Helvetica regular font missing in Photoshop CS3, but not in CS5 on the same computer

I have both Photoshop CS3 and CS5 installed on a Windows 7 64-bit system. Photoshop CS5 has two Helvetica fonts: one TrueType and one Type 1. The TT version only offers italic and bold italic styles. The T1 font offers the full suite of bold, italic, bold italic (or oblique), and medium (or regular). This seems odd, but it's sufficient. Photoshop CS3, on the same computer, only offers me the Helvetica TT font, with just the two styles mentioned above. Why can't CS3 see the T1 Helvetica? Why does the TT Helvetica only show me two styles? In case it's relevant, I believe the Type 1 version is the only one I deliberately installed, and I recently upgraded to a 2010 version of the font made available by Adobe (to resolve another issue with Microsoft Word 2010).

There is by default no Helvetica on PCs. Wherever those fonts come from, is some place else. Either another program installed them or you bought the font fron Linotype. The latetr is doubtful, of course, in light of what you stated. Aside from that you may wish to check your Adobe font directory (C:\Programm Files\Common Fiels\Adobe\Fonts) vs. your system font directory. For CS3 this would be relevant. Typefaces not showing up usualyl means that multiple fonts occupy the same name or the font system can't figure out things for otehr reasons...

I'm not 100% sure but i may have had flash open when installing, i then uninstalled the font and then reinstalled the font. I even tried going from an OTF font to a TTF font.
No luck.
Do I need to do some sort of font cache clearing?

Yes. It's rare, but some fonts do not play well with Flash. Flash seems to have a more strict method of evaluating a font that can be imported. This is, in my opinion, probably because Flash needs to create a faux version of a font when it is imported. There may be some information that is either missing or not acceptable to Flash in a particular font and so Flash won't allow it to be used - even if you're not going to import that font.

Image looks grainy in Photoshop CC but not in CS5

All of my images look grainy int he dark areas in CC, but not in CS5. Is there a display setting that I'm missing? Side note, the saved images look fine. They only look bad in the CC UI.

So is it a display problem rather than a performance one? I think it was mentioned that the artefacts a not there on saved documents. It is also one of those issues that would be fixed by resetting preferences, because the cache levels would go back to four. It actually says right there on Preferences > Performance in the History & Cache section 'Set cache levels to two or higher for optimum performance' .

Which makes it very disappointing that Tech Support couldn't track it down. I suspect they work more from Expert Systems than their own knowledge, so they have a bit of work to do there.

When I reinstalled Photoshop CS 5 on the same computer, my .exe file disappeared. Where is my Photoshop?

There was no icon,no executable file in the programs folder, and no working shortcuts to launch the program after installation. I was installing from a CD, not a downloadable file.
I followed advice from another poster who deleted the PCD cache, uninstalled the program, and reinstalled the program. I deleted the cache at "C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\Adobe PCD\cache" before uninstalling and reinstalling CS5 and now I have a working program.

I just upgraded to CS5 from CS3, the ftp worked for me in CS3, but not in CS5

I believe the settings are the same but when I transfer a file up to the site, it appears to get truncated. The web page appears blank, and when I use the browser to view source there is barely 1 line of html.
When I transfer the same file using Windows Explorer logged into the ftp site, the file transfers and the web page displays properly. What did I miss in the new confuration?

Windows explorer? Really? Plenty of other FTP solutions out there.
Anyways, there is a new setting in CS5 but it should be disabled if the site was defined back in CS3. Manage your site and edit the FTP server information. There is an arrow for More Options and the new option is for FTP Performance Optimization. Try disabling that and see if you are able to transfer files again. If it is not, you should click on Site->Advanced->FTP Log and consult with your host the result of the log.

Airplay works for one user but not for another on the same machine

I have the problem where airplay works for one user but not for another and both users are on the same machine. For the user where it does not work, everything appears normal, it's just that there is no sound being transmitted. I have tried restarting the Airport express, restarting iTunes, repairing disk permissions. Any ideas about what can be done to resolve this?

TS4002 Why can I attach a PDF file in Gmail, but not in iCloud on the same iMac?

My wife and I share the same iCloud account with two separate email addresses. She has been having problems periodically over the last serveral months accessing and receiving mail on our iPad and less frequently on our iMac. I have not had as many issues, but recently have had difficulty attaching pdf files to my mail. I can do it easily in Gmail on the same iMac! Whats up?
My iMac is getting old in the tooth, it is a 2006 model, not eligible for Mountain lion. Our iPad is the first, updated to use ios5.

I migrated to iCloud from Mobile Me. In Mobil Me there was a family plan. I'm not sure what it is called in iCloud. It was my understanding that both our email addresses were part of the same plan. At any rate my wife frequently has had problems accessing her mail on our iPad. I have attributed all this to Lion not being as sharp as it could be or developmental problems with iCloud. But I know from nothing.
I'm not sure of anything, but I am relatively certain we have an iCloud account. I didn't even know the iTunes had a mail feature.

I have two Palms (one for me - one for wife). We also have two logins on the iMac.
Objective: Sync with iCal, Address Book (i.e. not Palm Desktop utilities)
My Palm (T2) has been installed for 2 years - syncing flawlessly
Her Palm (new E2 - installed tonight) will sync Contacts but not iCal. When I place test entries into either the Palm or her iCal, iSync sees the new data and claims it has transferred it but it doesn't show up in the destination device. Both directions fail.
It seems that the system is smart enough to connect the right Palm with the right set of iCal/Address Book whichever person is currently logged in and I have seen exactly the same problem, regardless of whether only one or both users is logged in (with Fast User switching).
It seems as if lots of people have observed iCal sync problems with Palms while the other apps sync fine but I haven't yet seen somebody with two Palms like me having different experiences.
Is there something particularly flaky about Tungsten E2 or is this an issue between two different versions of Palm OS?

Assuming that the issue outlined below is not the problem, and that you have unique HotSync names, have you tried logging out, having her log in, and performing an initial synchronization in iSync? Procedures for that are outlined below.

Mac OS X 10.3, 10.4, Palm HotSync: Fast User Switching - one Mac OS X user may sync at a time
One logged in user may sync a PDA via Palm HotSync at a time. This applies to iSync Palm Conduits, too.
When your computer is using Fast User Switching and other users are logged in, you can't sync your Palm OS-based device using Palm HotSync or iSync.
This can happen if another account has already used Palm HotSync or iSync to sync a Palm OS-based device. Have the other person log out of his account. Log out of your account, then log back in. You should be able to sync.
Before you perform the procedure outlined below, be sure that you are logged out and she is logged in, and that the drop-down preference pane which appears for her device in iSync when you press the Tungsten icon has legitimate calendar options selected.
To reset and perform an initial synchronization, launch iSync and open the Preferences… dialog. Press the Reset Sync History… button, then perform an initial synchronization. When asked if you want to Replace or Merge your data, choose Replace. This will overwrite the data on her handheld, and subsequent synchronizations should work properly, so long as you are not logged in in the background.
This issue has nothing to do with the different Palm OS releases embedded in your respective devices.

Epson plug-in to scan shows up 'works' in CS3 but not in CS5

I've been using an Epson Workforce 635 scanner-printer and have it working perfectly from within CS3 Photoshop using the file>import>epson plug-in.
This does not work in CS5. I simply dragged and dropped the plug-in from the CS3 plug-ins folder to the CS5 plug-ins folder, but it does not show up at all in file>import, neither does the twain plug-in which I also had been using in the older version of Photoshop.
Is there a different way I need to handle this in CS5?

The older TWAIN plugin won't work, you need to download the TWAIN plugin for Photoshop CS5.
I've downloaded and installed the latest 'Lion' plug-in from Epson so that's not it. I know there is a keystroke combination needed to launch CS5 in 32 bit mode but I'll have to search that out.
I'll search for a TWAIN plug-in for CS5 as that would be useful too.

Can multiple users use Photoshop CC on the same computer?

My daughter has an account on my MBP and needs to use Photoshop for her Photography class. This wasn't an issue with Photoshop CS6. However, with Photoshop CC, it is asking her to purchase a Photoshop CC subscription. Is there any way she can just use Photoshop CC from her account on my laptop?

Is there a reason why she can not use photoshop using your account since your sharing the same computer?

Can I run Photoshop CS4 and CS5 on the same system?

I read somewhere a zillion years ago (right?) that you coould run CS4 and CS5 on the same system but at the time I wasn't even considering it.

Yes, you can run CS4 an CS5 on the same computer. They install in different folders and don't get in each other's way. As a matter of fact, you will find many posts in this forum from the experts recommending to keep CS4 (or an earlier version) when installing CS5. This way, there is no danger of losing any older plug-ins you may have that aren't compatible to CS5.
When I installed PS CS5 I had problems with my scanner driver. Instead of spending loads of time fixing that problem, I just use PS CS4 when I want to spend an afternoon scanning things. I'm not recommending that "lazy man's" solution, but it is an example of how CS4 and CS5 can be used on the same system.

Helvetica regular font CS6 Yosemite non-functional

I have two Mac computers, both using Yosemite and CS6 suites and the Helvetica regular font on both of them is non-functional at this time. The font will work on other applications like Word, and even show up under the menus on CS6 programs, but when you select Helvetica regular you get an error. If an old file uses the Helvetica regular font, the file won't print or even save until the font is replaced with another font. The font checks out as ok in the font book program. The other Helvetica variations like Light, bold, etc. work fine. As far as i have been able to discover, all of the other fonts work as well. Both computers work identically, so I can't imagine the font file is corrupted...
Any suggestions?

Is it a free Helvetica font or something, or is it the genuine one from Linotype?
In the former case, you may be out of luck: Illy is particularly particular about the quality of fonts, because she can work with them at a deeper/higher level than most, so you can easily have a font that works in all other applications, but Illy refuses to recognize it as a font.
Some failing fonts discussed in earlier threads have turned out to have rather basic flaws, such as redundant, superfluous, or (if I remember rightly) even stray points, or other clear errors in the paths that they consist of.
If it is a free one, you may need to get the real thing or look for similar fonts that Illy is willing to work with.

Photoshop CS3 crashes at start up all the time after few months of working well

My problem with Photoshop started last week. It hangs (freezes) all the time and I am not able to work on it at all. I did reinstall the photoshop, created a new user on my imac, cleaned preferences and I don't have a CD in my my DVD drive, but it still crashes every time I open it. Doesn't allow me to do anything. Any suggestions? I can see the top menu items, but the moment I click on HELP it hangs. If I open a file I can't do anything with it as it freezes.
Details as per above: Mac OS X 10.5.4, iMac, 2.4GHZ INTEL CORE 2 DUO, 2GB 667 DDR2 SD RAM - 2x1GB, 320GB Serial ATA Drive (129 GB free space), SuperDrive 8x DL, two external 500 GB hard drives (one storage and the other one for time machine backup), Adobe Creative Suite 3 Design Premium-Photoshop CS3. All other applications from the suite work with no problems, just photoshop hangs every time i try to click anything. I have to force quit every time.
The only new thing I did is install a new Lexmark Wi-Fi X9350 printer. Would this be a problem?

Lightroom 3 and Photoshop CS3 do not recognise Canon PowerShot S90 raw files

My husband has lightroom 3 and Photoshop CS3 but they don't recognise CanonPowershot S90 camera raw files. I've tried searching for the problem on internet but can't find anything that helps. Adobe's DNG converter doesn't work either. I've tried different versions of the DNG converter to no avail. Buying a new Adobe product is out of the question.
Another problem is that his e-mail address has been changed so that he can't login to his Adobe account. We used to be able to contact Adobe Netherlands by phone or email but that option isn't available anymore.

for the final versions of LR3. Download and install the software. You do not need to remove your present installation first, LR will install over it and fix any faults that now exist.
Your husband can log onto his Adobe account with the old email address and when in the account can edit the address to the new one.

No, you do not need to uninstall CS3 before installing CC. You should still be able to use it (not sure if there will be any issues though).
What you might try before buying is installing CC as a 30 day trial. That will make things clear without having to chance the investment.
