Hey Apple! You bricked my locked iPhone

I did the 1.1.1 update and it failed. I keep getting SIM errors even though my phone is locked. If this was just an iPod, it would have been OK, but this is a phone which in my eyes is a necessity. (I know people in 3rd world countries are going to have my *** for that). What can be done to fix it? Can I reinstall the 1.0.2 update? Thanks in advance.

I would not wait for the update. Call Apple or go to one of their stores and get it resolved. I mean you did not try to unlock it..... and you are paying for a service that you are not getting.

I just got an apple tv and it dosen't work at all. I tried to use the home share feature with my iMac and both devices don't see each other, yet they are o the same network. I am not using a apple router. I tried updating the apple tv to see if that would resolve the issue but now the status light just blinks rapidly. I tried using itunes restore it but all i get is an unknown error. So with all of this said what is the fix apple?

Only the provider can unlock the phone and pass the unlock info to Apple. This info will be added to a database and you'll be able to use another SIM when you connect to iTunes after you have been notified that the phone is now unlocked.

It's a scam. ONLY the carrier it is locked to can authorize unlocking. Don't buy it.

If you wanted to use the phone internationally, you should have gotten an unlocked phone. You are stuck with AT&T.

Only the original cellular provider can authorize unlocking. You will need to contact them to determine if they offer unlocking and if the phone qualifies.

You can buy an unlocked iPhone at any of the 5 Apple stores in NYC. All are open on Sunday. Note a couple of things, however:
US iPhone 5's will work on 3G in the rest of the world, but not on LTE because the US phones use different channels than other countries
Be sure you say "unlocked", not "no contract"
If it breaks it must be returned to a US store for repair, and if shipped to Apple it must be from and to a US address

Should I wait for a IOS 8.3.1 update or reset my phone to factory and start over?

I've tried everything else to fix the problems I'm having. Soft restart. Hard restart. Used your chat line. Called Verizon. Reset network settings.... Help!!!!!
I've posted on the Apple Communities about all this and I've sent in a couple of bug reports.
I live up in the mountains and MUST be able to access my Verizon LTE for information if there is a fire! I'm in California!

I have a Verizon iPhone 6 and am having none of those problems.

Didn't they already have you do that? If you haven't, yes, you should restore your phone as new and test.

This is a user forum. You aren't talking to Apple here.
Return your iPhone for a refund. There is no way to remove the Activation Lock. Apple won't get involved.
