Had no problems for a week.
Last night I powered down the system, hit the OC Genie button (just because you can, doesn't mean you should .) When I started up the system, the fan on the GPU went and stayed full bore, nothing was displayed. Also, no power to the keyboard or USB mouse. The DVD drive had a disk in it and that started up. I got one long beep and two short beeps. I powered down, pressed the OC Genie button again and started it back up with the same results. I tried swapping the old GTX 285 back in but got the same results. I switched the slot of the GPU and it didn't help. I also tried removing two of the memory sticks, unplugging all USB devices, etc. The CPU, case, power supply and GPU fans are spinning. Any advice on how I should proceed?

Z77A-GD65 with i3 3220 Will not boot

Building new Z77A-GD65 with i3 3220 cpu 16G memory, 650w power supply and it will not boot. It starts to boot and lights all the LEDs green, FF appears in Multi BIOs it shuts off after a few seconds then tries to boot again and again repeating. MSI RMA replaced the mobo and installed Bios 10.7 and it still will not boot.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

X79A-GD65 (8D) will not boot with 4930K or 3930K

My system will not boot but gets stuck at "09 Power on South Bridge Initialization"
Detailed description:
I just bought this system and am when I tried to start it it got stuck at "09 Power on South Bridge Initialization". I have removed everything that is not necessary (gfx-card, HDDs, etc.) and only have the CPU and one memory stick inserted (in slot 1 as per the manual). I have also unplugged and put back all power cables from the PSU several times. I have also tried using BIOS A and B.
As I read on this forum that a BIOS update was needed for IVY-Bridge CPUs I bought a 3930K today to see if I could get the system up and running but it still gives me the same error code.
My board serial number is 601-7760-010B1312109204, assuming it is manufactured 1312 = December 2013.
I don't know the BIOS revision as I have never managed to get past the 09 status code.
Any ideas on what the problem could be?
Bought this monster PC as I have a delivery for a client in need of some RAM-heavy processing, so am really starting to feel stressed out about this by now.

even compared to just 10 years ago sales staff have became really dumb as there just hiring people who do not care about anything as long as they get there cut of a sale (usually all they know is basic Consumer parts they stock) and nearly non of them unless they specialize in that level of equipment will have 0 idea what they work with on a pro level part (ECC memory tends to be used on servers and Professional workstations so if they do not use that type of gear then they probably have no idea what ECC really is at all)!
also in that time some major things have happened especially with computer parts like the memory controller moved from the Chipset to the CPU same with the SATA controller , onboard GPU (thats now on the CPU and some have it some don't) and alot of other things and I guess that the people you dealed with had no idea the memory support has very little to do with the board (all the board can do is have BIOS Timing sets now and lists of parts it supports) and is now to do with the CPU alot more as it has the important stuff on it (there very close to a SOC (System On Chip) now)!
if you plan on building another computer remember to do some research yourself before you get a CPU as it is nearly the most important thing of all and they have different features tied to them and do not expect sales guys to have a idea unless there also a Technical support staff member too and work on computers that are of the same class your trying to make and have at least used the same level gear (usually if your doing something like that find a friend who is a computer nerd tell him what your trying to do and get him to help you choose all the parts)!

Help! My iPod touch 2G will not boot up!

My iPod touch 2G will not boot.
Heres the specs of the problem:
It turns on with an Apple logo with a spinning wheel under it.
I have tried editing the hosts file with the Apple server codes.
I have tried restoring 16 times. (I log what I do on it)
The iPod has never been jailbroken.
It is an MC model.
It is 8GB.
Its formated for Windows. (Windows 7)
iTunes 10.4
I have tried "The Tiny Umbrella TSS Server with SHSH blobs for iOS 4.1"
I tried "RecBoot" no luck.
My Mom will kill me if I can't fix this. I am going on a 9 hour vacation ride with 7 year old brothers that get really cranky. I leave August 6th, 2011. So I need to have it fixed before then. So i really, really, really need help!

Try uninstalling iTunes and installing the 10.4 iTunes that came out a few days ago. Click start, run and paste "%Userprofile%\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPhone Software Updates" without quotes. Find iPod2,1_4.2.1_8C148_Restore.ipsw and delete it. Try restoring again and Tiny Umbrella is only for iPhones. Do not use it on iPod Touch or various errors appear. iPod Touches can downgrade at any time (idk about iOS 5). If it doesn't work, reply. :)

Help needed on startup. My computer will not boot from the CD drive!!!

Problem with iMac G3 333, the Message on the screen states: "The System Software on the starup disk only functions on the media, not if copied to another drive." Like a fool, I copied the system folder from the original system software 9.2.2 on to the iMac. System disk which is not a complete system folder when used on the computer. I have searched the Internet, but can not find an answer. I have tried everything, holding down the C key, "Delete, Opition, Apple key, shift" holding the mouse down on startup, various combinations of other keys, etc. The CD starts to spin, but the computer switches to the hard drive and the message above returns. No matter what I try I still can't boot from the tray loading CD drive. Is there any Firmware code that I can use. I know how to access Firmware on the Imac and can boot the iMac using Firmware, but I don't know how to use Firmware to boot the CD drive which I need to do so I can reload the original software. CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP? Thanks, Jim

Yes, I have tried both System Softwares a number of times. The C key will not boot up the CD drive and the harddrive always boots with the original message. I need to get the CD drive to boot so I can reloaded tge original software. Do you know anything about booting the CD drive using Firmware? Jim

Sounds like you may have a harddrive issue. You are probably going to need to get that changed out and then install the OS X again to get it going.

If you want to solve your problems, unjailbreak. And don't do it again, because jailbreaking causes problems as you read about in that article. You can try Recovery Mode: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808

Hi motormike, thanks for the information. I have done some research and rather than give you a link to Microsoft I have just added the documentation on this here for you. This is all the instructions to hopefully resolve the issue right from Microsoft.
"To Fix this, follow the steps in method 1, it that doesn’t fix the issue, follow the steps in method 2.
Method 1: Use the Last Known Good Configuration to start Windows
When starting the PC using the Last Known Good Configuration, your computer starts with the conficuration from the last time your PC booted successfully. To do this, follow these steps:
Click the Start button, then click the arrow next to Shut Down, then click Restart.
As your computer starts, press and hold the F8 button. If the Windows logo appears, you'll need to try again by shutting down and restarting your computer.
On the Advanced Boot Options screen, use the arrow keys to highlight Last Known Good Configuration (advanced), and then press Enter. Windows will start normally.
If you still can't boot into Windows sucessfully, proceed to Method 2.
Method 2: Use the Startup Repair feature

Help! Computer turns on but then will not boot up - Please Help!

I have no idea what happened to my Apple. Someone please help me. My powerbook currently is running on no battery (recall victim) and now the entire computer is no longer functioning at all. I installed iTunes 7.0 and then the trouble began. I had to restart the computer, so I did that and then the computer just wont boot up. It goes to the grey screen which shows the Apple symbol and occurs right before my log in then just continues to read. The green light for the battery is function and nothing at all is working. The computer simply will not boot up, I have tried unplugging it for the night and then rebooting it and nothing. Please someone help, what has went wrong?

You mentioned in your other thread that you had trouble with a cpu(0) hardware error trying to use the hardware test disk. Is this the hardware test disk which came with that particular machine? If not, then you need to find the original hardware test disk that came with that machine. If the restore disks that say 12" Powerbook include the words hardware test, use those instead and follow these directions:

If you are using the correct hardware test disk and you get a cpu(0) error using it, then the machine has a hardware problem.
