Here we go, Premiere Elements 12, Questions?

Hi Guys.
I have PE 12 installed, I opened one of my videos, ran it in the preview window, and output it.
Everything worked great.
I like the interface, much cleaner, maybe too clean?
So here is the first question,  I started a new job, and imported some raw video I wanted to trim down.
Where it the scissors icon?
After about 10 minutes trying to figure out where it was I went to Help to see how to cut video, and it just says click on the scissors icon.
I don't see it anyplace and none of the menus, i.e. tools etc. seems to have anything to do with it.
Mike
Ps. Never mind, I finally saw the tiny icon on the red line going down from the track marker, my eyes aren't that great anymore. LOL

Mike,
The Elements Organizer 12 did have a "tendency" to crash on me every so often.
Two things you can try as indicated by the symptoms
a. As you hold down on the Ctrl+Alt+Shift (altogether), with the mouse cursor, left click and hold that click on the Organizer Tab at the bottom of the Expert workspace for 15 seconds. At the end of the 15 seconds, release just the left mouse click. You should see a pop up asking permission to delete the settings file. Click on Yes. Then release the hold down on the Ctrl+Alt+Shift.
b. If that alone does not take care of the Elements Organizer 12 crashing tendencies, create a new catalog and work from it. See Elements Organizer 12 workspace File Menu/Manage Catalogs and the Catalog Manager dialog that opens.
Between the a and b, these issues have disappeared for me.

  • Adobe Premiere Elements Collage Question

If this is the wrong place for this type of question please let me know.
My end goal is to use Adobe Premiere Elements 8 (or 9) to create a collage of images that appear on the screen.
What I want to happen is to have an image on the screen for a second, then spin and reduce in size to the background, only to have another image appear on the screen and repeate the process until you have a stack of images scattered across the background.
THe method I came up with was to have several background images, the first with one picture, the next with two pictures, etc with the background changing as each image spins into place.  The problem I've run into is that I can't seem to control the spin, nor make the images get smaller as they do spin.
Anyone have any idea of how to get this effect?

    Steve and Bill,
Thank you for your assistance so far.  Until you had mentioned "keyframing" I had never heard of it, but after doing some research into it, that looks exactly what I need to be doing.
Looks like it has a pretty steep learning curve, but after some trial and error (mostly struggling to understand that you had to set a keypoint at where you want the animiation to start rather than having Premiere read your mind) I'm starting to get the hang of it.
    Thank You,
    Scott

Has anyone used Adobe Premiere Elements and iMovie/iDVD to be able to make an objective comparison? It appears APE has the same feature content as iMovie/iDVD.
How well does APE run on your typical Core 2 Duo Windows laptop (1.6mhz)?
    Just curious.

  • Premiere Elements nine questions

Hi, i just downloaded elements9, and im new to adobe software and everytime i put a video into the section at the bottem, the video lags a lot and slows down the whole program, the file the videos are in are WMV, does it need another format? i dont know if this is something that'll pass or what but i'd love to get an answer soon,
also, while im still on here,
i looked threw the "Help" section for beginners, it's not exactly all that helpful, can someone send a video please on the basics of what im doing?
i can pick up on things easy but i need to know how to start all this from a new project and all the way to converting it to a file for youtube,

I would not recommend using WMVs as your source video. They'll bog the whole program down.
What kind of camcorder is your video coming from? There's probably a much more efficient workflow that won't require nearly so much rendering.
Meantime, if you're looking to learn this basics of this program, check out my free 8-part Basic Training tutorials at Premiere Elements support site Muvipix.com.
And, if you'd like more detailed, step-by-step instruction, you can check out my books.

  • Looking to purchase Premiere Elements, have question?

I found found several movie clips in .mov Quicktime of my grandson and since using other Adobe products looked here first and found Premiere Elements. Several of the clips are horizontal instead of vertical so need to be rotated. I also thought it might be nice to put them all together on a DVD. I looked over the site and cannot find if Premiere Elements supports .mov files?
    Thanks,
    Sherry

    Sherry,
You might want to try G-Spot with the .MOV files. It works great with .AVI's, most .MPEG's, and not quite so well with .MOV's and .WMV's. Still, there might be some info that would help.
In general, I have not had problems with most .MOV files. Adobe even ships these on DVD along with their "Premiere Classroom in a Book," series. However, a few have had an issue, or two, but that could be from not having a working version of QT on their computer, or similar.
Now, some of the later .MOV files seem to offer up more issues. Also, .MOV files that come from a Mac through Final Cut Pro (FCP), can use CODEC's, that just do not exist on a PC. I would *suspect* that PE will handle them fine, or if you have issues, it'll likely be something like the Audio being OOS (Out Of Sync), and that can usually be fixed easily. Your chances are better, if the files are a bit older, as they will not have some of the newer CODEC's that give any flavor of Premiere fits.
I'm not trying to sell you on something that will not work, but the chances are pretty good. Other than FCExpress, or Pro, on a Mac, I do not know of any NLE that is guaranteed to handle all .MOV files without issues.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Premiere elements 10 question

I recently purchased a Panasonic HDC-TM90 camcorder and want to buy an easy to use video editing program and I am interested in Premiere elements.
Can this program edit HD recordings? My computer is a dual core machine and I was not sure if there were any issues and if I should not record in HD if I wanted to edit it.
    Thanks,
    Steven

If the camera will ONLY shoot in one of the "p"(Progressive) formats, then I would look to Adobe PrPro CS 5.5, or perhaps another NLE program. There are some other good ones out there, but I cannot tell you which ones might be better, beyond the much more expensive PrPro. Cyberlink's PowerDirector, Magix MovieEdit Pro, and several versions of Sony's Vegas, all get good general reviews, but I don't know how any handles progressive Video files. Maybe others will have very specific recommendations for you.
Good luck, and enjoy the new camera,

  • Premiere Elements 9 Question

I just ordered Premiere Elements and I am wondering will it work with Windows XP? I do have Windows 7 on my Lap Top but I prefer to load this program on my desktop computer. Thanks.

    Heather,
    Welcome to the forum.
If you have XP with SP2, or higher, the OS meets the System Requirements.

  • Adobe Premiere Elements 8 question

Hi, I have a problem I have not found the answer to.
I have used my program for over a year now and I just love it,  and have not had one bit of problems. All of a sudden it has stopped working the same way. I am trying to create a movie on DVD and when I open the program the screen doesn't look the way it did when I use to use it, it only has a play screen, and not a screan where I can creat the movie. I ever tried re-installing the program
I have a HP Pavilion Elite e9220y PC, with a
    AMD Phenom llX4910 prosser
    8GB DDR3 system memory
    1 TB hard drive.
The only thing I have change is added new software for my new handycam, Sony HDR-CX150, and I must say it did change some things in my photo department, but why would it have changed my video program for Adobe? and how can I get things back to normal?
Any help would be greatly appericiated, I need this program to work, I do the video for my church and I make DVD's .
    Thanks again.....Mercysilver

    >why would it have changed my video program for Adobe?
Most likely by installing a new(er?) video codec
Reset Preferences = Press/HOLD Ctrl+Alt+Shift while starting program... which sometimes clears "odd" problems

I purchased Adobe photoshop elements II and Adobe premiere elements II. They are both on one disc. My computer crasded and I had to reload Windows. I only have one serial number and it only works with photoshop II. The same serial number will not work for Premiere. I dont have any other serial numbers. What do I do???

    Static_Unit
I am getting a bit concerned about what is happening in your situation. Yesterday you posted your question in at least two different forums, one of them being here in the Premiere Elements Forum.
Don't Have Serial Number for Premiere, Only Photoshop?
Wherever you posted, the reply was to contact Adobe via its Adobe Chat. It is the only one who can sort out this matter for you.
In the thread cited above I offered to help you with the difficulties that you were having visualizing the Adobe Chat in its web page. I was waiting for your follow up on that in the above thread. Instead, I find your same question in a new Adobe Premiere Elements Forum thread this afternoon with no refer the prior threads or prior recommendations given you.
I will also mention again...when you buy the Photoshop Elements and Premiere Elements bundled in one packaging and with installation files for each on the same installation disc, each program has its own serial number. The Photoshop Elements serial number does not work for Premiere Elements and vice versa. The serial numbers are on labels on a box which houses the installation disc envelope(s). So, if you purchased both programs and found the Photoshop Elements serial number, then the Premiere Elements serial number should be in a label right underneath the label with the serial number for Photoshop Elements. I recall writing this in your yesterday's thread on this matter.
The moderator will no doubt be along shortly to close or delete this thread. So, just in case, please bookmark your yesterday's thread cited above so that we can continue this communication which is trying to help you.
    Thanks.

  • Premiere Elements 12 Coming "Soon" ???

PC World has a 9-23-13 review of Photoshop Elements 12... which should mean that both it and Premiere Elements 12 will be released "soon"
    http://www.pcworld.com/article/2049093/photoshop-elements-12-review-mobile-albums-and-cont ent-aware-tools-dominate-new-release.html

    Pete Green
I need your help in sorting through some confusion regarding Photoshop Elements as a 64 bit versus a 32 bit application.
And, I have read your helpful FAQ in the Photoshop Elements Forum here on Photoshop Elements 12
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1302663?tstart=0
But, your FAQ does not seem to go to that point.
One might question why I question you here in the Premiere Elements Forum instead of the Photoshop Elements Forum. Because of the integration between the two, I feel comfortable in asking here and we may be dealing with a new feature in the now current version.
I have found my answer for 1/2 the equation. When I downloaded and installed Photoshop Elements 12 on Windows 7 64 bit and used Process Explorer Sysinternals, Photoshop Elements 12 was shown to be a 32 bit application running in my Windows 7 64 bit computer (presumed in a 32 bit compatibility mode); whereas, Premiere Elements 12 on that operating system was classed as 64 bit as would be expected. There are some reports out there that would indicate that Photoshop Elements 12 Mac is a genuine 64 bit application on Mac 64 bit. Is that correct? Or is the Tech Spec just saying that Photoshop Elements 12 is compatible with/requires 64 bit Mac rather than saying that Photoshop Elements 12 is a 64 bit application when running in 64 bit Mac?
I will sneak in one related question if I might. Is Photoshop Elements 12 and some other earlier versions set up to have multiple .exe files so that the program gains a sort of 64 bit perk via virtual memory?
Thanks for whatever information you can share on this.

  • Premiere elements 9: editing of Projects not possible

I bougth a laptop with adobe premiere elements 9 installed. It worked very well until a crash of the hard drive.
I baught a new hard drive and installed all software on the new drive. Premiere elements 9 was insalled without any failure. It can be opened but I can not edit or create any project. Most of the menue items are shown gayed.
    Can anyboy help?

    rreekkuu
This is what I would like you to do to troubleshoot this issue....
Make sure that the issue exists with and without the antivirus and firewall(s) disabled. Then if that did not help...
Uninstall Premiere Elements 9 via the usual Control Panel route.
Do a free ccleaner run through (regular cleaner and registry cleaner parts)
    https://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download
Reinstall the program with antivirus and firewall(s) disabled.
    Keep the program closed.
Download and install the 9.0.1 Update (Premiere Elements 9 remains closed while this is going on.)
Adobe - Premiere Elements : For Windows : Premiere Elements 9.0.1 update
Reopen Premiere Elements 9.0/9.0.1, and open a new project in the Timeline workspace. So far so good or not? Hopefully, OK, but if not OK....
Delete the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file, and, if necessary, the whole 9.0 Folder in which the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file exists.
    Local Disk C
    Users
    Owner
    AppData
    Roaming
    Adobe
    Premiere Elements
    9.0
and in the 9.0 Folder is the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file that you delete. If that does not work, then you delete the whole 9.0 Folder in which the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file exists. Be sure to be working with Folder Option Show Hidden Files, Folders, and Drives active so that you can see the complete path cited.
If is not going to help the present situation (that is just trying to install), but your 6 GB installed RAM is not a factor here since that Premiere Elements 9 or 9.0.1 is a 32 bit application running in a 32 or 64 bit application and as such has all the limitations of 32 bit system - maximum supported installed RAM = 4 GB of which typically 3.2 to 3.0 GB of that are available.
Please review and consider. Any questions or need clarification, please do not hesitate to ask.
    Thanks.

  • Time stretch has stopped working in Premiere Elements 13.

I've downloaded the latest Adobe updates. I am using a Windows 8 64 bit computer. I have previously (in the last few weeks) used time stretch to speed up and slow down without any problems but now I can't get it to work in any of my projects. All video files shot with an iPod Touch or iPhone. Has anyone else had this problem? Any ideas on how to fix it?

    Chris
As a point of reference for your Premiere Elements 13 question, I have a iPod Touch 4th generation (H.264.mov 1280 x 720 @ 24 progressive frames per second), and I have no problems using Time Stretch or Time Remapping in a 13/13.1 project or other versions.
I would invoke the interference of a possible variable frame rate rather than a constant one involved with your particular type of video (from iPod or iPhone) and Time Stretch, but I am not having any problem with my iPod Touch video (with minimal variable frame rate) and Time Stretch in Premiere Elements. If you want to explore that idea further, you could convert your video's variable frame into a constant one using the free HandBrake program. Then import HandBrake's  H.264.mp4 export into your Premiere Elements 13/13.1 project and determine if you can then apply Time Stretch to that clip.
Have you applied the Shake Stabilizer to your clip before trying to apply the Time Stretch? For that matter, what effects, if any, have you applied to your video clip before trying to apply Time Stretch to it?
All of the above is based on Time Stretch no working for you in a new project with new source media.

  • Premiere Elements will not open

I have been using Premiere Elements 11 for some time. It has been working fine. Recently, it won't open. There is a message which says to uninstall and reinstall he product. I have done that. No help. The message says to contact Adobe support and mention Error:1 Can you help?

    Pekin Grey
Here is an Premiere Elements 12 Error 1 story with a happy ending. Please check it out and see if any of it works for you with your Premiere Elements 11 problem. At this point, I do not think that product licensing has anything to do with your issue, but time will tell.
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/6124261#6124261
In the above link the user sought alternative installation files and that worked to resolve the issue as described in the link.
If you were to follow that approach, you could download Premiere Elements 11 tryout files from the following link and then insert your purchased Premiere Elements 11 serial number in it.
    http://prodesigntools.com/photoshop-elements-11-direct-download-links-pse-premiere-pre.htm l
The above web site offers the tryouts of some earlier versions but does not sell them.
For this to work for you, you must read very carefully the Note: Very Important Instructions at that web site. Otherwise you will be greeted by Access Denied.
Please consider and then let us know the outcome.
    Thank you.

Add On...I forgot to ask. Are you working from installation files purchased from Adobe or from a purchased installation disc that came with boxed packaging of the product? If the former, you could always get another download of the product at "My Orders" or "My Products" at Adobe.

  • After reinstalling adobe photoshop elements and premiere elements 10, there were some features missing

So the problem is just with Premiere Elements, not PSE? You should ask over in the Premiere Elements forum, since very few of us here use PRE:

  • About that damaged Premiere Elements 0.9 project of mine + a few questions....

First off, I should have posted this thread for a while ago, but stuff in life etc came in the the way and such. Anyway, remember that stupid damaged project of mine which kept on crashing my Adobe Premiere Elements 0.9 with a "Serious Error" message?. Well, that issue, as far as I can remember, never really got resolved. However, it sort of got resolved on it's own as I went further sideways instead of trying to go forward when I couldn't. More clearly, even tough the project was damaged and kept crashing my Premiere Elements, I was still able to get out a WMV movie/video of the half-finnished project. Then I uploaded that video in that little test-project I did a time ago when troubleshooting about this. And in that test-project I continued from where I last was working on the half-finnished project. So far and up until the finnished results of the whole project and video, that newer project never ever crashed nor interrupted anything like the other, damaged project did. And now, for a while ago, that project I started on, which became damaged and started crashing, and by continuing on it on from a saved videoversion of it on a new project, it's all completely finnished and working very well. I still have that musicvideo (yes, it's a musicvideo project) saved as a WMV video file, still working and going smoothly and as I created it to be, all completely finnished. While I'm so happy with the ending results and that this all finally sorted out in the end, I am still kind of confused and also pretty nervous and worried about If this same crashing dilemma, like with that damaged project of mine, might happen again in the future... And If it does, what then? Is my Afobe Premiere Elements program then damaged forever? Will I be able to create new projects and work with them as I use to without any worry etc? Or is this project-crashing problem with that "Serious Error" message just some kind of random probem which may and can occur from time to time randomly? Is this just some kind of random thing that just sometimes occurs and is to walk by with creating a new project like I did? Or is this problem something to look out for worry about in the future?
I've double checked also, nothing is wrong with my computers speed, harddrive nor prestation etc, plus I'm using a PC for my videoprojects alongside with all my games. But I've heard that using too much videoeffects in a Adobe Premiere project, even in the latest version, may be too much for the project and thus it'll crash like my damaged project did.... But then again, this is just something I've heard. What do you guys think? Do you believe and know If using too many video effects in a Premiere Elements project, even the latest versions of the same program, could be too much for the project and thus causing it to crash and cause trouble etc? Or do you know of another theory of why a Adobe Premiere Element project just suddenly goes damaged and just goes crashing while a "Serious Error" message comes popping up? Why is things like this happening and what can be done to solve and fix it?
I know that I don't have any reason to ask for the moment as my problem sort of got resolved, but I'm still worried about my future projects I have in planned. Also, I'm thinking sort of forward and to the future here, and then all those Premiere Elements users who also may encounter this same problem....
Any advice, help and tipses by and from anyone on this issue and the questions I asked here is highly welcome and appreciated!
