Hewlett Packard Combo Printer Scanners - Supporting Software and Leopard

Just to let everyone know my brand new HP ColorSmart C7280 works fine in Leopard when used for printing but the scanning software isn't quite up to the job just yet. Also it doesn't like MPA2 encryption when used with the Airport Extreme. I had to drop down a level of security.
I have contacted HP and they say I need to keep an eye open on their website for when an update for their PhotoSmart software is available for Leopard. There isn't an update available yet and, furthermore, they don't know when there is going to be one.
This is fair enough but you might wish to *contact HP first* if you are using Leopard and are considering getting a Hewlett Packard combo printer/scanner/copier.
Other than this, the HP machine is fine.

Hello Walti:
I think you should E-mail HP's technical support people. I have found that they are most responsive.

  • Windows Support Software and Mountain Lion.

To anybody having difficulty downloading the Windows Support Software through the Bootcamp Assistant, it does infact work, but is incredibly slow. I have successfully installed Windows 7 today, but it took four hours to download the support software. Everything is now working well. If you are not sure it is working, start the download, and wait until the progress bar stops moving. Place your cursor alongside the end of the bar and check it 15 minutes later. You will see it is moving slowly. It's taken me a week to realise this. The genius bar had no idea when I checked with them.

Look to the right under "More Like This". Many are having the same issue with slow download. The only thing to do is be parient and as you said it is downloading very slowly. I just left mine downloading when I went to bed. In the morning it had completed.

  • Windows Support Software and Partitian question

I'm making a boot camp partition and it asked me to download the windows support software. Is this the same thing that is on my Macbook Pro install disk? And once made can the partitan be resived with disk utility or such software? Thanks.

That "download" only works for now on MacBook Air, yes it is sortof what is on your OS X DVD (never has worked but if it was 'smart' it would provide the full Boot Camp 3.2 current set of drivers, as is you have to insall off your OEM DVD and update).
Over plan the size, resize only with CampTune and maybe iPartition, not a great idea at all. Double your best guess.
Windows needs 9GB for updates like SP1 to perform, page file, hibernation, core system (20GB) plus room for profiles, cache, temp files, data, and applications you add.

  • Printer not supporting Polish and Danish Characters

    Hi,
We have a printer with model Intermec PM4i used for label printing.
We have a suitable customized device type for this printer.
This device type works fine with other printers.
The problem with the printer is that it does not support Polish (Poland language) and Danish (Denmark language) characters.
I thought there was some problem with the device type and hence we changed the device type to standard one i.e. LB_INT
    But this did not help.
Can anyone please help me resolve this issue?

Does your custom device type have a code page that includes the danish and polish special characters?
Does the font you're using (SAPScript/SmartForm) support those characters?
You might want to try the Forms Printing forum, this may be too specialized for this forum.

  • Support Software and drivers

    Hi:
In order for the pages to work correctly you need to be using Internet Explorer 10 or 11.
This is a problem for some of us that only go up to IE9 such as those with Vista or a fresh install of W7.
The workaround to get IE8 or IE9 to access the driver page is to:
    1. Enable the command bar at the top of the browser (just right click and check the command bar option).
    2. Then click on the little arrow to the right of the Tools menu.
    3. Click on Compatibility View Settings
    4. Uncheck the Use Microsoft Compatibility Lists box.
    5. Close and refresh the page.
You will probably then get a message that you need to be running IE10 or IE11, but you can close out of that and get to the drivers.

  • Supported printers and scanners - LIST!

    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3669
Apparently Apple are listing all printers and scanners supported by snow leopard. Thankfully both my printers and my scanner is supported. Just got to check the office printer is ok as well.
Snow Leopard disk in my bag waiting to be installed.
Drivers are built in to snow leopard.
    Message was edited by: sagalady

These are the Apple provided / build in drivers. Not just the one supported. Many other printers are supported. Check our printer manufacturer. I see many additional models from Dymo, Epon, Kodac, etc. on their web sites.

  • Can't open the applications for Hewlett Packard since upgrading my operation system

HP Photosmart C6280 All-in-One operating in OS 10.8.3.
I recently upgraded to OS10.8.3 and since doing so, I am getting this message, "You can't open the application HP Scan Pro becasue PowerPC applications are no longer supported." I tried to download a new driver and that didn't seem to work. What do I need to do?

    Hi,
The HP Scan Pro is an older software verison, intended for Leopard (10.5) or older OS versions.
Unplug the printer if it is connected via USB and uninstall any incompatible software by following the HP Uninstaller, located under Applications > Hewlett-Packard.
Next reboot your Mac and follow the steps below to install the printer on Mountain Lion:

Once installing the latest software you may scan by following the steps below:

  • Boot camp does not give me the option to make a partition, instead it just gives me the options to download windows support software, install windows 7, etc. I do not want any of these, I want to set aside the space on my hard drive!

Hello, I wish to install Linux Ubuntu on my macbook pro by using boot camp to set aside space. Whenever I load the Boot Camp Assistant application out of the utilities folder in applications, it only gives me the options to download windows support software and install windows 7. I do not want this, I just want to be able to slide that little bar to set aside the space on my hard drive that i can use for Linux. I tried just downloading the windows support software but my internet is immensely slow and it has been an hour or so since it started and it's not even half way done. When this download is finished will i get the option to partition or will i just be faced with those same options?
I am on a 13" macbook pro, with apple OS X snow leopard version 10.7.2
A lot of the data on this macbook was transferred over from my old macbook i had.
Any ideas on how to fix this problem?
    Thank you for reading.

Well thank you for your honesty.  Apple requires you have to have a Mac to develop iPhone apps, ergo my foray into OS-Xland. No way around it that one except for running OSX in a VM, which would have probably saved me some quid, true enough.
BUT for those interested parties: VirtualBox has a startup script in /Library/StartupItems/VirtualBox that will prevent OSX from fully booting on the initial (and required) rEFIt boot cycle. Once I temporarily moved that out of the StartupItems rEFIt went in as expected.
FYI, the openSUSE desktop running native is a little peppier than OSX native which was a nice surprise.  Now if the Mac just had more open source software we would have a deal. (:

  • ErrorCan't install Windows Support Software because it is not currently available from the Software Update server.

When I try to install bootcamp I get the above error. I have OS X 10.7.4 and intel 2.16 Ghz core 2 duo chip.  I am not connected to a network.  None of the proxy servers are checked.  I have restared the assistant twice and get the same error.

the question has been asked multiple times today, this week, for over a year, and even in the last hour. the answer does not change? It does get rather old for some of us who see the same question day and month after month.
It is and has been deplorable and has not been officially addressed or acknowleged. To the best of my knowledge this you can do, besides keep retrying -

create a Windows support software (drivers) CD or USB storage media

Boot in Safe Mode and try to download the Windows Support Software and follow these tips:
Advanced Network: Proxy Settings, I uncheck "Auto Proxy detection" and make sure you have the interface you use selected and none others.
"Go into System Preferences - Network - Advanced - Proxies  Uncheck "Auto Proxy Discovery", click OK, Apply"
After Unchecking "Auto Proxy Discovery" I also had to Uncheck "Use Passive FTP Mode (PASV)" and then Restart Boot Camp Assistant.
odiggy's comment and tried restarting Boot Camp Assistant. That did the trick, even though the Auto Proxy Discovery checkbox ended up the same as it started.  Windows support software is now downloading...  if you're downloading to an external drive make sure there's a least 1 GB of free space because the WindowsSupport folder is around 700 MB and presumably will grow with time.

Also, Change Domain Name Servers to OpenDNS IP address servers - that should be at the router firewall rather than the OS but may be in both for some people. You may be using the defaults your ISP uses, save those if you want, and try these:
    208.67.222.222
    208.67.220.220
Make sure you are not using LittleSnitch or Symantec (probably other 3rd party firewall) which do interfere, a Safe Boot should bypass their loading also - there are other products that interfere as well and some now with Mountain Lion.

  • How do I download the Windows Support Software for MacBook Mid-2010 ?

Hey guys, I've got quite a big problem at the moment... In December, I bought a MacBook7,1 (the Mid-2010 Unibody model) and used my OS X install disc whenever I wanted to install Windows XP/Vista/7 drivers to my Boot Camp partition. However, I've recently got quite a bit of a problem...
See, I can't find my OS X Install Disc. So I have to use, from within the Boot Camp Assistant, the "Download the Windows support software for this Mac" function, to be able to burn to DVD/install to a USB stick.
Now, this function up until recently used to work completely fine - no issues at all. However I need to reinstall my Windows 7  (again, I know, Windows has quite a few problems but I really do need to use it for what I do - gaming, etc) again, and whenever I try this option in the last... week, I'd wager, it comes up with "Download could not be continued" and "The Windows Support Software is unavailable" errors.
I've checked on this forum and some people are saying that Apple removed the support software for some Macintosh computers? What on Earth? What about us lot who don't have our OS X install discs anymore?! I don't think it's fair they've specifically gimped a functionality that was working fine until a bit ago for no apparent reason. It's just... stopped working. Is this for everyone?
Is there some alternative I can use? I've tried everything. I don't have someone I could just borrow the OS X install disc from and I think it's rather unfair if they expect to me to shell out for an OS X install disc again when I could previously do what I wanted for free!!!

The point isn't whether I lost them, the point is that I was able to use the Boot Camp Assistant previously fine to download the Win Support Software and put that on a USB stick (which has since been formatted for other usage).
Since this was made available as an option, I haven't really had much need for the OS X install discs (Unless I really, really needed to reinstall OS X at some point but I have no reason to fear that right?). To claim this being "okay" because I've misplaced the discs is rather outrageous.

  • How Can I Download 'Windows Support Software' after Boot Camp Install of XP?

I successfully ran Boot Camp and installed WinXP SP3 on my son's 2009 MBP, which is currently running OSX 10.6.8. We were prompted to download the Windows support software, and said 'yes', but it would not allow us to download anything.
Is there a website we could download the 'Windows support software' directly from?
As a result--I think this is due to lack of 'Windows support software'--we are unable to connect to our wireless network for internet while on the WinXP partition.
At this point he cannot locate the original disk that came with his MBP. I'm wondering if that original disk would even be appropriate, since his MBP came with 10.5 originally. He is on his 3d hard drive (Applecare!) and they loaded 10.6.8 this last time.
    Thanks,
    Greg

10.5 OEM or retail DVD is the best and maybe only place to get XP 2.x drivers to get you started so you can then update Boot Camp support drivers to 2.2.
Replacement OEM DVD from Apple - call - are probably $10-20.
There were Boot Camp 2.1 and 2.2 direct downloads, just not for the 2.0.x that you need first to get started. Weird method. Posting seems to antathema.
I deleted my old bookmarks but those drivers were found from support page:

  • Blue screen while installing Boot Camp support software in Win7 Ultimate x64

2012 macbook pro with OSX Mavericks. Installing Win7 ultimate x64 using boot camp assistant and a USB drive went flawlessly. Then I downloaded and installed the boot camp support software from support.apple.com/kb/DL1638
Running setup.exe bluescreens my computer and makes the windows partition unbootable after that, even in safe mode. I performed a system restore to roll back the boot camp software and booted again, and checked the log file. It pointed to an intel USB driver. I then deleted IntelxHCI from the Drivers/Intel folder, ran setup.exe again, and everything installed perfectly.
My question is: what is the Intel usb 3 extensible host controller, why is it included in the support software, and why does it immediately brick my Windows partition?

I have re-installed Windows 7 about 20 times already, I am experiencing the same problem as you are. The issue must be some kind of driver being installed by Boot Camp. When I leave my fresh Windows 7 install with no Boot Camp, the error or blue screen never occurs. This is weird.
    Help please Apple...
