Here's something curious...

I was running 4.1 the otherday and managed to have two 'compressord' at the same time on my 2012 MacMini (i7), this was giving me about 55% CPU usage. So today I tried it again, only one instance of compressord running. Then I had a thought, what if FCP7 was stealing an instance? I quite FCP and now it's back to two instances. Still not good enough for my work, but better than nothing.

I didn't notice the note behind the for loop until I already uploaded the video, and it looks like that is the cause- I gues this behavior is just due to LV realizing that the note is within the user defined size of the disabled struc I was dropping... So could I say it grabs the for loop as well just because it's on a "layer" between the disabled struc and the note?
thanks

  • Hi, here's something for the more experienced to ponder.

Hi, here's something for the more experienced to ponder.
As of the past week or two my service has been taking nose dives periodically.
The telephone service has also been affected. (noise and static like squeals)
This is not a new problem, it has been ongoing for three years.
I have repeatedly asked for a new pair (copper) to no avail.
We went the route of replacement modems, data rate changes, Verizon presidential appeals and the problem "seems" to correct itself with cooler weather in the fall.
I called repair service for the telephone just Friday and met with an understanding person on Verizon's end. She heard the noise on the line and listened patiently to my internet troubles. She assured me that she could schedule someone to fix the problem on Saturday, 6/16/2012 I thanked her and let it go for Friday.
This morning at about 9:00 AM I got a call from a Verizon representative, not about the  problem, but rather about how the representative at repair service handled the call. I said the call handling was a ten on their scale. But when the question was asked about if I would recommend Verizon to someone, I had to ask that it could be repeated because of the noise on the line.
It's pretty obvious that I didn't give a good mark as the answer to that question.
But to the technical side of this to get people to ponder on this, here's my PRESENT Transceiver Statistics, copy and pasted for you to ponder....
    Transceiver Statistics
    Transceiver Revision     A2pB020b3.d20h
    Vendor ID Code               4D54
    Line Mode                        ADSL_2plus
    Data Path                         FAST
Transceiver Information    Down Stream Path    Up Stream Path
    DSL Speed (Kbits/Sec)                    358                         747
    Margin (dB)                                     16.0                         9.9
    Line Attenuation (dB)                      62.5                        38.3
    Transmit Power (dBm)                    15.5                         12.4
( NO EDITING WAS DONE TO THE NUMBERS ABOVE, Formatting was done, adding spaces, to attempt to make it clearer to read. )
I did not make any rude or crude remarks, because I think I may be on a watch list as my last two messages were edited and then deleted. But the bottom line is that I am not a "happy camper".
Further food for thought; my filter is located in the demarcation box, from there to the modem is a home run with approved wire. An additional filter is installed after the "voice line" comes into the house from the demarcation box for the whole house.
Line to the pole is new, maybe three pair, I don't remember. Distance to the central office is about two miles, BUT there is some sort of device installed in the lines between here and there, according to what was said by previous repair personnel.
This is the third year with these problems.
    Any thoughts?, anyone?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Thanks Mr. Smith,
I'll try and get back in after the dust settles and let you know how it goes.
    If I can't, thanks again!
    Gerry

  • I have a feeling this has been up here a lot.  I updated ios 6 to my phone with no problems but I also back my phone up.  I decided to help the wife out and update hers and something went wrong data lost.  All contacts, photos, etc without backup, help.

I have a feeling this has been up here a lot.  I updated ios 6 to my phone (4S) with no problems but I also back my phone up.  I decided to help the wife out and update hers and something went wrong data lost.  All contacts, photos, etc without backup, help.

if you have no back up in icloud or itunes the best you can do is sync with your computer and get back  what you can from there

  • So here's something strange

All right. Perhaps I'm just being paranoid but I swear this is how it's happening. When my PC is on, the Wi-Fi to the iPad works totally fine. Connection is good, fast, never disconnects. But if I put my PC to sleep, it seems like the connection to the iPad becomes insanely spotty. It will disconnect, and sometimes when I wake it from sleep (the iPad) not only will the connection be lost, but the password is forgotten and I'm not even able to enter it back in until I wake the PC from sleep mode again.
Am I completely insane here, or is there something to this? Because I swear that's what is happening. I waited a few days to post this just to be sure it wasn't a once or twice type occurrence. It's happened multiple times.

Hmmm I'm really not sure how to answer that. I mean I don't believe so...I'm not even sure how that would be done. I mean it does and can connect when the PC is sleeping, I just seem to notice that my connection issues only seem to happen while the PC is asleep. If it's on, the connection never seems to drop or have issues.

  • Here is something that worked for me instantly...IOS 6 upgrade...

ok guys just after trying everything for changing dates and all the steps that were mentioned I was soo hearbroked cuz nothing was woking for me...I was still unable to upate from itune store and even my facebook was not working after updating to IOS6...and here is what I did and everything started working fine...
First Facebook was not even working on Safari, so i deleted all the history and cookies
2ndly I went to settings-->WI-FI--->Clicked on the blue arrow on the right side of my connections SSID--->under DHCP-->HTTP Proxy--> should be "off"
and than I randomly clicked Manual and Auto, also clicked BOOT IP and STATIC, and everything started working again...I was able to download updates and facebook app is working fine...I am soooo happy....Hope it helps other too...

Did you back up all of your data, apps, etc. first?
Hope this helps many get back their ipad functionality.

  • Here's something cool to do, windows or mac nano

    ok.
start listening to a song, then click the middle button on the click wheel 3 times very fast, it will then either be on the rating or the album artwork
then click the middle button again and it wont go away for a few tries
    fun huh?!

Ah ha! I've been wondering about this for some time. Both my iPod Photo and iPod nano are synchronized manually. I kept wondering why the iPods would even let me rate the songs if it never went back into iTunes...
    Virtual +++ for you, Colin.

  • Here is something I like....

I love using the groups in Address Book. I have created a group called "Call Today" an dit gives me a quick list of everyone I need to well... Call Today. Then accessing that group and calling them is fast. Way more efficient than anything else I have used.

If you're away from your computer you can move contacts on your iPhone to your Favorites window and sort them in the Favorites window appropriately, effectively creating your own group via Favorites.
Another tip with Address Book is to create empty groups and sync to your iPhone in anticipation of adding contacts to the group when out and about with your iPhone.

  • JAR downloading

We had an application based on java applet. After every new deployment the version changes and it downloads the new jar on the client's PC. Out client has one server which has capability to push the required files on each configured client PC.
Proposal from client is to push the jar file and the index file to the user_profile folder of the user. The problem that I am facing is when java downloads the jars:
    - It decrypts the jar
    - The name of the jar is appended with some hex numbers.
    - It creates the index
I wanted to know the details about all the above three items. Can I explode the jar file in the required format/create index and then push to client's user_profile folder.
We are still doing experiments in order to understand the concept of this hex numbers.

    Here is something curious....
    http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/docs/guide/plugin/developer_guide/applet_caching.html#algorithm
    Known Issues
Caching of the .jar files specified in the manifest's Class-Path variable using Java Plug-in's cache is currently not supported.
The path specified in the cache_archive must be a relative URL to the applet's codebase. Full URLs are not supported in cache_archive.
    * If you get the "java.io.IOException: Caching not supported for ..." exception, this is because Java Plug-in was unable to get the expiration and last-modification dates for a given JAR file from the web server. If the Java Plug-in cannot get this information, there is no point in caching since the JAR file will be downloaded every time it is used. Even with this exception, however, the applet should work fine. This exception is merely informative.
Now I specify only the one jar in the archive section of the html, which contains a jar with the classpath to all the necessary jars in the manifest and and Index file as well.
Each new jar shows up in the java cache and the console itself refers to the jar in the cache....
    Reading certificates from 11 http://blahblahblah.jar | C:\Documents and Settings\dude\Application Data\Sun\Java\Deployment\cache\6.0\20\61ee19d4-232a6a61.idx
Is it possibly downloading the jar every time to the cache?

  • Why will my iPhone 4s not turn off?

Why will my iPhone 4s not turn off?

I may be experiencing a similar problem. My scenario is that the phone (4s) is 2 weeks old and won't power off. I hold down the button on the upper right for a few seconds, an option comes up to swipe to the right to "power off" the phone. I swipe this to the right and the phone powers off for only a few seconds and then automatically turns itself back on. This is a new problem for this phone. I was able to power it off previously, so I'm confident that it's not "pilot error". Here's something curious; if the phone is plugged into a wall charger it will power off and stay that way until disconnected from the outlet, even if the charger is still connected to the phone. I took this phone to an Apple store and the guy that helped me cleaned out the charging port claiming it was dirty and was successful at getting the phone to power off. However, by the next day the phone would not power off again. I found the dirty port thing a little curious while telling this story to a work mate and seeing his iPhones charging port clogged with plenty of visible dirt, lint and who knows what else, yet his phone works flawlessly. My charging port looks perfectly clean.

  • Why does my iphone 4s not turn off?

When i press the power down button and slide it to turn off it initially will power down, but then about 5 seconds later the phone will turn itself back on again. Why won't it stay off I tried holding the home button and it won't do anything. I don't want it to die by staying on all day and night when i'm not using it but i also don't want to deteriorate it by charging it too long. I was wondering if anyone had this same problem with the phone turning off but then turning itself on

I just got iphone 5c and i am not happy with it. It uses to much data and i don't even know how. I can't get the ringtones i want for my contacts.I got it on my free upgrade but i want to take it back and get something else but where i got it they say i can't because i don't have the earbuds and i have serches or them. now i am suck with a phone i don't like at all until my next upgrade. this is very dishearten

    1. If you are this unhappy with that phone, and the lost earbuds is the only thing stopping you from taking it back, why do not just buy some earbuds. That way you can get rid of that phone. It all depend upon how much you want to get rid of that phone.
    2. Yet if you are stuck with that iPhone, here is something might help you to control the data usage. By design, iPhones do turn off WiFi when they go dormant. So if a download is in progress and so forth when the phone goes dormant, it will switch to use cellular data, if this setting is left on. Therefore, from multi-sources I have learned that if you keep your iPhone connected to a power source, then it will stay connected to the available WiFi.

  • What burns me up about the Pixi (sprint)-If you can, help me out here

This is a half rant half 'I hope someone can help me out here with something I'm doing wrong' post, because my experience with this phone makes me want to smash it into a developers face. (Try not to take offence, it's just a thought, I am actually physically stuck with this phone)
    Messaging:
No time stamps for messaging? With my pending civil court case, it'd be nice to have this rudimentary gem that's been on every phone since 1998. But let's be honest...it's just nice to know when what was said. Awesome that I can save every message for 3 months. Blows that I can't figure out when it was sent.
    Missed Calls:
OK being that I actually like to think of my pixi as a phone first, then a "computer", I'd love to be able to sift through my missed calls on the red missed call alert bar. Since I'm too much of a, "let's get this done now" guy, I hate loading an app to get to my missed calls off of a little button on an already small interface. If I don't want to load the app, I have to click on the missed call alert bar, make my phone dial the number, end the call immediately, and continue untill I go through all of my missed calls (Yea I've done it before, I hate loading apps that bad). How about if you drag down on the missed call alert bar, it pulls the top one off and reveals the PREVIOUS missed call. (Holy ----! Am I a genius, or am I just someone who actually used this phone for more than 3 minutes?) Hopefully I can just sift through my calls on the messed call's red alert ball, but I've tried it every which way and I don't think I can...Help me out here.
SMS through missed call icon also only works when it wants to (software issue)
Airplane Mode: I accidentally put my phone into Airplane mode like twice a week. This blocks all calls and you just don't even know it's on until you notice the plane on the screen. Why is it so easy? Does palm not realize the consumer base that this phone makes it to probably uses an airplane once every year? I mean I've never even been on a plane and I got suckered into this thing, yet I feel like I should be able to have enough frequent flier miles to go around the world 6 times accoroding to how much I accidentally turn on Airplane Mode. Wth? Whose idea was that?
Facebook syncing: Seriously, who in their right mind wants every single one of heir FB friends on their phones? Certainly not me. Sorry I don't need to talk to all 400 people I've added from school. Best part is, once the syncing deed is done, you can't stop it. That's just brilliant. You spend an hour sycing your phone to FB, just to reset your contacts.
Ringtones: Text messaging ringtones literally plays for about 10 seconds and stop. Who on gods green earth told you that it'd be Ok to play any ringtone for like 10 seconds? Seriously...? PLEASE tell me I can change this. I can't even get through the intro of a song in 10 seconds. That's just great. May I add my ringer just seems to have shut off today. Why and when, I don't know. But my ringer is on, turned up, and I'm just getting text messages and calls as I type this with no sounds. lol Seriously. I'm not even kidding. I don't know how to make the alert sound. That's absurd. lol Like really I'm laughing at how pitiful it is that this is what my phone does so I'll just type another lol to further express how much of a joke this phone is to me. lol
Contact Reminder: Now I'm not sure what I'm doing. But pretty often, when trying to hurriedly dial a number, I accidentally hit contact reminder, load a new app. Meanwhile I have to get rid of the app and get to my phone. Now here's the kicker...I did it "hurriedly"(yea I make up words when I need to) which means I'm in a rush. Thx for not helping whatever situation I'd be in/have been in, Palm...You're supposed to work with me, not against me. :\
Calendar: Awesome app. I actually bought this phone for its uses here. But I'm not sure if it's just me, or the phone, but I can't even have this thing remind me to take out the trash every WEDNESDAY. From what I can tell, I can only do reoccuring reminders by date, and not by day. Seriously? If I'm not missing something here and that is the case, you've completely failed your name Palm. Just saying, I mean jeez...
Youtube: Now really. You almost outdid yourself with the youtube app. You could have made me forget of all of this phones shortcomings had you not just screwed up here too. Now I don't know who you have agreements with, but since I can't actually get the same vids I'd normally get on the computer (for example, music videos) to come up in my search, you've essentially turned youtube, "you"sless. Now that actually takes more effort in screwing up than not. This thing right here just makes me think you're trying to get me mad.
Small keys:Won't even touch on that subject, I should have noticed from the get go. I knew it, thought I'd get used to it, but no. They are just too small and that's that. Not even blaming palm for this one.
Palm taught me 2 things with this phone.
1: Never buy from palm again, we just don't seem to agree on what a phone should do. I had great expectations in the Palm name, only to find out that I'm going to be enraged by the phone daily.
2olidification in the notion that "if it's too good to be true, it probably is." Because that's exactly what I got out of the experience with this phone.
So unless someone can set my problems straight, I'm going to be looking foward to my next upgrade like it's the last day of school for a 12 year old. At least life won't continue speeding by as long as I have this thing. I guess that's one bonus. :\
The worst part is this is all that I can think of sitting here. I can probably edit this throughout any given day to make it into a small book. Which I would try to publish if I'm not flat out wrong about at least half of these "problems". Because if so...this phone should have never hit the market. No offense. Like I said, I actually have to use this phone. Palm just gets more money out of it.
Thx if you read, and thx if you help me out. I hope someone tells me what I'm doing wrong and makes me look like a complete idiot. This is your chance, defend palm!
Post relates to: Pixi p120eww (Sprint)

    Hi ChrisBell,
my Pixi shows me the missed calls in a list of its own? I don't have many, so maybe I'm missing something. But I agree with your half-ranting to some degree. As a long-time Palm-user (my last phone was a Treo 680, terrible form factor, good UI), I am really disappointed with the standard software on this phone. Memos and Tasks, which AFAIK were there and useful even on the first Newton's, have regressed beyond the point of usefulness now (solution: Toodledo and Done!, at least for now).
But ChrisBell: if you feel up for it, you could start tinkering. Many people love these phones so much they have started developing patches to solve the obvious problems skimmed over by developers. Try looking up "webosquickinstall" and "preware", and you will find over 300 patches and a lot of free software to help you out. I am not a computer wizard myself, but I am not scared of them either, and I have been able to make good use of all these extras made available by the community.
just a thought, might help you out on a few of your half-rants

  • Apple doesn't feel like responding, so I'll post this here.

Pre-note: This is actually a series of emails between customer support and I, but I emailed them back about a week ago and they haven't responded since, so I'm seeking a little help here. Please be patient and do read the whole thing, I tried to make it as clear as possible. You'll first read my first email I sent to them, then their response, then my latest response that I havent gotten a response to. Hopefully you'll understand my situation
    My original email:
Ever since downloading 7.4.3 I could not connect to the iTunes store due to iTunes error 11333. I found out the only fix was to download 7.5. However downloading 7.5 corrupts my audio drive for some reason, and that matter I'd rather not get into unless you can provide me a clear solution for the problem, because of possible similar problems other users may have experienced (but none that I have seen browsing the forums -- which I myself asked for help with this issue, but to no avail). With 7.5 I CAN connect to the store, but cannot hear anything from my computer as nothing will sound. So I just quick-restored to when I had 7.4.3, reinstalled Quicktime, and sound was fixed but store connection was not. (by the way -- reinstalling Quicktime with 7.5 did not help with the sound problem)
Anyway, BACK to the matter at hand, now that you have a little back-story... I've been waiting for an update for 7.5 since...mid-November? It's been a little over two months now, I believe. Isn't that a little long? I mean, with 7.4 and previous versions, it seemed as if updates came out every couple weeks or so. I realize that there are numerous problems with 7.5 that need to be dealt with, but I am getting kind of impatient now. I have a nice gift card I'd love to spend but cannot. So, give me an estimate, about how long do you think I and all the other frustrated customers will be waiting for an update?
    Their Response:
I understand that you would like to know when an update for iTunes 7.5 will become available because you are unable to connect to the iTunes Store. My name is Nick and I'll be happy to help you.
Thank you for your inquiry. I'm sorry, but I cannot comment about such matters on behalf of the iTunes Store. Apple makes its company news available to the public through numerous channels, such as these:

    My Response:
Hello again, sorry for the long wait. No, sadly nothing has been fixed. I decided to just give up for the time being, but I've honestly had enough of not having sound on my computer, it's completely ridiculous. iTunes 7.6 did NOT help with the situation (read below), and neither did your suggestions, sorry to say. Updating to 7.6 caused the same errors, and will probably continue to do so with the next updates.
I was reading around the Internet and not many people could help, but I did get one suggestion that said I could try uninstalling and then re-installing iTunes. So, I tried this, but it did not help. Please help me with this situation, frankly I'm sick of not being able to hear anything from my computer.
For more info on my situation that needs fixing, read at the bottom[sic] (actually the top in this thread), and disregard the "when will you update 7.5?" question. I just want to know how to fix my audio configuration problem.

Hm, I don't know if you've tried this but it's worth a shot. I had a speaker problem a few months ago, though it was not caused by iTunes, it was because of a Windows Update, but this might help. I'm running Vista, so it might be a little different but try this.
Control Panel>> Hardware and Sound>> Sound
Try clicking the sound button OR the Manage Audio Devices and a window will pop up saying there is something wrong with the Driver and you can repair it. Click yes, and it should fix the problem. This is after you update iTunes of course, while you are having audio problems. Sorry if it's different in XP, but it's worth a shot.
Thanks for the suggestion! But unfortunately, XP has no such options...
However, in the control panel there is an option called "Sounds and Audio Devices." When I click on it, it says there is no audio device. There is also another option in the control panel, called NVIDIA nForce Control Panel, whereupon clicking I get the message, "Failed to initialize NVIDIA audio driver! Please install and try again."
!!! Oh the frustration. The only way to fix this problem is to quick-restore to when I had 7.4.3 iTunes, which was over two months ago now, and then uninstall and then re-install Quicktime. However doing this will cause me to not be able to even access iTunes, as my library is updated. So I really only want to use this option as a last resort.
Here's something else I did awhile ago with the suggestion of someone else, not sure of its importance but it might just help. I right-clicked "My Computer" and clicked "Manage". I then clicked the tab "Device Manager." Under this option were a number of devices, among them the NVIDIA(R) nForce Audio Device and the SM Bus Controller, both under "Other Devices". Both of these have a little icon next to them that consists of a yellow question mark (?) and exclamation mark , so it doesn't look good.
Just now I right-clicked my audio device option and opened up Properties, and it said:
This device is not configured correctly. (Code 1)
To reinstall the drivers for this device, click Reinstall Driver.
Should I go ahead and follow those instructions? Same instructions for the SM Bus Controller (whatever the HECK that is).
    Suggestions?
    Thanks for all the help.

  • Two boots for OS? (Something about kernel)

I have the latest generation Mac Pro with customized built, 1x 3.33gHz 6-core and 8 Gig of RAM.
Here's something strange happened to me lately... about two weeks ago, the OS X will not load during the first boot. I have mine set at verbose mode so I can see the messages and usually from a cold boot, it will mention something like kernelcache is out of date and the kernal loading is now stopped. It will automatically reboot and then everything went fine as the OS loads up fairly quickly.
Does anyone has any idea on this? I have resetted the SMB/EFI by power cycle but still doing the same.
    Thanks guys!
It's not a problem, just annoying

There are a couple hundred kernel extensions. Loading them individually takes too long. So they are put together into a kernel cache and loaded "all at once".
If the timestamp on the kernel cache disagrees with the timestamp on the directory that holds the individual extensions, something has changed -- start over.
If you boot into Safe Mode, this will do one pass of Disk Repair and also cause the loading of a minimal set of extensions. The next time you boot, the kernel cache will be rebuilt properly, and you should live happily ever after... maybe.
If you are booting 10.7 off a RAID Array not created under 10.7, you may continue to be in for a wild ride. Anomalies with installing onto and booting off a RAID Array are all over the early reviews of 10.7.
Consider going back to 10.6, or creating a "normal" boot drive with only System, Applications, Library, and the Hidden Unix files including paging/swap. Move all User files off to another drive except the original Admin user, and use that one only for Administration.
