Helper files crashing my computer
My MacPro will get the spinning beachball, I'll open Activity Monitor and I'll either see iCalHelperApp or iChatHelperApp not responding. Once I force quit them the computer comes back to life. Is there a way to delete these files? Do I need them?
HI Raindog,
I wonder if perhaps these applications are launching when you boot the MacPro. Here's one way to find out. Go to System Preferences/Accounts/Login Items. If those apps appear in the box, simply select each app then click the minus in the box below. Reboot. This will keep the apps from launching when you boot but do not delete these files from your hard drive. iCal and iChat need those files to run properly.
Hope this helps!

Help Files Crash Dreamweaver every time...!
I have looked for a solution to this online but drawn a blank
so far.
No matter what I'm doing in Dreamweaver, the moment I try to
access any of the Help files via the drop down menu (or press F1
for that matter) the program hangs for five seconds or so before
crashing to desktop.
I've uninstalled and reinstalled everything once.
Has anyone else heard of this before, and, more to the point,
does anyone have a solution?
Thank you in advance.

That usually means that it's not finding the location of the
browser you
have designated as the system default browser.

Scanned jpeg file crashes computer
I have a Canon 8800F printer. It's worked fine using Mavericks, but I just bought a new iMac that's running Yosemite (10.10.3) and it's been a nightmare.
At first the 8800F wasn't showing up at all, but I found directions about resetting the printing system and reinstalling the scanner. Now it shows up and I seemed to be able to scan using the Printers & Scanners system preference.
What's strange/awful is that when I click on the jpeg file that's created by the scanner it crashes the computer. I tried producing a tiff file instead, which opens up ok, but when I covert the tiff to jpeg the resulting jpeg file crashes the computer.
The other thing that I don't see an option for scanning transparencies. Under Mavericks I was using photoshop CS3, but that doesn't seem to be compatible with Yosemite.
Help!I think that I discovered that this only happens when scanning at the highest resolution (9200). It's not a RAM issue, as I have no problem opening the TIFF, which is much bigger than the jpeg. Kind of a drag as I scan a lot of negatives and some single frames from proof sheets, and I've never had this problem before the new iMac/Yosemite.

Please help. When exporting a 720p video using Quicktime Conversion in FCP it saves some extra temporary files to my computer. The temporary file it saves is called ICMMultiPassStorage. This file gets so large that eventually the program and exporting process crashes. I have been able to locate the file using GrandPerspective and close out of FCP to delete it. But when I try exporting the movie again it creates the ICMMultiPassStorage file again. I have made sure my scratch disks are set to my external hard drive so I know that isn't the issue. How do I fix this problem so these temporary files are not being stored on my internal hard drive instead of my external? Thanks!
Try exporting the timeline "using current settings" via Make QuickTime Movie, then submit that clip to Compressor for the transcode. This should be faster and less painful.

How do I delete a large file without my computer crashing?
I am playing around with HD video and have a very large Quicktime File (12.5GB) that froze my computer while rendering. I need to delete it. (CRASH: screen freezes and dark line slowly comes from top to bottom and once entire screen is slightly darker, a post in the middle pops up and tells me to turn off computer by holding power button).
After a lot of trial and error, it seems the problem is that the computer can't handle the massive deletion. Unlike a lot of other similar issues on this forum, this is a single file and not hundreds, so i can't delete portions at a time and be done with it. I have run through all my ideas and need help on how to delete this file from my computer and have come up with two possible ways:
1 - Split this video into smaller files. I dont know how to do this: I have SPLIT-CONCAT but that duplicates (then splits) and does not actually split the original. I tried "replacing" the video with the same-named smaller file and it crashed the computer.
2 - Change preferences on this computer somehow to allow this massive deletion. I tried a force empty through terminal and it did the same crash. I dont know if there is a preference (disk manager) or otherwise to get rid of this file.

HELP...New Computer with blue screen crashes
I recently bought a Toshiba Qosmio x875-q7290. The computer came installed with Nortons internet suite. I uninstalled Nortons via add/remove programs in the control panel. I installed Kaspersky pure. What happens now is that I get a blue screen with white writing that say something about reboot your computer if this is the first time that this error has happened. I can't read the rest of the message because the computer starts to reboot. After doing this about 5-6x, by computer would start to boot up then there was some type of Dll error message and I couldnt advance farther on the screen. I called Toshiba tch support and they suggested a complete system restore(losing all my data). This morning I was having the same problem. Here is what the detail message says

Despite the multiple BSODs, and the memory management errors, this still may well be a software conflict problem. The BHDrvx64.sys file seems to be from Symantec BASH service for Symantec Endpoint Protection. The tdx.sys file a Kaspersky file. If there are remnants of Symantec/Norton AV left on your system, along with the Kaspersky AV, this is not going to be healthy. None of the ntoskrnl.exe, which is the central Windows NT OS Kernel file, crashes are going to help us much.
Click 'Start -> Control Panel - Programs and Features' and completely uninstall any and all Symantec/Norton components that you find there. Then use the Kaspersky Removal Tool to completely uninstall Kaspersky.
If no Symantec/Norton components appear in 'Programs and Features', let us know. It gets a lot more complicated to do this manually. In that case, begin by:
Then trying to stop the BASH driver BHDdrvx64
a. Open the Device Manager (devmgmt.msc)
b. Choose View > Show hidden devices and look for the BHDdrvx64 driver under 'Non-Plug and Play Drivers'
c. Right-click the driver and choose Properties
d. Select the 'Driver' tab to access the Startup Type option
e. Set Startup Type to 'Disabled'
f. Click 'OK' and reboot the system
Yes, Microsoft Security Essentials will provide all the protection you need, and have a much lighter touch with regard to resource demands.
Your Minidump analyses appear below. Give us an update on how things go with the uninstalls and the system seems after that.

Crash on search function for HTML Help file (.chm) when
connected to a Visual C++ application
I use the RH_ShowHelp API command to connect a HTML Help file
(.chm file generated by RoboHelp Word X 5) to my Visual C++
application. My application is able to call up this HTML help file
in context-sensitive mode and everything is working great in the
Contents and Index panels EXCEPT when I click on List Topics (after
I enter a KEYWORD for search) in the Search panel.
I got an error that said “Unhandled exception in
xxxx.exe.(HHCTRL.OCX):0xC00000FD: Stack overflow”
I am able to execute this .chm file by itself and the search
function works well in this case. I am using HHActiveX.dll that is
created on 2/23/04. Is this the correct version?? Any advice what
to do here??Hi agschin and welcome to the RH forums. The hhactivex.dll
file is not used by the search function so you can rule that our.
Have you tried recompiling and seeing if the problem still happens?
You can also start the Bug Hunter feature in RH - View > Output
View and then select the Bug Hunter button - and see if that throws
up any clues. -

I'm using windows xp home edition 32 bit, have updated my drivers, and have tried to use several different versions of the flash player 10( installing the other versions first), as well as trying to use it in internet explorer 8, firefox 5, and google chrome. The computer does not crash unless the flash player is in use. I have tried everything I can think of, to no avail. This problem did not happen UNTIL I was forced to udate the flash player to the latest version in order to watch Hulu and you tube due to their requirements. PLEASE HELP!

I want to move my iweb domain files to another computer, I read the directions in help but the file isn't where it says it is, can anyone direct me?
Where are you looking?
Here:
User>Library>Application Support>iWeb
Keep in mind that your Library folder is hidden by default in Mountain Lion.
To find it, hold down the option key and choose the Go menu in the Finder.
You might also want to try posting your question over in the iWeb area.

Quicklook helper crashes my computer ever since I updated to 10.10.3
ever since I updated to 10.10.3, when i select a file in finder(while in column view) the Quicklook(or preview function to see what the file looks like) crashes my computer(panic shutdown) SI their a fix to this?
The combo updater includes all the past updates. If something wasn't quite right then the combo updater may fix it. Then sometimes it because the first update did not work properly. The second one fixes that. There are no other differences.

In iWeb I created a hyperlink to a file on my computer. When I publish I get a 404 error for the link. Can anyone help?
How would I check to see if the like works when I enable via the inspector pane
If you enable hyperlinks when you click on the link link to the pdf file it will open a browser window and display the pdf file.
I upload the pdf files to the server and link to them as if they were an external web page:
That's been more reliable for me than linking to the file as Link To: A file and have iWeb upload the pdf file to the serve.
