HELPP!!! My iPod is Lagging and Skipping!

As said in the other thread -- I have restored my iPod, and it still is running slow, and long pauses have been happening while the song is playing. While selecting songs, it lags & sometimes freezes. I don't know what to do! It has just started doing this very recently. All songs play perfect in iTunes. I have backed up all of my music so I am willing to do anything to fix my iPod! HELP!

Evan,
You posted a reply in another topic, have you checked that, I added a response.

  • I pod lags and skips songs

Recently my Ipod started skipping while playing songs. It would freeze for 3-10 sec. and then resume playing. Also, when I change the song it lags and freezes for at least 10 seconds before it starts playing the new song.
I have restored and updated my Ipod already and the problem persists. Can someone help me out?
    Thanks.

I've happened upon a solution that might work for some of you. My iPod doesn't freeze or lag, but from time to time it skips the last 10-20 seconds of a tune and goes straight to the next one. This procedure fixed the problem on the affected song files on my Mac. Why it works, I have no idea, but give it a shot!
    1) In iTunes, select the problem file and rename the artist. For example, I renamed my Stevie Wonder tunes with the artist name "Doug." (Don't worry, you're going to change it back later!)
    2) Sync your iPod.
    3) Try the files you've renamed. Hopefully, they'll play just fine. If so, then...
    4) Back in iTunes, select the file(s) again and change the artist name back to what it should be (e.g., my Doug files become Stevie Wonder again, merciful Zeus!!)
    5) Sync your iPod again.
This is a bit of a pain, of course, but I think it's better than having to re-import your songs, especially if you've added content in, say, the comments field, or if you're uptight and you actually value things like play count records, like me!
    Cheers!

  • Why does my ipod keep freezing and skipping songs?

I have the 80GB Ipod Classic, and for some reason it keeps skipping songs, for instance, whenever I go to look under a certain artist or a playlist of even just under "songs" I'll pick one and then it will skip one or two or ten, and there are some songs it just doesn't allow me to listen to anymore. Only on my ipod though, not on itunes. It also keeps freezing and will sometimes just stop in the middle of a song and skip to a new one. I've tried resetting it, and leaving it alone for a few days and letting it charge and leaving it off. Nothing seems to work.
    What can I do?

I had this problem with my old 20GB classic ipod, it all started when I began using my ipod for my running trainings, every day it used to get worse freezing every 10 minutos or so, then I got ****** and bought a new 80GB classic Ipod, I have it for about 3 weeks now and guess what? It started freezing or skiping songs also. I did a test where I synced the same library on my both ipod and the songs being skipped on my new one wasnt being skipped on the old one, so its a problem with the song, then I though it could be any damage in the ipod HD but my new ipod has no reason to be damaged, the only impact that it might have recived is from my running trainings, but the impacts are really weak. Other test I did was trying to remove the song being skiped from the ipod, everytime I did that my ipod couldnt be ejcted, it kept showing me the following message "The ipod canot be ejcted because it contains files that are used by another aplication." I had to unplug my ipod without ejecting it.

  • 120gb ipod keeps resetting and skipping tracks

I just recently bought a brand new 120gb ipod adn all of the sudden it is skipping down tracks in the middle of a song and it also resets on its own...i will be searching through my artist list and it will all the sudden reset and go back to the apple logo then it is fine for a while until it does ti again...i have tried the five r's and am feeling angry that this keeps happening...if anyone has any suggestions or an answer for that matter it would be gratly appreciated..

I just bought a new macbook pro and got the 120gb ipod with it for $20 after the rebate. i downloaded all my songs onto the new computer and then synced them with the new ipod. the songs would play all the way through but the ipod started skipping in the middle of the song to go to the next song. so it would play though a whole bunch of songs, then halfway through one, it would skip to the next. at first i thought it was a corrupt song so i pressed the previous button to see if the song would play all the way though and the song wound up playing completely and then move onto the next song. it began to do it more frequently so i brought it to the apple store and they swapped it for a new one. i just synced the ipod again and its skipping again. I took my old 30gb ipod and synced it to the same exact itunes library so both ipods mirrored each other and the 120gb still skips but the 30gb doesnt. so i have no idea what is going on with the 120gb ipod but i want to find a solution to this problem before my warranty runs out. can anyone please help?

  • IPod keeps freezing and skipping.

I'm still under warranty until christmas but can i still get it replaced since it's a 30 gb? they have the iPod classic now so i don't know if i can get it replaced.

  • 160GB Classic 6th Gen Pauisng And Skipping Songs

I have a 160gb 6th generation that bought in Aug 2008. Just a couple of days ago my iPod started pausing and skipping songs by itself. I did some research and found out this a problem for this model. Does anybody have any ideas to correct this problem? I'm going to the apple store today but I have a feeling they are going to say "nothing we can do about it". My AppleCare warranty ended last month and I spent $350 plus tax on this iPod I want it to last longer than this.

  • FREEZING AND SKIPPING ON IPOD

I received a message that my Ipod was corrupted and I had to reinstall to factory settings. I did that and since then my Ipod freezes when playing and skips songs. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this?
    Thank you.

] Windows users having trouble with their iPods should locate a Mac user. In many cases when an iPod won't show up on a PC that it will show up on the Mac. Then it can be restored. When the PC user returns to his computer the iPod will be recognized by the PC, reformatted for the PC, and usable again. By the way, it works in reverse too. A Mac user often can get his iPod back by connecting it to a PC and restoring it.
    Tips
    a. It does not matter whether the format is completed or not, the key is to erase (or partly) the corrupted firmware files on the Hard Drive of the iPod. After that, when the iPod re-connected with a computer, it will be recognized as an fresh external hard drive, it will show up on the iTunes 7.
    b. It is not a difficult issue for a Mac user to find a window base computer, for a PC user, if they can’t find any Mac user, they can go to a nearest Apple Shop for a favor.
    c. You may need to switch around the PC and Mac, try to do several attempts between “Format” and “Restore”

  • Whenever I play a certain song on my iPod, it will stop in the middle and skip to the next song in the album

Whenever I play this one song on my iPod nano, it stops in the middle and skips to the next song. It's the same for iTunes. I had looked it up on other forums and other people with the same problem were told that they had to reinstall iTunes or something, not sure I'll really have to do that. Thank you for any advice!

Well, the problem is with iTunes, too. It will still skip on there. Will I have to delete it from there and download it again.

  • IPod Nano is lagging, and no music is playing. Headphones work. Half battery. ***, mate?

I went to use my iPod Nano this morning and it won't play music. My headphones work, and it still makes the sound when I shuffle it. It also appears to be significantly lagging by 2-3 seconds. I have a half battery. What's going on?

If none of the 5 R's of troubleshooting are able to solve the problem, the issue is hardware related, meaning you'll need to have the iPod serviced or replaced.  The LCD screen may have simply burned out or wore out over time.

It wouldn't also hurt to the let iPod's battery full drain. Then charge the iPod back up and go through the 5 R's again.

  • Can I load and skip through multiple playlists on iPod shuffle 2nd gen?

For the sake of this discussion, let's assume I have a workout playlist and a dining jazz playlist in iTunes.
Q1: I understand that I can manually select "a" playlist in iTunes and move that to my iPod shuffle. And I understand how to manually order the songs to be stored in that same order on the shuffle. Can I move both playlists and have both ordered they I way I choose in iTunes? I am assuming yes.
Q2: Once both playlists exist on the shuffle, can I skip between playlists? Is there a short cut key or key sequence on the shuffle to do this? I understand the shuffle button to use shuffle or not shuffle. I want to play only workout songs while working out and jazz while dining. Or do I have to download songs from iTunes before I workout and then again before dining to only get the playlist I want for that activity?
    Thanks.

Assuming is always dangerous... the answer is NO. ONLY if you combine BOTH lists by dragging the contents of teh second one onto the Shuffle will you have ALL the songs on the Shuffle.

You can't skip to a different "playlist" directly... you can only go to the beginning of teh Shuffle's stored songs by 3 quick presses of PLAY. Otherwise you can skip back and forth with the |<< and >>| buttons.
    Thanks.
