I'm working on a pc optibase card, capturing for MPEG-2, we are using Sonic scenarist, lately we are thinking on moving to DVD studio pro, only problem is that from our tests DVD sp can't recognize mpv files (optibase Mpeg -2) we tried to change the ending from mpv to m2v but with no result.

By de-muxing the file you will get an exact same copy.
As with all codecs there is normally some form of compression involved. If you have to convert for any reason there maybe some loss or degradation, but it should be minimal dependant on which codec you use.

I have an original iphone which i have had very little, if any problems. I updated to the 2.0.2 software that came out recently and everything was once again going fine. Here's where it gets interesting.
Two days ago, the bottom row of icons (phone, mail, safari, ipod) stopped responding. All of the other icons on both screen pages work fine. The "slide to unlock" works fine. I have noticed when I go to settings, the bottom icon doesn't respond in any screen either. Luckily, I can still use the phone through contacts and can still receive calls, but with no luck using the "end call" button.
I've read several of the posts in these discussions and have tried the reset, hard reset, restore, reinstall of 2.0.2. I know I'm not crazy, these icons don't work! Anyone out there ever had this happen or have any suggestions?

Here's a new one for you

Been having nothing but problems with idvd 08 in the past couple of days. The old won't open problem. Did the usual suggested fixes including a new user account. Also did "Old Toad's" preference fix. Can now open idvd but when I go to an existing project and open it, I get the first page menus and nothing else so try to reload the movie into the project and it kicks it back out(??).
Do I need to re-install idvd 08 and if so, what prefs etc do I delete?
Also one other question . . . if I have a project that exceeds the 4.2 capacity, can I burn it on a dual layer using the dual layer setting to accommodate the size of the file?

Check to see if the movie you wish to import is supported by iDVD. This is from Help:

Here's a tough one for you.....

Does anyone have knowledge of whether or not it is possible to start a LabVIEW program (run when opened), bring it to the front and display it full screen, and then shutdown certain windows components behind it such as explorer, and ther various services, so that it remains running the VI but opens up as much system resources for LabVIEW as possible?
I would like to start a VI and isolate it from the rest of the windows environment if possible (obviously not things like max, etc. though).

You could try making your VI the shell application, but I'm not sure whether it will completely take over window, or just replace explorer (probably the latter).
You could also try some of Ben's suggestions here for improving performance.

Ok here is a good one for you all

So here is the problem.
We use PPTP VPN for our Exe's at my company and most of them are using airbooks or power books now.
They also use the ATT USB Mercury/ATT USB lighting cards for in emergency no network connection while traveling.
10.5 - all works great no issues ... ATT cards VPN no issues
10.6 - ATT cards work fine to get to the internet but as soon as you fire up the vpn connection and get connected to the vpn all traffic stops no internet and no intranet access. ( we send all traffic over the PPTP connections )
Both are connected and with out errors .. sometimes if you wait 30 minutes it all starts working , disconnect and re try nada.
I have upgraded firmware in the ATT cards , using the new 3Gwatcher application provided by sierra wireless and still nothing.
The PPTP works fine form home wireless , hotels , hot-spots seems to be related to the att cards form all the troubleshooting I am doing
Anyone have any thoughts - i did send a support ticket into sierra for some help to but I figured maybe you guys have seen this and no a fix or solution

Ralph... here's another one for you

I've had this problem where I can talk to Craig, Craig can talk to Joe but I can't talk to Joe.
I've now fixed it so I can ANSWER an invitation from Joe and chat fine.
However, if I call HIM, he sees the invite, tries to accept, then basically locks up,
having to restart iChat completely.
He's on a wireless router in his home, from a DSL connection.
I went to his Mac firewall and opened all the 5000 ports, etc. and the 1024 - etc. ports.
This seemed to make the difference in my being able to accept. I tried turning off his firewall completely and it's still no go.
I'm still stumped. I talk with everyone I contact, all over the place. What's the problem with this one person?

Hi Rick,
If the ports are open with Port Forwarding or Port Triggering it can be a NAT consistency problem.

The solution can be as simple as using UPnP if it is an option on the router or modems.

OK all you MAC Geniuses...here's one for ya!

Home environment. Cable Internet. Linksys wireless router. 2 laptop Computers (PC and MAC).
Up until 2 months ago, everything fine. My wife's MAC Powerbook started slowing down, but my PC was working fine. Did speed tests, they both are DL at close to 3mps...do everything known to man (thanks to people around here). I sell the Powerbook and buy a NEW MacBook Pro, and it is still slow.
The DL's are still around 2.7 to 2.9mps on both, but the MAC takes forever to go to most every web page...go to msn, google, whatever, it takes close to a minute, sometimes more, to load the page. Meanwhile, the PC is loading within seconds...BOTH worked fine a while back and DL is perfect...what could this possibly be?

Try seeing if the issue exists connecting directly to the modem.
If you migrated data from the PowerPC Mac to the Intel Mac, you could have transferred some non-native plugins or drivers using the migration assistant which would thus cause certain things that normally are fast to be slow because they are running in Rosetta rather than Universal code. Did you use the migration assistant to move from the PowerPC Mac to the Intel Mac?

Here's one for ya! Extreme and Express together...

I purchased an Extreme and Express today. (So far this is working much better than the D-Link and Linksys I tested.)
Ok, here's what I'd like to do.
Firstly, the DSL modem is connected to the Extreme.
1) I have a Mac Pro 2.66 which is connected to the Extreme via Ethernet cable.
2) The Express is in the living room.
3) An iMac 2.4 which is in the study, is quite a distance from the Extreme, which is why I purchased the Express... to Bridge.
Ok everything works when the Extreme is set to 2.4 GHz, but when I set the Extreme to 5 GHz, I have service on the Mac Pro, but the iMac does not get any service. I imagine this has something to do with the Express... maybe not.
Does anyone know why I can't get any service on the iMac when the Extreme is set to 5GHz?
Your help would be truly appreciated.

I would move the Express away from all that and if possible find an outlet where the Express will be by itself (a dedicated outlet just for the Express and nothing else around it.) Also make sure to plug the Express directly to the wall and not using a power extension (if you have a surge suppressor buy one of those in-wall or over the socket adapters, nothing with big long wires.)

If it's a static site, get yourself a copy of AutoRun CD.
You burn two files to your CD along with your site files. One
is the
autorun.exe file. The other is an inf text file where you
specify which file
on the CD should load first.
Probably index.html.

Just took my vintage 2009 Macbook pro that was having trouble running Lion back down to Snow Leopard. (formatted drive and reloaded SL) How do I get iPhoto, Garage Band, Imovie etc.... in other words the apps that came installed on my 2009 machine when I bought it. They aren't part of the SL install.
No need to be concerned about my user data/settings/other apps etc... I migrated them over to a new Macbook pro I just purchased using a Time Machine backup. (worked wonderfully) but as I'm sure you know moving anything from a Lion TM backup to a SL machine isn't possible. I've heard there are ways but it's complicated and well all I really want is my 2009 machine to be like it was new and I'll I need for that is what I believe is the iLife stuff (again iPhoto, Garageband, iMovie etc...)

Thanks for the quick reply wjosten! I didn't get any disks with my computer. I bought it new from the online apple store.. I still have the original box it came in, user guide etc...it came loaded with Leopard but no disks. I had the SL disk as I purchased it to upgrade ( I know I could have downloaded it for free but I wanted a disk for the exact reason as for how I just used it to reinstall SL in case I needed to someday). In fact, I just bought a 2012 MacBook Pro, picked it up at my local Apple store and it did not come with any disks, same as before, it came with power cord, user guide, cleaning cloth, but no disks. I can understand that apple saves money, time, resources and environmental material by not including disks, but they should make it easy to download these things when you are in trouble and not charge even a small fee. I paid for these apps and merely want to reinstall them on the same machine they orignally came with.

I currently use an AEBS / AE with an x-modem on BT internet, BT are rubbish so I'm switching to O2 and They have sent me the O2 wireless box, I want to use this as my modem and router and effectively have the AEBS acting as a wireless access point on the network, how do you use it as such, do you have to disable the dhcp thingy so it just looks like an ethernet client to the router and if I do, can I still use the gigabit ports on the AEBS to hang a NAS disc off etc. also, would I connect the AEBS to the O2 modem/router using the WAN or LAN port on the AEBS

You would connect the WAN port of the AEBS to one your O2 modem/router's LAN port. You would then need to run AirPort Utility and under the internet tab towards the bottom you would want the AEBS to run in bridged mode instead of sharing a public IP address. And yes, you would still be able to use the NAS disc off the AEBS.

Okay, so I've got a new credit card and I tried updating my information and every time it said that I my card information did not match my bank's records. But I checked my bank account and for whatever reason iTunes took out a dollar each time I tried to update my info. And it kept giving me the same thing: Your card information does not match your bank's records. However, the charges were made so either iTunes and Apple as a result are screwed up or...I don't know what.
Any help? Has this happened to anyone before? I would like a refund for this madness if possible, because that's just not cool.
Also, to my knowledge I do not have any outstanding charges.

So? It's saying you didn't implement mouseDragged, which you agreed to do when you said it implements MouseMotionListener. So implement it.
Rather than making your applet implement the mouse interfaces, you could create inner classes that do, and then make those inner classes subclass MouseAdapter and MouseMotionAdapter.
You'd end up with smaller, tighter code.
