HELP! ZEN questi

Can anyone tell me how to organize/search for things on my ZEN? I just have the plain ZEN. Thanks for any help you can give!!

What do you mean by Organize ? Basically when you add your music to the Zen, make sure that all the music files have ID3 tags which contains information such as song title, artiste and album. Once you have that, you can navigate to?'Music' on the player, here you can browse via Album, Artists or Genres. The lists would be sorted via alphabetical orders so you can use the Down button to navigate down the list. To speed through the list by jumping to the next alphabet, you use the right button to where the list of alphabets are, you can then use the down button to navigate through the alphabet. When you hit the alphabet you want, use the left button to move back to the list. Hit the center select button to select and subsequently play that album or artists.

  • Help, Zen Stone and Nano Plus not recognized on my PC (XP) have tried everything I can f

    Hi,
    I recently bought a Zen Stone but I cannot get my PC to recognize it. Everytime it is plugged in I get taken to the "Found New Hardware Wizard" and it cannot find a driver. I have gone through all the help and none of the proposed solutions makes any difference. The Stone charges fine, but I cannot access it: in Device Manager it appears in Other Devices and does not appear in My Computer. The Safely Remove Hardware icon appears in the tray but when I right-click on it, nothing happens. The same thing is also happening with my older Zen Nano Plus which I am sure was recognized a couple of months ago. Both the Stone and the Nano PLus play music and I tried the Stone on a friends computer and her Windows XP recognised it fine. I am running Windows XP with Service Pack 2 and I automatically do all the recommended Windows Updates. Things I have tried: * Unplugging all other USB devices * Using USBs at back of computer * Using a paper clip to reset the Stone * Changing the Power Management options for USB as advised on Creative Media website * Updating my chipset device drivers * In Other Devices trying to reinstall drivers * Downloading new drivers and other software for my Zen Nano * In the BIOS switching off USB 2.0 * Rolling back from Windows Media to 0, removing Microsoft User-Mode Driver Frameworks Feature Pack .0, and downloading "Update for DRM - enabled Media Players (KB8922)" * Downlaoding Iomega patch * Running msconfig to remove all startup and Service files apart from Microsoft to ensure there is no conflict with other loaded software (still didn't work) Something has defintely changed in my computer to stop Zen from working and yet the USB ports work fine with my digital camera, printer, keyboard and mouse. Please, please, please, does anyone have any ideas about what may be causing my problem Thank you Stephanie

    Hi, Quick update, have also gone through everything in http://forums.creative.com/creativel...cending&page=3 and tried downloading the Fixup but with no success. Made the major mistake of following advice to delete USB controllers and ended up with no USB ports working (not good since my keyboard and mouse use USB). Had to do system restore to get back to square one. I have contacted Creative support several times and tried everything they suggested and they have tole me that there is nothing else I can try. Can find nothing else to try and with so many people experiencing the same problem with the Creative Zen's, I have come to the conclusion that the Zen is not compatible with many people's XP and only wish I had known all this before I bought it. If anyone has any other ideas I can try, please let me know, otherwise I will have to send my new Zen Stone back to Amazon as completely unusable. Goodness knows how anyone who doesn't know their way around a computer is ever supposed to get one working. I am really disappointed with Creative about this. Anyone recommend a good MP3 player make that actually works in Windows XP Regards Stephanie.

    HELP IS GREATLY APPRICATED,
    Kyle

    It sounds like the typical failing headphone socket problem, covered to some degree in the FAQ.
    Information on how to backup the player is covered in this thread.
    You are probably best to return to Creative direct, so contact support to arrange this.

  • HELP: Zen Sleek - can't access fi

    If anyone can help, it would be most appreciated.
    My player and my computer aren't communicating. the computer knows the player is there, knows how much space it has left on it, but won't show the tracks, nor can i add any. I can't get to the files at all from my computer.
    It still works fine on its own, as a player. but i can't figure this out. i uninstalled and reinstalled the software, but that didn't help at all.
    i've had the Zen Sleek for less than a month and this happened kind of suddenly. The only other problem i had was when it froze up on me for a while when it was like a week old. That and some failed file transfers.
    any ideas?

    Look in the "My Zen is not behaving properly, and/or won't startup, or goes into rescue mode. What should I do?" section of the FAQ post.

  • NEED HELP - ZEN MI

    I just bought a Zen Micro two days ago and am trying to get started. I loaded the software that came with the unit and my computer is not reading the device. I am running Windows XP and have uninstalled an reinstalled numerous times. Everytime I plug the device in, Windows prompts me that I have new hardware and tries to install it for me, the problem is, it should already be installed. I can bring up all the Creative products but in the software it says not connected when my device is clearly connected through the USB port. I don't get it, any tips on how to connect this bad boy.
    I just bought it two days ago so I don't think I need to download anything off the net to upgrade.
    Please help.

    What actually happens when it tries to install?
    For starters you might want to try downloading the latest software:
    . Creative Zen and Jukebox Driver Upgrade version .30.03
    2. Creative MediaSource Player/Organizer 3.30.2
    3. Creative Zen and NOMAD Jukebox plugin 2.00.9 for Creative MediaSource
    Install . then connect the player to the PC. Then install 2. and 3. (the player must be connected for 2. to verify you have a Creative product).

  • NEWBIE help, Zen Mi

    Hi Everybody !
    This is my first post, so Hullo to all the new friends I'm going to meet.
    I wonder if you can help me?
    I just got a 2nd hand Zen Micro and I've started to charge it, the blue lights glows and then fades and repeats this. My problem is that I can only see the creative logo and I can't seem to play with it to see what songs are on there? So, do I have to wait 3 hours for it to fully charge before I can play around with the menu?
    Thanks to all those who reply!!!!
    {:angry:>

    scutter: If the player is not booting correctly this suggests a problem, but make sure to read the section "My Zen is not behaving properly, and/or won't startup, or goes into rescue mode. What should I do?" in the FAQ post and try the advice there.

  • Help zen wont turn o

    hey this is my first post so sorry if info isnt right but can someone please try to help..
    i had the zen 6gb for a xmas present and have only used it a couple of times but now it wont switch on. I fully charged it and took it to work to listen to and it wouldn't switch on at all. when i got home i pluged it back into my pc and it did eventually charge. I switched it back off once fully charged and have just tried to switch it back on and its not turning on again. i have once again pluged it back in and it wont respond to anything, has anyone else had this problem and is my player faulty and needs replacing?
    thanks
    soph

    I have a similar problem. I just recieved my Zen 8GB in the mail yesterday. I brought it to a full charge and transfered a few songs to it. Tested it out and it worked great for 4 or so hours. I then attached it to my PC to transfer a larger amount of my music library to the player.
    When done I unplugged the player and it immediately powered off. I tried to turn it on, the Creative logo fires up, then I get a garbled white screen and it powers down (never gets to the ZEN logo).
    If I plug it back into my PC it poweres up all the way and goes to the "Docked" screen.
    Naturally, I tried resetting the device to no avail so my next course of action was to upgrade the firmware. I did so (to .2.0 released about a week or so ago) and that did not resolve the issue. So I booted up into the service mode (holding down play while pressing power) and the player boots up fine and holds its powered-on state. So I'm not positi've its the battery.
    At this point I did a full flush of the firmware through the service screen?and re-installed the latest release that way. Still no dice. The player will not get past the "creative" logo when booting from the battery.
    I have attained an RMA and will be sending the player back to Creative today. I'm concerned that they will plug it in and see it boots to docking mode and send it back to me as is. Personally, I'm quite upset that I could not locate a customer service telephone number online and that the text-box through which you explain your issue for the RMA only allows about 200 characters.
    Overall experience so far (not owning a product for a full day and discovering I need to be without my new product for up to 5 additional days, not being able to TALK with a customer service representati've to fully explain my issue) has not been a good one. Lets hope it comes back in working order.

    )? Have the Zen the possibility to load songs like usb pen ? Or it needs the installation of the software ?
    2)? Have the Zen the possibility to divide the songs in folders ?
    3)? Have the Zen the possibility to visualize the titles of songs on its little screen ?
    4)? Have it the FM radio and vocal recorder ?
    Thanks to all and excuse me for my bad English !

    )? Have the Zen the possibility to load songs like usb pen ? Or it needs the installation of the software ?You can cut/copy paste music from usb pen to Zen using windows explorer. The same as copying from dri've to the other. 2)? Have the Zen the possibility to divide the songs in folders ??You can create and name folders and put your songs in the folders using windows explorer. 3)? Have the Zen the possibility to visualize the titles of songs on its little screen ?The titles do scroll across the screen when the song is playing. 4)? Have it the FM radio and vocal recorder ?Access this from the menu. Select FM Radio for radio and select Microphone to record. To play recorded tracks, select Recorded tracks from the menu. Access the menu by pressing the gray button.

  • Creative Zen quest

    Can I use my Zen Neeon 5gb usb cable with a 4gb creative zen, with out causing any problems

    The beauty about Creative MP3 players is that they use commonly available USB Cables for their players and as such you should be able to share the usb cable without any problem. If it is not long enough or if you misplaced it, you can go out to the stores and get the USB mini-B to Standard-A cable. This is typically used by those portable USB harddisk and digital cameras.

  • How to get the groups a computer is member of in AD with Quest Powershell?

    Hi all
    I would need a script in Quest PowerShell that gathers the groups that multiple computers are member of in Active Directory. I have this script, but what it does is to get USERNAMES from a .txt file and then display the groups
    each user is member of in AD. I couldn't modified it so instead of USERNAMES in the txt file I can put computers name, here's the code:
    $out = @()
    Get-Content M:\Tools\Reportes_Power_Shell\Contenedor_Power_Shell\Users.txt | ForEach {
    $date = (Get-Date).ToString()
    $username = $_
    $displayName = (Get-QADUser $username -Properties DisplayName).DisplayName
    $groups = Get-QADMemberOf $username | Sort-Object Name
    ForEach ( $group in $groups ) {
    $obj = New-Object -TypeName PSObject
    $obj | Add-Member -MemberType NoteProperty -Name Date -Value $date
    $obj | Add-Member -MemberType NoteProperty -Name UserName -Value $username
    $obj | Add-Member -MemberType NoteProperty -Name DisplayName -Value $displayName
    $obj | Add-Member -MemberType NoteProperty -Name GroupName -Value $group.name
    $out += $obj
    $out | Export-CSV M:\Tools\Reportes_Power_Shell\Reportes_de_Power_Shell_y_AD_Info\Users_Memberships.csv
    Thanks!

    I did it but didn't work out, I get this error:
    Get-QADMemberOf : Ambiguous identity: <NAME OF THE COMPUTER>.
    At line:5 char:30
    +     $groups = Get-QADMemberOf <<<<  $username | Sort-Object Name
        + CategoryInfo          : NotSpecified: (:) [Get-QADMemberOf], IdentityException
        + FullyQualifiedErrorId : Quest.ActiveRoles.ArsPowerShellSnapIn.BusinessLogic.IdentityException,Quest.ActiveRoles.
       ArsPowerShellSnapIn.Powershell.Cmdlets.GetMemberOfCmdlet
    I can't help with Quest, but here's an example using the AD module:
    Get-Content .\computerList.txt | ForEach {
    $computerName = $_
    $props = @{
    ComputerName = $computerName
    Groups = ''
    try {
    $details = Get-ADComputer $computerName -Properties memberOf -ErrorAction Stop
    $props.Groups = (($details.memberOf | ForEach { (Get-ADGroup $_).Name }) | Sort) -join ','
    } catch {
    $props.Groups = 'ERROR'
    New-Object PsObject -Property $props
    } | Select ComputerName,Groups | Export-Csv .\GroupList.csv -NoTypeInformation

    Hello Raman459,
    please see this blog entry:
    http://elderec.org/2012/02/scripting-delete-files-and-folders-older-than-x-days/
    Your command is ok for files, for folders you need to do another command:
     forfiles -p "D:\Testing\Sample" -d -10 -c "cmd /c IF @isdir == TRUE rd /S /Q @path"

  • Hiding items in the gal

    Dear beekeepers,
    as access to our team workspaces is commonly set by granting full
    access to a group bearing the same or a similar name as the workspace,
    we have a potential for confusion in our GAL: the GAL shows, users,
    groups, ressources and workspaces that the respective user has access
    to.
    So, our users tend to mix up a group, the related workspace's
    participants list and the related workspace's inbox, which all three
    are listed in the GAL.
    As we currently don't plan to use the group workspaces inboxes, and as
    workspace.participants coincides with the group that has access to the
    workspace: is there a possibility to hide the workspace's inbox and
    workspace.participants in the GAL?
    We tried to use ...
    beectl modify_team_workspace workspace "wksp=wsname,enpr=enprname" directory_listed FALSE
    ..., but this did not prevent the workspace from being listed in
    OBEO's GAL.
    Regards, Thomas

    Hi Thomas,
    It might help your quest, we filed bug #8773547 to allow the admin to hide certain email addresses from the GAL, it is mainly to ensure some VIP's email is not seen by more common employee and thus avoid 'spamming'.
    regards,
    David
