Hesitant to upgrade to iCloud Control Panel 2.0

I've been happily using iCloud Control Panel v1.1 on a Windows 7 PC to sync only my contacts and calendar (I'm not interested in syncing Mail via Cloud).  Yet the performance of this solution has degraded over time, most likely coinciding with the installation of iOS 6 on my iPhone.  Often I must now force a sync on calendar, and changes made on iPhone to Contacts dont seem to make it to Outlook at all, even after forcing a sync. In version 1.1 of the Control Panel, contacts and calendar/tasks can be individually selected, but I've seen that iCloud Control Panel 2.0 lumps all the Outlook sync functions into one selection so I've been holding off on upgrading.  Can anyone tell me whether there is a workaround or whether there is news of an iCloud Control Panel that is newer than 2.0 that addresses this?

Download link for iCloud Control Panel 2.0 for Windows. There is no mention of 32/64 bit versions on the page so presumably this is a 32-bit program capable of running on all flavours of Windows from Vista SP2 upwards.

  • Solution to iCloud control panel 4 sign-in server error under windows 8.1x64

Potential solution for icloud 3.1 and 4.0 installation and iTune store sign-in, all showing errors or sign-in errors due to server error.
My setup is Iphone 4S upgraded to ios8, ipad Air still on 7.1.2, windows PC on Win8.1x64 and with icloud 3.1 working fine till I tried to
upgrade/install/re-install 4.0 icloud control panel after upgrade to ios8. See end of message for other alternatives I had tried.
    This worked for me.
There seem to be some programmes that is conflicting with Apple's, so download this free program autoruns suggested by Apple software on Windows: May see performance issues and blank iTunes Store
Run the program and choose the the "Winsock Providers", any other programme that shows up here except Bonjour (which is used by Apple) may be conflicting with the sign-in.
    Uninstall those potentially conflicting programs
Inside autoruns->Winsock Provider, right click on the conflicting programs and choose delete. This would stop the conflicting program to start up
    again. Reboot the computer
Install icloud control panel, sign in
If works, reinstall those conflicting programs again and all back to normal, with iCloud control panel working
If doesn't work, my mojo not strong enough and you need to google for more help.
Other activities I googled, tried and failed
    a) Adding Apple icloud program and services into the windows firewall
    b) Uninstall version 4.0, re-install 3.1 (about 10 times)
    c) create a new Apple ID to sign in
    d) Sign out of icloud from my devices (iphone and ipad)
    e) switch to Android devices

You need to edit the MSI installer and change the Launch Condition to allow iCloud Control Panel 3.1 to be installed on Windows Server 2008 R2.
First, download Orca, an MSI editor. You can get it from the Windows SDK. (Download and only check the box for "Development Tools" under Native components during installation, then go to C:\Program Files\Microsoft SDKs\Windows\v7.1\Bin and install Orca.msi)
Launch Orca and then find the iCloud(64).msi to edit.
If using Apple Software Update, browse to C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Apple\Apple Software Update and open iCloud(64).msi in Orca.
Or download iCloudSetup.exe and use a zip program (7-zip) to extract the MSI from the exe and open it in Orca.
In Orca, select the LaunchCondition table and look for the condition "(VersionNT >= 601) AND (MsiNTProductType = 1)". Change the number 1 to a number 3 so the condition should read "(VersionNT >= 601) AND (MsiNTProductType = 3)". Save and exit Orca.
Then double click on the msi and it should install successfully now.

  • Itunes 10.6 and 10.7 crash after installing icloud control panel

I recently upgraded itunes 10.6 to 10.7 on my windows home server 2011 computer and also installed iCloud control panel 2.0.  After the upgrade itunes crashes within a few seconds of starting.  I can see the status bar saying that itunes is accessing the store and then the itunes window goes away.  I tried removing the icloud control panel, but itunes still crashes.  I completely removed itunes and all related components and then reinstalled 10.6.  At this point itunes works again so I tried reinstalling the iCloud control panel and not upgrading itunes, but itunes again crashes.  So, it seems that regardless of the itunes version I can't run itunes and iCloud on windows home server 2011.  Any ideas on a solution?

An update to my earlier post.  I just upgraded to itunes 10.7 and icontrol panel 2.0 again, but before upgrading I turned off automatic downloads in the store preferences.  I was able to launch itunes and even click on the store without itunes crashing until I launched the icloud control panel and logged in.  Now if I click on the store in itunes it crashes.  I tried logging out of icloud, but it still crashes, but only when i click on the itunes store.  The error I see in windows event viewer is below.  I've seen this error referenced in other posts, but have not found a solution yet.  At least itunes is partially functional now.

  • Since iCloud Control Panel 3 update, cannot enable Outlook add-in...Outlook crashes

I have been using the iCloud integration for some time now with my Outlook 2010 on a Windows 7 PC. Since I did the recent upgrade to the iCloud control panel to the latest version 3.0, I can no longer use the integration. I have gone through all of the recommendations I could find on the subject, to no avail.
I have go to the add-ins center on Outlook, and have found the iCloud add-in has been disabled. I then re-enable it. I re-start Outlook, and get a crash message. I close it, then try to re-open Outlook. I get the message that the add-in is causing Outlook to not work, and am asked if I want to disable the add-in. If I select 'no', then I get another crash. I continue this, and eventually, I decide to check 'yes'. Outlook then works fine, but, of course, no iCloud integration. I have tried to sign out of iCloud, and back in (while Outlook is not running), bur ir does not help. I have tried unistalling iCloud control panel and re-installing it from a fresh download. Again, no luck.
I have tried to find an older version of the control panel to see if I can get back to where I was before the update, but cannot find it anywhere.
From the number of things I see on my web searches, this seems to be a common problem, but noone seems to have a good answer.
I am running an Ipad2 and an iPhone 4s on iCloud, as well as my desktop PC with Outlook. I really need to keep all my calendars and contacts sunk up via iCloud so I am not constantly trying to juggle schedules, etc.
I would appreciate any advice to help resolve this issue.
    Thanks.

  • HT201077 iCloud Control Panel

Have icloud set up on my iPhone4 (photos is turned on).  I installed iCloud control Panel on PC (Windows 8).  iCloud photos/Photo stream was working until I installed ios 7 on my iPad mini. iCloud photos disappeared.
I just reinstalled iCloud control panel, but cannot select photos box to set it up again. Obviously, nothing shows up in my iCloud photos, but all photos (up until I updated) show up in a photo stream folder in my pictures library.
Why can't I select photos on the control panel??  Does my iPhone have to be upgraded to the ios 7 as well?  I have not upgraded to ios7 on my iPhone 4 because our company's IT department states that ios7 on the iPhone4 does not work well with our system.

Thanks randers4. I understand the cloud only keeps photos for 30 days.  However some of the 86 I got back are over 90 days old.  I should mention that I recently got a replacement phone and used iTunes to back up the old phone and then used same to put my contacts, email etc on the new phone.  Could this have been the source of the problem?
It should not have been possible to receive photo stream photos that old on a newly connected device unless they were added to photo stream much later.  iCloud keeps photos added in the last 30 days, regardless of when they were taken.  Perhaps the photos were somehow added to photo stream on your replacement phone.
Regardless of how this happened, the only way to get the missing photos on your PC is to either import them with your usb cable as described here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083, or create a shared photo stream containing them which will sycn to your PC alongside your photo stream photos.

  • Reinstalled icloud control panel for pc and lost contact with contacts and calendar

I downloaded OS5 for my iphone and the new upgrade for my macbook air.  Things worked great yesterday with everything pointing to Icloud.   I could not open Outlook 2010 this morning.  I uninstalled iCloud Control Panel.  I got Outlook to open, but it cannot see iCloud and all contacts and calendars are gone and I have no icloud file to point to. How do I reistablish the link?

It stopped working, most probably after the last update of 31st December 2012. I'm not sure though. First time sync works both ways. Calendar items from both iCloud and Outlook appeard in both sides after the first, manual, sync.
All updates from Windows and MS Office are installed (that can also messed everything up btw)

  • ICloud control panel 2.0: unable to edit event times in calendar

After upgrading to v. 2.0 of iCloud control panel, I was no longer able to enter dates and times for event into an iCloud calendar via Outlook 2010.
    Steps to reproduce:
    0) Using Outlook 2010 32-bit under Windows 7 64-bit, with iCloud control panel 2.0.2.187
    1) Set Windows short date format to dd-MMM-yy.
    2) In Outlook, create a new event in an iCloud calendar by double-clicking on the calendar in the 8:00PM timeslot on Sun, 23-Sep-12.
    3) Click in the start time drop-down box and select a different start time - select 10:00PM.
Result: The date changes to Sat 23-Dec-00, and further attempts to change the date and time fail.
Workaround: Note that if you change the short date format in the Windows control panel to a different format (I tested M/d/yyyy), this defect does not appear.
I have reported this on the iCloud feedback page, but in the meantime if anyone has any more insight or workarounds to share, please do.

Also, this may be related to the defect described above, but this one does not seem to depend on the localization setting in the same way.
If you create a new event on an iCloud calendar in Outlook 2010 by double-clicking on the calendar, then type a new start time of "1915" (or any other 24-hr time without a colon) in the start time field, then press Tab, the date changes to Sat 30-Dec-1899. This method of entry works properly on a native Outlook calendar.

  • TS4175 Allowed all these files and even switched security software off but photo stream is still greyed out on the icloud control panel on my windows 7 pc. Any other ideas?

    See above

Hi all.  I can’t tell you how to solve your iCloud 3.x issues.  Heck, I don’t think they’re even solvable.
But if you had a previous version of iCloud that was working correctly then I can definitely tell you how to solve the “iCloud Photo Stream is not syncing correctly to my Windows 7 PC” problem.  …without even a re-boot.
Log out of iCloud 3.0 and uninstall it.
Open My Computer and then open your C:\ drive.  Go to Tools/Folder Options and click on the View tab.  Select the “Show hidden…” radio button and click on OK.
    Open the Users folder.
    Open your user folder
    Open ProgramData (previously hidden folder)
Open the Apple folder – not the Apple Computer folder.
    Open the Installer Cache folder
In Details view sort on Name
Open the folder for the newest entry for iCloud Control Panel 2.x – probably 2.1.2.8 dated 4/25/2013
Right click on iCloud64.msi and select Install.
When finished, the synching between iCloud and your PC will be back to working perfectly as before the 3.0 fiasco.  The pictures will be synched to the same Photostream folder as before the “upgrade”.  Now all you need to do is wait until Apple/Microsoft get this thing fixed and working before you try the 3.x upgrade again.
I think the iCloud 3.0 software was written by the same folks who wrote healthcare.gov with the main difference being that healthcare.gov might eventually be made to work.
For those of you who hate to go backwards, think of it as attacking to the rear.  Which would you rather have, the frustration of no synching or everything working on an older version?
    Good luck…

  • Windows icloud control panel installer error

I control uninstall or repair the Windows Icloud 4.00. I cannot install the update 4.01 either. Any workarounds? Symantec has a utility to completely uninstall their software in Windows. Does Apple have the same?

"The installer encountered errors before iCloud Control panel could be configured.  Your system has not been modified.  To try these operations at a later time, please run the installer again"
I have disable the Anti Virus, removed other Apple apps, re booted the system and have tried the installer several time from several sources. THEY ALL FAIL.

  • HT4759 what is the icloud control panel?

i have not been able to update my itunes with the music cloud on my pc.  there was something about an icloud control panel and i was wondering if that was my problem?

Many users have lost photos while preforming a restore from backup or upgrading the iOS.   Recall, only photos in the camera roll are backed up to iCloud.  There is a way to turn backups for camera roll on/off, perhaps these users had camera roll turned off.
    See:
Settings>icloud>Storage & Backups>Manage Storage,  tap the device's name and on the next screen, be sure Camera Roll is turned on.
    IMPORTANT...
Photos should be regularly synced to a computer (like you store photos from a digital camera) using either USB via iTunes (on a mac use iPhoto or Aperture to move them to an album) or using photo stream.  If you have been doing that, then you can sync those photos back to your device.
If you haven't been saving photos except relying on iCloud to store them in a backup, then that is risky, as many users have discovered.  I'm afraid I have no advice in this case - there is no "cure".

  • Photostream Greyed out in Icloud Control Panel v.3

I was using without error Icloud Control panel v3. on my Windows 7 PC.
Having upgraded to IOS 7 on the phone,  Itunes 11.1 on PC and Icloud Control Panel 3.0
I now have Photos greyed out. This was working on the previous version.
Having signed in / out this has not made any difference.

Have had some success with multiple computers running Windows 7, Vista, and Windows Server 2008 doing the following with iCloud Control Panel 3.1 (combination of several different remedies posted in forum):
Sign out of iCloud Control Panel
Open Task Manager and End all Apple iCloud and Photostream processes
Delete the files from the Directory C:\Users\[your user name]\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\Mediastream
Open iCloud Control Panel and sign in with apple ID
If Photo option is still greyed out, sign out and sign back in with iCloud email address and password.
This has worked for seven users that I support across several different windows hardware platforms.  Good luck!
