Hewlett-Packard 786D7 v01.02 BIOS Update

Hi,
I've installed an nvidia geforce gtx 560 ti graphics card into my son's HP xw4400 Workstation as a Xmas present and I get the following error message:
"Your computer's system firmware does not include enough information to properly configure and use this"
My understanding is that I need to update the BIOS but I can't find an update for Hewlett-Packard 786D7 v01.02 on this site. I've attached a screenshot of the system info.
Thank you in advance for your support.

  • Failed updates every night for Hewlett Packard Imaging NULL print HP Photosmart 6520 series

since I got my photosmart 6520 printer 12/02/2012 every night it tries to update Hewlett Packard Imaging NULL print HP photosmart 6520 series ....and it fails every time.  I have a HP P 7 1010 desktop and ever since I got new printer I have an exclaimation point on my computer and it says to troubleshoot and when you do it says it is doesn't have drivers and it shows NOT FIXED.  When you log off at night it tries to update the NULL print again and it fails every time.  I have talked to your service people numerous times for over an hour and they can not fix the problem.  PLEASE HELP

I did some looking into the problem for another user, and it looks like this is just a ghost update.  Basically a "ghost update" is an update that was for the device, but the device has more recent drivers which causes the update to keep failing.  The only thing you can do is hide the update, or ignore it.  Windows will keep trying to push it, but your printer doesn't need it.  If it did need the update, it would install right.  You can find the thread where I helped the other user linked below.  Hope this helps.

    Problem Description:
Yesterday I updated my laptop's BIOS to F 5A - latest available on HP Website. Since then I have lost the bluetooth functionality, which was wroking just fine prior to the update. Now the system doesn't find a bluetooth device.
    What I have already done:
    1. Switched back to previous versions of BIOS (available on HP Website coz I didn't note the BIOS version before I updated it). - That didn't work.
    2. Reseated the wireless card - Didn't work.
    3. Manually checked the connection of bluetooth module to the motherboard - Connection was fine but it still didn't work.
    4. Uninstalled the bluetooth driver and reinstalled it (HP integrated module WIDCOM) - still didn't work
    5. Installed HP Wireless Agent - Didn't work
    6. Installed HP Integrated module driver along with HP Wireless Agent - Didn't work
    7. Installed Ubuntu to check if its recognizing the device - Even its not recognizing the device which it used to do earlier.
    8. Sadly there's no BIOS setting in Setup which I can change to correct the bluetooth behaviour (Phoenix BIOS with limited interface).
After all the research, I am posting this because I am unable to find a sloution to this problem on my own. I request the members to please help.
    Uday

I got the bluetooth working. Had to dismantle the laptop and found that a small switch was loose.

  • Bios update

Can a HP Compaq dc7700 SFF PC be upgraded to support a 2.53 GHz Intel Core2Duo (E7200) processor and why it shows theis message 1801 microcode update error

Hi again Paul and thanks for your rapid response! Unfortunately we have a crossed line, this was the first time I posted on that matter, your previous reply was therefore to another poster, sorry if I caused any confusion by jumping in unnanounced, forum's not my usual thing, nor computers for that matter! As an engineer I can builb them fine, just don't get the other stuff, life's too busy! I was today prompted to visit various forums in search of info, as a friend advised me he'd seen a windows .exe file microcode update on HP's website..just what I need thought I, having a very nice barely used dc7700p (vPro) sat in the shed and a nice LP GPU (AMD Radeon 7750 x 1gb GDDR5) in my spares box along with a Pentium E6700 x 3.2 ghz processor and a spare copy of win7 pro 64, (hated the Vista)...so this sounded like the answer to a simpletons prayers! Anyways, as a result of your rapid response I've now taken an extra motivation pill and had a peek on HP's website at the page my colleague linked to: http://h20565.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/public/detail?swItemId=vc_90213_1&sp4ts.oid=3232101#tab1 Content copied below for clarity "Microcode Update for HP 786E BIOS Family Computers with Intel Processors" By downloading, you agree to the terms and conditions of the HP Software License Agreement. Well, I can see why my colleague brought this up, several of us were given at least one of the dc7700's on retirement, as the company had thrown them in a cupboard having been advised they were not upgradeable, so they replaced them with Dell's. And it does look to the layman as though HP are offering the microcode update in windows format, so what are the facts? Thanks for the input

  • HP Elitebook 755 G2 BIOS Update from local media not starting

Hi All, I'm having a really annoying issue with these Elitebooks and need some help. We are trying to update the BIOS manually via USB. I have the EFI and Signature file in the location: Hewlett-Packard\BIOSUpdate and I have the BIN file located in: Hewlett-Packard\BIOS\New Now this is exactly where the BIOS is telling me to put these files on the USB. However whenever I click the accept button to start the update, it will freeze for a few seconds before returning to the main menu. The directory is right, and I've formatted the USB to FAT32 so that isn't an issue. I'm struggling to understand why it can't start the process. The USB is detected because you can see it when you go to select a method to boot from. Thanks,Josh

There is no need to change the boot mode to legacy.  Your description tells me that you must be in a business environment.  I do find it interesting that your encryption causes issues with booting into Windows.  I have no offhand idea as to what METech software is.  Why not just remove the original hard disk temporarily and replace it with a hard disk that has a vanilla  Windows OS on it? That will take the encrytion issue out of the equation. Once you have updated the BIOS you can put the original disk back in place. If you have numerous notebooks to update doing it this way should simplify things for you.  After all, BIOS is firmware on a chip, not software on a hard disk.

  • Cannot adjust screen brightness after BIOS update

I was able to adjust my laptop screen brightness but after the BIOS update:
    https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=132077
    I'm not any-more able to adjust it by hitting F2 / F3
Any good suggestion on what to use to manage volume, /brightness etc? or why now isn't working anymore?
    Thanks.

    HI,
thanks for the heads up, however I think the problem could be related also to my keyboard layout.
    Current
    cat /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/10-synaptics.conf | grep -i model
           Option                 "XkbModel" "hpdv5"
Actually my HP is dv6 and I see now that the keyboard is totally different:

    DV6 http://images.google.com/imgres?q=hp+dv … 29,r:1,s:0
    What Xkbmodel should I use?

  • WHY HEWLETT PACKARD ROYALLY PISSES ME OFF?

Shows on bottom right of my monitor:
    Windows 7
    Build 7601
This copy of Windows is not genuine
Dear HP (Assuming I am speaking to HP directly)
I have an HP Pavilion purchased about 2 years ago (a birthday present from my wife). It came with Windows 7 Home Premium pre-installed and disc but with no disc key code. I was having problems with the system running extremely slow so I took it to Staples tech people. They kept it for 4 days, tried everything but nothing worked. They suggested I purchase an external hard drive and transfer all my files, etc. to same which I did but my computer still ran slowly. Thus, out frustration and after spending $300 for tech services and external hard drive, I decide just to install the Windows 7 disc that came with the computer. This, of course, started me back to square one … I had to start as though it was a new computer with no personal saved files, etc.
I seemed to get everything back to normal and had no “slow running” issues. Then, a message started popping up that my version of Windows was not genuine. I searched my computer, found the presumed key code and entered it but it was and continues to be rejected as not valid no matter what I do. Since the time to valid has expired, my Windows screen is black, the clock is always wrong and other annoying things won’t work.
I called your support line and got the runaround. Eventually, my line with your representatives, before I had a solution, was disconnected and I was not about to go through that HELL again. Searching the Web, I was advised that this was a HP issue that you could resolve. If not, Microsoft wants me to spend $150 for another Windows 7 program. After adding up all my expenses thus far to fix my original “slow” problem,  I could have bought a brand new computer and I am not going to waste any more of my money. This is why I am so angry and have made my anger known to all my Facebook friends.
Below, I have copied and pasted all the information I was able to gather from my computer operating system, computer battery and Windows information. If you can help me, it would certainly be appreciated and change my opinion of HP which I will immediately make known to my Facebook friends and remove any negative comments I have made about HP.
WHAT'S THIS YOU WROTE? I STILL HAVE NO ANSWERS TO MY PROBLEM. INCREDIBLE!!!

P.S. - Don't see where I am able to send you (Assuming I am speaking to an HP Representative) the attachments I mentioned. Why can't I have someone's actual e-mail address so I can respond one-on-one via sending mail through my Gmail account? I feel this "posting" method is clandestine .. cloak and dagger kind of stuff. Feel like HP folks are a kind of Watergate "Deep Throat" kind of characters, hiding just out of sight in the shadows. PLEASE GIVE ME JUST ONE, LIVING, BREATHING HUMAN BEING I CAN COMMUNICATE WITH AND STOP MAKING A CLOWN OUT OF ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    {personal info removed}

WANT TO KNOW WHY HEWLETT PACKARD ROYALLY PISSES ME OFF? You have a computer problem and you call their HELP SUPPORT LINE.  This takes you somewhere to the far side of the earth. The FIRST CLOWN who answers, AFTER collecting all your personal information, product information, product codes, serial numbers, etc. and, AFTER having you explain your problem in minute detail, tells you he has to transfer you to a DIFFERENT department. AFTER BEING TRANSFERRED, the SECOND CLOWN, AGAIN, AFTER collecting all your personal information, product information, product codes, serial numbers, etc. and, AFTER again explaining your problem, tells you he has to transfer you to YET ANOTHER department. FOLLOWING SEVERAL MORE REPEATS OF THE SAME ORDEAL AND TALKING TO MANY CLOWNS, all the while praying you don’t get cut off and have to start the entire hellish process anew, you finally reach who you hope to be THE MAIN CLOWN who will finally resolve your problem with THE PRODUCT YOU PURCHASED FROM THEM. DOES HE HELP? HELL NO! He says you need to call some other manufacturer or you have to purchase something from them to correct the problem or you have to pay them to give you their support. SO, you have wasted your ENTIRE day on the phone talking to ALIEN CLOWNS who have been leading you around in circles like an elephant in a circus holding the tail of the elephant in front of him, getting no solution to your problem and trying to communicate with CLOWNS who speak unintelligible English. WELL, the irony is, ALL these “CLOWNS” have made you the BIGGEST CLOWN OF THEM ALL andall you are left with is: “Thanks for calling Hewlett Packard and have a nice day”.

  • ATI & Hewlett-Packard

WHY does HP need to know about my video card problems, I have a Toshiba Satellite.  However, I've received the following error message:
    Consider sending additional information
ATI display driver has stopped working properly.
At this time, we don't know the exact cause of this problem. Hewlett-Packard is interested in gathering additional feedback.
Please visit the Hewlett-Packard website to provide information about the problem:

HP has been useless to me in recent months.  If anything, they have been beneath useless, so badly that I will never do business with them again.  At any rate, why do they need my information?  I have done a corporate search on ATI and it is owned by AMD and absolutely no mention of HP in corporate holdings.  Can anybody shed some light on this for me?
    Thank you.
"I myself have known some very thoughtful dogs." - James Thurber

The error message comes from Windows, so I would assume that HP contacted Microsoft and had them include that message in an update. It may be possible that some of their systems are having a problem with that hardware, and they are trying to collect data on it.

  • Hewlett Packard Combo Printer Scanners - Supporting Software and Leopard

Just to let everyone know my brand new HP ColorSmart C7280 works fine in Leopard when used for printing but the scanning software isn't quite up to the job just yet. Also it doesn't like MPA2 encryption when used with the Airport Extreme. I had to drop down a level of security.
I have contacted HP and they say I need to keep an eye open on their website for when an update for their PhotoSmart software is available for Leopard. There isn't an update available yet and, furthermore, they don't know when there is going to be one.
This is fair enough but you might wish to *contact HP first* if you are using Leopard and are considering getting a Hewlett Packard combo printer/scanner/copier.
Other than this, the HP machine is fine.

  • • Hewlett-Packard - Imaging - Null Print - HP Deskjet 3520 series - Error 0x8024200b

have never been able to install imaging null print update on my destop on win 7/8/8.1 and now update appears on win 10 to update and again failure. Get error message:• Hewlett-Packard  - Imaging - Null Print - HP Deskjet 3520 series - Error 0x8024200b

Hello , and welcome to the HP Forums! I see you're having issues with an update.  I would like to help! I'd recommend starting with a power reset.  Disconnect the power cord from the printer and the power outlet, then wait 60 seconds. After 60 seconds, plug the printer back in. Ensure you plug the printer directly to a wall outlet. Make sure to bypass any sort of surge protector or power bar.
I would also recommend downloading and running the HP Print and Scan Doctor. Once the Doctor has been run, re-run the update. Good luck and please let me know the results of your troubleshooting steps. Thank you for posting on the HP Forums!

  • DC7700 Compac ULTRA SLIM DESKTOP PC BIOS UPDATE

    Hello world
I’m using Windows 7 Ultimate on a DC7700 Ultra-Slim Desktop PC and I’ve been getting these really annoying freezes where the screen goes black for a few seconds then I get an error message “Intel Accelerated Graphics Drivers for Windows Vista stopped responding and has recovered.” Sometimes I get a bluescreen and the PC reboots- mostly when I play a video file or PC game.
I downloaded an updated Intel graphics driver which installed fine and actually boosted performance significantly but the screen flashes persist. After a lot of research I think I need a bios update but I can’t seem to find one for win 7 ultimate. Information on this stuff isn’t always accurate and I don’t want to take any chances with the installation. My current BIOS software is 786E1 v01.09, 1/5/2007 (Q965/Q963 Express Chipset Family) and the updated Intel Graphics Accelerator driver is version 8.15.10.1930, 9/23/3009.
I don’t want to mess with the BIOS so I’m hoping someone can point me to the right download. Also would it be possible to do the upgrade in a Windows environment as opposed to Setup or Command mode? Please help!

Could you please give me the exact product number for your computer?
