Here Maps to Drive Issue

Hi there!
I have a problem with my HERE Maps working along with HERE Drive.  I know 100% that the toll road option is set to off in Drive, but when I search for an address in Maps and start the navigation the transition from Maps to Drive turns the Toll option back on.  Why does it do this even though I have Drive to omit Tolls? I thought it was a Maps app issue but there are no Toll options.  Is this normal thing?
Cheers.

Hi, Symb1an.
Welcome to the forum! We appreciate you reaching out to us.
What is the model of the phone? Have you tried checking if there's a new available update for your map data? How about deleting the map data and then redownloading it again? BTW, what connection are you using? Does it happen even if you're connected to the internet? How about using it in offline mode? We will wait for your feedback.
Thanks.

  • HERE maps and HERE drive for Universal app

    Hi All,
Is Here Launcher supported in Win RT apps?
Our requirement is to show the following in the map both in phone as well as in tablet
    1. user's location on the map with lat/long
    2. multiple locations on the map with (lat/long collection)
    3. directions on the map with (source lat/long, dest lat/long)
    4. live traffic updates
    5. show different types of pushpins on the map with (lat/long collection)
Right now I'm launching HERE maps and drive in phone using uri scheme, but it is not supporting point no. 2 and 5.
In Phone, is there any other way to launch HERE maps/drive other than uri scheme?
I'm not able to find HERE drive in windows store, is it not available yet?
In Phone, is it possible to go the HERE maps directly without hitting HERE splash screen? I know we are launching another application so we dont have control over splash screen, but is there any way to accomplish this?
    Regards, Sivaraman

    Hi Sivaraman,
    >>Is Here Launcher supported in Win RT apps?
    Based on the official
HERE Launchers API document, it looks like Here Launcher is not supported in Store app.
    >>In Phone, is there any other way to launch HERE maps/drive other than uri scheme?
As far as I know, HERE Launchers API and Uri Schemes are the only way.

The services provided by the HERE applications can be used in two ways:
1.By utilising the HERE Launchers API provided, or
2.by utilising the Uri Schemes implemented in HERE applications.

    >>I'm not able to find HERE drive in windows store, is it not available yet?
Yes, I can only see Here Maps in Windows Store now, so I think it is not available yet.
    >>In Phone, is it possible to go the HERE maps directly without hitting HERE splash screen?
I don't find any explanations to talk about this in the above API documents, so I think it's not possible yet using official way.

  • HERE maps will not start

    Hello,
    I have a Nokia Lumia 620 with firmware 1030.6407.1308.0001.
Yesterday, I wanted to check traffic status before leaving home. While HERE Maps was working on WiFi at home, I locked the screen, took the elevator to go downstairs (no connection in the elevator). I went out and unlocked screen (on EDGE network), Here Maps was frozen. I could not quit the application, so clicked widows button to go to main screen. Afterwards, even after a phone reboot, HERE Maps and Drive do not start. Both programs quit after showing splash screen, returning to home screen, where I start them. Same with HERE City lens and Transit. Even settings do not start. I can go to Settings->Applications->maps, but "download maps" or "check for updates" exit immediately back to "applications" level. "delete history" seems to delete but does not help.
I have downloaded and used Lumia Storage Check Beta to download maps to SD card when it was updated at the end of April. It worked fine till yesterday and I am not sure if the problem is related to that.
I have not tried removing SD card, uninstalling programs or resetting the phone. These options seemed too harsh.
    Hoping for your support,
    Özgür
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

It looks like the problem is with SD mini card or WP8 card management. I was using a 64 GB SD Card I bought for my Lumia 620. Info about the card is below.
    Writing speed: 5.39 MByte/s
    Reading speed: 11.1 MByte/s
    File system: exFAT
The card worked for around 2 weeks, Lumia 620 used a map file on it, saved photos, played music, etc.
Yesterday (after HERE Maps stopped working) when I removed the card from Lumia 620 and inserted to my computer, it first wanted to correct errors, then asked me to format it. After formatting, I once more formatted on Lumia and tried to download map. It crashed several times and I had to format it each time on my computer (and as precaution I formatted each time on the phone). I even once (not quick) formatted the card on my PC, but it did not help.
Now I am checking the card on my computer for errors with a speed test program (H2testw v1.4).
At the moment, I am using an older 8 GB SD mini card on my phone. I have just downloaded a map and I will add music, take pictures, etc. 64 GB card also worked for 2 weeks, so this card's working status for now, does not prove anything.
    8 GB SD mini info:
    Writing speed: 5.00 MByte/s
    Reading speed: 14.4 MByte/s
    File system:FAT32
Another difference between 2 cards is, 8 GB is FAT32 formatted, while 64 GB is exFAT.
    I will post updates.

  • Top Questions for HERE Maps & Drive & Transit

This thread is to share some of the common issues that are being raised in relation to the HERE Maps, HERE Drive and HERE Transit releases.
Currently split in to the following sections:
    HERE Maps for Windows Phone
    HERE Drive for Windows Phone
    HERE Transit for Windows Phone
Nokia Maps & Drive for Symbian
    HERE Maps for Windows Phone
Can I sync my Maps favourites from my Symbian phone to my Windows Phone?
Yes. Just sync the favourites on your Symbian phone with here.com. See the user guide of your Symbian phone for info on how to do this.
Your favourites in here.com are automatically synced with your Windows Phone, if you're signed in to your Nokia account with your phone.
    Does HERE Maps work offline?
Yes, on Windows Phone 8 devices HERE Maps can be used also in offline mode.
With Nokia Maps on the Windows Phone 7 devices you need an online connection. In these devices the map data is streamed on as needed basis and it is not cached.
Can I start Drive navigation from HERE Maps in my Nokia Lumia phone?
Yes, on Windows Phone 8 devices you can start drive navigation from HERE Maps.
On Windows Phone 7 devices you need to go to the Nokia Drive application to start the navigation.
Why can't HERE Maps find my location?
Check that you've allowed HERE Maps and your phone to find your location.
    In HERE Maps
Go to Settings in the HERE Maps app and turn on Use your location
    In your phone settings
In your phone's main menu, tap Settings > location > on.
Things that can affect your GPS signal may include: being indoors, tall buildings, poor weather and some car windscreens. You'll also get a better fix on your location if you've got a data connection.
    HERE Drive for Windows Phone
Can I use HERE Drive without a data connection?
Yes. To use HERE Drive offline, tap Settings and choose Connection. You can then toggle between offline and online.
Search results might be limited in offline mode. To be able to navigate offline, you need to download a map to your phone.
What is the difference between HERE Maps and HERE Drive?
HERE Drive is an application for voice-guided turn-by-turn driving navigation. HERE Maps is a map application which shows your current position and interesting places around you. You can also plan routes in HERE Maps but the app will launch HERE Drive for turn-by-turn navigation
What's the difference between HERE Drive and HERE Drive+?
HERE Drive offers turn-by-turn navigation in a single country or area, depending on the country of your SIM. Worldwide navigation is possible by purchasing an upgrade.
HERE Drive+ is a premium app that comes with worldwide turn-by-turn navigation from the start. You can use it with or without a SIM.
Users of HERE Drive can buy an upgrade to HERE Drive+ through the Windows Phone Store.
    HERE Transit for Windows Phone
How do I install the HERE Transit application in my Windows Phone?
Download and install HERE Transit from Microsoft Store. Start Store in your phone and search for HERE Transit or browse in Nokia collection.
In Windows Phone 7 devices the corresponding app is Nokia Transport and it can be installed from Marketplace.
Why can't HERE Transit find my route?
If you're having trouble getting a route:
Make sure the date, time and time zone on your phone are set properly.
Check that you've got a data connection.
A point in your route might be in a region where no transport info is available.
The route is too long. HERE Transit is designed for use with local city public transport, not national or international transport.
Can I save routes in HERE Transit?
You can pin a journey from your current location as a tile to your Windows Phone start screen.
Select the options icon at the bottom of the screen, and then the pin icon.
Nokia Maps & Drive for Symbian
How do I install Maps 3.09 in my phone?
Maps 3.09 is available for compatible devices as part of the Nokia Maps Suite 2.0 bundle. Installing Nokia Maps Suite 2.0 will install the following applications in your phone:
    Nokia Maps 3.09
    Drive
    Places widget
    Public Transport v2
    Weather (not available in China)
    Guides
Check in (only available in China)
    Map Loader
You can install Nokia Maps Suite on your phone through one of the channels below:
SW Update menu on your phone
Nokia Suite (select Software updates > Applications available)
Nokia Store (search for Nokia Maps Suite 2.0)
When installing via SW Update menu or from Nokia Store, it is recommended to use a Wi-Fi connection or a cellular connection with data plan because a large amount of data will be transferred during the installation. Note that the installation may take a while to complete.
After the installation you can launch the applications from the phone menu. You can add the application widgets also on the home screen (Map Apps, Places nearby).
Can Nokia Maps be used in offline mode to avoid data costs?
Maps can be used offline to avoid data charges, however the following will not be available in Offline Mode:
    View Satellite maps
    View Terrain maps
    Search the latest address/POI database
    Real-time Traffic and Safety updates
Share your status, photos and location to your Facebook profile (Maps 3.03 and later)
    Get Weather forecasts
See local event info from WCities (Maps 3.03 and later)
Access Lonely Planet city guides (Maps 3.03 and later)
Access the Michelin restaurant guide (Maps 3.03 and later)
Synchronize your locations with Nokia Maps on the internet
You can switch between Online and Offline mode by going to the Maps Settings and
    Select Internet or General
Select Connection or Go Online at Start-up
Please Note: Switching between Online and Offline mode in Maps will not prevent data charges through the user of Positioning settings such as AGPS and WiFi/Network positioning. These will need to be turned off in the Positioning Settings on your phone. Please see your phone manual for more information.
How do I know if there is an update available for the map data in Nokia Maps 3.x?
You can check if your device has the latest compatible Map data simply by connecting your device to a PC running Nokia Suite and selecting View > Go To > Maps.
If you are using Mac, download Map Loader for Mac and then check if there's an available update for Map data (applies only for Maps 3.04 and older, version 3.06 and later not supporting Map Loader for Mac).
With Maps 3.06 and later you can check the availability of map data updates and do the update over Wi-Fi (WLAN) connection by selecting:
Maps 3.06: Update > Check for updates.
Maps 3.08 and later: Map Loader > Check for updates.
How can I start Drive navigation in Maps 3.08 (and later)?
There is an icon for the Drive application available on your phone's home screen.
You can also start drive navigation from Maps:
    1. Search for the destination.
    2. Select the place on the map and its information area at the top of the screen.
    3. Select Navigate, and Drive here.

Sorry, I'd like to unresolve this. The workaround mentioned is not a solution.
I travel to loads of places by motorcycle, and going off the beaten track is wonderful. Since I upgraded My E6-00 and C7-00 to a Lumia 920, I'm back to allowing the SatNav (phone) to decide where I go. Boring dual carriageways and bypasses are now my natural habitat - bah humbug. Afterall, the phone is in my pocket (safe from weather), headphones in my helmet - I can't constantly look at a map. Having multiple 'favourites' and planning from one to the next isn't workable. Fair enough the Lumia 920 is usable with gloves on (major plus for a biker, come on you marketing people!) but I don't fancy re-routing all the time by the side of a road.
I'm also planning a charity cycle ride over 100s of miles this Summer, and while that can be done in BikeRouteToaster, Google Maps etc, there is no import function into 'HERE' that I can see. It's impossible to plan a route on the device itself. Yes it can route walker (I can't seem to get turn by turn working for that, but nevermind), public transport and car, I have an option to avoid motorways etc, but cycle route planning needs consideration for height metres, unpaved/paved roads (Google StreetView etc used a lot to find a Sustrans route is actually unfit for road bikes) etc. So.. Importing a route planned elsewhere (gpx, kml or something) would be a real alternative, or a workaround. Asking the device to do its own planning from one point to another really isn't workable.
Please make the Nokia's USP an actual USP again?

Has anyone else had trouble with HERE Drive+ for the last few days? It crashes on me (without providing an error message) if I don't interact with it for around 2 minutes or it crashes immediately if I attempt to navigate to a favourite.
The only theory is that I think it started since I upgraded HERE Maps and downloaded the new HERE Explore last week and began to play with Collections. This version of Drive+ predates the new version of Maps and collections. Anyone know when a new version of Drive+ is due out?
    I'm running version 3.0.4121.0 of Drive+ on a Lumia 925 with OS version 8.0.10328.78
So far I have tried the following but they made no difference:
    Uninstalling and reinstalling Drive+
Turning on and off the phone
    Soft restart of the phone
    Anyone got any ideas?
    Many thanks

I moved my favorites out of the collections in Here Maps and removed the empty collections, but I still have the problem.
When "connection" is turn off in the settings, that seems ok. To be confirmed

    Hi,
I have installed Here Drive + Beta and Here Maps on my Nokia 620, when I click on them to activate they just return to the app list. I have un-installed and re-installed several times over various days and it still does not load. Important to note, Here Transit and other navigation apps work but not Here Drive + Beta and Here Maps! It's very frustrating, can anyone suggest what's going on?
    Thank you

  • Features missing in translation in Here maps/drive

I just came home from a road trip from sweden to kroatia. Through the trip I used my lumia 920 for maps and navigations. I have done similar trips with my Nokia N8 (symbian belle) before.
Sadly the old N8 did a better job. Don't get me wrong, the lumia also did a good job but there where a few missing features that were really annoying.
    * Major miss: Here maps/drive cannot check alternative routes. This works on symbian, wehere you can add waypoints along the wanted route.
    * Major miss: When on location I want to check for restaurants only or perhaps hotells only etc. Impossible in the Here maps/drive. I could only use the "places" function, that is utterly useless. I am not interrested in shops when looking to a place to eat, neither am I interested in police or hospitals when I looking for a place to sleep.etc. I could of course use the "search" but then I need to now the name of the restaurant and when I am in a new town this is not possible.
In Symbian you could show all available locations in a specific category that were within the maps zoom range.
Example hotel category, bank category etc.
    * Minor miss: the setting for which kind of roads that Here Drive are allowed to use (toll roads, ferries, ...) is only avalible when selecting a place in Hera maps and the -> directions. This setting is not even available in Here Drive!! The app that actally needs it! You cannot reach this setting from the normal "settings" menu in either of Maps or Drive
Minor miss: Why two apps? Merge them
Minor miss: Option to always show specific categories on the map without needing to search for them.
Verrrry minor: Bring "Own voice" to windows phone. This is not usefull at all but extremly amusing. Especially when the kids have spoken all the messages.
Btw.. All mentioned missing features were available on the Nokia N8 but went missing when "upgrading" to a Lumia 920.

The missing features from Symbian has been feedbacked in over one and a half year, with no result at all.

  • Lumia 925 ATT Here Drive+ issue after Cyan

I've noticed that on my 925 Here Drive+ doesn't recognize addresses that it previously did. It can find the address just fine from Here Maps, and will give turn by turn directions when you start navigation from there, but not when you use the people hub to quickly navigate to an address from a contact. Pops up a dialog that says no address was found.
I've done a soft reset etc, did a full erase and update, not from a backup, everything from scratch.
I would appreciate any advice you might have, one if my most used features.

    Same problem here.
Had the Lumia 925 for nearly a year - without any problems ever.
Since the Cyan update the phone often freezes, which it never did before. The only way to bring it back to life is the Power+VolumeDown button combination.
On the first few freezing occasions the glance screen was showing and stuck, and it was charging via USB.
I have reset the phone (from Settings -> Phone), and turned the glance screen to "Peek", which appears to have reduced the occurrences of freezing, but it still happens.
From my observation freezing is more likely during charging, but that may have been a coincidence. It has also occurred while not charging.
3G, Data connection, and location were on in all cases of freezing, WiFi and NFC were off in all cases.
This is a _very_ serious bug that should get lots of attention immediately! The threads about it fill in several locations, at wpcentral, MSDN, etc. (it apparently affects several Lumia models).
Are there experiences with using the Nokia Software Recovery Tool? It will apparently reset the Lumia 925 to a pre Cyan state. If I then install the updates, including Cyan, again, will there be a chance of the freezing problem to be gone? Or should I refrain from installing the Cyan update again for the time being if I want the phone to be reliable?

  • Location is not available to mapped network drive in Windows 8 using Synology NAS

    Original Thread:
    http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows8_1-files/location-is-not-available-to-mapped-network-drive/ca7eac5c-0e3d-494b-b488-e245978e4db9
I have recently upgraded to Windows 8.1 standard edition. I have come across a problem when using the option for mapped network drives. Under Windows 7 I would normally map a network drive (Synology NAS) and I could access all files, copy and paste, install
apps, and link media, all from within the mapped network drive. However, under Windows 8.1 I have come across a couple of problems.
    1. When I try to copy a file from my "Mapped Network Drive" to the C:\Drive (OS Boot Drive), I get the following error,
"E:\ is unavailable. If the location is on this PC, make sure the device or drive is connected or the disc is inserted, and then try again. if the location is on a network, make sure you're connected to the network or internet, and then try again. If the
location still can't be found, it might have been moved or deleted."
However, if I copy a file from the "NETWORK/Network Location" the file copies just fine with no problems. And, If I also copy a file from a "Added Network Location" the file also copies just fine with no problems. And, if I copy a file from
my "Mapped Network Drive" to my D:\Drive (non OS Drive), the file copies just fine with no problems.
    2. When I try to install apps from my "Mapped Network Drive" they will sometimes install and sometimes not (I am also choosing the option to run the programs as Administrator). Again if I try to install using either the "NETWORK/Network Location"
or an "Added Network Location" the apps install just fine with no problems.
    3. When I link media (music or videos) from my "Mapped Network Drive" they will work but once I reboot they no longer work as if they have lost the file path or link of the original source location.
    4. When I use FireFox (browser) and I set my default download dir to my "Mapped Network Drive" it will work once originally set it but after I reboot, it no longer works. However, again if I set the default download dir to either the "NETWORK/Network
Location" or an "Added Network Location" the default download dir works fine even after reboot.
While I am able to access my network drive using any of the three options, "Mapped Network Drive", "NETWORK/Network Location", and "Added Network Location" but only "NETWORK/Network Location", and "Added Network
Location"appear to be reliable. Tbh I would prefer to be able to use my "Mapped Network Drive" in Windows 8 as I have been able to under Windows 7.
    More info:
I currently have UAC set to "Never Notify".
I also have Windows 8.1 installed on three different systems and all of them give me the same exact problems. One of the systems is a completely clean install with no 3rd party apps installed.
Just so its clear I am able to access the "Mapped Network Drive" but unfortunately this method of access appears to be unreliable in Windows 8 but in Windows 7 it works flawlessly.
If I map a network drive from another pc running windows 7 or 8, I can access and use the mapped drive with no problems. This problem appears to be related to the Synology NAS devices and I have researched the Synology forums but only found one thread about
    the problem, here:
    http://forum.synology.com/enu/viewtopic.php?f=49&t=76687
I have searched several forums and attempted to pick the brains of my local computer shops for any incite on this problem but I have been unable to find a solution/fix.
Any help resolving this is greatly appreciated.

    Hi,
Based on your description, we can temporarily disable the firewall to see whether the issue persists.
For this issue seems related to the Synology NAS devices, in order to get professional help regarding the product, we can contact the vendor support to see whether the issue
    can be fixed.

  • Trouble synching mapped network drive in Windows 8

    Hello
I have recently bought a Sony Vaio Pro13 with Windows 8. I have also just upgraded to Windows 8.1. I have another laptop running windows 7 to which I have mapped the network drive at my place of work. On the W7 computer, files are available offline and I can
synchronize them without any problem using the VPN.
I mapped the network drive to my new laptop running windows 8 but only about half of the offline files were made available offline and it was not possible to synchronize. I then started again, by deleting the mapped drive, deleting the offline files in the
CSC folder, moved the folder elsewhere and increased the space available for offline files. I then successfully mapped the drive and copies of all offline files were available on the laptop (after about 2 hours of synchronizing!).
However, I have not been able to synchronize the files since. The VPN works for other things (e.g. subscription websites which need a VPN connection) but the network drive is showing as either offline, or when I try to synchronize, the process begins and then
I get a 'failed' message (currently 'the username or password is incorrect'). This can't be the case, or I wouldn't be on the VPN or accessing emails via Outlook - and in any case, it worked once with exactly the same credentials. I double checked in the windows
credentials as well. The sync centre also says that the drive is 'offline (background sync)'.
My IT administrators do not have any suggestions apart from removing 8 and installing 7 because they do not currently support Windows 8...
Do you have any suggestions as to why the VPN works, the files have been made available offline, but the networked drive will now not sync?
    Thank you
    Liz

    Hi,
It appeared to be network issue, please try to update you NIC driver and then change power option of network adapter:
    Open Network and Sharing Center.
Click the Change adapter settings link in the upper left of the navigation pane.
Right click the network connection you want to enable/disable power management support on and click Properties .
    Click Configure .
On the Power Management tab, clear the Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power check box.
After these steps, turn off Firewall and please restart computer and check the issue again.
If it doesn’t work, please upload the screenshot of error message and event log here for further research.

  • Here maps hangs when finding directions

I am bringing my lumia 720 to the uk. Origin country is indonesia. Problem is that the Phone hangs whenever i try to find directions on here maps. Sometimes it Works when the destination is very close, like 5 mules away. But when my destination is 50 mules, the Phone hangs and i have to press the back button. This is very annoying. Anyine have an answer to this problem?

As far as I know, the 720 comes with Here Drive with a regional license instead of Here Drive+  with a global license. Since your 720 iriginated from Indonesia, it would have a navigation license for Indonesia only and this could be the cause of the issues you are experiencing.

  • Lumia 920 on Black Amber - HERE Maps stops working

    Hi,
After being trilled about updating and closing my applications using the X button on multi-tasking (finally!), I went into my Here Maps, or rather, I tried to open Here Maps, and it closed (probably an exception occurs and closes the app, just like when you develop WP apps).
So i've been searching the web.
    Solutions that i've seen
    1- Reset Phone (Done)
    2- Soft Reset (Done)
    3- Uninstall, Reinstall (Done)
4- Open while in Airplane/Removing SIM => still closes and crash
5- Uninstall Maps in Settings > Applications > Maps, I don't have Maps option (Even when I install/uninstall HERE Maps and/or HERE Drive+ and/or HERE Transit)
    6- No updates available
7- Updated to latest version (I'm on black amber).
So after all that, i've been for 2 hours not able to solve my issue, which is (to recap):
Can't open HERE Maps on Lumia 920 (Black Amber), instantly crashes. I can still use Transit for getting my subway + bus infos, but can't use HERE Drive+ and Maps.
If there's anything more you need, please ask.
    Thanks
