In the words of the famous fictitious spy series protagonist, James Bond, "Always have a backup plan." That is true regardless of what computer you have, anytime you install anything new, you should have at least two backups present. They can be printed or digital, but the point is, you don't have to recreate anything from scratch. 10.6.7, like any update is there to improve or add features of an operating system. It is not there to fix pre-existing conditions that make a system slow, or inoperable. If your system is unhealthy, backup, or use data recovery, and then ask for help here how to solve your problem. Make sure all your software and hardware is known to work with the update before applying it. Ask here if uncertain first. And remember updates don't kill anything, they only shed light on hardware or software that may already be marginal because they are sensitive to that.

What gets me is the number people that depend on their computers for business
and have no backup and no alternative means to continue working. As cheap
as hard drives are these days, there is really no excuse. Especially with OSX when
you can clone a hard drive and then just reboot externally. Then they cry when
something breaks with some/any upgrade and how much time they lost.
I know its a real bummer when it happens, but s**t happens so you need to be prepared.
As for me, I don't install any sort of updates when I am in the middle of a
very important project. When I do an update of any sort, I do the usual permission
repair, disk check and repair if needed, and then do an incremental clone to
an external drive, then I install the updates. This way if something does get trashed,
I can reboot to the external drive and if I am on some time constraint, continue working
with that until I can fix the problem, or I can just unconditionally clone the external
back to the internal.

iTunes has to contact Apple to send your agreement to the new conditions, but your security software has to allow this contact. If blocked, you'll get a time out message. My daughter forget her password and now her ipod touch is disabled. Red message says to connect to itunes. When I do connect to itunes, the device is not recognized and then a message comes on the screen that says it is locked and to enter the password to access it. I cannot access the password and since itunes does not recognize the device, it does not come up on the list on the left, i cannot reset it. What do I need to do so she can use her ipod touch again? Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

If you have an iPad 1, the max iOS is 5.1.1. For newer iPads, the current iOS is 6.1.3. The Settings>General>Software Update only appears if you have iOS 5.0 or higher currently installed.

I'm having trouble transferring the songs on my ipod to my HP computer. Everytime i authorize the computer to allow the songs to go on, it doesn't do anything. Then I authorize it again and still nothing has changed. Any suggestions?

Here we go again. Same old problem with FF updates. FF9.x.x will not allow clickable internet links. They are dead when typed. ALL IE versions have clickable links BUILT IN! Why can't you do it??? Hi,
i am doing one POC for one of the customer. where I have Dummy Domain and I have installed Lync 2013 server std edition and Lync wac server. now i am able to login from workgroup machine via lync 2010 and lync 2013 aslo.
But when I am trying to login from Customer productuion domain machine Lync client login fails but from same machine lync 2010 client is able to login without any issue. when i am trying to login through lync 2013 i am getting this error message.
"Sign-in didn't
work. You didn't get signed in. It might be your sign-in address or logon credentials, so try again. If that doesn't work, contact your support team"

I'm on my iPod touch 4th generation and I wanna delete apps. Well I hold it down nd the X appears but as soon as I press the X it doesn't do anything for a little bit and then shuts down and turns on again by itself, HELP ME DELETE!
Try:

It sounds like you could be having an issue with one of the microphones on your iPhone 5. Your iPhone 5 has three microphones that function together and separately, depending on what is using them.

Hold down on the sleep button and the home button at the same time for about 10 seconds until the Apple logo appears on the screen. Ignore the red slider. When the logo appears let go of the buttons.

MSI 970a-g46 motherboard starts up but doesn't display anything.
Hello, I'm having problems with a new motherboard I got from Amazon, specifically the 970a-g46. The following are my specs in use with this motherboard:
CPU: AMD Phenom 2 x4 965
GPU: nVidia GeForce 560 GTX
Ram: 8gb Kingston HyperX Fury 1866mhz.
PSU: Corsair 650TX (650 Watts)
Compatability-wise, everything checks out so I wasn't expecting problems at first. All the other parts excluding the ram I've used before. Here's exactly what happens:
I power up the computer after everything is installed and connected. The 4 phase LEDs turn on which tell me the CPU is powered up and working (so I assume). I don't get any beeps or buzzs mainly because I don't see any speaker/buzzer on this board. The monitor blinks and while it is connected to my GPU, it doesn't display anything, it's just a black screen. I can leave it on for a few minutes and I'll still not see anything happen. An important observation here is that my keyboard which has LEDs will turn on after a short period of time in boot-up (with my older set-up that is). This does not happen ever regardless of how long I leave my computer on on this new mobo.
I've gone over and checked/tested numerous things:
* The PCI-E and ATX cables for the GPU, motherboard and CPU are all connected and secured (I've tried both 4-pin and 8-pin connections for the CPU, neither help).
* I've tried jumping the CMOS multiple times to no avail.
* I tested the ram on another computer and it worked just fine on that one.
* I've tested the motherboard without a GPU and it still does nothing (though I think that's because this motherboard doesnt have its own integrated GPU for some reason).
So far the only possible reasons why my computer is not working is because of my PSU (very unlikely as it's only a year old and it's a Corsair, which I've heard is very reliable in the long-run), GPU (It is quite a few years old but even without the GPU my computer still doesn't go past boot-up), CPU (possible due to its age and how many freaking time I've reseated it (probably around 8 times) so I wouldn't doubt it, but before I put it into this motherboard I did check its pins and they were all there and placed nice and smoothly into the socket.) and finally the motherboard (it's possible that this is just a defected motherboard and giving me a super hard time which would be a first in all the years I"ve spent computer building).
The best case scenario of course is me giving some kind of oversight to how I transferred over the parts and connectors. I might've missed something obvious to please any advice/insight on how I can solve this problem would be greatly appreciated
EDIT: Some other things I did but forgot to mention:
* Checked ground nut things and ensured they matched the specifications of the motherboard ATX; only 6 are under the board and each one is aligned up with the holes on the board as designed.
* Tried booting up without powering the CPU. Only one phase LED light came on, still the same problem (for an obvious reason this time now).
* Re-seated GPU multiple times, re-connected cables multiple times.
What I have NOT done is re-seat the CPU because I am almost out of acetone so I would need to get another supply of that which won't be until tomorrow. I also have not re-seated everything back on my older motherboard to check if it still works. Tomorrow I'll most likely do that and if I find that the old motherboard works flawlessly then that tells me that the new motherboard I got is either defected or there's some compatability issue I"m missed out on.
EDIT 2: Just found a speaker and plugged it into the motherboard. Booted it up and I got no beeps whatsoever. So this mobo is giving me no video activity (there is a signal it's just blank), and no beeps from the motherboard. I have no idea what that could mean at this point.
EDIT 3: I decided to test a few things with the new speaker I just got. First I removed ram and tried running, I got 3 beeps which I assume is the beep sequence of faulty/no ram. What's the serial number of your MB? Needed to determine what BIOS may be on the MB. Exactly which version of the CPU is it? There were several different 965 CPUs and they required different BIOS versions, 1.2, 1.9,2.2 depending on which CPU you actually have.
Also another problem may be that native memory supported by your CPU is DDR3-1333, not 1866
None of the supported CPUs have integrated graphics, any MB graphics would be in the chipset, not CPU. Examples would be 785G, 880G
Thank you very much rhradacut! The problem was that the mobo for whatever reason was forcing 1866mhz on my CPU when it only supported up to 1600mhz. I had to install a spare ddr3 module to downclock it so that I could access the BIOS and manually set the DRAM timing to 1600mhz for it to work. That's a very strange problem that I figured would've been auto-resolved by the hardware, and would also be a big problem if I didn't have any spare DDR3 ram to work with.

Windows XP ProI just had the same exact problem. It's like the Nano was forwarding thru the songs by itself..nothing would play!
So I went and looked at the manual, which suggested I try resetting it first. I did, and it worked! Here's what I did:
The manual instructed me to turn the "hold" switch on & off. Then it said to hold down the Menu and center button at the same time, until the Apple logo appeared. Then in a few moments the main screen came back on...and I was able to play songs again.
