If you feel comfortable doing so, it really helps if you put your exchange name or location in your signature or each new topic.. this helps correlate issues to a locality without having to ask each time..

The installation process necessarily runs under the account of the installing user. The installation will query AD to identify information about the service accounts, and will add them to the relevant CRM AD groups. It is possible that the installing user
account does not have sufficient privileges on the AD objects for the service accounts to be able to identify them, and to add them to groups. This scenario is consistent with the errors that you get, and also with being able to install CRM to run under NetworkServices
(which doesn't have its own AD object)

I understand this, but as far as i know running it under NETWORK SERVICES will add the machine names to the OU security groups - hence the user installing still needs to have delegated permissions on that OU. Anyway as mentioned above - ignoring the checks
and running the installation solved this and also added the accounts to the security groups - so this whole mess looks like some bug to me - not sure i will ever find out what it was :)

Finder batch file rename function. I have multiple files I want to rename, that have a date in their name in the mm/dd/yy format. The slashes seem to freak out the batch rename function and it won't work. I took out the slashes and worked fine. Any workarounds that would help me avoid manually changing each name? I should point out that I want to leave most of the name intact just change the first word in each name. Also the files I'm working with are in PDF format.That's a comment in the file. any help or being pushed in the right direction would be greatly apperciated!!Your college IT people would have to have "enabled" iPhone connections to their Exchange servers, it's quite possible they have not done that. In either case, contact your college IT people to determine if they even allow this and, if they do, the Exchange server info you need to enter. They are the key.

Hey I got my phone stolen yesterday, but it was dead for 24 hours before i checked find my phone so it says offline. I called verizon suspended my service and they said if the person tried to sell it back, or put their number on it, it will get flagged. I was just wondering if i should reinstate my service and try and wait for it to turn back on and then go get it because you need internet for it to track and with the suspended service, it can only track if connected to wifi, but they wont get past my password.

Need to identify the same people based on their (misspelled) names

we have a table with persons and their name (first name and last name in 1 field) ;
the names are often mispelled, so some string comparison is required;
can you advise what the best approach would be to uniquely identify the same people?
so far i have only found this functions :utl_match.jaro_winkler_similarity and SOUNDEX
is there anything else 'out of box' i could make use of to implement the above?

rgdsUTL_MATCH (either the Jaro-Winkler or the edit distance functions) would generally be preferred. SOUNDEX is a less sophisticated algorithm.
In the general case, however, doing this sort of thing yourself is extremely difficult. There are commercial products out there that just help you do fuzzy matching on names. If you're going to build something yourself, you're likely going to spend a large amount of time trying to fine-tune the algorithm to try to balance type 1 (false positive, you match names that you shouldn't) and type 2 errors (false negative, you fail to match names that you should). To do it well will require a rather large number of meetings with users trying to figure out the appropriate balance of errors in your particular environment.

Why won't Apple put the photo name in the Photos app?!
I keep hoping that Apple will do a very simple thing and that is put the photo name/title in the Photos app for iOS. It's not even available in the iOS version of iPhoto as near as I can tell. This one simple thing would be a tremendous boon to anyone showing photos under any circumstances. "1 of 55" is not very helpful. What possible reason could make this undesirable? It isn't confusing or cluttering up the interface. Nothing is as simple as syncing photos to an iPad with iTunes; I've looked at Photosmith, and while a very nice app, you have to create & publish individual collections from Lightroom one at a time. Does anyone know if it's possible to force the title to be shown? I've read that the information isn't even transferred to the iPad or iPhone but at least some metadata is transferred for iOS iPhoto.

Can I stop iWeb from putting a page name at the top?
I don't want page names across the top in iWeb. I have a list of hyperlinked icons on the side for that.

The title is taken from the large textbox at the top of each webpage.
If that box is missing or empty, iWeb uses a next textbox for the title.
If that is missing too, the pagename is used for the title.
If you want the title in the titlebar but not the large textbox on your page, select the textbox, do Cm-T and drag the font-size slider to the bottom.
Then click the color next to the T-icon and drag that opacity slider to the left (0).
Then resize the textbox to it minimun size and drag it out of view. And don't forget you did.
But I think the OP means the navigation links at the top. -
ITunes No Longer Runs--iTunes Helper Resources Not a Valid File Name
I made a dumb mistake (I think) and tried to install iTunes onto an SD card. At first, my computer would only let me open iTunes if the SD card was installed. I tried to reinstall to the C drive, but keep getting the "I Tunes Helper Resources not a Valid File Name" message. At this point I want to uninstall everything and start over, but I'm afraid I'll lose my music. I still have all the files but, of course, none will open since I don't have a properly installed iTunes anymore. Would appreciate any assistance in uninstalling, reinstalling and saving my current music files.
Here's what I decided to do. Fortunately, all the files were still available, so I simply backed them up from my iTunes Music Library onto a 32 GB flash drive then transferred the new stuff onto an older computer in my office with an older version of iTunes. I had to do this in several shifts since I have more than 32GB of music. Everything that transferred plays well. Next I'll try to wipe iTunes completely off the new computer, reinstall an older version of iTunes and then reload all the files onto the new computer. What a PITA!

I have not been able to open up Lightroom on my computer for over a year now. Whenever I double click on it, this comes up - can anyone help? Problem signature: Problem Event Name:APPCRASH Application Name:lightroom.exe Application Version:3.4.1.10
First thing to try is the latest version of Lightroom (currently 5.6). If it don't crash, then problem solved - upgrade.
If Lr5 won't run on your machine, then Lr4 instead.
If both Lr5 and Lr4 crash on your machine, then at least you know it's a not a Lightroom version problem but something wonked in your system.
If you can't figure out how to resolve the crash on the system you have, then it's time for a new system (or try another converter/editor app).
PS - A few things to try:
* After re-installing new version, if that doesn't fix it, then get rid of all Lightroom-related data files (rename them so they can be restored), in case problem is in Lr data file.
* Remove all non-essential hardware in case problem is hardware/driver.
* Startup up machine with minimal software services.
* If still no go, consider updating driver software, including mainboard drivers and/or bios firmware if need be.
* Of course run all the system hardware and software diagnostics you can - problem could be failing disk or ram..
* Check system event logs for any clues.
If you don't know how to do some of these things - ask.
Do not say "you've tried everything" unless you want a lecture - there is most definitely something you haven't tried. It's like when you can't find your car keys - you haven't looked everywhere - there is somewhere you haven't looked!
PS - Has Lightroom EVER worked on your machine? what's changed since then..

A plugin called LR/Transporter could probably automate that. However, I don't think many people will want to do this once all usages of the image are considered!
So an export plugin called LR/Mogrify (which calls in the utility ImageMagick as an output processor) would be the next suggestion. This should let you put more or less whatever image parameter you want, onto the image as an automated label - also add borders outside or inside the image boundary, place the thumbnail inside a larger square canvas, a few other options. Then that can all be saved as a LR export preset for greater convenience and repeatability in the future. -
How come when I look at my text messages, my contacts' phone numbers appear instead of their contact names?
If you're with Verizon, here's what I found on the boards:
Dial *228, press 1 when the nice lady answers and wait until she tells you your phone has been successfully programmed.
Then hang up, and press the home key twice rapidly and delete the open/running apps that appear there - delete from that second screen, NOT from the Dock at the bottom of your home screen! You don't want to delete the programs, you just want to close the open/running apps.
Wait 5 minutes or so, then voila! Mine was fixed!
