Here's a great iPhone web app!!!

So far this is the best web-app I have come across, I would love to hear what others think are good apps and post here so we can check them out through one thread, instead of having to search around. Here is my contribution, they did a real great job on it.

P.S. - I don't mean to mislead anyone with my comment, I am not the creator of this site! I simply came across it and want to share it with everyone!

Nice app, thanks for the info!
Here's a nice AIM messenger app for the phone if anyone is interested.

  • GUI iPhone web app builder like iWeb

Does anyone know if someone has built a GUI iPhone web app builder?
I am very interested in building an iPhone site in conjunction with the development of my new site http://www.thecutsquad.com , my main interest in this is so that there is an optimized site for the iphone without having to load all of the rich media which I will be hosting.
So if I could build an iPhone specific website like http://app.getleaflets.com/ where I can host content media optimized for iPhone viewing over EDGE and people who are browsing using the iSafari (is that what we are calling it these days?) are redirected automatically without having to type in a specific web address, although I do not mind having a sub-domain which hosts this.
So, anyone know of anything, or is anyone interested in helping with the development of such an application?
Also, what would I need, if no application exist like this, to start coding web 2.0 and Ajax? I am new to all of this web development stuff, but I learn extremely quick when I am pointed in the right direction.
    Thanks a ton,
    Gabe

a web building application that is similar to iWeb, except that it builds web 2.0 pages.
I'm not sure that phrase has much concrete meaning. For the iPhone you often essentially try create the "javascript in a web page" equivalent of a desktop app. You get the javascript from libraries or compose it yourself with a text editor, and integrate it into the html created by any web editor.
Here is an example I happen to be familiar with, a virtual keyboard for other languages, where you can examine the source (to get everything, download as a webarchive and folderize it).

  • Iphone web app

i am thinking of developing a web app for the iphone. if i do not plan on charging for it do i have to go through the approval process? can people start using it immediately. i do realize that it would not be on itunes but that is okay with me.
    thanks,
    hb

    Hi,
No need to do approval process for iphone web apps. But if u want to advertise ur apps on iPhone users through Apple Store then u have to register with Apple Developer Center.

  • IPhone Web App Directory

Does anyone know if there is a version of the Apple iPhone web app directory formatted for the iPhone? Every time I go to load the page it displays full.

Why not use your desktop or laptop computer to create collection of bookmarks for the iPhone.
In Safari the top left collection on my bookmarks bar is called iPhone. Those bookmarks synch automatically with the iPhone.

  • TS3376 power % bug in the Find my iPhone web app?

Hi iCloud users, I think I have spotted a bug in the Find my iPhone web app.
When you have multiple devices and locate them on the map, the pop up window that shows the device battery remaining, it has a problem it will show the 1st device power for all when you hover over it. I think the displayed icon is correctly changing but for instance what ever device I show 1st shows the same percentage for subsequent devices iPad and all. If you sign out and back into iCloud wep page it then will show the 1st % again even if you start from a different device.
    Cheers,
    Simon.

Make sure that you set up your iCloud account on both devices and that Find My iPhone is turned On.  You can also verify if your two iPads' location by signing in to www.icloud.com then Find My iPhone.

  • ImageMailer iPhone web app: What gives?

Someone recently posted a question regarding the ImageMailer web app for the iPhone; however, the thread seems to have been removed quite quickly.
What gives here? As far as I can tell, it is a legit web app, which is advertised on the Apple website:
    http://www.apple.com/webapps/utilities/imagemailer.html
    ??

Apologies for the loss of service. imageMailer was down for a total of about 18 hours this week due to a general server failure. This has now been resolved and imageMailer is therefore back online - hopefully this time for good!
    http://www.rainsforth.co.uk/iphone/imagemailer/
During the downtime we've improved support for URLs containing ?, = and & characters and added support for URLs referencing JPG, GIF and PNG files directly.
We've also added a new Google filter, which gives the user the option to send original hi-res images rather than low-res thumbnails when extracting from Google image search results.
A demo can be found here: http://www.rainsforth.co.uk/iphone/imagemailer/?url=http://images.google.com/ima ges?client=safari&hl=en&q=appleiphone&btnG=SearchImages&gbv=2
Any feedback and comments are welcome.

  • IPod/iPhone Web App

I just released a rough beta of my Kuler Web App for the
iPhone/iPod Touch. You can read more about it here:
    http://blog.pixelfumes.com/?p=230

You'd need mirroring for that which is currently only supported on the iPad 2 and the iPhone 4s.

  • Creating An iPhone Web App

I am creating a web app for the iPhone. The program I am trying to build, is an Inventory web app. I am trying to make the web app add, remove, and movie certain items to different rooms within this app. I know the task I am taking on is big, but I plan to learn. I new to programming. Can anyone help me threw the process.
p.s.- I started up Dashcode, and starting using the browser template, and I managed to play around with that, But I need help.
    Any help would be appreciated.

I too would like to know this. As sometimes you can't go online, being able to create web apps that can be used offline, simple ones, like games maybe, that could be stored "locally" on the iPhone, or more appropriately the iPod Touch (Since it has no 3G and Wifi isn't everywhere) so you could use them when in an area without internet access.

  • Performs great as web app but dismally as an AIR app

I am developing an app to deploy to Adobe AIR desktop. I am using HTML 5, CSS, jQuery 1.8.3 and jQuery Mobile 1.2.0. The app works great as a web app in all environments I have tested it: Windows, Mac, Linux (Ubuntu) and Linux (CentOS). As an air App it works great in Mac OS but is extremely (sluggish) in Windows. Does anybody know why this is so? I can provide video demos or the .air file in case anyone want to take a look. Let me know.

  • IPhone Web App - Mail link breaks stackLayouts

    Hi,
I'm having a problem with an iPhone Web Application that I'm building that uses stackLayouts to navigate around. On the contact page I have a mailto link that opens up the iPhone/iPod Mail.app when clicked.
When a user clicks on this link, Mail.app pops up with the email address pre-populated, completely as expected.
Now that Mail.app is open, I can either cancel or send a message, but when I return to the Web App, all the stackLayouts seem to be broken, the only links on that page that seem to still work are the ones that open up the Maps application. Refreshing the page doesn't work, it needs a complete reload before it will work again.
Additionally, it seems that buttons with event handlers set through the Dashcode property inspector break completely (as in, they don't receive click events after Mail.app is closed). Buttons with a custom event handler still fire their click event.
I'm wondering if anyone has had similar issues, and maybe found a solution for it.
If anyone is interested to look at this, I can put a zip of the test case project online somewhere. The test project is a Dashcode project file, I can also put the exported version (including zip) online of course.
    Thanks,
    John

OK, I've got a copy of my test case online, it's over at http://geekyjohn.com/lab/iphone/
If you click through to the "stacklayout_issue" folder, there is a zip file containing the Dashcode project and another folder containing the exported code. If you view this on an iPhone/iPod/Simulator you will be able to run the test case. (Just head to geekyjohn.com/lab/iphone/ with MobileSafari and click through to the "stacklayout_issue" and "mailtobreaks_stacklayoutcase" folders respectively)
KT: I've tested this in MobileSafari on iPod, iPhone and on a Simulator with iPhone OS 3, same results on all 3
I was doing some more testing and noticed that if I went back to the Home screen and then back in to Safari the app would work correctly. This seems to support my suspicion in this being a focus bug in MobileSafari.

  • IPhone Web Apps

How old do you need to be to post web apps to Apple web apps library. (APPLE DEVELOPER CONNECTION)

I wish I had an illegally unlocked iPhone; I am using the one I bought in the states (where I live half the year) and using ATT's international plan, which no one in their right mind would use except in case of an emergency. I literally got a $2000 data charge my first month. Even in US dollars that's a lot. The $20 a month in the States, from what I recall doesn't allow for much data. I recall a $600 bill there. Personally, I don't even want to pay $20 a month ($240 a year) to access my do list.

  • How to use iweb rss feed in an iphone web app?

So this is my dilemma.  I wanted my iweb turned into a web app using the rss feed.
This is simply done cause of the "Add To Homescreen" feature.
While the RSS feed works beautifully on safari... it does not read as a webapp.
This surprised me cause I thought it would still be safari that would be loading my web app.
I tried everything to get my RSS feed to work in a web app but i failed miserably.
Is there a fix for this?

Adding to the homescreen doesn't make it a webapp.
It creates a shortcut to the webpage, just as dragging a url to the desktop creates a .webloc file.
    You want an iWeb "webapp"?
Add this page to the homescreen and then click that icon :
    http://www.wyodor.net/_Demo/Fancy/Dynamic_Text.html
Then click the links in the dynamic textboxes.
I leave it to you to figure out how it's done. Hint : read the documentation.
To summarize : you want a fix for a problem that does not exist.

  • Website and iphone web app

launching iphone app and app website the site address is www.gcminteractive.com, feel free to have a look and let me know what you think you can also dowload the app for free.

    Hello there, gmd031256.
The following Knowledge Base article provides some good recommendations for your issue:
    iCloud: Troubleshooting iCloud Keychain
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4644
    Particularly:
Safari isn't automatically filling in account names and passwords on some web sites.
Devices using iOS 7.0.3 or later:
Go to Settings> Safari > Passwords & AutoFill and make sure that these two settings are turned on:
    Names and Passwords
    Always Allow
Return to your Home screen and open Safari. If Safari is black or dark instead of white or gray, Private Browsing is turned on. Safari doesn't save account names and passwords when Private Browsing is turned on. To turn off Private Browsing:
On iPad, tap the the plus + symbol in the upper-right corner of the Safari page, then tap Private in the lower-left corner.
On iPhone and iPod touch, tap in the lower-right corner of the Safari page, then tap Private in the lower-left corner.
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,
    Pedro.

  • IPhone Web App - Push vs Pull

I am new to the iPhone development scene and I am looking into developing a web based game that will communicate with other phones via a web service. One thing that I need to tackle is how a message from the service will reach the iPhone in the most battery efficient way. Obviously, it is not ideal to leave the antenna on constantly, so what is the best way to go about pushing a message to the phone while its antenna is off?

There was PUSH delivery implemented in SDK 2.1 beta that would send messages to applications that weren't open (as there are no running background applications). That feature was removed until further notice.
When dealing with a webservice protocols such as SOAP, there is no idea of push, like rtwomey said. You have to make a request to the service to get a response.
If you want to have your "service" send messages to a device, the device would have to listen for incoming packets on a stream using TCP/IP or UDP. But that would not be the traditional notion of a "web service".
