Here's my plan:

Wait for the NHL-playoffs, get a ticket to a whichever game 7, game's over one team's dropped, people throw beach balls on the ice, throw my MBP running Logic 9.01 there with them.

Oi!
Get off my thread. What with your wine and your chocolates. And your seemingly sound fix it plan, what is he... a girl?
Noooo... he a manly man.
Therefore... I propose total annihilation of said mac.

  • Can anyone help me with this: my daughter lost her unlimited data plan when I used her upgrade.

My daughter lost her unlimited data plan when I used her upgrade to buy a new phone (upgrade transfer). She didn't upgrade her phone, I did. No one told us this was going to happen and the first I knew of it was when I got a letter in the mail telling me of the change. We went back to the store where we bought the new phone and they put in 2 requests for her unlimited plan to be reinstated, but both were denied. They then told us to call Customer Care, but Customer Care doesn't care. Does anyone else have any experience of this and know of any recourse we may have? Thanks for any help you can give me.

She didn't upgrade her phone, but you did by using her upgrade.  It's her contract that then gets extended, not yours.  And, unfortunately, as of last June, whenever you sign a new two-year contract, you lose your unlimited data.  You can try to reverse the upgrade and get the unlimited data restored if within 30 14 days, but since Verizon has discontinued the unlimited data plans for everyone, I'm not sure how successful you'll be.
For what it's worth, to keep unlimited data (at least for now; rumor has it that it may be completely gone next summer), you don't want to sign a new two-year contract, but pay full retail price, get the phone elsewhere (like ebay), or use an upgrade from a phone that's on a tiered data plan.
It's 14 days, tiki.  Otherwise they are out of luck.

  • Here is my plan for upgrading to Lion

I assumed that there was going to end up being a huge thread about problems with upgrading to Lion. And I have too much at stake (Adobe, Microsoft products, etc) to be helping beta test such a major upgrade.
And I am really amazed out how many people are desperate to go back a version...back to Snow Leopard in order to restore their working applications. So if it was so critical that Lion work the first time with your installed apps, why did you have such terrible backup plans in place?
So here is my foolproof (hopefully) solution to protecting against an upgrade meltdown.
    It's VERY simple.
Purchase another hard drive for your Macbook Pro (Sorry, won't work with Air,...I know.)
Clone it and then install it into your Mac, or restore from your Time Machine. (Or just verify that it boots and works ok)
Go to the online Mac store and purchase and install your Lion upgrade. If it works for you....fine. If not re-install the other drive and wait a few months for the bug updates to arrive.... and then try again.
Before you complain about purchasing another hard drive. Don't be so cheap. If you can afford a Mac, you can afford $60 for a new hard drive. Isn't your sanity worth it? Then buy an enclosure and and use it as a backup drive.
    Is this concept so tough?

You don't even have to buy an internal drive, an external works just as well and then there's no fuss about installing it.
You can use SuperDuper! or CarbonCopyCloner and make the external bootable to test it.
Well, that's what I did before upgrading

So when I get that it never comes back..Refer to the Tom Kyte column mentioned, but just a few comments: Your query seems to be missing an explicit ORDER BY, so it's unsure what order you're actually thinking of when performing your pagination.
Second, using "rn between :s_index and :e_index" doesn't activate the FIRST_ROWS_n mode of the optimizer. You should use either an explicit FIRST_ROWS(n) hint, or even better, use the more convoluted double-inline view syntax as shown by Tom (... where rownum <= :M ... where rnum >= :N).
If you don't have a supporting index for the ORDER requested, you should see at least a SORT ORDER BY STOPKEY operation. At least one of the columns of the index needs to be defined as NOT NULL to be supported by a normal b*tree index. If you have character-based columns in the ORDER BY/index definition you need to make sure that you're using NLS_SORT = binary on the clients involved, otherwise again a normal b*tree index can't be used for returning the result set in the order requested.

  • FCP on PBG4 - Here's the plan

So, my upgrade to FCE4 (from FCE3) didn't go as well as planned. I thought I'd be able to work on a sequence in FCE4, then move to FCP6 and finalize it. (I have access to a Mac Pro with FCP6, but only on occasion). I found out that FCP6 won't read FCE4 sequences because FCE4 is too new.
So, how about this plan: Buy and install FCP6 on my aging PB G4 (1.67, 2gbs ram). Then I can work on the sequences (albeit slowly), and move the sequence to the Mac Pro when I'm ready for heavier lifting and finalization (Motion, Color, Compressor, etc.).
AND, when I upgrade to a MacBook Pro in the coming months, I can just reinstall FCP6 there, right?
So, does that make sense, or am I missing something? (Like, it won't translate well from PB to Mac Pro, or something).

Your plan will probably work, your powerbook is underpowered for FCP 6 as you know.
But if you can get it installed (the video card is the limiting factor, I believe), you should be able to limp along.
You will want all your media on an external hard drive (firewire, 800 if the PB has it). (you didn't mention your format, hopefully dv).
Get that new Macbook Pro asap. and yes it will install just fine on that. Get lots of RAM (quality 3rd party)

  • Do i get VAT refund if buy macbook here online and plan to go back to my country soon?

As VAT refund is the policy for tourists in thailand, so if i buy a macbook Pro here online (as i have to config). will i get VAT refund? And if yes, how would i get the form?

Go back and ask them to do it right ... re-installling ML, then copy ONLY DATA this time from Lion to ML.
If you prefer to have rights to an ML download to use on other Macs in the household, then you may ask for a free copy of ML instead and upgrade yourself.

  • Why did your representative lie to my mother to trick her out of a fantastic plan?

I don't expect any results other than a couple of other customers shaking their head, but I just want to air this out in a semi-public forum...
I recently found out that one of Verizon's representatives, months ago, lied to my mother to get her to give up a fantastic plan. We previously had our entire family grandfathered into an "unlimited everything" plan from when I left home for college (before "unlimited everything" was even a term). She visited a store for an issue with her phone, where the "helpful" associate noted that she was spending more than she needed to upon pulling her account. He could get her the same plan for less money! Awesome!!! By same plan, of course, he meant hands-down worse in every way if you looked at it. My mother is quite trusting and, unfortunately, did not look at it.
I spoke with an in-store associate about this on my end of the state. I was told that there is indeed a "bounty" on getting customers to give up plans from the days when carriers were still competing, before they had a strangle-hold on their customers. He apologized that the employee who fooled my mother appeared to be "a bit overzealous" in his attempts to get a bonus for himself. He did not see anything wrong with the general policy, and he certainly couldn't help me to undo the damage, he said. It took a good deal of self control to not make a scene at this response, considering that it was followed rather quickly with an attempt to sell me accessories "as long as I was in the store." For the record, feigned sympathy + blatant sales pitch = terrible customer service.
On a follow-up visit to determine if I would upgrade my phone or leave Verizon, another associate told me, in as many words, that I was welcome to leave. But, he cautioned, every plan with every carrier would continue to get more expensive over time--I would only be costing myself more if I tried to "vote with my dollars." Unfortunately, he was right. I ran the numbers, and it would already be more expensive to leave Verizon on the dust. Note that Verizon was not better than the competition according to my research--it was expensive to do anything but just take what was being dished out.
There you have it: While Verizon does not specifically encourage their employees to trick you out of a good plan, they apparently give them good reason to do so. On top of that, they know that there isn't a thing you can do to stop them or get your old plan back if you slip up.
    Caveat emptor, I suppose.
    -Leon

Hi.  I checked on the order and it says the order is currently being processed and I should check back tomorrow. I'm mostly just concerned because I got an email saying the order was on hold, and I want to make sure it actually does go through and I'm not just waiting for a delivery that's not going to come. I'm still confused as to why I'd get an email saying I had to call the fraud department only to be told I shouldn't have called the fraud department.

  • Family Plan Upgrade to New Phones/Activation

    Hi,
My mom is the primary line for our family plan. We have 3 other lines besides hers in the plan. All the phonelines are eligible for upgrades right now, but my mom's line has an extra $50 dollars off upgrade discount.
My question is, if my mom's line is upgraded to a certain phone, does that certain phone have to be activated using her phone number, or could I activate her phone and use it with my phone number?
Reason being is, she doesn't want a fancy phone but her line has nicer phones to upgrade to since she has the $50 discount. I was wondering if she could upgrade to that phone, but then if I could activate it using my phone number (so in effect the phone would actually be mine without my phone number having to change)?
    Thanks,
    MM
Oh I was also wondering, when it says "Data Pack required" for a phone that I want to upgrade to, do I have to get a data pack in order to upgrade to the phone or get one after upgrading to the phone? Can I just upgrade to the phone without using data or getting a data pack?

My question is, if my mom's line is upgraded to a certain phone, does that certain phone have to be activated using her phone number, or could I activate her phone and use it with my phone number?  Yes, you can do this.  If you order in-store or over the phone, just explain what you want to do to the rep and they will take care of it.  If you order online, have your Mom click on the "transfer upgrade" button next to her line and that will start the process.

I was wondering if she could upgrade to that phone, but then if I could activate it using my phone number (so in effect the phone would actually be mine without my phone number having to change)? Note that any phone that is eligible to upgrade can purchase any of the phones that Verizon currently offers at the 1 or 2 year contract price.  The only difference in what is available to your Mom's line is the $50 credit ON TOP of the reduced contract price.
    Thanks,
    MM

You must have a data package active on the line that the phone is active on at all times.  When you activate the phone on any line, you will be automatically prompted to select an appropriate data package,

  • End of contract questions (Data plan and upgrade eligibility)

    Hi All,
I found another thread also titled "End of contract questions" and it was very helpful but I want to make sure I'm not mistaken in any way.  Here's my scenario:
    2 Line Plan
    ME (primary): 2-year contract, unlimited Data (10/15/10 - 10/15/12)
    WIFE: 1-year contract, unlimited data (10/15/10 - 10/15/11)
I signed her up for a 1-year contract on the advice of the Verizon rep that was helping us.  It ended up netting an additional cost of $70-100 (I forget exactly) but it was worth it in my opinion because I knew that one of us would be able to get a new phone in 1 year as opposed to 2.
So here are the specific questions:
    1.  Verizon has done away with 1-year contracts.  This means that whenever my wife goes in to renew her contract (and get a new device), she will need to sign a 2 year contract, correct?  All further questions will be posed based on a "yes" answer to this one.
    2.  Assuming she has to sign a 2-year contract, will she still be able to retain her unlimited data plan?
    3.  Assuming she signs up for a 2-year contract, will she still be able to get "loyalty" pricing or whatever they're calling it now (used to be "new every 2")?  Is she even eligible for anything since she's not the primary on the line?
    4.  In the other thread titled "End of contract questions..." it was mentioned that "The loyalty discount expires 6 months after it becomes available -- so 2 months after your contract ends".  Is this correct?
    5.  Currently, if I go to MyVerizon and hover over the "?" next to my number and "Eligible for a discount" it says:  "You are eligible to upgrade with discounted pricing. If you upgrade on or after 6/15/12 you are eligible to receive an additional loyalty discount. "  I intend to wait for my line as it still has a year on the contract however when I do the same for my wife's line it says:  You are eligible to upgrade with discounted pricing."  Does it not mention the Loyalty discount because it's not applicable to a secondary line?  Or perhaps because it's implied since she's technically out of her contract period?
I'm trying to make heads or tails of this.  At the time, it sounded like a great idea (her on a 1-year, me/primary on a 2-year).  I'm hoping it will work out for us so that every year, one of us will be eligible for a new line.  I'm only concerned with the unlimited data aspect being that she's going to be going from a 1-year to a 2-year and also the actual loyalty/discount aspect.
Thanks in advance for anyone who helps!!

If you're using OC4J standalone, use the latest available OC4J, 10.1.3.3.
If you're using a manage OC4J, ie. Application Server, upgrade to the latest available version and upgrade your JDK. The provided JDK might be outdated.

  • Cannot select Planning outline in Business Rules

    Hi Everyone,
I am not being able to select the planning outline while developing business rules (but I can select the Essbase Outline). Whenever I expand the Planning node, an error pops up the details of which says "Error connecting to Essbase server machinename/testapp." There is a details button which says: "Could not log into Planning "Detail:Could not log in to Planning Server".
Can anyone help me out. I am not being able to view the rules in the planning UI (and consequently cannot attach them to Forms)
    Thanks
    Sayantan
    PS:
Hyperion Version: 11.1.1.1 deployed to Tomcat (default) on Windows XP box

Question already asked here :- Cannot select Planning outline in Business Rules

  • Error in Data Transfer : From CO-PA to SOP Flexible Planning

    Hi Friends
I am working on a Scenario of Transferring CO-PA data to Flexible Planning, I am encountering few problems, I have done the followig steps, request you to check and get back to me..
    The following configuration steps are done with Example;
    Characteristic assignment
    u2022 Sales Organization
    u2022 Region
    u2022 Plant
    u2022 Material Number
    u2022 Material Group
    Key figure(s) assignment
    u2022 Sales Quantity
Assignment: Information structure - operating concern
    S555 u2013 Z001
    Define activities Z1
    Mass Processing Job : ZSO-PA
We are able to transfer data from CO-PA to standard SOP, But we tried for transfer to Flexible Planning SOP by creating Mass Processing Job setting as below configuration path.
    Production -> Sales & Operations Planning (SOP) ->Functions -> Mass Processing -> Transfer LIS / CO-PA
After executing Job MC8G - Schedule, we checked in Tcode - MC8I u2013 Check, Status: Processed with errors, And also data are not displayed in Tcode : MC95 for Material & active version.
We couldnu2019t find log for error status.
What is the method / Procedure for transfer data to Flexible Planning SOP?
    Please get back to me.

    Dear,
    Status:            Processed with errors ok
Activities checked:? what is the error message here like
       COPY
Planning type in activity and job not identical
           Planning type of job:  SOPKAPAM
           Plng. type of activity:Z004PLAN
When checking a mass processing job in SOP/flexible planning (Transaction MC8I), in the log error message "Activity and COPA profile have different planning versions?
Or planned/actual indicator in the COPA profile?
    Version should be        A00
Please check the MC8S. Then an Avtivity in MC8T
after you create the job in MC8D with the acitivity you have defined for your info structure.
After that check in MD62 for plan value.

  • Look Here - How to install Leopard on G5s

I have had all of the issues... source media bad, voiceover thing not verifiable - in fact the Leopard installation process has been terribly problematic at all levels... and I have had no success - until now.
I received a hint from a comment at the Apple Store Bar thing... The guy said it was bad memory. But this is in itself a bit suspicious... I mean define "bad".
First the memory is all Apple certified etc. It has been running in my G5 since day 3 of getting the Tower. I have two utilities - one supplied by Apple Care - reporting the memory is good... so "bad" might mean it is being declared bad by something in the installer. Especially because of the following tests:
Memory testing application says memory "Passed" all of the tests
Deleted drives, repartitioned etc... and in each case below I completely repartitioned etc.
Installed 10.3 from cd - no issues
    Stared over
Installed 10.4 from cd - no issues
    Started over
Installed 10.5 from DVD - fails with media error - after verify good and 4.6 gigs of install
    Start over
Installed 10.5 from FW HD copy of DVD - fails with media error - after verify, and several disk checks etc. and 4.6 gigs of install
Removed one of my hard drives
    Start over
Installed 10.5 - fails at a different point, but in the same manner
Remove 4 of 4.5 gigs of RAM
    Start over
Installed 10.5 from DVD - Success! But it took almost twice as long!
So it looks like the RAM really is bad... I mean it is "bad" to the 10.5 installer process. It is good everywhere else. And of course, even before the very first reboot for the new OS, I stopped it from re-powering up and I reinstalled all of the RAM... runs like a champ... and it likes my "bad" memory.
But now I want this running on the hardware configuration I want and that Apple says is supported... I want it on a stripped RAID set. Here is the plan!
Currently making a sparse image, of the successful 10.5 install volume, via CCC and placing it on a FW 800 drive.
Next I will make a sparse image of my good and current 10.4 RAID for backup
Then Recreate the RAID via 10.5 DVD boot
Then put G5 in target disk mode
Use my MBP and CCC to copy the sparse image of the good 10.5 on the FW 800 over the newly created RAID set.
    That is the plan anyway...
I know many people are looking to their cd/dvd drives as the issue. But if that were the issue, then install from a FW Drive would work... and ti does not... in fact it files the exact same way...
Therefore, we are looking to an IO issue. Possibly a bus or channel lane thingy thing issue... but IO, not HD.
And by the way, it looks like having multiple drives present during the install can be an issue...
    Good luck.

Well, I certainly hope the posts have helped... I get a great deal of help here in the forums and it is good to be able to provide some back...
To be clear, I obviously do not think the RAM is bad. Also, I think my DVD reader is just fine since once I removed the RAM, it was from that DVD reader I installed Leopard. I also do not think Leopard is "broken" other than I think the installer has some refinement issues.
By digging through the posts it seems, to me anyway, that what is causing these issues is a "Tolerance" issue. I do not mean this too technically but think of it this way...
What if the applications Apple is leveraging for the install process perform some function that requires memory to have some spec that is, making up numbers here, 1.341201 - but most RAM only reports to 4 decimal places? Then the RAM is bad to the installer. But not bad elsewhere...
Don't get hung up in the details of my example, just think of the broader idea in the example.
Same thing for DVD players, hard drives, etc. This would fit with Apples tight control on hardware. This is not necessarily a "bad" thing... even if it does cause all these issues.
I am willing to guess that a good number of the people reporting issues here have one of the following environments:
Hardware NOT supplied directly by Apple
Software, not supplied by Apple, running while upgrading
    Both
But I an not blaming the user either. You definitly should be able to have those things.
I intend to experiment with my Leopard installs. My next test is to remove the RAM again and put in non-apple hard drives in a RAID 0 configuration. My guess is it will fail. I guess this because one thing I noted in all my dealings with this install process is... Speed = failure. Slowing the machine down lead to the failures taking place at a further point in the instal [ignore actual duration]. And this makes me think my DVD reader cannot IO with my RAM without timing issues... Is that a bad DVD player? Or DVD? Or RAM, or BUS? I think not but only because once it actually gets installed it runs fine, although the Dock and other animations are a bit jerky - but so am I
So it is tolerances... I guess.

  • Affect of a new planning level selection

    Hi,
we have a BW-BPS environment with lots of BPS functionalities, palnning sequenses, save, copy functions...
Until now we have all products from SAP R/3 extracted.
Newly there are now in SAP R/3 lots of small products. Planning people donu2019t want to see and plan all products in planning layouts. They want to see to plan only the "important products".
    The following solution is thought.
we will create a product hierachie with 2 hierarchie node: "important products" and "small products".
the hier. node u201Cimportant productsu201D should be used in all planning levels in selections.
How can it (selection in planning level) affect the current planning functions ?
    What would you suggest here?

    Hi,
Planning functions are assigned to just one planning level. So if you have planned to restrict the values using Hierarchy at planning level, then the underlying functions will apply only to that hierarchy members.

  • Understanding the COST column of an explain plan

    Hello,
I executed the following query, and obtained the corresponding explain plan:
    select * from isis.clas_rost where cour_off_# = 28
    Description COST Cardinality Bytes
    SELECT STATEMENT, GOAL = FIRST_ROWS               2     10     1540
TABLE ACCESS BY INDEX ROWID     ISIS     CLAS_ROST     2     10     1540
    INDEX RANGE SCAN     ISIS     CLAS_ROST_N2     1 10
I don't understand how these cost values add up. What is the significance of the cost in each row of the explain plan output?
By comparison, here is another plan output for the following query:
    select * from isis.clas_rost where clas_rost_# = 28
    Description COST Cardinality Bytes
    SELECT STATEMENT, GOAL = FIRST_ROWS               1     1     154
TABLE ACCESS BY INDEX ROWID     ISIS     CLAS_ROST     1     1     154
    INDEX UNIQUE SCAN     ISIS     CLAS_ROST_U1     1 1
    Thanks!

For the most part, you probably want to ignore the cost column. The cardinality column is generally what you want to pay attention to.
Ideally, the cost column is Oracle's estimate of the amount of work that will be required to execute a query. It is a unitless value that attempts to combine the cost of I/O and CPU (depending on the Oracle version and whether CPU costing is enabled) and to scale physical and logical I/O appropriately). As a unitless number, it doesn't really relate to something "real" like the expected number of buffer gets. It is also determined in part by initialization parameters, session settings, system statistics, etc. that may artificially increase or decrease the cost of certain operations.
Beyond that, however, cost is problematic because it is only as accurate as the optimizer's estimates. If the optimizer's estimates are accurate, that implies that the cost is reasonably representative (in the sense that a query with a cost of 200 will run in less time than a query with a cost of 20000). But if you're looking at a query plan, it's generally because you believe there may be a problem which means that you are inherently suspicious that some of the optimizer's estimates are incorrect. If that's the case, you should generally distrust the cost.
