An Appeal to Apple about the new iWork release

I start with a quote from Jason D. O'Grady at ZDNet written in the beginning of this year:
"Apple is missing a prime opportunity here and basically ceding the market to Microsoft. Its users have a natural aversion to Microsoft products -- at least on the OS level -- and it's baffling that Apple isn't capitalizing on it with regular updates to iWork. Why did Apple released this new iWork-version to us serious users? I love my iWork '09 and its truly intelligent and useful interface which has speeded up my workflow tremendously compared with using MS Office.
All users of a program expect that the next version will at least be as good and useful as the previous one, that features have been improved, useful stuff added, improvements leading to an even better and efficient workflow have been added etc. etc.
iWork could have been an important piece in increasing the market share on Macs worldwide and a fantastic alternative to MS Office that most of us are so tired of because of its lack of intuitiveness, poor-working word-formatting and layout-functions etc. etc.
I have been using iWork professionally for years now. The new version is not an alternative for me. It would ruin my iWork-work for years including my business as a technical writer.
I appeal to Apple:
Call the new iWork version for ’iWork Lite’ or ’iWork for beginners’.
Announce an iWork Pro-version as soon as possible and give an estimation of release date.
Let iWork ’09 be the minimum baseline for the version.
Assure a good backwards compatibility.
Do not change the basic interface compared with iWork ’09 with for example its customizable toolbar and floating inspector.
Give it a competitive price (compared with MS Office).
Give it great cloud functionality (greater and better than MS Office)
We all need better programs that Microsoft offers us.
You guys at Apple have been on track to make it. I appeal: Switch over to this track again! Today!

I agree. Having the movable Inspectors was one of the best features of iWork. The way it was implemented with the descending order of tabs should have been widely adopted. Not trashed.
I keep my Inspectors and other palettes on a second monitor to allow a full view of my work on the first.
Having an independent Inspector, one not tied to context, allows the User to look for information and options without losing what you are doing at the moment.
Contextual linking suffers from a major problem. You must know the exact selection/combination of actions to make the controls appear. In other words you must know the correctly worded question to get the answer.
Don't get the wording of the question exactly the way the programmers want it and you will never find the answer.
There are examples of that in Pages 4.3, other Apple software and many areas of OSX in recent times.
It is very bad User Interface Design to conceal the access to solutions.
Effectively you turn the software into an Easter Egg hunt. Something that seems to amuse the personalities who program, but not those who are using software to an end and not just playing games.

I want to buy something on the app store but they asked me to do some security questions. But i forgot the answers. So, i went to "Manage Apple ID" and clicked the send e-mail button. But i did not recieve it. I checked the spam and trash but did not see anything regarding the security questions. What do i do ?

How to reset your Apple ID security questions.
Go to appleid.apple.com, click on the blue button that says 'Manage Your Apple ID'.
Log in with your Apple ID and password. (If you have forgotten your Apple ID password, go to iforgot.apple.com first to reset your password with a password recovery email)
Go to the Password & Security section on the left side, and click on the link underneath the security questions that says 'Forgot your answers? Send reset security info email to [email]'. This will generate an automated e-mail that will allow you to reset your security questions.
If that doesn't work, or if there is no rescue email link available, then click on 'Temporary Support PIN' that is in the bottom left side, and generate a 4-digit PIN for the Apple Account Security Advisor you will be contacting later.
Next, go to https://getsupport.apple.com
(If you see a message that says 'There are no products registered to this Apple ID, simply click on 'See all products and services')
Choose 'More Products & Services', then 'Apple ID'.
A new page will open.
Choose 'Other Apple ID Topics', then 'Forgotten Apple ID Security Questions'.
Click the blue 'Continue' button.
Select the contact option that suits your needs best.

Official comment from Apple about the drop frame issue?

Is Apple going to firmware fix the skipping drop frame issue on the Apple tv?
Or is it hardware related?
Too many of us seem to have experienced this issue for it not to be addressed.
It shouldn't be difficult to fix.

I should have kept it.

Hopefully it can be fixed. Seeing as Apple has not even acknowledged it I returned mine yesterday since I was coming up on my 30 day return deadline. At least this way I'm not stuck with a device that has a hardware issue.
As of yesterday I have seen this issue on 10 different New Apple TV units, all on different HD sets, different network setups etc. Half of the owners had never noticed it. Two of those were adamant they did not have the problem and one of those still insisted they didn't after I spotted it multiple times. So while the issue has been present on 100% of the units I have seen, its not necessarily noticeable to everyone. I have noticed its much easier to spot on larger displays and when the display quality itself is higher, for example easier to spot on a higher quality 61" 1080p set than a lower quality 720p 26".
If you have the option I would return the unit. Worse case is your don't have the unit, which is not functioning 1005 anyway, for a short period and then grab it again if the issues get addressed.

How does one learn about the new features or pending features

I'll be honest I have know about Acrobat,com for some time but have recently found a few business opportunities. Throughout the fourms I see notations about future releases. Some great opportunities if some of the features were a bit more enriched.
Is there a means of finding out what features are planned and possible target releases ? I am curious from both the Acrobat.com sharing perspective as well as the CS Review functions.

I know about the lack of boxes, but are there any more specific answers from Apple about what's going on for the ipod nano replacements?

I've been watching the forums for a while now, and I know about the box shortage, but I'm afraid there are still some things that confuse me. It's been almost three weeks since I submitted a request for the first gen nano replacement program. Has anyone else been waiting this long? I admit, it's really frustrating to just have to wait with no word from Apple about when we can expect to recieve boxes.
I was also wondering if there's been any sort of answer on what the mailed-in nanos are being replaced with. Brand new first gen nanos, new nanos of a different generation, refurbished nanos (first gen or otherwise)? Maybe I've been looking in the wrong places, but I haven't seen a definitive answer. Has anyone completed the whole replacement program who can answer this?

It's a problem that Apple is having with their App updating system. The best solution is to be patient, and wait for Apple to solve their systemic problem.

If you would like help from here, you'll have to say what the problem is. "Unable to use" and "not getting proper guidelines... regarding the query" tells nothing about your problem other than your phone isn't working.
Also, judging by your other post where you are looking for an alternative to the iPhone, do you want a non-Apple phone or do you want your problem fixed. No sense having people waste their time helping you fix this one if are going to get another phone.

You need to ask Apple to reset your security questions; ways of contacting them include phoning AppleCare and asking for the Account Security team, clicking here and picking a method for your country, and filling out and submitting this form.
They wouldn't be security questions if they could be bypassed without Apple verifying your identity.

I won't receive an e-mail from Apple about changing my security questions

Okay, so I wanted to buy something on iTunes, but then this thing came up, saying since it was my first time buying something on this device, I had to answer my security questions. The thing is, I don't remember them! I made them over 2 years ago, and never had to use them until now. So I signed in onto my account, and pressed "Forgot your answers? Send reset security info email to r•••••@yahoo.com" I'm not sure if the r*****@yahoo.com appears for everyone, or if it's "my" e-mail account, but just showing the first letter. Thing is, I don't remember making en e-amil account starting with r. My Apple ID is my e-mail account. The one I had when I got my first Apple device. I've always used it for Apple stuff, so why won't I receive an e-mail from Apple about this? I received one when I put my phone number in my payment options just yesterday, and when I changed my password as well, so I don't get why I don't get the imformation about changing my security questions. You need to contact Apple to get the questions reset. Click here, phone them, and ask for the Account Security team, or fill out and submit this form.

Why can't we get a straight answer from Apple about updater issues?

Why are there thousands and thousands of posts from people all having the same issue? We try to update IPod software using latest updater, and it causes IPod to no longer be recognized. All we want is someone from Apple to FIX THE PROBLEM! Yet all we get are refferals to complicated articles that never seem to work for at least half the people. Clearly it is a problem with these updaters. WHY IS APPLE NOT FIXING THIS ISSUE? Can anyone give me a straight answer!?

There are roughly 10,300 thread with 50,000 posts in the iPod Nano forum, and there are probably another 500,000 who don't even know it exists. I don't there there has been a thousand posts on the updater issue. It may seem like thousands upon thousands, but don't forget; you're at an Apple Support Forum.

There's no need to "shout". I don't think Apple is going to hear you from shouting in a user to user forum. Nor will you probably get a answer (here) from Apple for the same reason. I have a -------- (straight) answer for you. I don't know what's going on specifically (no one really knows in this forum because they are all users. Anyone who would know won't say), but I can assure you that Apple isn't ignoring the issue. They are the quickest to respond to any problem that comes their way. If you would like to get Apple's attention, I don't suggest ranting and raving in the iPod user to user forum. I suggest submitting polite feedback to Apple here.
