Here's my experience

So My b210 for some unknown reason has stopped working with my ipad I reset to factory It tells me to log on to eprint I go to log on Hp eprint tells me i ***HAVE*** to combine by existing snapfish account that i never even knew i had let alone used. It will not allow me to continue until i have entered this password I click forgot snapfish password Takes me to a site with an apache resource not found error .!???? Now what.... Iknow got to snapfish direct. Go to reset password Get same stupid resource not found Go to help - contact us via email -Takes me to logon screen ! How the ! Is anyone who cannot login supposed to email dor help ? I give up - thanks to whatever idiot designed this I cannot get to my eprint account Thanks HP So glad i bought your stuff, bbut then you have my money so not surprised you don't care

I'm not sure exactly what your trying to do here. Resetting your iPad to factory defaults should not have anything to do with ePrint.
Are you trying to print using AirPrint, printing directly from your iPad through certain apps such as Photos, Mail, Notes, or Safari?
or
Are you trying to use the HP ePrint app?
or
Are you using ePrint by emailing to the printers email address?
As far as getting into your account, it sounds like you may be having some browser issues. I just went to Snapfish and ePrintCenter and was able to log into both of them just fine on my end.
All you have to do is go to http://www.snapfish.com/ and click "Log In" in the top right hand corner of the page.
Then click "Forgot your password?", put in your email address and hit submit.
You will then recieve a email from Snapfish with a temporary password and a link to change that password.
After you change the password, go to http://www.eprintcenter.com/ and simply login with your email address (personal, not ePrint) and the password that you just created.

  • Anyone here have good experience with iPhone compatible Ip Cameras?

    Hi
i wanted to know if anyone here actually owns a decent camera they can recommend with a iPhone that records to SD remotely or when motion detection is activated (remotely), has night vision, an zoom tilt or simply works so good and you can use a few at the same time.
i tried a few lower end linkseys and d-links models as well as rimax fixed and wireless models, all which where a mess to set up since the software was written for PCs and some only ran on internet Explorer which does not exist on mac osx any more.
    So please let me know
    Cheers

How does working in wide screen seem when you want full pages?
I have a Dell 20+ (24", I think) at the office. It is 9:16 ratio and a delight to use with InDesign. I regularly compose with binding in mind, so this allows me to have pallets open and view the full spread at the same time. However, if you are needing large type on your icons and menu bars, then you will lose a lot of real estate. I'm not sure you will be able to get the full benefit I receive. I have the resolution set to the monitor's native resolution.
At home, I work with a 15" laptop (9:16) and a second monitor (4:3) that is the same width as the laptop. The second monitor is an LCD and very old (hardware age), so it doesn't do well at the same resolution the laptop does. But the laptop is shorter than the old monitor. Anyway, I do my page view on the laptop because of the better resolution. I put all my menus and pallets on the other monitor. This works well.

  • Well here is my experience; what is yours?

Several months ago I obtained a PB 12" 1.5 Ghz, SD. Still newest specs.
    Added memory to 1.25 Ghz.
Returned to Apple to repair screen illumination problem (satisfactorily
    repaired quickly).
This laptop now preformes perfectly and have no intention of replacing it soon.
BTW, get 4.5 hrs of battery use after 6 mo.
    Less if play a DVD.
Bottom line - pleased with this PB.

While I'm sure the majority of PB 12-inch models are quality builds, mine has been something of a disaster. Two bad hard drives in less than two years. And I'm not alone--do a search for "hard drive buzz" in this area of the Discussions.
I've owned five different PowerBooks in the past 10 years, including a PowerBook 2400 that is now 7 years old and whose original hard drive still works perfectly. I wish the same was true of my PB12.

  • BT Xtreme Experience ... A Rant / Complaint to BT

BT are incredibly renowned for their atrocious customer service and pernicious greed. I have been with them for over 14 years. Now I am leaving. And the relief is so huge i just had to write. More than relief. Its like I've finally cut ties with a force so relentlessly demanding and utterly sociopathic that its left me many times feeling like smashing the house up. Or something. I don't usually get so worked up about things. (I didn't smash the house up!) Nor do I usually write with so many descriptive terms. I'm usually a bit grumpy and fired up in the mornings, so that is the time I would choose to call BT whenever there was a problem. Fueled by adrenilin I would get the confidence to be firm and to explain myself clearly and stand my ground. Any other time of the day and I would be too tired to plan the call. Imagine having to get up the nerve and the confidence to phone someone up - that you are paying - whenever there is a problem. So many times I wimped out. Or got so far with the advisor(s), after so much time on one call, that I would give up. Or just hang up.
I was with BT for about 11 years until my phone was cut off. I had missed a couple of payments as I had been in rehab. (I'm out now and doing well). When I got out of rehab in Nov 2010, I phoned O2 up to get a package with them. I did not want to go with BT after horrible billing mistakes etc in the past. And many long hours on the phone to them. But O2 would take about a month to put the line in. I was kind of desperate to get a line in so I called BT and they said they could do it sooner (wierd as its BT that does the work either way). Here is my experience that I want to share. I know some people have had WAY worse.
Nov 10 approx - called BT. Line arranged to be installed Nov 26 2010.
Nov 26 - No dial tone. I call BT and they assure me my line is connected. They get me to troubleshoot etc. i phone them on and off for the next few days. Eventually they tell me an engineer will come out in about a week (a couple of delays on this). They don't know what's wrong. Blame my house.
Dec 6 approx - It is found that the line was installed in a place I had lived in 2 years earlier. And I had had a BT line for 2 years at my new place after living there. So the old addresss should have been long gone in their records.
    Dec 9 - Line installed.
Then come all the bills. On Dec 12 I recieved a first reminder of a bill for 4.50 after recieving my first bill (line rental and payment processing fee) 14.79. The 4.50 I disputed with them. They couldn't explain it.
Dec 16 - I recieve a check for 1 pence. i have it and a picture of it . No explanation. Dear Sir/madam. Please find enclosed cheque as agreed. Yours faithfully. British Telecom PLC. And I was locked in with these guys now for 12 months.
Dec 29 -  I had a final payment demand for the mysterious 4.50 threatening to limit my service and warning me there would be a charge to get the service back to normal. I disputed it. I had talked to them so much since first ordering. I had used a lot of money to call them on my mobile when all the problems were happening. I thought they owed me something. They offered to pay my mobile calls as long as I got an official itemised list somehow and sent it to them. Oh lordy. I didn't do this. I couldn't imagine what getting something like this may entail.
    Jan 12 - I pay the 14.79. i get the 4.50 written off.
Jan 31 - I get my bill. 7.50 late fees added for the 14.79
I pay it. Because I am tired.
Feb 6 - One off bill of 127.99 for engineering work carried out between Nov 26th (when the line was put into the wrong house) and Feb 13. Asked to pay by Feb 13th on the bill. They said it was for engineering work carried out on the 10th of December. As I remember, this was when the engineer came out the day after it was connected at the right address, because the line was very crackly and wasn't working well.
Another long couple of phone calls and they say it was written off... I get a letter confirming it a week later.
Since then one call out as the line went dead for a few days.
Upshot : Its not over yet. I have finally switched to O2 and am due to be connected on March 3 2012. I am writing all his mainly to get the BT experience off my chest BUT ALSO because I am quite nervous about what kind of charges they will think up to put on the final bill. I am dreading it. I was on a 12 month contract so they can't really charge me as thats finished. And its the dread of having to talk to them again. And the worry that they may make me pay some extortionate fee in order to switch to O2.
Analysis of what I've actually paid to BT in 14 months. (I've made 4 late payments - late by maximum of 28 days)
    387.00 Total payments I've made
    122.37 on calls
    208.79 on line rental
0 on call package (weekend plan)
    30.00 on late fees
    26.67 on payment processing fees
British telecom have essentially charged me 56.67 for the inconvenience to them of paying late and not paying by direct debit (even when I changed to paperless billing, printed out my own invoice, went to my local shop to pay it - it was still 1.89 a month!) I do understand these charges were in the contract and I did know about them (didn't realize the late payment fee was so high though at first). But if there are these expectations of me and all other BT customers, why can't we have any expectations from them. Why is it so hard to get anything from them.
And I have recieved in compensation 1p. That I have to go out and cash because its a check. Yay. I read of this happening to someone before as well, a check for 1p. All I can think is that it must be deliberate. A chance to get back at angry demanding customers.
I really wanted to share my experience as its been building up for so long.
On a final note, the whole organization was epitomized to me when, after finally getting them to write off the mysterious 4.50, and asking for some kind of compensation, the operator said to me.
“I just wrote off the 4.50. You have your line now. What more do you expect?” Then he asked me on a scale of 1-10 how happy was I with my call to BT today. Or something like that.
It makes me think that BT consider the 127.99 and 4.50 that they wrote off (after so many long agonizing phone calls from me) is a big favour to me. As if they were giving me the money by not making me pay it. Something quite twisted going on there to be sure.
Thanks for allowing me to share my experiences. Even if no-one reads it, I’m glad to get it out there.

Thanks for the replies. I see what you mean but the one clear advantage is that if there are problems, O2 has to sort it with openreach and i don't. I don't have to talk directly to anyone from BT again! I've actually never had a frustrating phone call to O2. Ever. I feel easy phoning them. Phoning BT is just dread - and this generally turns out to be justified dread.
Also why the empahisis on the fact that I am not leaving BT altogether. I know this. It is in my post.
This is a wierd forum - it is very hard to know who to trust.
And I really have to assume that BT call centre people etc are trained to be the way they are. It must be acceptable practice in BT for the simple reason that its been the same for years and if it was unacceptable it would have been changed. And people would have been fired for their behavior. But calls to BT are recorded. So the people I talk to on the phone are not afraid to be rude, oblique, blaming of the customer, patronizing. So it MUST be acceptable practice. And rarely getting a straight answer or relevant reply.
Its already happened on this thread.

  • The SAP documentation "Experience"

    Hi everybody,
I have a small problem with Adobe Document Services and so I need to check the configuration that I did.
I decided to use the last available documentation. Here is my experience on this specific case of documentation finding :
I started from the installation guide I used to install my J2EE system :
    >SAP Enhancement Package 4 for SAP ERP 6.0 Java on Windows:
    >MS SQL Server
    >Based on SAP NetWeaver 7.0 including Enhancement Package 1
    OK, page 107, I can read :
    >Perform manual configuration as described in the Adobe Document Services Configuration
    >Guide at:
    >http://help.sap.com/nw70 SAP NetWeaver 7.0 Library (including Enhancement Package 1) English
    >SAP NetWeaver Library Technology Consultantu2019s Guide Business Task Management Adobe Document Services
    >(Configuration) Adobe Document Services Configuration Guide
    Let's go to help.sap.com
Here I find first a list of important SAP notes.
The first one seems to be a must reading : 894009 Adobe document services: Configuration Guide (NW 7.0)
Let's go to read this note : I have to copy and paste the note number because the HTML link has not yet been invented at help.sap.com !
I now display the note which tells me that :
    >The current version of the configuration guide for SAP NetWeaver 7.0 is at the Internet address >http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/adobe. Choose Installation & Configuration -> SAP Interactive Forms - Configuration Guides.
    >We recommend you always use the newest version.
    OK, let's go to www.sdn.sap.com
Of course the screens have changed since the note was written and I have to find by myself that the configuration guide is here :
    System Administration --> ADS Configuration
When I click on ADS Configuration, I'm back at the help.sap.com page where I came from !
On this page I can read :
    >Check the newest printable version of this Configuration Guide in the SAP Service Marketplace, available at >http://service.sap.com/adobe ® Media Library  ® Documentation.
Ok, back to service.sap.com where I am welcomed by this great message :
    >The content of your interest has been moved to the SAP Developer Network (SDN) Community within the SAP Community >Network.
    >Please use the following link to access all information on SDN:
    >Please click to display the information about
    >Adobe
    >in a separate browser window.
If you click on the Adobe link, you get back to http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/adobe !
So the loop has been looped twice and I have now got a headache !
I think there is a good space for documentation improvements from SAP, don't you think so ?
I propose that if you make the same kind of SAP documentation "experience", you can report here.
Exposing it might be a way to get improvements and to have fun too !
    Cheers,
    Olivier

  • Any experience with refurb iMacs?

    Howdy all...
Wondered if anyone here has any experience with purchasing refurbished units from the apple.com store site? There seem to be a few deals there, and they do offer applecare, just wondering if maybe that's where all the lemons end up?
Any experiences at all would be great to hear, and don't need to be limited to iMacs... just really interested in the refurb experience as a whole.
    Thanks,
    adam

I bought a refurbished BlackBook at the end of June and it arrived in absolutely perfect condition - it even smelled new.
Refurbs are a great value. You get a discount, the full one year warrantee, and the ability to extend that to three years with AppleCare. For all intents and purposes, Apple treats it like a new unit.
I have even read here about people getting "free" upgrades with refurbs. Apple advertises the base configurations and ships out whatever they have in stock. Sometimes that means a larger HD or more RAM, but do not count on it. I would hold off on ordering RAM or a larger HD until you actually receive it to see what it comes with.

  • Z10 User Experience

So, here my user experience with BB Z10 which I have as replacement for previous model like Bold, 9900 in a business environment with BBEXS
    1. The camera is broken after one day (posted in topic "Camera cannot start")
    2. The Z10 caused by OS10 cannot be connected with the existing infrastructure of BBEXS, an upgrade would be needed. Since I am the first one in the company with that phone, do you really believe, that companies want to switch a  running system ???? I do not think that it was a good idea to loose the compatibility here !
    3. Running time - after 5 years of Smartphones ala iPhone and the experience of BB with phones since a decade or longer, do you really think, the current running time is sufficient? I do not use FB or chatting all day long, but after 12 hours I need a recharge. The previous models and the second BB I have, the battery remain 2-3 days . Yes, I have two active phones because of my changing workplace between Asia and Europe
    4. the other implemented ideas are nice and an evolution of the handling - I never had iPhone so I do not compare in that way. But, you should have also guidelines for apps - sometimes, symbols are so small, to hit them is not a nice thing.
    5. A possible exchange (see point 1) will take a couple of days - you should educate providers, that BB are still mostly used by business guys (also women so, should I leave my phone there and wait for days or what ??? BB on the other side, should provide quick and easy replacement. Hey Guys, I have read that some people think, the Z10 is your last chance to keep on track with the development of phones. With all the things above, why should I use BB ?? I also can use Samsung or iPhone when the integration into existing infrastructures is not possible
    Thanks for your attention

  • My WRT350N and WPC300N experiences!

    Hi
I have used a WRT350N (V2) and a WPC300N PC-card for a few weeks now. Here are my experiences. I have attached an already formatted NTFS disk with files on it, to the USB port. All files suddenly have the System attribute set. Files are then kind of writeprotected. Can not be overwritten. Has to be deleted before a new file with same name can be copied to the disk. This really makes the USB disk feature useless. I have tried to connect another disk, and format it (Claim Disk) from within the WRT350N MMI (FAT32 was used) and files copied to the disk still have the S attribute set!
I have quite a few network timeouts using this combination. This is on all types of operations. Browsing, retrieving email, filecopy, Remote Desktop usage. The distance between the 2 devices are only 7 meters, but in between there is a wall (a door between the 2 rooms/devices is just 1/2m from the router). The first days i actually used the WPC300N card with my WRT54G (v5), and this worked flawlessly. No timeouts at all. Actually better than the standard Intel 22xx B/G internal module in my laptop. The 2 routers were placed at the exactly same place (same with the laptop).
I have a Qtek 9100 PDA with WLAN. This device is not able to connect to the WRT350N. The network is discovered, and the PDA tries to connect, but it does not succeed at any time. With my WRT54G there is no problems at all.
I really like this concept with WLAN/N, GIGABIT and USB storage in the same product. Any suggestions to enhance its performance? Thanks!

Welcome to the club I have some of the same problems. When I set up my usb disk connected to my laptop, move all my files over then connect it to my router eveything seems fine, but I cannot delete certain files or folders. Problem seems random. then when I start to copy files to the drive over the network about ten or twelve files copy then I get an error that the network drive is no longer found. then both lights on my WPC300n go off. if I bring up the utility for the card it says I am connected but I'm not. the only way i have found to resolve this is to reboot. I tried setting up the usb drive through the router claiming it etc. this did not seem to help either. I can put an old cisco 802.11b card in my laptop and not have any problems copying files to the drive but it is so slow. Both router and network card have the latest drivers and firmware. I was going to call tech support but won't be able to find the time until late next week. If you here any thing Please pass it on and I will do the same.

  • Systemd experience, or "Of Mice and Mounts"

I cutover to systemd.  Here are my experiences, for better or for worse.  Maybe it will help someone.
The wiki's systemd migration page is very good!  I followed it, yet ran into a few problems outside the scope of the page.  I should add here that I want to run in a mixed initscripts/systemd environment fo ease my migration, as the wiki suggests.  My system is a home server, and for external access I run only ssh.
Mounts -- Systemd hung trying to mount all my drives according to /etc/fstab, especially my ipod.
I changed most of them to "noauto" then I was ok.
Mouse woudn't work under X windows.
Looks like it was enumerated as /dev/input/mice not /dev/input/mouse0 as before.  Added "mice" as a section in /etc/X11/xorg.conf and then it was fine.
Netcfg under systemd renamed my two ethernet interfaces from wan and house to wan0 and house0.
Ok, this wasn't a problem, but it's not what I expected.
    Cups wouldn't start.
I googled and found someone else on the net had this same problem; he replaced the cupsd.socket file and it worked for him.  It also worked for me.
Postgrey wouldn't start.  It turns out that the postgrey.service file ignores the POSTGREY_ADDR variable in /etc/conf.d/postgrey, so it wasn't starting on the socket which I wanted it to, but on a hard-coded port number.  Oh well.
So as I had done for cups, I cloned the default postgrey.service tile in /usr/lib/systemd/system to /etc/systemd/system, and removed the hardcoded port.  Also had to "reenable" the service to make it pick up the new service file.  Now it picks up /etc/conf.d/postgrey as I think it should.
SSH -- I have it running on a port other than the default.
Again, I cloned the sshd.socket file, changed the port, restarted it, and now it's ok.
Samba is started as a legacy service.  Others are too, probably, like dhcp4.  I suppose I'll have to eventually change the legacy samba service into smbd and nmbd like the old days.
Laptop -- Cutover to systemd on it too.  Had a few problems like these above, but that's ancient history now (last week!)  What I do like is that the power management functions work better now.  It doesn't always wake up well from sleeping, but I suppose I'll figure that out someday too.

This seems like it should go to your blog not on the forums.

  • Kernel panic solution - My experience

I faced kernel panic during kernel update. Here is my experience in solving the issue:
    http://cutecomputer.wordpress.com/2006/ … -solution/
I request Arch developers to take care of this issue which often raises. It is mostly related to update of kernel command line in grub/lilo.

Most important step people have to remember when updating latest 2.6 kernel: http://www.archlinux.org/news/

  • Toshiba Satellite L3** CD/DVD issue !!! Here is my solution. How about you?

Hello everyone. Nowadays, I see on this forum people are discussing about the CD/DVD issues on L30/L300/L350. I would like to share my experience on this issue and hope everyone shares your experience as well.
My laptop are Toshiba L30 PSL33 and Toshiba L300 PSLB2E. I am lucky that I have no problem with CD/DVD discs/drives as I can read/write/play CD/DVD smoothly. However, I used to have some problems with CD/DVD drive on my notebook. Here is my experience.
    1) Make sure there is no other CD/DVD softwares on your computer (except the orginal software from Toshiba). Especially to those who have been used to using Nero. If you have problems, try to remove Nero and test with the one supported by Windows
    2) If you still have problems, try to update the firmware of the DVD drive. It can be done by visiting the Toshiba Support Driver site (http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/). Check what drive you have by looking at the Device Manager. Download the newest firmware from there and update your drive.
    3) My last solution. If you have Vista pre-installed, try to get a XP version on your computer and do not install any other software. Test/copy a CD by using windows writing tool to see whether the problem is solved or not.
In my opinion. the main reasons you may encournter are: there are CD/DVD drives have XP firmware base and need to be updated so that they can be used in Vista; or there are software like Nero and PowerDVD are causing the conflict between the ACPI controllers (real and simulated).
Hope this may help you all. If you have other experiences, please share with everyone.
PS: Please excuse my language as I am not an English speaker.

  • Creative Zen MX Experience/Thoughs

    Hello guys,
Here's the experience I had with a new zen mx I bought.
As soon as I received it I tried turning it on but it did not respond so I figured perhaps the battery is empty.
So i connected it to the computer, it turned on and it showed a small battery indicator charging, "Docked" was written on the screen and in the middle there were 2 arrows surrounding a folder I think.
at this stage it was I could see the dri've "My Zen" showing up in my computer.
When the battery indicator showed that the battery was fully charged I plugged it off from the computer and still it didn't turned on.
By now I knew the player was problematic, Grasping straws I tried to do a firmware update which only made things worse.
after the update was done, when connecting it to the computer there was this black screen and in the middle of it a big battery icon that is not moving with a lightning bolt in the middle.
I tried to look what this diagram meant in the user guide diagram section but there was not refference to it at all.
By the way now the dri've "My Zen" wasn't showing up anymore.
I made a quick google search "Zen MX won't turn on/power on" to find hundreds of post on different forums with people having this sort of problem and the only solution offered was to change the unit.
I know that people only post when they have a problem and not when is everything is working but still there must be something wrong with this player and this couldn't be a coincedence.
I'll try to replace it today.

Went today and changed my player to the Zen X-fi. It only cost 0$ more. Just from seeing the packing I knew this was a completely different and quality player. For now it is working fine and i'm very happy with it. That Zen mx is really crappy in face comparing it to other creative players that compete with: The Zen and the Zen X-fi (I'm not including the X-Fi 2 because it is much bigger). The Zen X-fi has much more feature and the only difference between the Zen Mx and the regular Zen is that the Zen Mx only plays creative video format while the Zen player most regular video formats. Hope this post will help anyone who finds it. Been following creative since I had the first Jukebox and I hope their players continue getting better and better.

  • Any experience buying a new contract from Amazon Wireless?

So I'm currently contemplating switching from my current network over to Verizon Wireless and using the sale on Amazon Wireless where every phone is a penny with a new activation. I was wondering if anyone here has any experience getting a contract through amazon wireless and would give some feedback on their system. Should I go through Amazon to get my contract with Verizon or would I better off paying for the phone and going to a physical store to get up my contract?

If you buy through Amazon, you will sign 2 contracts, one with Verizon to maintain your line of service for 2 years and one with Amazon to keep that particular phone active and not change your plan for 6 months.  If you think you may need to make changes to your plan, or you'll want to activate another phone within that first 6 months, then you'll want to go directly through Verizon, or through another retailer that doesn't ask you to sign that type of contract.

  • LabVIEW Experience + MBA in India

    Hello all,
I am currently having 2+ years of work ex. in LabVIEW domain. I was thinking about appearing for CAT 2010. But I am not very sure how MBA would shape my career path/future. Has anyone here having work experience in LabVIEW field pursued MBA? What would be the good streams to do MBA in for this type of work experience? For me, I would be looking for going to a Manager post in technical field, 3-4 years down the line.
All MBA guys working in LabVIEW, please comment!

^ ^ Well, I am actually not "looking for employment" so this won't fit there either!
This is just a general question, but didn't find a proper place to post it.

MBA with labVIEW is not the wierdest of combination. Except a "HR" I suppose the rest will add some value.
Which stream in MBA do you think will be most beneficial?

  • Please share experience with managed cluster

    Folks,
I am curious to hear about your experience with compressor's managed cluster.
Here is my experience with a setup that consists of
    a) 8 quadcore mac mini, with Mountain Lion and Compressor 4.06
    b) NFS storage connected with 1gb link to each mac mini
    c) Compressor preference set to never copy to/from cluster storage
Experiment 1: One managed cluster with 4 compressor service instances on eight mac mini. So a total of 32 compressor instances.
The instances are set to send an email when they go down.
Source: 4K Image sequence with 1850 images
    Target: Apple ProRes 422 (default)
    Output: NFS storage
    Observations:
    1) The target codec determines the number of segments the job gets broken down into. For example the HD 1080p setting will break the job into atmost 6 segments (regardless of 32 instances that I have available). In case of ProRes 422 the number of segment were 64 ie 2x more than the number of instances available.
    2) The compressors service instances are extremely temperamental and flimsy. I got over 100 error notification for this experimental job, about a dozen instances of compressor were in bad state/dead and the job failed with many errors as follows.
The error seems to indicate an issue with file naming, but I am unsure what it points towards

******************************************************************************** ******************************************************************************** ************ Experiment 2: Experiment 2: One managed cluster with 2 compressor service instances on seven mac mini. The master controller is not running any compressor instances its just taking care of house keeping. So a total of 14 compressor instances.
Source: 4K Image sequence with 1850 images
    Target: Apple ProRes 422 (default)
    Output: NFS storage
Observations: job failed, two dead compressor instances and about 20 error notifications of instance down
    Conclusions:
Overall, the jobs which transcode movies from one format to another have a good chance of success. However the same is not true for Image sequences.
The distributed compressor instances are extremely flaky and their revival scheme of four times(as per documentation) is not enough.
I am eager to know your experience with distributed encoding using compressor.
    a) What are your thoughts on stability of distributed encoding using compressor for a large number of jobs
    b) Is there an automatic way to revive dead compressor instances?
    c) What other tools are out there which perform better? I am looking for a way to setup unmanned operation.
    Cheers

Have been playing around with Report Designer and I found it useful for basic formatting but not  for the one's you had mentioned in your post.
SAPs suggests you do all the data manipulation in the Query Designer or Infocube and use Report Designer for just formatting the data. In the past we had issues where we could not certain calculation in query designer and have used Crystal Reports along with BI data for similar kind of things which you had mentioned in your post (using sub reports and report level data manipulation). Report Designer unfortunately does not provide any of these functionalities.
I have seen comments from SAP saying Report Designer will be developed further, not sure of any specific functionality whichis coming in. I think it is SAPs first step in the formatted reporting area and may be in the future we will have a tool which can handle much more complex scenarios!
    Thanks.
