Hermes 845GV-Lite - 2 ddr rams don't work

I have a Hermes 845GV-Lite and I have made sure I have the correct RAM ddr pc2100 266mz ddr sdram and I have bought 2 sets a 256 and a 512 both work indidually but together and windows crashes every time ... Both rams are kingston and both work fine when put in on there own but not together .... although the ram test at the begining of startup finds both chips..... What can I do to sort this out ???
Is it a windos problem?? Please help...
Thanks
Andrew Pincherle

I must say that MSI mobos are very sensitive when RAMs are mixed, especially when they are working under different RAM CAS timings. Check what is the similar timings between both RAMs and set your DDR Timings to that value. Try to increase your DDR Voltage to 2.7v also.
Next, it will be better if you pos your Full system specs + PSU specs amps.

Does anyone know where I can source a small number of replacement power supplies that are in the Hermes 845GV Lite barebone machines.
I have about 45 of them on a client site and a couple are begining to show signs of problems that appear to be PSU related.
The PSU is made be Delta Electronics and the part number is DPS-200PB-138 A
Any help or advise would be most welcome.

Here's a few things to try. Some of them are long shots, but if you're desperate....
Make sure the 6-way ribbon cable from the front panel is plugged in properly.
Watch the HDD LED - should come on briefly, go off for a few seconds, then start flashing a lot when it starts booting. There's always a possibilty that the system is working, you just can't see the pictures for some reason.
Try unplugging all the drives (especially power leads) and see if you can get to BIOS. Then plug things back in until you can't.
Oh, and expect the PSU fan to fail after about a year

  • MSI KT6 Delta witk 1024MB RAM don't work

    Hi.
As you already know I got an KT6 Delta FISR mobo.
But it won't run properly with 1GB of RAM.
When in windows (XP Prof.) and I try to use for example Winamp and any game, I gets an error that says I'm out of memory so I have to exit one or more programs.
I think thats stupid since I don't get that error with 512 MB.
I've tried with just one chip @512MB (both of them) and it works fine, but when I puts in the last chip it won't work properly.
It's a time ago this happened so I've sold off my last chip but now I want more RAM and I thought that it would be nice to clear up if it's the mobo or just win xp?
I think its maybe because I've then had just a 2GB partiton to have windows on and win. did not have enough virtual memory.
I have now a 5GB partition, will it work now or may I shift mobo.
(tried to ask the folks where I bought this crap but they had no idea what I ment so gave up)

  • CPU fan isn't working on Hermes 845GV full and Lite

    well
i have here an hermes 845GV and when i switch it on, the cpu fan starts for about half an second and stops then, same problem with the lite version.
so, can this problem be solved or do i have to send it back to msi? (both comps are new)
    thx schBORG

it works fine, except the cpu fan isn't working, it only starts for about half a sec when u switch it on, when u connect the cable with the plug for the 2 side fans it works fine, but when the cpu fan isn't working, the cpu gets too hot and the computer crashes, and so the os installation is destroyed, that's the reason why i found that problem

  • HERMES 845GV questions

Hello everybody. I 've just bought a HERMES 845GV with a 2.8GHz P4 and 512MB Kingston PC266 DDR RAM. Some questions:
-Can I drive a CRT monitor through the DVI port with an adapter? (I have another one on the VGA port)
-I can't shut the thing down from within Windows (XP Pro SP1). Basicaly, windows do shut down but the computer is left running. I have to keep pressing the power button to kill it. Would anybody know anything about that?
-Is it supposed to be that noisy? I don't know which fan is making all that noise, but at times it gets very disturbing.
    Thanks.

yes, you need a DVI-to-VGA adaptor, but you'll need to check if your display hardware will support dual monitor display
as for your shutdown problem, in the BIOS settings, ensure that ACPI (Advanced Configuration and Power Interface) is enabled. if it is, can you hear a click after windows has shutdown, as if the power should be turned off? i had a similar problem like that where the PSU would "click" to power off, but it all stayed running. the PSU was faulty - i replaced it and it all worked fine

  • Hermes 845GV Power Problems

I have a Hermes 845GV system.  Every night it goes into standby.  In the morning I hit any key and it resumes.  This morning it did not resume so I hit the power button and made the system reset.  Instead of resetting the system shut off and would not turn back on.  It seems that there is no power getting to the system at all because the intergrated NIC on the back doesn't flash as it usual does and the mouse isn't lite up like it usually is even when the sytem is off?
I know there is power coming from the wall.  Everything else plugged into that outlet works (monitor/speakers/lamp).  I have also tried resetting the BIOS by switching the jumper as instructed in another section on this forum and then waiting and switching it back.
Is there anything else I should try before trying a different power supply?

    Hi,
Has anyone else had problems with PSU fans in these machines?
We've had a run of failures lately - I think the bearings in these fans are not very good
Mind you, the systems are failing after about a year of permanent running, but we hadn't experienced this problem with the older 6215 barebones.
Incidentally, the plug-with-a-fuse design mentioned by Wonkanoby is generally only found in the United Kingdom (and a few former colonies, e.g. Hong Kong I think). I think it's a by-product of the UK "Ring Mains" power wiring method, which involves heavier wiring and larger capacity switchboard fuses, so you need a smaller fuse to protect each individual appliance.

  • DDR RAM voltage question

i have some sort of the K8N Neo4-F/FI (dunno exactly) with a pair of 512MB ddr ram 400MHz (hyundai chips)
i don't overclock at all, everything is at the default settings.
yet if i go to the bios and check the ddr settings, the voltage is 2.65V, i haven't changed this, this is the default setting.
shouldn't the ddr rams run at 2.5V by default? so why is mine running at 2.65? can i reduce it back to 2.5? i don't want any damage to my ram and i want them to last long.

Quote from: bsh on 25-January-07, 19:54:59
just found on wikipedia, that ddr operates at 2.5V.
it really depends on the chip. since i don't think that hyundai makes mem chips, i'm guessing that you have hynix chips. the majority of the hynix chips on the DDR memories out there are either D43 or D5. both of them have a stock voltage of 2.5V, but the D43 has a max recommended voltage of 2.9V while for the D5 this is 3V. so i would say, you're safe till 2.9V anyway.

  • Problem in installing a new DDR RAM on my board MSI 915GLM-V

    Hi,
I have a System whose configuration is as follows
    Mainboard:MSI 915GLM-V
    Processor: Intel P4 3.06Mhz(533 FSB)
    Bios :Award V3.3
Memory: 256MB(64*4) DDR RAM in one DIMM slot(333 Mhz).
I wanted to increase the memory to 512 MB and hence bought a new256 MB(333 MHZ and 32 *8) card. But whenever I insert my card, My system never boots up. I am unable to even enter the bios.
I even replaced my old DDR RAM with this new one. But still my system never comes up. Is there any reason that my system is not recognising the new memory. Or is it that 32*8 not supported by this motherboard.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Ravitej

Sorry, your DDR RAM is not supported.  You need 64*4 for 256MB, or 64*8 for 512MB.

  • Z77A-GD65 - fast ram and Intel Rapid Start don't work together??

    Greetings.
I have got 2x4Gbyte G.Skill CL10 2400Mhz ram. When running this ram at its default speed at 2400Mhz, Intel Rapid Start don't work. When I shut it down, it acts normal until the point where the system "wakes up" for a few seconds to write to the special partition for IRS. The PC then try to reboot, but after 2 attemps it says that the Overclocking has failed and I have the choise of F1 (setup) or F2 (load default settings and continue).
If I lower the ram speed below the default speed (i.e. don't use the XMP profile), then Intel Rapid Start works fine.
Memtest86 do not show any error at all after 4 pass with the G.Skill at 2400Mhz. To me it seems like the motherboard can't handle this speed at the state in Intel Rapid Start.
Anybody with info about what to do?

The internet is bloated with paid "reviews" ...
Here is what you have and what you paid for:
    http://ark.intel.com/products/65520
Max Memory Size (dependent on memory type) : 32 GB
    Memory Types : DDR3-1333/1600
    Memory Channels : 2
    Max Memory Bandwidth : 25.6 GB/s
Intel does not guarantee anything above 1600MHz.
On the top of that, 25.6 GB/s bandwidth is enough for DDR3-1600 in dual-channel only.
In other words, above 1600Mhz the perfomances boost is close to ZERO.
RAM speed over 1600Mhz does nothing? That WAS true, but not anymore. First of this:
    Anandtech:
    http://www.anandtech.com/show/6372/memory-performance-16gb-ddr31333-to-ddr32400-on-ivy-bridge-igp-with-gskill
    xbitlabs:
    http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/memory/display/ivy-bridge-ddr3.html
    overclock.net:
    http://www.overclock.net/t/1438222/battlefield-4-ram-memory-benchmark
Second, I can messure a real performance difference when using this memory at 2400mhz vs 1600mhz, f.i. Winrar5.01 x64, when searching in reg.database, and other memoryhungry programs. My graphic-card is not powerfull enough to show any difference in games, but almost anything else I _can_ se a difference.
If you honestly can read these 3 links and still say, that memory speed does not matter, I think I know more about this than you
I'm quite sure, that a big place like Anandtech is not payed to show up this result.

  • Fastest Compatable DDR RAM For 648 MAX?

I've been reading about all these problems people have been having concerning RAM/motherboard combinations, and have concluded that my RAM is what is causing my problems (XP/2000 installation difficulties, unrecognizable Gainward GF4 Ti4200 card, boot up problems).  Right now, I have one Kingston Hyper X 512MB DDR434 RAM (which is going out the door soon) installed on my 648 MAX.
I originally thought the video card problem was BIOS related because the only thing recommended by XP was to update the BIOS (said motherboard does not support your video card's features; try updating your BIOS).  I tried that through LiveUpdate, and it messed up somehow during the flash, so I tried to restore the original BIOS, but the system was very unstable after that.  I'm about to send my motherboard back for an exchange.  I just found out by reading some posts here that other people have been having the same problem with a similar RAM/video card setup.
Also, I'm having extreme difficulty installing Win2000.  It installed the first time on a test HDD, but on my new one (WD 80GB 7200RPM ATA100), it wouldn't go in at all.  ;( It went up to the final file copying part (after entering the serial number), and crashed.  It kept doing that, so I gave up and moved on to XP.  XP went in fine the first time, but it wouldn't reinstall after that, even with a reformatted drive.  Other people are having similar problems, and said that once they swapped out their RAM, their problems were gone.
I'm just looking for the fastest compatible 512MB DDR RAM available for the 648.  Thanks.

Heh, funny thing, I was messing around with some BIOS settings, and somehow got my computer to work this afternoon! 8o Reinstalled everything, and was having a good ol time!  :D
Then, and even funnier thing happened.  I went out this evening, and when I came back, the computer wouldn't work anymore!  X(  This thing is driving me nuts.  I'm definitely gonna pick up either the Corsair or Winbond memory ASAP.  Thanks for the replys everyone!
BTW, I've had the hard drive by itself with the jumperless setting from the beginning.  Also, it always wants to be the primary drive, even when it's set to slave and attached at the slave connector on the IDE cable. ?(  I know that isn't a problem right now cause I just have it by itself on the cable.

  • DDR RAM 2GB in DC7100

    Hi!
    May I install to DC7100 SFF (PE218ET) BIOS 786C1 v.01.05  DDR RAM 2*2G Micron PC3200R-30331-z?
Maybe I need to upgrade BIOS?

    Hi:
The maximum amount of memory you can install in each memory slot is limited to 1 GB.
A BIOS update won't change that.
You can install 2 x 2 GB in a dc7600 even though the specs say it is not supported, but you can't on a dc7100.
