Here Maps: Why is the Satellite View resolution so...

Just got a Lumia 820. Here Maps Satellite View is dreadful. I can't identify anything - all I get is blurs in different colours. Have I got a setting wong?

I downloaded Google Maps on to my Nokia 820 earlier, & I found it to be similar to the built-in Nokia/Here Maps, in that the satellite resolution was good over large cities, but poor elsewhere. This is in contrast to the PC version of Google Maps, which appears to give consistently good quality over the whole country (England). Are there different versions of these programs for PC & mobile users?

You can do one of two things. The first is get it lined up on how you want it to look and then click the Share button, which will be to the right of the search bar in Yosemite, to email the image and it will be in a PDF format. You can also create a screenshot of Maps as well. Take a look at the articles below for more information.

Why is the Keyboard Viewer so small??

Does anyone know of a way to make the Keyboard Viewer larger?
I have looked in the Prefs > International pane fields, but see nothing that will allow me to enlarge this valuable feature. I must be going blind because its difficult to make out the keys. It seems to me that this used to be larger before I upgraded to Leopard, but I cannot be certain of this.

Then my mouse cursor - on its own, mind you - magically slid over the fruit-flavored window control jelly beans at the top left of the keyboard palette and they faintly lit up from their dull grayed out state. As I peered at them with squinted eyes, I thought I saw a very faint black character embedded in each ..
... green button, huh ...
As I was mulling this over, my mouse cursor just snapped over the green orb and clicked it.
VOILA! The keyboard sprung to life startling me in the process.
"I can see, I can see! I yelled."
My wife came rushing in, "Are you alright? Are you OK?"
Me: "Oh, I'm fine, honey ... er, I mean Honey. I just discovered that my Mac is Magical. That's all."

Why is the iTunes view all jacked up with this update?

I'm a big fan of the list... and now I can't view as list unless I click on Songs. But that's the crappiest way to sort, so it doesn't help me out at all. Anyone know of a solution to this new view?

Have you explored the sort options in the Song view?
While in the Song view select the View/View Options or Command-j. You can also still click on the header for the column you wish to sort by.

Why is the Design View appearing distorted?

I have been designing an event page template in HTML and CSS to be used by my co-worker who handles all of our events and doesn't know how to write in HTML.
When I enter the HTML into the Event Content (HTML) entry box, everything works fine. The page looks like it should when I preview it, but when I change to Design View the page becomes distorted and skewed. This makes it nearly impossible to make any changes that aren't made in HTML View because the cursor jumps all over the page when I attempt to enter information in Design View. If it were just me this would not be a problem because I could change the event info on the HTML side, but because my co-worker has never used HTML I would like to get the Design View to show the page properly.
Is there anyway to correct the appearance of the Design View, so it displays the page correctly? Thanks for your help!!!

The overlay shows the column layout as defined using the Columns setting in the Site Properties. This is simply to help in laying out the site content using grid systems like 960. You can read more about grid systems at http://960.gs/

MAC Voice Over: Why does the screen view lag behind the voice over audio?

When using voice over on a MAC with DE 1.8 - most times when paging thru a pdf file/book the voice and the view are inconsistent. When using VO - moving to the next page with the right arrow key - the audio starts to read the next page (correct), but the display is one page behind (not correct). For readers - especially those that have significant visual impairment - this will not work for them. Is this a defect - and if so - I would be very happy to re-test this feature if a new revision of DE 1.8 is provided.
I am unsure this is the correct forum to raise issues such as this one. I am in the process of evaluating Adobe DE 1.8 - my sister is blind and I am trying to move her to a MAC with VO. I really appreciate Adobe's effort in supporting JAWS and MAC VO - thank you on behalf of all disabled folks out there.
Below is a detailed list of steps to re-produce this audio/screen inconsistency issue.
- Install DE 1.8 and add to the dock
- Add a pdf file/book to DE 1.8. For my issue, I am adding the "Voice Over Getting Started" guide.
- Turn on Voice Over - Cmd+F5
- Using VO - Go to the dock and select DE and start it. The "Last Read Book" typically is the focus for the VO cursor. Then using VO next item (VO+right arrow) - move the VO cursor to "Library Content Table". This is the list of books that are displayed in DE.
- Using the up/down keyboard arrows - move up and down thru the books in the content list. At this point - you should already see that the VO audio announcing the title of a book is not synchronized with the row in the table that is displayed. The voice is announcing a book that you selected, but the display is showing the previous book.
- Once you hear (not see) the book you want to test with, hit <enter>. DE will open the book and start to read using VO. At this point the screen and audio for the first page in the book are the same.
- Once the book has been opened by DE - Using the right arrow key navigate to the next page in the pdf/book. Normally the right arrow key is the short cut to allow a user to move forward or backwards thru a book, one page at a time.
- With DE and VO - what happens is that VO responds to the right arrow key and starts to read the next page. But the screen is still showing the previous page. Hence the screen and the VO audio are out of sync.
- For anyone that uses MAC VO - this will prevent them from using Adobe DE 1.8.

Thanks for your information. We have tested several Mac machines, iMac and MBP (use the same version as yours). But we can't reproduce the issue. Actually working with VoiceOver is a fundamental request for our application, we did test them before releasing the build.
We suggest you test other applications, e.g. Finder, Preview and iTunes, to make sure if VoiceOver works fine with them. Or can you please check if your VoiceOver settings are correct?

Why did the preset web resolution change from 72ppi to 135ppi?

I just noticed this in the latest photoshop update. Is there a reason why this is? If this is to make designing for retina easier (not having to zoom as much in photoshop), why isn't it at 144?

I guess if you are a web designer, 72 is kind of a benchmark for Mac screen resolutions going back to the mid-1990s. 96 is the Windows standard of 640 x480 px.
It's kind of weird. Those two screen resolution standards are no longer common and I would think browsers today would adjust to fit the screen.
I wouldn't even worry about the number in the resolution field.

Can Anyone Explain Why Using the Hightest (Native) Resolution is Preferred?

I have an '06 iMac with a 20" screen, my top resolution is 1680 x 1050, but when I try using it, yes I can "fit more on the screen", but the type is tiny, tiny, tiny, (& I can't seem to figure out how to enlarge it outside of my browsers. How do people function with microscopically small type? I have been using 1280 x 800, but am now trying 1344 x 840...
The main issue I think occurs by using the lower resolution is that my message formatting, both via Mail & when posting stuff on line, ends up all skewed, sentences break off where they shouldn't etc., as if there is some default margin that is forcing all my copy to conform to, except when I'm writing it.

Modern monitors have a fixed amount of pixels, in your case, 1680x1050 pixels. If you start sending it a signal in 1280x800 pixels, the monitor itself has to scale it up to 1680x1050 pixels in order to fit it on the screen.
You can't cleanly divide 1680 by 1280, this means that the scaled up pixels won't all be the same size. Some pixels will be wider than others.
Most people (including me) find that using a non-native resolution just looks messy.
I do agree with you that the size of everything on the screen should not be coupled to the resolution you're using on that screen. This would solve a LOT of accessibility problems for people with less than perfect eyesight.
Backwards compatibility with a lot of application frameworks and other technical things I won't get in to makes doing this very difficult (it will work for some applications, but not all, especially not older applications).

Why doesnt the video view on ipod?

Ok I think i figured it out. It's a conversion issue. The iPod can't handle video above a 768kbps. When you have the conversion setting at 768kbps there is a possibility that some of the video will be converted above that (due to variable bit rate). Suggestion: Try the conversion again, this time use different settings (lower kbps like 640). I created my own profile: H264/320x240/1:1/640kbps Stereo/192kbps. And it works perfectly. Why does the browser view automatically zoom in to the first text box it sees on a web page?

I have an iPhone 5c w/ iOS 8. When I open a web page that has a text/chat box (form field?), the keyboard opens and the view zooms to it? It does not matter what browser I use. This did not happen with iOS 7.

It sounds like you're opening websites on browsers on your phone, and the screen keeps zooming in and bringing up the keyboard. I would start by troubleshooting the software on the device:
iOS: Force an app to close
Double-click the Home button.
Swipe left or right until you have located the app you wish to close.
Swipe the app up to close it.
When you have done that restart the device and test the issue again:
iOS: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting
If it persists, I would next backup your device to iTunes with this article:

And restore it from your backup with this article:
Use iTunes to restore your iOS device to factory settings

Why is the layout viewed on Google Chrome different from IE and Firefox?

I am using Windows 7 Pro, I have the latest updates for IE 9, Firefox and Chrome.
On the landing page (Home), Chrome shows one of my "boxes" that I created with MUSE (the box to the right that says "Check out other services we offer!) extended about two to three points further then the one to the right of it. However, Firefox and Chrome (along with MUSE when designing) show both boxes lined up at their bottom.
I have tried just about everything that I can think of to fix this issue. I have cleared the cache (history). I have made both boxes larger and smaller, I have moved the footer down and up. I have even given space to the triangle "bullets" and links on the box so that spacial formatting would not be an issue. Still the issue continues.

Maps App satellite view has switched to old images

When I got my iPhone 5 a couple of weeks ago, I was pleased to see the satellite view in Apple's Maps app comprised of recent images and even showed my house which was only built 18 months ago. BUT today, I went into the app and the image showing my house appeared for a split second and was then replaced with a view from many years ago which showed buildings which have long gone.
I live near Leeds, England and checking views of the city, I was amazed to see that the images are at least TWELVE years old!
Why is this? Very disappointed! :-(

Satellite view of OVI Maps

Hi Folks,
Can anyone give me some advice about the Satellite view (and even terrain view) of ovi maps. I've put version 3.03 (but the problem existed in the previous 3.01) on today - which currently looks nice and works better, but when I select satellite view (map displayed -> press Cogs -> press Satellite View) the map view is replaced block by block by a repeated patteren of green stripes.
Is this the expected behaviour, or should I be seeing a satellite image? I have left the phone (N97) displaying the map for about an hour hoping that perhaps the map would get updated, but so far only 16kb has been downloaded.
The map was loaded onto the phone by Nokia Map Loader.
The green stripes result is the same regardless of whether drive mode or walk mode is used.
Am I doing anything wrong?

This is very frustrating.
I've been using my maps OK Offline on my Nokia 5800 (I downloaded the maps via the internet).
I now want to view in satelite but I just get green diagonal stripes instaed of trees etc.

Satellite view not working in Maps

Just got my iPhone 6 plus yesterday, but satellite view does not work in Maps. Oddly, there are several Chinese characters on the bottom right corner of the map screen, and on the bottom of the menu, it says "Data from AutoNavi, others" whereas on my wife's phone (which is working fine), it reads "Data from TOMTOM, others". Tried power cycle, hard reset, but not sure what to do next. The region in Setting is set to United States, as I live in New Jersey. Would appreciate any help . . .

I do have data turned on, and other apps are working, including Safari. I did restore my new phone from a backup of my iPhone 5. Location services are on. In fact, I'm having the same problem with Find my iPhone, where the map won't show the satellite view.
