Helpd trying to connect to strange websites

I've got Little Snitch installed and recently helpd have been trying to connect to websites that look strange to say the least. server-54-230-99-152.arn1.r.cloudfront.net and images1.chictopia.com are just some of the hosts.
I understand that helpd fetches manual pages for installed software, but it mostly does this when the computer is otherwise idle and chictopia.com does not sound software-related at all, it appears to be a clothing site.
I've run ClamXav to see if I might have picked up something nasty but it doesn't find anything. Any ideas?

I started this last night, but have way too much going on right now. One of my projects came to an unexpected stop, so I can give you a few minutes now but it will probably be ten days or so before I have time to take it on as a project.

Yes, I recommended that page without noticing that helpd was involved. After I saw the me too from romad I realized I was on the wrong track.

Maybe you should. It seems to be a clean site with only a couple of tracker cookie from Google and what site doesn't have that. So it would appear to be some sort of Cleaner app with MacUpdate like features. I hesitate to speculate like this, but I'm hoping they aren't considering using the MacKeeper partnership advertising model. I don't see any obvious links to how to become an associate/partner, but I think it would behoove us all to watch to see how their advertising campaign runs.
I did download the installer and it seems very clean with no hidden adware installers. It's code-signed with an Apple Developer ID and it would appear to simply install and applications named "Software.com". Pacifist shows:
I'm most mystified by the role that helpd plays here. I can't find any developer documentation on it and I don't understand why Apple needs a daemon running to perform help functions. It would seem that the Help Viewer itself is fully capable of downloading help files that are stored and maintained on the web. From what we've seen here, there are a few developers using the Apple Help framework's helpd process to access and display their help files. I can speculate that there might be ways to utilize this capability to display other things, such as whatever image file it's after in your case (download button perhaps).
Again, I think we should start watching this more closely, but I don't really have much to suggest at this point.

Hello.
When trying to connect to my website, I'm getting a prompt saying the files appear to have been recently moved.....yadayada. I realise it's like this since we have changed to a new host since I see our old one there correct? OK-so my question is what happens after I click that button that says to remove the administrative settings for your website and continue connecting?
I've been told to update our website and I don't have a whole lot of knowledge about it. I do connect to it at work through ftp for uploading pix and access to cpanel but that's about it.
The person that did the site no longer works with me, but I know that he used Contribute3 (Macromedia) for at least some of the site, so I'm assuming the new Contribute will work.
I really don't want to screw things up clicking that button and somehow mess up our site.

I was able to open that cthubxxxxx.csi file in text editor and I assume I just put in http://www.liquidweb.com (in place of our old host in at least 3 spots) since they are our new host? As far as the IP addres goes, where do I get that or find it? Is it the IP address for the host (liquidweb)? I assume I call them for this information?
Just one other question:
I noticed on the cthubxxxxx.csi file it says macromedia_dreamweaver_hub. I assume that means the site was made with dreamweaver? I assume I will be able to edit with Contribute?

Simply put, firstly, I can't connect to the internet when I click on Radio. People are quite suspicious that this is Apple incompetence or your company's famous arrogance for this commonly-suffered problem that you won't or “can’t” fix.

WRT54G v6 - Cant connect to some websites

I cant connect to some websites using the WRT54G v6 router, at first I thought it was an MTU issue but ive tried 1400-1492 to no avail. I also tried everything on the Linksys website for the issue at called "Encountering Difficulties Accessing Some Websites when Connected to a Linksys Router"
Another strange thing is that while one site may not work for awhile eventually I can get to it but then I cant get to another one. At first it was google and slashdot, then it was gametab, now its gamespy. Everything was fine on my old router fyi. Im using the latest Linksys firmware v1.01.1. and im connecting to the router by ethernet cable, not wirelessly.
Ideas? Suggestions?

Open "Network Connections" and then right click and select "Repair". Run the network setup Wizard in XP again, shut down all pc's and do a power cycle.

AirPort Extreme failure to connect to certain websites

My AirPort Extreme suddenly failed to connect to certain websites that operate correctly. The Safari returned the error "Bad Server Request", i.e., www.utteraccess.com. Originally, I believe the website may be down for maintenance but tried several times with no avail. I tried it with my mobile phone and connect successfully. Then I tried to unplug the internet incoming cable to my iMac directly. It works like a charm. Thus confirm the problem lies on my AirPort Extreme. In the past it was working correctly to access this website. It seems the problem happened after the OS updated to OS X 10.10.2 and iTunes to 12.1. Any advice to diagnose the AirPort Extreme? Ok.. that is getting us somewhere.
The issue with fibre can be rather strange.. it has to do with technical issues between the supplied IP address the subnet of the entry and the gateway.. if the gateway is outside of the subnet of public IP it can fail to work. This is because the subnet mask is set too small a range.
Another way of saying the same thing is that the AE is not flexible enough to handle what is really incorrect setup on the part of the ISP.. but terribly common, such that most router manufacturers just work around it by using a more flexible route table.. it is fixable in most routers where the route table is accessible.. of course apple does nothing of the sort.. In fact apple routers are really pretty restrictive and unless you have cable modem I don't like your chances of it working.
I want you to test a few things.
Pick one of the sites that fails.. and open a terminal in the Mac.
Run the command traceroute to the website and give me the output. eg
It will fail although sometimes it can actually reach the site just not connect to http.

So I can see where the routing is falling.
If you are having DNS problems.. very likely in Yosemite.. try using the IP address instead of the name.

I'd recommend that you not use the JDBC-ODBC bridge driver to connect to SQL Server. M$ and jTDS are two free type IV JDBC drivers that you should use instead. Put those JARs in the WEB-INF/lib directory.
The database URL you're using is not correct if you change drivers. Consult the docs to find out what the proper syntax is.

Depends on your model TV. Read your TV user manual. The newer models have "how to hookup" instructions for computer & games.

I Have Spent (No Kidding) About 20 Hours Trying to Connect WRT54GS

I am trying to connect my new wireless laptop (HP Pavilion dv6985se) to your WRT54GS router. I have DSL internet with Verizon over a dedicated line. My modem is a Westell model E90-810015-06. Your instructions show the router being plugged into a PC tower, which I do not own. No matter how many, many, many times I go through the steps for installing the router, I always end up with the router attached to my laptop- not wireless. There is no way for me to connect the modem to the router using two cables as your instructions show. My modem only has the ethernet outlet and a usb outlet (which I don't have a cable for because I didn't need it). I should not have to buy a flash drive to make this work. At least that's what HP says. When I connect the modem to the router, I get an error message on my monitor saying I am no longer connected to the internet and I should check my connections. The ethernet light never comes on on the router. I never get past step 4/4 (waiting for router). At this point, the process freezes, and I have to use Task Manager to end the program. At the end of it all my computer 1) can't find the router 2) Is disconnected from the internet 3) Can't locate a wireless connection. I am so ready to throw this in the trash and never buy Linksys again. I have been to a bazillion websites, and many, many people are having similar problems.

MB-Air uses maverick downloaded yesterday - upgrade from mountain lion. MB uses snow leopard still, as i am quite used to it and am thinking of upgrade if mavericks work fine on air. Yes, the Old Master file has a folder for each year where I find all photos from that specific year. I am attaching a screen shot of the file.
In the meantime i have managed to download all photos (it did not download any video files though in mpg, avi, 3gp, m4v,mp4 and mov format) to a new iphoto library. Unfortunately the photos are quite mixed and often doubled up. I ma considering to purchase iphoto library which checks all duplicates in iphoto. this will save me a lot of time. What do you think?

A Windows Explorer window will appear, in this window, choose '''Mozilla''' then '''Firefox''' then '''Profiles'''. Each folder in the "Profiles" folder (e.g., "xxxxxxxx.default") is a profile on your computer (maybe is one file if you have only one profile).

If you are having issues with printing from your iMac I would suggest that you troubleshoot using the steps in this article -

Specifically -
Troubleshooting steps you can use if there is an issue
Ensure the printer is connected, has power, has ink / toner, paper, and no alerts on its built-in display.
Network based printers should be on the same subnet; you shouldn't have to worry about this if your printer is on your home network.
Use Software Update for the latest available updates.
Delete the affected printer from Printer & Fax System Preferences, then re-add the printer.
If the issue persists, try these additional steps:
Reset the printing system (see below). Then, add the printer again.
If the issue persists, reset the printing system again. Download and install your printer's drivers from here. Then, add the printer again.
If the issue still persists, contact the printer vendor or visit their website for further assistance.
