Here's a stumper for that Mac Guru out there

I have a VoIP system through Sunrocket. It's a prett good service. The main problem is, when I try to view my voicemail online, it says it's there, but it's not. It doesn't matter what browser I use, I've tried a lot of them including IE 5. I also have a Mac Help Login where there is nothing installed so it's a clean login to do troubleshooting. The same thing happens there.
I have a Mac Mini (Intel) and it works fine there.
The only requirement is Java and cookies enable. My computer is completely up-to-date and I can't seem to figure this one out. Here is the image of what I'm talking about:
http://www.sunrocketforum.com/files/picture_351.jpg
Again this only happens on my G5, any ideas?

I appreciate your help. My pea-brain isn't capable of figuring it out either, that's why I'm here.
As for taking the Mini offline, I actually had this problem before I even bought the Mini, so it's not really an issue. It can also happen if the Mini is completely turned off.
Sunrocket doesn't have a clue. It was suggested I sign up for service at uReach.com (not suggested from Sunrocket) because they have the same program structure. The person told me I would probably have the same problem but their tech support should be better equipped to handle this. I tried the uMessage service they offer and it did duplicate the exact same problem as the Sunrocket's service. I called their tech support and they were clueless too.
I'm baffled at this one and am not sure if there is something in the processor chip that's a problem or if there is something that needs "unlocked" on my mac? Anway, thanks again for the help.

  • Here is a tough one for Windows/Mac gurus out there

Have two active directory users that are on two Macintosh computers.
user #1 is on Windows Exchange 2003 MailServer1 and user #2 is on Windows Exchange MailServer2
Both MailServers have the Microsoft Exchange IMAP4 service turned on.
User #1 has no problem connecting to mailserver1 with any Macintosh Mail client
User #2 continually receives login failure errors...Event ID 1051 IMAP4SVC in event viewer with using EXCHANGE or IMAP option.
If User#2 configures their mail client with user# 1nformation, she is successful connecting to mail
If user#1 configures their mail cleint with user#2 settings, she is not successful.
The problem is mailserver2 something is not configured as it is on mailserver1
Any administrators that have had this problem, looking for a checklist to resolve issue...
    thanks

    Resolved the problem!
What the problem is in Active Directory if the user ID is not the same as the Exchange Alias then the problem occurs...
    For example:
In Account tab in Active directory user ID is kf304
but in Exchange General tab you have kfrank in the alias field.
You will not be able to connect to Exchange server with IMAP service (this is for any computer regardless of OS using the IMAP4 service)
Once you change the alias to match the user ID in this case change kfrank to kf304, you are able to connect to the Exchange mail server!

  • Scratch removal: Does Ps CS6 have a tool for that?  Or are there plugins?

Scanning old slides often shows large scratches and specks.  How can they be removed?
I use Photoshop CS6, does it contain tools for that?
    Or are there plugins?
What I'm looking for is a Scratch Removal tool like I find in Silverfast 8SE (have one bundled with my Canoscan 9000F scanner) called SDR (I don't mean the iSDR which used the sanner's ínfrared).
It automaticllay searches out scratches, marks them in red, lets you adjust how strongly it hunts for them, sizes etc.
Then when you like it, click to remove them.
    Very useful!
Two problems: it only works in conjunction with scanning, can't open an existing file.
And it only handles 8bit color depth.
I suppose full versions of Silverfast won't have these limitations, but that would mean quite an expense.
Since I have invested in Ps CS6 I'd want to keep to that.
Maybe I'm overlooking what's already in Ps?  Or in available plugins?
    Please help,
    Sverker

If you have huge numbers of them, Filter - Noise - Dust & Scratches right in Photoshop.  If they're always lighter than the surroundings (e.g., a negative scan that's been inverted), you can limit the effect with Edit - Fade - Darken afterward.
Or if you're willing to do some hand work, and ensure inadvertent things won't be changed, you can select  the Spot Healing Brush Tool, set it to Content Aware mode and just dab the spots.  Photoshop is pretty good at making up fill data.

  • Is there a parental control app that is good out there?

Is there a parental control app that is good out there?

Mobicip and K9 are really good options. I like Mobicip especially because K9 doesn't offer the "Open in" dialog for files. If you're on an iPad, Olly is another really good option, though again it won't let you open files.
Remember to delete all google apps, they are full of loopholes.

  • I need a wireless option for older Mac desktop is there a good card or adapter  I want to transfer hd video files over the internet.  using a hotspot and wireless card in computer, any recommendations

Is there a good card I can put in the computer, and use with a hotspot?  Any experience with uploading HD video files this way.  DSL hard wired connection is too slow

As for the people on eBay, my only beef with them is that it has turned into a money hungry store instead of an auction place to pick things up inexpensively, like it used to be.
    Agreed.
There is one, in particular, who really puts a dear price on his flashed cards.
Not a friend to the Mac community.
Of course, others see his prices, and say "Well, if he can, then so can I".....
By the way, I have been noticing the same cards, only for PC for around $30-$40, which lead me to believe that those are the ones they are "flashing". Sorry if that's incorrect.
    It's OK.
I watch for the prime cards all the time.
Radeon 9800 Pro and XT PC cards have increased to the $50-$70 range.
Pros used to be $20-$30, XTs $30-$60.
Some guys here in Japan are trying to get $100 for Radeon 9800 Pro cards- vanilla PC versions.
The glut in Mac options has inflated the flashable PC card market dramatically.....
The Mac Edition Pro retailed for $200+.
$100 isn't bad for that card flashed to Mac... the XT gets $20-$50 more.
Try telling a PC guy that a Radeon 9800 is a $100 card..... the old boys laugh!
Adding to this is the recent influx of "new" Mac users, PC modders/users buying cheap, used G4's, and the demand for upgrades has increased as supply decreased.
If you see any rev 5.70 Geforce 7800 GS AGP cards, or any FireGl (Radeon) X800XT (unflashed) cards for less than $130, amazing is all that I have to say.
$30-$40, and I'll take 20 of each- cash!
Hmm, same goes for Geforce 6800 Ultra's......
I am just a little (or a lot) frustrated with Apple and Apple vendors lately. For obvious and not so obvious reasons. Please accept my apologies as I go through this phase.
We all have our days, and our reasons. At least, I know I do......
    Apology warmly accepted!
Count me as frustrated, as well.
The new machines sure look nice, but when I tally up the price of the software that I own, which can't be run on Intel or 10.6x Macs, my room full of G4's look a lot nicer.

  • Firefox will NOT sync since adding password integration add-on for my macs. Is there a plan to resolve this conflict? Once I uncheck password sync works.

I continue to obtain a sync error with unknown error. After spend a few hours online and troubleshooting, I determined by un-checking password sync, no errors were received. I added the add-on for Mac password integration and can only conclude that adding this feature has conflicted with my sync. Does anyone know of any issues or are there fixes already in place I am unaware. I am at that point to return to Safari for my macs due to this and other issues I have been having with Firefox. Thanks.

    Hi KevMB,
Thank you for your question. I would recommend you try the new Firefox Sync, however currently it is available in beta starting Thursday.
If the device is already authenticated and is syncs automatically, then the password does not have to be added every time. I do not understand how the Mac password integration works as you describe it to.
If you are talking about choosing to sync stored passwords across devices please select any duplicates that may be stored in the profile under the preferences.

  • Question for the G5 Users Out There

    Hello All,
This is rather a simple question. I am pondering the possibility of setting up a G5 system for simple editing. Nothing huge and taxing. I promise this is not a question about how to work with Raw 4k files or uncompressed HD files. I'm just the easy stuff, so as I could keep the stronger systems for the bigger work.
I have only had a short time of experience doing edits on a G5. The studio I work at had a G5 dual 2.5ghz and was running the Production Suite, FCP 4.5. The very short amount of time I used it, I was learning FCP, and did very simple DV edits. So I never gave it a good work out. We promptly uprgraded to Studio 1 and a Xeon Machine. So like I said, my experience is limited in the G5 world.
Here is my question. I know that many of you are still using G5's as very active parts of your work. So I am asking what your setups are and what versions of Final Cut are you running? What limitations do you experience, or for that matter, what limitations do you not experience that Apple or others say you should?
I am very much a fan of using what you need and I know that the G5 systems are still very capable of doing a great deal of work and doing it well. So, if anyone feels like chiming in, I would appreciate it. Thanks for your time.

I still use my Dual 2.0Ghz G5...and for the semi-big stuff...DVCPRO HD. I have a MacPro 3.0 Octo with a Kona 3 at my office...running FCP 6.0.4. And then at home I have the G5 ALSO running FCP 6.0.4, and sporting a Kona LH. I do uncompressed SD work, DVCPRO HD work, Pro Res editing (footage captured on the MacPro). Still a very good viable system. The biggest difference is render times and encoding with compressor. That is where I REALLY feel it. But day to day editing...no issues. And I swap projects back and forth all the time. Both machines running leopard too.

  • Angle measurement software for OS X- anything out there?

    Hi all,
I'm looking for software that will do what the below-linked software will do:
    http://www.ttbikefit.com/SM.html
I need onscreen angle measurement mostly, for fitting bikes. Multi-point analysis and measurement would be REALLY nice, but not absolutely necessary. The Sports Motion software listed above is perfect for what I have to do, but there's no OS X version. Anything out there?
    John

I want to do the same thing. The only free thing I found that is fairly limited but will at least allow you to open a JPEG and draw some angles on it is this:

  • I made a big mistake. I downloaded a Windows version of Adobe Acrobat for my Mac. Is there any way to get that changed?

I made a big mistake. I paid almost $500 for Adobe Acrobat and realized the whole time I was paying for a Windows version of the software. Is there any way I can change the software without having to buy a new license for the program?

  • Is there a Mac / Flash guru out there?

    Hi all,
I've searched and posted at Mozilla forums, I've searched and
posted at Mac forums, but this problem I have seems to be unique
and it just doesn't go away. Flash player isn't working on my
MacBook Pro with OS X 10.4.8. I really want to understand this
problem and fix it, rather than having to totally reinstall my
entire system and not ever know what happened. I really hope and
pray there's someone here who knows how to fix this, because I've
ran out of ideas, and I'm
    not a n00b!
Please check these threads I started:
    Apple >
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=769826&tstart=0
    Mozilla >
    http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?p=2658557#2658557
    btw: it's
not a Firefox specific problem, it also happens in Safari
and others browsers I use; the standalone player is working just
fine, but the browsers are just not picking it up and even tell me
the Flash player is an unknown plugin!
Oh smart people of the world ... enlighten me!

This is the same problem I'm having. Flash worked fine on
websites until I downloaded the Flash 8 Trial, which I'm guessing
upgraded Flash Player to the latest version, which is not
compatible with MacBook. There is no way to get the Flash Player
version that came installed on the computer unless you find someone
with a MacBook and can drag and drop their files onto your
computer. I know that worked for a few people but I haven't tried
    it yet.
I've also tried downloading some older versions of Flash
Player, and that doesn't work either.

  • When i try to open itunes i get insert a disk into removable disk f and when i look for that on my computer there is no disk f

when i try to open itunes i get the message insert a disk into removable disk f and when i look for disk f there is no f on my computer. I thought i might make a disk f that letter is not available in my device manager section. So i try and uninstall/install itunes it was error message wd is invailid character. I am in a pickle here.

To solve this issue all I did was check to ensure that the file permissions were set as described by the earlier posts, followed by simply deleting the iTunes Library Genius.itdb file.  Once the file was deleted I was able to open iTunes without difficulty.  Note that I am running Windows 8.  Hope this helps!

  • When I upgrade from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion my Quicken 2006 for Mac stopped working, short of paying the $59 for Quicken Mac Essentials is there anything else I can do to read my old files?

    help

Preface: I have no experience with Quicken Essentials, but have read, quite often, on this and other forums that it is a further strip down of features from Quicken 2007.  So I agree, get Quicken 2007 for Lion/Mt. Lion, but...
    BE CAREFUL with Quicken!
When Intuit finally released Quicken 2007 for Lion v16.1.1 in March, 2013 it was a godsend for older Quicken PPC users.  It will directly open the data file from Quicken 2005, 2006 or 2007 PPC versions.  The upgrade to 16.1.2 with the release of Mountain Lion was also stable.
I found version 16.1.3 to crash on opening on my Lion Mac, so I downgraded back to version 16.1.2 and all is well.  Others are now reporting that version 16.1.4, the current version sold by Intuit, is also causing some problems.  I have not been able to isolate these reports.
My point: purchase Quicken 2007 for Lion, but ALSO:
    1.  Make copies of your Quicken 2007 PPC data file and back them up BEFORE you attempt to open it in 16.1.4; and
    2.  If you run into problems, let me know by email (michaellax) at AOL dot com.
If it works fine for you, please report that too!
PS: Baltwo will tell you he has encountered no problems and good for him.  But the reports of others with problems keep mounting...

  • I have the Mac Os 10.4.11, and iTunes store will no longer come up on my screen to order tunes.  A download screen appears for the new iTunes. I can't download the new iTunes unless I get the new operating system for my mac.  Is there a way around this?

I have an iMac with a 10.4.11 operating system.  When I click on iTunes Store, I no longer get the iTunes screen, instead, I get a new iTunes download screen.
I can't download the new iTunes without upgrading my operating system.  Is there a way around this problem without buying the new operating system?
I haven't been able to download songs for awhile now.

which version of iTunes are you on ? if it's earlier than iTunes 9.2.1, get it here.
