where does flash builder 4 store what workspace to open. It keeps crashing with the current one before fb4 opens

hi,
in the prefs file is a list of the most recent workspaces, if you delete the first one (including the /n)
C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Flash Builder 4\configuration\.settings\org.eclipse.ui.ide.prefs
also reduce the number by one in RECENT_WORKSPACES_PROTOCOL
that should fix it

Which AIR SDK version does Flash Builder 4 come with

I have both Flex Builder 3 and Flash Builder 4 and would like to experiment with the AIR 2 Beta SDK.
Does Flash Builder 4 (since it's new) already come with AIR 2, or what do I do to have access to the AIR 2 SDK.
I'm working with the Eclipse plugin edition if that makes any difference, but answers from non-eclipse users are equally appreciated.

The SDKs you get from Adobe (unless specified) come with Air 1.5
If you want the Air 2 beta SDK (http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/air2.html) You have to get the Flex SDK of choice (http://opensource.adobe.com/wiki/display/flexsdk/Flex+SDK) and the Air 2 SDK. You then overlay it on the Flex SDK (Using the instructions from the previous post)
Keep in mind that we have no idea when Adobe will decide to release Air 2, so if you are developing for it, you might have to wait on your release until they are ready. On top of that, you cannot have a user auto-update from air2beta to air2release. Basically, you can only "play" with it for now

Flash builder 4.7 periodic workspace save

Hi users!
I've recentlly installed Flash builder 4.7.
After 1/2 days without any issue, i encouter now an issue that make me crazy!
It's appen when FB try to save my workspace, my system become really unstable (sometime Kernel panic!!! ) for a while.
After a panel appear inside FB4.7 that say :
flash builder 4.7 periodic workspace save encouter ..... blabalbal
Someone have the same issue, or i'm a poor lonesome user?

When go to compile my mobile flex app I get cant resolve ViewNavigationApplication and new flex mobile projects do not 'finish' when using the wizard.

Have AIRSDK 3.5 with ASC 2.0 is working nicely. Also must remember, when updating SDK need to make sure there are not firewall restrictions to the new commands (adt)
This has solved my ios deployment issue with AIR 3.4 (which was only reason invesigating AIR 3.6 in the first place)

Does Flash Builder 4.6 Support iphone 3g as well as 3gs development?

Hi guys,
I'm considering purchasing the full version of Flash Builder 4.6 in order to create flash applications for iphone. The only trouble is I have an iphone 3g (not a 3gs).
Before I go and invest in a new iphone 3gs or 4, as well as purchase the development certificate from apple, I was wondering weather any of your could confirm weather Flash Builder 4.6 supports iphone 3g as well as 3gs development?
I have read a few forums stating that Flash Builder only supports iphone 3gs and not 3g... I have also spoken to Adobe customer support who will not tell me until I purchase the full version of Flash Builder..
Would really appreciate any info on this... as it will otherwise save me a lot of wasted investment.

This was really helpful, thanks. Youve cleared up many of my queries as regards publishing for iphone/ipad. From what you've said i've deduced the following:
1. If i'm going to write my app for ipad and iphone I have to support both of either portrait or landscape. So if the ipad version is designed in Landscape, the iphone one has to be as well.
2. Designing my app at the new 'higher' resolution on the ipad will be pointless unless i'm publishing out via IOS 5.1. So I should stick to an ipad resolution of 1024x768.
One last thing.. as regards creating an app for the ipad AND iphone.. do I need to submit two different versions to the app store (one for ipad and one for iphone) or is it adviseable to simply design one app that can be scaled down from the ipad to the iphone? .. The only reason I ask this is because I want the controls for the game on the iphone to be in slightly different position, and look a little different.. would I have to pay double to submit two versions of the app, how does apple handle the submission of apps with different layouts for both devices?

Does Flash Builder 4.5 simulator support software keyboard?

Hi,
I have a TextInput component in a mobile project and when simulating my application the software keyboard does not appear when I try to enter text.
Does anyone know if the simulator supports the display of a software keyboard or do I have to run my application on a real device emulator to see it?

The Flash Builder simulator does not support the soft keyboard. You will have to test functionality related to this on an actual device.

Does Flash Builder 4 Profiler work with a Flex 4.5 project?

Hello.
This is my first post on this forum. I'm new in the world of Flex.
I'm trying to use the Flash Builder 4 Profiler, but it stopped working properly after I switched to Flex 4.5 SDK. With Flex 4.1 SDK everything was fine.
When I run my project under profiler I can see its live objects, but I don't see the app's window and cannot interact with it. I can see the project's icon in the dock but I see no window at all. I can run, debug the app... but profiler doesn't work.
I've tried to create a new project with just an empty 400x400 window. I have the same problem. If I switch back to Flex 4.1 SDK, the profiler works, but not with Flex 4.5 SDK.
Do you have any idea on how to solve this problem?

I think the issue here might be that ProfilerAgent.swf is not honoured by latest player. An upgrade to FlashBuilder 4.5 or above versions should help you out.

Doing Flash Builder Development on an External Server

Hello Forum Members,
We have been working with Flash Builder 4 Beta 2. We are interested in using Flex with a PhP server.
In Flash Builder 4, I can't seem to see any provision for developing and testing on a shared hosting server(Like HostGator). When I try to set the Web root and Web URL to an external server I get the message "The selected web root folder does not exist", and yet I know it exists.
It seems that the preferred method of development is to do it on a local server like XAMP with Zend AMF installed and then when development is done to upload all the necessary files to the main server and then test again on the target server.
My question is does Adobe intend for the development test server to be running on my local machine?
Are we at some point going to be able to point a PhP Flash Builder application to an external test server and do the development?
If we are not able to directly develop on an external server, is there any work around for this so we do not have to develop on a local server?

It can do FB front end, with a xAMP stack.

Does flash builder 4.6 have a simple method to include Native Extensions like Flash Pro cs6?

I've found a work around of removing the swc then adding it back. Such a damn pain in teh ***!

Why does Flash install completion close tabs when re-opening Safari?

Is this something that will be fixed soon or does Adobe just not care? It can be very time consuming to track down tabs that were left open for various reasons. Please fix this and have Safari re-open with tabs that were open before a Flash player update.

Why does flash player immediately stop working when i open my browser?

I tell you i really hope someone can help me, because im seriously getting fed up. Im running on Windows 8 OS and using an updated version of firefox with flash player version 11.8. Recently i had to replace my harddrive for my laptop and ever since relplaceing and even a little before i have been haveing major problems while playing video in firefox. Upon loading firefox, flash player stops working and immediately gives an error message, slowing the loading process considerably. Furthermore, while watching live video feeds, the video freezes constantly and even knocks me off my internet connection to where i have to run a troubleshooter to get back online. I have tried everything and still cannot fix this issue. Please help me. My WIn7 machine did this all the time on YouTube. I uninstalled BOTH Flash Player and Shockwave. Then I reinstalled Shockwave first, followed by Flash Player. I haven't seen a crash since.

When I clos Firefox 4.0 having multiple tabs open, Ff does not ask to store those tabs to open them the next time I start Ff. In the old version 3.* that possibility was there.

When I closed Ff in version 3.*, Ff asked me if the open tabs should be stored to ben opened the next time. So I never lost my session.
In Ff 4.0.1 that question is not asked. So I lose all open pages in all tabs.
What can I do to get that possibility in Ff 4.*?

Firefox now always stores the old session, and you can access it by going to the History menu and selecting "Restore Previous Session"
If you want Firefox to display the message to save the session, it can be turned back on by changing some preferences.

Flash builder 4.7 as plugin won't display asdoc

on windows 7 x64, I just installed Flash Builder 4.7 x64 on my existing eclipse 4.2 x64 (using "the Adobe Flash Builder 4.7 Plug-in Utility") and the asdoc popup won't display anything but the current element. If I start the standalone Flash Builder, using the same workspace and same project, it works fine. Do I need to configure something else so it works as a plugin?

My mistake...
There was a typo into the XML application descriptor, that prevented the app to install properly on the device.
Precisely, it wasn't a typo but raher a malformed <intent-filter> node. I launched adb tool from the console with adb install MyApp.apk command, and I saw this : Failure [INSTALL_PARSE_FAILED_MANIFEST_MALFORMED] in the terminal. From here it was easy to find the culprit.
What would be cool is to have this feature inside the Flash Builder's Console panel.

Where is the "done" button in Flash CS4 when using Flash Builder 4's new flash component or container?

The documentation for Flash Builder 4 beta says that after opening flash from flash builder, I should click a "done" button in flash and flash should close and what I created in flash should be included as a component or container in Flash Builder. Using the Flash Builder 4 beta on Windows, when I click on the "create in flash" button on the properties panel for either the new flash component or container, Flash CS4 opens, I create something in Flash and no "done" button is present. Nor is anything present in the menus resembling a "done" option. Where is it?

Still no done button. Now under commands in Flash I can convert symbols to flex components and containers and these show up in the Flash library.

I apparently didn't get one. I've looked under various workspace configurations. Another thing that seems odd is that when Flash opens I get the opening panel that allows me to select the type of file and version of AS I want to use. I select new file with AS3. Any ideas on why the "done" button wouldn't be present and if the opening panel is what I should expect on opening Flash after clicking the "create in Flash" button?

Flash Builder 4 and Bridge CS4

Hi everybody, absolute newbie here. I need to develop a custom metadata panel for Bridge CS4, it will be based on this post http://idletechnology.blogspot.com/2011/12/adobe-xmp-panel-improvements.html
I downloaded Flash Builder 4 and the FileInfo SDK 5.1. The problem is it apparently won't work in Bridge CS4, so I downloaded FileInfo SDK 4.4, which in turn doesn't work in Flash Builder 4.
What should I do to be able to develop the panel for Bridge CS4?

After a tremendous amount of frustration and days of exhaustive web searching, which yielded nothing, I stumbled across the answer by accident while leaving work so I thought I'd share it with you incase anyone else is experiencing the same frustration using flash builder 4 and windows authentication.
The resolution:
Turn off the flash builder 4 built-in network monitor.

Will Flash Builder 4.7 supports Flex 3.5 SDK

Does Flash Builder 4.7 Premium supports using Flex SDK 3.5 version. I have an existing application build on Flex SDK 3.5. Can I use FLash Builder 4.7 to make any enhancements on this existing application?

An AIR app is not just a SWF, but also its –app.xml file and then is usually packaged into a .AIR file. Just launching the SWF won’t work as it usually launches FlashPlayer which does not have AIR APIs.
