Hewlett Packard Elite Display E271i LED Blacklit Monitor _flickerin

Dear HP Team,
I have a new
Hewlett Packard Elite Display E271i LED Blacklit Monitor. It is plugged via HDMI cable and a Mini Video Port adapter to my mac book pro _ Version Mac OSX 10.7.5.
This is now already the 2nd monitor I got, the first one had on the 2nd day a flickering view and I sent it back to the shop I bought it from.
The new one had today - the 2nd day working with him - the flickering again, short but still it is not possible working during that period - I plugged everything out and it worked again.
Since during this phase I cannot really work on graphic work, it is very anoying.
Is there a reset or how can I handle this problem when it appears again.
Thanks for help! Dinah

Hi,
Can you try to connect the monitor on another pc and see if you still see any flickering?
Maybe the problem could be the miniport-to-hdmi adapter.
I had the same setup as you (adapter + macbook pro connected to monitor). The adapter stopped working after some time.

  • HP E271i LED backlit monitor backlight not on // IS NOW FLICKERNIG

    Hi!
I have a HP E27i monitor. Received it yesterday and it was working fine, but as I came to turn it on today the backlight doesn't seem to turn on. Under a bright light there is a very dim image of my desktop and I have tried connecting the monitor to another computer - same result.
    All the best
    Tanel

It has just been sitting there, powered on for a while. As I moved the mouse the picture got slightly brighter and is flickering. This is a new development.

The PC is a HP Elite Desk 800 G1 SFF and the monitor is a HP Elite Display E231 .
I have updated the drivers, changed the registry, amended the resolution, and asjusted the performance settings as per this link, but still no joy.

    Dear Customer,
Welcome and Thank you for posting your query on HP Support Forum
It looks like you are facing difficulties with the Display Driver which is not working correctly
We will surely assist you with this issue
Firstly I would like to let you know that this issue is related to the graphics system. When system memory is running low and Windows is unable to allocate video memory, Windows closes and then restarts the program to avoid a failure
The following solutions/steps shown below can help reduce or eliminate this error in the future, but the error can still occur when system memory resources get low
    Step 1: Restarting the computer
If the error is currently open, shut down, and then restart the computer. Doing so clears out the memory addresses and prepares the computer for further troubleshooting.
Step 2: Closing all other programs
Other programs that are running in the background might take up needed system resources. To increase available system resources, shut down any other programs and apps, except for the program or app that you are currently using.
Step 3: Updating the graphics driver
Update the graphics driver for your specific computer model
The latest NVidia driver can be downloaded here: http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx
The latest AMD driver can be downloaded here: http://support.amd.com/en-us/download
The Intel Download Center can be found here: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/default.aspx
NOTE: One or more of the previous links take you outside the Hewlett-Packard website. HP does not control and is not responsible for information outside the HP website
After downloading the driver, perform the action that you were doing when the error first occurred
For Example: Playing a game or Watching a movie, just to test if the error reoccurs.
If these steps resolved the issue, you do not need to continue troubleshooting. If the issue persists, continue to the next solution.
    Step 4: Updating Windows
    Download updates for Windows 8
Install any available updates, and then perform the action that you were doing when the error first occurred
For Example: Playing a game or Watching a movie, just to test if the error reoccurs.
Step 5: Adjusting visual effects in Windows
To adjust your computer for better performance, disable some or all of the visual effects.
    Adjusting visual effects
Complete the following steps to adjust your visual effects for best performance.
From the Start screen, press the Windows + Q keys, and then type file explorer.
Select File Explorer from the search results.
Select the Computer tab, and then click Properties.
In the left-hand column, click Advanced System Settings.
    Under Performance, click Settings.
    Adjust for best performance.
Click Apply, and then click OK.
Now perform the action that you were doing when the error first occurred like Playing a game or Watching a movie, just to test if the error reoccurs.
If these steps resolved the issue, you do not need to continue troubleshooting. If the issue persists, continue to the next solution.
    Adjusting screen resolution
Complete the following steps to adjust the resolution to the appropriate setting.
On the desktop screen, right-click the lower-left corner, and then select Control Panel.
In Category View mode, under Appearance and Personalization, select Adjust screen resolution.
Click the Resolution drop-down menu, and then move the slider down to lower the screen resolution as needed.
After selecting your desired resolution, click Apply, and then click OK.
Select Log off now. The computer logs off. Restart the computer.
When the computer restarts, perform the action that you were doing when the error first occurred, for example, playing a game or watching a movie, to test if the error reoccurs.
If these steps resolved the issue, you do not need to continue troubleshooting. If the issue persists, continue to the next solution.
Step 6: Adjusting the settings within the game or program
Adjusting the settings within the game, such as reducing anti-aliasing or screen resolution lowers the quality of the graphics, but it makes graphics card-related errors less likely.
If the error only occurs when using one specific game or program, update the features of the game or program from within the program itself, or go to the manufacturer's support website to download and install any relevant updates. After the updates are installed, restart the computer.
After the computer restarts, perform the action that you were doing when the error first occurred, for example, playing a game or watching a movie, to test if the error reoccurs.
If these steps resolved the issue, you do not need to continue troubleshooting. If the issue persists, continue to the next solution.
    Step 7: Improving system performance
Increase the overall performance of your computer. There are many things you can do to improve system performance like upgrading Memory (RAM) or Increasing System Performance Without Adding Memory (Windows 8)
Step 8: Increasing the GPU processing time
When the video adapter hardware or a driver on your computer takes longer than expected to complete an operation, Windows attempts to recover and reset the graphics hardware. If the Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) is unable to recover and reset the graphics hardware within two seconds, the system becomes unresponsive and one of the error messages displays.
Follow these steps to adjust the registry value in the Registry Editor and give the Timeout Detection and Recovery feature more time to complete an operation.
    Close all programs.
From the Windows desktop, press the Windows + R keys to open the Run dialog box.
Type regedit in the Open field, and then click OK.
From the list of results, select regedit.exe. If prompted, type your administrator password.
Click HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, and then click SYSTEM.
Click CurrentControlSet, and then click Control.
    Click GraphicsDrivers.
Click Edit, click New, and then click either DWORD (32-bit) or DWORD (64-bit) depending your operating system.
Under Name, type TdrDelay, and then press Enter.
Double-click TdrDelay, and then type 8 for the Value data and click OK.
Close the registry editor, and then restart your computer.
Step 9: Perform an HP System Recovery
If the error has not been resolved after increasing the GPU processing time, perform a system recovery.
After performing the previous steps, the error message should not occur as frequently. Perform the action that you were doing when the error first occurred, for example, playing a game or watching a movie, to test if the error reoccurs.
If errors continue to occur, replace the graphics card or add memory. Some computers, such as HP TouchSmarts, do
not have a removable graphics card. Check your product specifications to see if the graphics card is removable.
If the graphics card is removable, please visit the HP Self-Repair media library  for steps on how to replace the graphics card on your computer.
If the graphics card is not removable, contact HP about replacing your computer.

This copy of Windows is not genuine
Dear HP (Assuming I am speaking to HP directly)
I have an HP Pavilion purchased about 2 years ago (a birthday present from my wife). It came with Windows 7 Home Premium pre-installed and disc but with no disc key code. I was having problems with the system running extremely slow so I took it to Staples tech people. They kept it for 4 days, tried everything but nothing worked. They suggested I purchase an external hard drive and transfer all my files, etc. to same which I did but my computer still ran slowly. Thus, out frustration and after spending $300 for tech services and external hard drive, I decide just to install the Windows 7 disc that came with the computer. This, of course, started me back to square one … I had to start as though it was a new computer with no personal saved files, etc.
I seemed to get everything back to normal and had no “slow running” issues. Then, a message started popping up that my version of Windows was not genuine. I searched my computer, found the presumed key code and entered it but it was and continues to be rejected as not valid no matter what I do. Since the time to valid has expired, my Windows screen is black, the clock is always wrong and other annoying things won’t work.
I called your support line and got the runaround. Eventually, my line with your representatives, before I had a solution, was disconnected and I was not about to go through that HELL again. Searching the Web, I was advised that this was a HP issue that you could resolve. If not, Microsoft wants me to spend $150 for another Windows 7 program. After adding up all my expenses thus far to fix my original “slow” problem,  I could have bought a brand new computer and I am not going to waste any more of my money. This is why I am so angry and have made my anger known to all my Facebook friends.
Below, I have copied and pasted all the information I was able to gather from my computer operating system, computer battery and Windows information. If you can help me, it would certainly be appreciated and change my opinion of HP which I will immediately make known to my Facebook friends and remove any negative comments I have made about HP.
WHAT'S THIS YOU WROTE? I STILL HAVE NO ANSWERS TO MY PROBLEM. INCREDIBLE!!!

WANT TO KNOW WHY HEWLETT PACKARD ROYALLY PISSES ME OFF? You have a computer problem and you call their HELP SUPPORT LINE.  This takes you somewhere to the far side of the earth. The FIRST CLOWN who answers, AFTER collecting all your personal information, product information, product codes, serial numbers, etc. and, AFTER having you explain your problem in minute detail, tells you he has to transfer you to a DIFFERENT department. AFTER BEING TRANSFERRED, the SECOND CLOWN, AGAIN, AFTER collecting all your personal information, product information, product codes, serial numbers, etc. and, AFTER again explaining your problem, tells you he has to transfer you to YET ANOTHER department. FOLLOWING SEVERAL MORE REPEATS OF THE SAME ORDEAL AND TALKING TO MANY CLOWNS, all the while praying you don’t get cut off and have to start the entire hellish process anew, you finally reach who you hope to be THE MAIN CLOWN who will finally resolve your problem with THE PRODUCT YOU PURCHASED FROM THEM. DOES HE HELP? HELL NO! He says you need to call some other manufacturer or you have to purchase something from them to correct the problem or you have to pay them to give you their support. SO, you have wasted your ENTIRE day on the phone talking to ALIEN CLOWNS who have been leading you around in circles like an elephant in a circus holding the tail of the elephant in front of him, getting no solution to your problem and trying to communicate with CLOWNS who speak unintelligible English. WELL, the irony is, ALL these “CLOWNS” have made you the BIGGEST CLOWN OF THEM ALL andall you are left with is: “Thanks for calling Hewlett Packard and have a nice day”.

  • ATI & Hewlett-Packard

WHY does HP need to know about my video card problems, I have a Toshiba Satellite.  However, I've received the following error message:
    Consider sending additional information
ATI display driver has stopped working properly.
At this time, we don't know the exact cause of this problem. Hewlett-Packard is interested in gathering additional feedback.
Please visit the Hewlett-Packard website to provide information about the problem:

HP has been useless to me in recent months.  If anything, they have been beneath useless, so badly that I will never do business with them again.  At any rate, why do they need my information?  I have done a corporate search on ATI and it is owned by AMD and absolutely no mention of HP in corporate holdings.  Can anybody shed some light on this for me?
    Thank you.

The error message comes from Windows, so I would assume that HP contacted Microsoft and had them include that message in an update. It may be possible that some of their systems are having a problem with that hardware, and they are trying to collect data on it.

  • Dual Montior setup for x2401 LED Backlit Monitor

I just purchased two x2401 LED Backlit monitors.  They are connected via  Lenovo dual display adapter to my Dell OptePlex 3020.  Both montiors are recognized as Display 1.  I have gone to the control panel and attempted to set-up one monitor as the main monitor and the other as an extention.  That didn't work.  Right now the samethings is on both montiors.  Sort of defeats the purpose of two monitors.
Anyone know how to have the monitors recognized as different?
    Thanks.

    Hi Georgia-Dee,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I have read your post on attempting to connect your two x2401 LED backlit monitors to your computer, and I would be happy to assist you!
To begin, I recommend following this document on Using Two or More Monitors with One Computer (Windows 8). This should help with setting up dual monitors correctly.
Please re-post with the results of your troubleshooting, and I look forward to your reply!

  • Samsung Professional Display 40" LED LFD inquiry

I  recently acquired a Samsung Professional Display 40" LED LFD as a gift from my future father in law. He said he had no use for it as he recently upgraded to a multi-screen command center.
The upsetting part is he never used it, and its new in the box.
What I wanna know is what its worth and where/how can I sell it?
I have no use for it, I've got plenty of HD screens in my house and I dont own a desktop for it either.
The part number on it is ME40C, in my research, all I can find are ME40A's and ME40B's.
ME is the series, 40 is the size(40") and the nomenclature on the end is for generation, I suppose?
It's got all the original packaging and heck, the remotes and cords are still in their bags from the box.
Anyone got any idea what its worth?

If you sold it, you could probably get $500 for it if you were lucky. NOBODY is going to pay you the MSRP for that thing or anywhere near it because it's grossly overpriced for what it is. The problem is that it is a professional/industrial display that is more or less a low-end HDTV with PC inputs and some other stuff that isn't found in HDTVs and nobody really wants or needs those things. Even media professionals don't buy those displays as they prefer actual HDTVs.
These aren't meant for media professionals, they're meant for public displays. These are the monitors you'll see in airports, storefronts, kiosks etc... The RS-232 and ethernet ports in the back are used with the Samsung MDC software for video walls. This model is going for about $800.00 on Ebay.
Media Professionals don't use HDTV's either. They use reference monitors that can run anywhere from a just over a thousand for a 20" LCD to over forty thousand for over 40".

Which is the cable for Elite Displays and performance displays that allows the highest screen resolution and is not included by default in the monitors box?

  • What do i need to connect my 30" cinema display as a second monitor to my new 27" imac?

I recently purchased a new iMac and want to run my 30" cinema display as a second monitor. My local mac experts told me to use a mini display to dvi adaptor, but that didn't work for any of my cinema displays - the 30" that i want to use and a 21" that I have. I called the guys back up and after a little research, he told me to get a mini display port to dual link dvi adapter. This costs $99, so I want to be sure it's going to work.
Does anyone know if this will work, or if there is a better idea, or ****, does the new iMac even except a 2nd monitor.
Thanks. Looking forward to your input.

Well I may have heard wrong, but I do not believe that you can hook that 6 year old monitor to the latest 27" iMacs with ThunderBolt. I would do more research before putting out the bucks, or make sure that you can return it if it does not work.
But do let us know if you try it and it works.

  • How to connect a cinema display and a VGA monitor to mac mini

I bought a Macmini and want to connect to a cnema display and to a monitor that uses VGA connection. I also bought a MiniDisplayPort to VGA adapter but the MacMini only has ONE Minidisplay port.  I thought this would be more straitforward....

I'm unsure of the issue, the Mini has both mDP and HDMI outputs, right? If so, the mDP for the Cinema Display an a HDMI to VGA adapter for the 2nd monitor.

  • I am stumped I do not understand why my roommates macbook pro when duel screened will display perfectly on my monitor while mine refuses to, but mine will display perfectly when using another monitor that is not mine. Please help me out.

One day when using my duel display the second monitor decided it wouldn't display at full resolution in the middle of doing something i was confused. I use a mini display to hdmi then hdmi to the second monitor. I thought maybe the converter or cable died. I bought another another mini display to hdmi and tried another hdmi cord and the same issue. My roommate has macbook pro as well so i decided to see if it was the monitor, when i pluged the mini display converter into his and used the external monitor it displayed perfectly not below resolution. Doing this I knew it was not the monitor or the mini display to hdmi or the hdmi cable. I took it into the genuis bar assuming now that it was my grapics card or logic board. When the genuis went to duel screen it on a cinema display it displayed perfectly. So went home tried to duel screen it again and still not displaying at full resolution. That is where I am stuck, in summary:
My screen used to display perfect resolution on a second monitor and suddenly did not.
Tested two mini display to hdmi and hdmi cords both were fine.
Tested to see if monitor was issue but displayed perfectly when i used roommates laptop.
Went to genius bar and displayed perfectly on second monitor so it can display perfect resolution on apples monitors but will not do so anymore on my monitor, even though roommates macbook pro will display perfect resolution on my monitor.
    I am beyond confused.

Apparently you have tried everything except - take the monitor in question to the Apple Store along with your computer.  If it works there, the mystery continues.

  • Is it possible to use the iMac display as en external monitor?

I want to connect my powerbook up to an iMac using the display as an external monitor for the laptop. Is this even possible? Any feedback would be appreciated.

    Hello,
I've seen this post at least a hundred times. Has
anyone actually had the gusto to try this idea?
I don't remember where the page was. But, I posted it's link several months ago in the forums during another discussion.
But, the guy who had done it to his iMac G3 had very poorly documented his conversion.
Basically, he took and wired signal to same signal on the monitor, and adapted his power supply and other items to work properly in the modified setup.
So, it is possible. You just need to sit down with the schematics and wire signal to same signal, and make sure you account for all the variables. It may take some resistors, etc. to get the adaptation just right.
I don't have any reason to do it myself, so I'm not going to tinker with it.
If I remembered the link, I'd post it. But, it wouldn't do much good anyway since his HTML formatting was severely messed-up. The end-result was accurate information that was scrambled around on the screen in such a way that you couldn't decipher it anyway. If he had done the HTML work properly, it would be in a formatted table. But, instead the information was scattered all over the screen in an illogical format. So, it wasn't of much real use.
