Herratic screen re-draw

Hi,
While scrolling down in applications (specially agenda)
images are badly redrawn wih local flickering at the same time.
Some lines are splitted or not at the right high when the scrolling stops.
(b.e. the letters of a name in agenda are hardly readable because only part of the lines are redrawn, plus they're not at the true place, if I click on it another name shows.)
When using internet browsers (safari and firefox) there's an added effect, the gif or animated images are flickering all the time.
I looked in Console and there's a repeating message appearing every 3 sec that may have a relation (?): 13/09/08 11:52:51 mds[33] (Error) Import: importer:0x83a200 Importer start failed for 501 (kr:268435459 (ipc/send) invalid destination port)
There's another problem that may be related, even though it's from the moment I got this computer: reactions delays while drawing in Photoshop with wacom tablet.
Anyway the problem is not happening all the time, but I don't have any idea of the circumstances combination that make it happen.

Thanks for your suggestions, but,
weird but true, as when one goes to the doctor,... this did stop to happen.
I looked in the console before doing what you suggest and the message doesn't appear anymore neither. (yet another load of weird messages like: CGPDFDocumentGetMediaBox is obsolete, please use...)
On the other hand I did repair permissions AND erase all the root of "ACL found but not expected" messages through Sandbox as explained in another thread.
Plus did run the lasts automatic software updates.
I don't know if this could have had any relationship.
Let's wait for some time and if doesn't happen anymore, it will have been another apple non-solved weird issue.
About Wacom tablet: I use both a Bamboo in th eoffice and a graphire 3 at home. I did need to install both drives.
The update you suggest doesn't seem to support Bamboo neither, shall I udate anyway?

  • Weird Screen Re-Draw When Dragging on Timeline

    Just downloaded the trail of Premiere Elements 10. My first experience with it was dragging media from my project into the timeline and the screen re-draws in this amazingly buggy way. I see the same behavior any time I try to drag any item on the timeline. I took a few screen shots to demonstrate what I mean. The timeline becomes completely unusable and obscured while the program re-draws the top of the interface over it. System is a MacBook Air Core i5 running OSX 10.7.3 with an external monitor. I've tried re-starting the app with no change. With behavior like this, it's pretty much unusable.

    The red lines above the clips on your timeline is an indication of a mismatch between your video source and the project settings -- which likely also accounts for the buggy re-rendering issue you're having.
    What model of camcorder did this video come from and what resolution and format is it?
    When you started your Premiere Elements project, which project settings did you select?

  • Slow screen re-draw with InDesign CC

    Having upgraded to InDesign CC and the screen re-draw speed is a disaster. The whole point of the product is to be PRODUCTIVE!!!!
    Design professionals need the products that they work with to be able to keep up with their creative input and not have it limited by poor performance. We pay for fast hardware to run the software as fast as it can go. To have to sit and WAIT for the program to catch up to what you are doing is extremely frustrating.
    When is Adobe going to look at designing their software from the point of view of the user - NOT just adding features that aren't targetted towards getting the job done??

    OS 10.6.8 and yes it was a clean install.
    Have done all your suggestions previously and still same problem. It appears to be worst when moving type, or even just typing in text.
    So its partly linked to how the fonts are being re-drawn on screen?

    Has anyone seen this. Serious re-draw issues when observing / controlling certain Macs with ARD 3, have seen this sometimes with ARD 2.
    Buttons, boxes get blotched and can not see what you are doing, disconnecting and re-connecting does not solve it.

    Have you tried reinstalling the ARD client? Are the systems that have this problem running 10.4.7?

    One way to test is to Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, Test for problem in Safe Mode...
    PS. Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive
    Reboot, test again.
    If it only does it in Regular Boot, then it could be some hardware problem like Video card, (Quartz is turned off in Safe Mode), or Airport, or some USB or Firewire device, or 3rd party add-on, Check System Preferences>Accounts>Login Items window to see if it or something relevant is listed.
    Check the System Preferences>Other Row, for 3rd party Pref Panes.

    Also there are many device which can do this like Vision RGB, Epiphan etc.
    These devices gets listed in FMLE as anyother normal video device. For audio you van attach any mike on your computers and can use the sound card of your system in audio device list.
    These devices lets you capture HD video at maximum 10 FPS depending upon your machine hardware capabilities but i think this FPS is more tha sufficient for power point slides and presentations.
    Also please keep bitrates little bit high because of high size video.

    Simple Way to Do this:
    1) Create the relevant Button on the screen.Assign Group name in the screen Properties.
    2) In PBO you can write codes to hide the button according to your requirements.
    Ex:
    PBO.
    LOOP AT SCREEN.
    IF SCREEN-GROUP1 = 'AA'.        " Group assigned at Property level
    Screen-Active = 0.
    ENDIF.
    MODIFY SCREEN.

  • Problem with screen re-draw in full screen mode on secondary screen.

    Hello all, using dual monitors , when I enter full screen mode (no window container) on the secondary screen (not the palette screen) panning the image using the hand tool, the screen has a delayed redraw of the image. It is "re-tiling" the image like it is out of memory...even happens on small jpeg files. Doesn't happen in "windowed" modes , and doesn't happen at all on main screen in all modes. I have re-installed Photoshop and checked permissions and disks, trashed preferences, still same. Any thoughts? iMac with mini dvi out, cs3 4 gb ram os10.6.5.

  • My screen re-draw gets completely hosed

    I have a Mac Pro with 4 monitors; I've been using it for a couple of years now, with no problem. Over the last few months, I've noticed that after a while, screen redraws (like after I move a window) get completely messed up. Remarkably, this is visible to screengrab, so you can see what it looks like here:

      it's worst on one of the monitors, but does happen on one of the others.  Usually going to Dashboard and back clears it up, but not always.   Also, a weird thing affects Firefox - the window contents go completely black sometimes. Sometimes moving it to a different monitor makes it show up again, and sometimes not.   I've had one of the video cards replaced (the one running the monitors where this happens most often) but it's still happening. And it's not consistent enough so that if I taker the machine to Apple, they'd have to work on it for weeks maybe to see this behavior.  How do I debug this problem? What could be causing it? The fact that grabscreen sees it also must be a clue, yes?  Hardware profile here:

    There is also a widget to help boost the fans more proactively than the system does to respond to changes in temperature.
    Normally AMD has a control panel to monitor GPU temp and fan (and allow user control) but not sure that is an option - check around - under Mac OS.

  • Audio dropping/"cyloning" during screen share when screen is drawing

    Hi all,
    Whenever I use screen sharing in Lion, and am viewing their screen, as they move windows, scroll, or do anything that causes the screen to even partially redraw, their audio (voice) gets very choppy on my end. It can be so bad that I hear only every other word, which makes it very hard to know what they are asking me! I'm trying to use this for training purposes so it's mildly important that I can hear them, to say the least.
    I assume it's a bandwidth issue, although some of my clients have pretty robust connections.
    I've tried lowering they screen rez but that doesn't usually help. Sadly by comparison Skype works perfectly well, however I can't control their screen over Skype, which sometimes I need to do.
    Surprisingly it seems iChat prioiritizes video over audio; I can see their screen very well, but can't hear them!
    I've resorted to talking on the phone while screensharing before but that's not ideal or always possible, especially for international calls.
    Other than more bandwidth, wired vs wireless connection, and lowering screen resolution, any tips on making this better? It's so frustrating that Skype works so much better. I really prefer to use iChat!

    In case anyone comes across this post, we solved the problem. This definitely seemed to be specific to that model of Macbook, and it always came AFTER all of the software updates.
    I found the log under Console Utility (in Utilities) which showed some errors happening at the time of screen sharing. It only appeared on the new macbooks (among the 23 other older ones that did not fail).
    THE FIX: Go into your Hard Drive > Library > Caches. Select all and trash them. RESTART, and your problem will be solved.
    Again, this only happened on this model of Macbook from what we can tell. We did not have to throw out the caches in Hard Drive > Library on any other model iMac, eMac, or MacBook.
    Glad to have it solved.

    By drawing on the screen, I assume you mean drawing outside the bounds of a top-level window like
    JFrame or JDialog. You can't do that. At least, without going native and even then that's a dodgey thing

  • Woh to draw anywhere in the screen?

    Hi,
    This might be a silly question but I haven't practically any graphics programming on Java before.. I tried to google for a solution and also searched these forums but no help yet.
    I need to draw some text and images anywhere in the screen. That is, the drawing is done to an on top of another (non-Java) program. I would do this periodically few times a second so that if the other program repaints, the text&images come visible again.
    So, is there a way to acchieve this in Java?
    - Maybe using some transparency settings for a frame and disabling any focus?
    - Or maybe I can somehow manipulate the screen memory "directly"? In the Robot class there is a way to get the Colro of any pixel in the screen (Robot.getPixelColor). Is there a way to do it the other way around, that is, set the color of any pixel in the screen or draw tesxt in the screen?

    I have got pixels (frames) coming out from frame grabber that I wanted to display so that I could get higher framerates than using standard method (about 5 fps):

    Here is hopefully a simple example of how to save some cpu time when drawing images. We will create a buffered image that is compatible with the screen and draw the original image on it.
    BufferedImage imageToDrawOn; //going to be created
    BufferedImage original; //allready loaded (use java.IO.read() )
    imageToDrawOn = gc.createCompatibleImage(original.getWidth(),original.getHeight(),Transparency.BITMASK);

  • Dell XPS Laptop Touch Screen Inputs Interpreted as Panning Photoshop CS6

    I have been working with Adobe Illustrator for a little while now and decided that I would like to try Photoshop for digital art.  I downloaded the 30 day trial version of Adobe Illustrator CS 6 about three days ago and noticed immediately that touching my laptop’s touch screen will only allow me to pan using the Hand Tool in Photoshop. I have never had this problem in Adobe Illustrator, as using the touch screen acts just as if I were clicking the left mouse button and dragging the cursor around the screen. I have a Dell XPS 15 - L502X laptop with an integrated touch screen (the entire 15” screen is Multi-touch sensitive).  It is running N-Trig DuoSense Digitizer with the latest drivers.  Is there some simple setting change that can be done within Photoshop CS6 to make it recognize a touch screen input as a normal left click and thus allow me to draw on it using the pen, pencil, or paintbrush tool?  I find it quite odd that I have no problems with this in Illustrator CS6.  Could it be that this tablet-like touch screen input is restricted on the trial version?  I am interested in buying Photoshop so I can use it whenever I’d like for longer than the 30 day trial allows, but I certainly don’t want to buy it if I cannot use my stylus on the touch screen to draw.  Any help is much appreciated!

    I have this exact same problem, though I have a touchscreen monitor for my PC rather than a laptop. This is a bit awkward, but until I find a real solution, this works just fine: when you want to use the touch screen for CS6, hold down the mouse button. You may have to use the mouse to tap the tools you want, but at least there's a temporary solution.

  • How do I change the drawing setting to show the objects filled?

    When I create drawing shapes I cant see any color or fill.  I know there is a setting that need to be changed so I can see them.  Here is a pick of what is happening on my screen:
    I draw the shape and all I see is the green outline, any suggestions?

    First try clicking the little greenish square next to the layer's label in the timeline that is showing in your screenshot.  That is the outline control for the layer.  If that doesn't change it, then click it again because it was probably okay and you will possibly have set it to show just the outline... it should appear filled.
    If that didn't resolve it, then in the menu bar select View -> Preview Mode -> and select something other than Outlines.
