Hey CL, Audigy 2ZS need beta drivers/Crackling problem fixed t

 Owners of Audigy 2ZS need beta driver and or fix for the crackling and popping audio problems to. My system is: ASUS A8V with latest official BIOS, ATI x850 Pro, WD SATA 250GHD, AMD A64 3700, 2x52 twinx Corsair matched memory, Antech true power 2.0, 500 Watts. I have all the latest drivers and I am running XP pro SP2. I to have the bad audio when playing games such as BF2, COD2 and UT2004. I also have bad audio when playing music through WINAMP and surfing the internet. I have no IRQ conflicts and have the beta drivers for the Audigy installed. I can reduce/eliminate the amount of popping/crackling by going into my BIOS, then save and exit.Message Edited by Dirty_Harry on 06-07-2006 09:55 AM

No it does not, as long as you do as follows: (Instructions are copied over from my previous posts on the subject)
How to manually change the Windows HAL:
Use the following command: "expand d:\i386\halacpi.dl_ c:\windows\system32\hal.dll"
Whereas: <EM>d:</EM> is your CD-ROM letter, or where you Windows XP Installation resides.
halacpi.dl_ can be any of the following depending on what you want to install:
"Standard PC", Non-ACPI PIC HAL (<EM>Hal.dll</EM>)</LI>
"MPS Uniprocessor PC", Non-ACPI APIC UP HAL (<EM>Halapic.dl_</EM>)</LI>
"MPS Multiprocessor PC", Non-ACPI APIC MP HAL (<EM>Halm
ps.
dl_</EM>)</LI>
"Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI) PC", ACPI PIC HAL (<EM>Halacpi.dl_</EM>)</LI>
"ACPI Uniprocessor PC", ACPI APIC UP HAL (<EM>Halaacpi.dl_</EM>)</LI>
"ACPI Multiprocessor PC", ACPI APIC MP HAL (<EM>Halmacpi.dl_</EM>)
</LI>
Offcourse, the HAL you should change to is Standard PC. You will lose Dual Core or HT support in the process, but I strongly believe it can help. As per above, you can switch back to your previous HAL without reinstalling. You will be most prolably asked for the drivers of your devices, but on my setup, it didn't, as they were already stored in Windows' System Folders.

  • Audigy 2 ZS beta drivers a step backwar

OK. My Audigy 2 ZS was working fine with the previous Beta drivers.
I was then forced to upgrade to the latest ones, and now Vista won't start up. It goes through the bootup process but instead of displaying the round Vista logo, it resets and goes back to the checking memory bit.
I have had to uninstall them via Safe-mode to get my OS to work.
While I'm not against upgrading to the latest drivers, Creative should at least allow the previous ones to work until rather than completely disabling them after a certain date.
I have logged the issue with Creative but just received the standard "we are too busy to respond individually" reply.
Has anyone else experienced this Vista problem or know of any workarounds?

  • Hey guys i really need help with this problem...

Hey guys how is everyone? I have a Soundblaster X-Fi XtremeMusic. and i am having a real annoying problem, here is how it all started. I took the time and dusted out my computer by using a can of air duster, and i think a little got on there and it turned into frost. Weird thing is it happened before and i never had this problem. I turn my computer on and crank the volume up i receive no sound what so ever. I know it has to work because i have a pair of DJ headset hooked into the jack, and i heard a little pop sound. And no audio, every last port on the card i cannot get no sound out of it except one of them, it's really annoying i hate this doing this and i have to hook my 5.1 using one jack just to get sound. And it doesnt sound good i have some really powerful 1,000 watt speakers with 2 amps. I know this is yet due to the fact i only have the lime jack in This is the only way it'll work. And i have a THX cable and it works sometime. I hope my soundcard isnt messed up. I really hope you guys can help me with this issue. I cannot contact creative cust service via email because i dont have my box no more, and my serial number is faded on the card (i think that was the serial)
I try to explain the best way i can describe it. Below is my System Specs.
    <pre>Processor: AMD Athlon X3 425 @ 2.7GHz
Video Card: ATI HD 5770 1GB

    Hello
Thank you for your help but unfortunately still have troubles with the soundcard.
    I upgraded my system to
RAM: Corsair Vengeance LP 16GB DDR3
Processor: AMD Phenom II X6 1090T Processor, Black Edition 3.3GHz

Sound Card: Creative Labs Soundblaster X-FI Titanium Fatal1ty Professional (getting this soon)
Motherboard: ASUS M4A79XTD EVO (BIOS: 2102)
DVD Drive(s): Plextor DVD-RW/DL/ Sony DVD-ROM Drive via PATA connections
And i still run into problems i think its a matter of a hardware issue. The plugs dont really work
only one does (where lime goes in) And the bass has toned down as well... Isn't as powerful
as it used to be, so my best be is to upgrade to Creative Labs Soundblaster X-FI Titanium Fatal1ty Professional
    Thats my only hope...
But again thank you for your help

  • Frustrated with Audigy 2zs drivers

"Frustrated with Audigy 2zs drivers\ Hi,
I really need some help with drivers for my Aud 2 ZS Plant card as i am very frustrated. A couple of months ago I reformatted my HD and subsequently re-installed all my drivers. When I was ready to install my soundcard drivers\software I could not find my installization disc as I moved to a new place 6 months ago and I guess they got lost in the unpacking. Since then I have tried to find drivers for my card and in the process have?used 3rd party drivers ie. KX, PAX, and daniel_k but could not get them working or they (KX) were hard to understand. Anyway, I am to the point now that I just want to have sound with functioning software where I can get back to doing some hobbyist home recording as I did before with orginal drivers. In saying that, can anyone please point me in the direction to find the most up to date drivers for my card? Iam running WIN XP Pro sp3. I am to the point now that I want to take the card and front dri've bay out of my system, chuck it, and go and buy a $20.00 generic card.
    Help would be much appreciated.
    Tappy

If you want the latest drivers I'd use Dan K's if I were. None of the old software works with the latest drivers so you're kinda stuffed. Dan K's are based on the 2.8.000 drivers which are the second to latest drivers available. Don't use the 2.8.00 drivers - they cause more problems than they solve.
Before installing any more drivers/software it might be an idea to make sure there's nothing left of any previous drivers you've tried to install. Could be what's causing the problems.
This is how I remove my drivers. May seam a little convoluted but in your case it may prove useful to be as thorough as possible.
You'll need Driver Sweeper, and CCleaner, 7Zip and Dan K's Audigy Support Pack 2.0 (if you don't already have them).
Download these and install; Driver Sweeper, CCleaner and 7Zip.
Now you need to extract all the files out of Dan K's support pack, which should be an *.exe file. You need what's inside that *.exe file. After installing 7Zip, you should see a new 7Zip options menu when you right click on files or folders?
Click on it and then select Extract files to Audigy Support Pack... or something similar. Don't just select Extract files.
Inside the new folder that should have appeared after 7Zip extracted everything, you'll see another folder named Drivers.
Copy this folder to your desktop.
Now reboot and start Windows in safe mode.
Click Start then Run and type cmd.exe to open a command prompt, then type (minus quotes):
    " takeown /f C:\Windows\*.cdf " and hit enter, then:
" cacls C:\Windows\*.cdf /G *insert your logon name*:F " and select Y and hit enter again.
You can now close down that command prompt window.
Go in to the Drivers folder you copied to your desktop and run Setup.exe and this should appear:
    <img border="0" src="http://theliability.googlepages.com/creative_uninstaller.png">
Select the same options as above and click OK and let it do it's thing - when it says reboot your PC click No or Cancel.
Now run Driver Sweeper and do a scan for all Creative drivers then click Clean.
Don't worry if it says things like file doesn't exist or some other error msg. It'll still get a few things.
No load up Add or Remove Programs (personally I prefer Revo Uninstaller) and remove anything related to Creative.
Finally load CCleaner and scan/clean your registery.
Reboot back in to normal Windows.
And that's it. A tedious process I know, but it's the only way I've found of properly stripping CLs drivers out.
You'll know if it's worked because when you now go and install Dan K's pack the installer should just run straight through. When there's still driver remnants the installer always says it's found previous drivers and need to uninstall them and reboot.
tbh I recommend running through this process regardless of wether or not your choose to stick with the old drivers or go with the newer ones.
Creative's drivers are infamous i'm afraid and at least after this your PC should be relati'vely clear or remnants.

  • Vista Drivers for the Audigy 2ZS Video Editor

OK, so I know I'm only one of 20 people in the world who were ever stupid enough to buy one; but I am disappointed to see that there is so far no Vista beta driver support for the device.
Are there plans to ever support it under Vista?
As half of the internals are an Audigy 2ZS sound card for which Creative are developing Vista drivers, the job is surely half done? Modifying the existing USB video capture driver surely can't be too difficult?
Must say, that if this device is ignored under Vista, it will be the last Creative product I ever buy .....
    Nigel

I wish someone from Creative would give a definiti've answer to this question.
I've had the Video Editor for about a year so it's hardly old technology, and Vista was in development last Summer. The Audigy ZS sound drivers are being developed for Vista, how diffcult can it be to get the Video drivers modified to run under Vista?

  • 2.08.0002 Beta Drivers will not install on Audigy 2 Platinum

I am attempting to install the new beta drivers (SBA2_PCDrvBeta_LB_2_08_0002.exe) to gain OpenAL support and better Battlefield 2 performance but I have not been able to. Upon installing the drivers, the system will freeze. I have left it for over an hour, and it remains frozen. On occasion, the installation would work, but then would freeze after I log in again after the reboot. Only way to recover is to reboot in safemode and remove the drivers.
I have tried removing the old drivers entirely (and cleaned the system with Driver Cleaner Pro). I have also tried extracting the driver set and letting windows do the installation, and I have also tried running the secondary setup.exe installer in the driver directory. I also tried changing my video driver, in case that was causing a conflict. Each installtion instance began with all of the Creative-related drivers cleaned by Driver Cleaner Pro.
I checked my msinfo32 and there are no IRQ conflicts or sharing related to the Audigy 2. Overall, I think I have attempted this installation about 5 times.

    *bump*
    Any ideas guys?

Specs:Intel Celeron D @ 2.93 ghzAsus P4S800D-XSB Audigy 2 ZSXFX GeForce 6600GT430W CoolerMaster2 x 52MB Kington?I recently upgraded my motherboard to the one listed above and now after installing my Audigy 2ZS card, my computer locks up during games after about 5-0 minutes of gameplay (sound cracks and/or loops)... I cannot even receive an error message or no minidump is reported. I have tried a million and one things to correct the problem including many of the methods here in Creative's KnowledgeBase. When my Audigy card simply sits in one of the pci slots in my mobo...this dreadful symptom?occurs. Even if no drivers are installed and it is disabled, the problem occurs. I've tried moving the card around from slot to slot...and I know its not sharing it IRQ... I've done everything I can think of and posted on many forums with no luck... If anyone knows anything about this...plz helpI appreciate any feedback.

  • New Audigy Beta Drivers did they add EAX 4.0 to an Audigy 1 Platinum

    Hello,
does the new Audigy Beta Drivers add EAX 4.0 Support to an Audigy Platinum ?
    Greetings Picard007

Audigy (hardware base one) supports EAX3 (EAX Advanced HD) hardware. Audigy2 suports EAX4 hardware. EAX4 is supported with latest OpenAL drivers on compatible hardware.
    More: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Environ...dio_extensions
    Quote:
EAX has nothing to do with actual 3D audio positioning. Positioning is done by Microsoft's DirectSound3D API. An alternati've to DirectSound3D, called Open Audio Library (OpenAL), surfaced in 2003 in several titles. OpenAL allows direct hardware acceleration of audio, like DirectSound, including EAX. As of 2006, the API has been used in many popular titles including Doom 3 and Prey. These games support EAX 4.0 if audio hardware with an OpenAL-supporting driver is present.
Most releases of EAX versions coincide with increases in the number of simultaneous voices processible in hardware by the audio processor: the original EAX .0 supports 8 voices, EAX 2.0 allows 32 (Li've!), EAX Advanced HD (EAX 3.0) supports 64 (Audigy), EAX 4.0 again supports 64 (Audigy 2), and EAX 5.0 allows 28 voices (and up to 4 effects applied to each) (X-Fi).

  • Anyone got their Audigy 2ZS working on Vista Beta

I tried just about everything,, including the NGO Modded drivers, the Vista Beta drivers provided by Creative, the original Win XP driver, NOTHING WORKED? any suggestions, i heard some people got theirs working..

you CAN get it to work, BUT ONLY on a 32 bit version..., just install ngo modded driver then or the original xp drivers (via device manager --> update drivers --> browse my pc --> cd rom dri've (with cd-rom from soundcard in it) then it should work but you get THE most desasterous sound ever (see new topic made by me)
i repeat, you can't let them work on a 64 bit edition!!

  • Midi/audio sync prob after sblive to audigy 2zs upgrade

Have posted the following earlier today in Soundblaster forum - then thought it may be better off here.....
Hi all - have just had to quickly buy new soundcard as main line-out on sblive gave up the ghost, after years of no probs. Bought Audigy 2zs, as thought this would not be too much of a shock for ageing AMDk6 450mhz running Win98se. (Am waiting for new pc music system.) Installed Audigy, using 1xm1n's excellent set-up guide, and thought everything was ok. However, when running sequencer, the midi tracks are fine, while the audio slowly goes out of sync. Can anybody explain what's happening? Would not normally panic, and wait for new pc, but have a deadline to finish project for the Barmy Army !!
Seriously thinking of reinstalling sblive, and using the rear line-outs to monitor on - but line-in & mic will then not work. Also was hoping the Audigy ASIO drivers would let me do the final mix in Cubase.
Did I mention the odd crackle & pop....? .....Aaaaaaargh!!
    Regards.

    Jason,
Yes I tried pulling card. What has happened.
. Card was "re-found" by windows for no reason which started the problems.
    2. I deleted driver in control panel, shutdown and pulled card, rebooted again with no card.
    3. Put the card back and rebooted again and at that point it showed as Audigy ZS, although it did not look like all functionality was there as before.
    4. So I installed the new January 06 drivers. Seemed to go okay.
    5. Upon reboot, came up as Creative Audigy Audio Processor" again. However things "worked" for a while. The mixer came up, etc.
    6. Seemed to be working, then stopped working (no sound)....and upon a reboot, was re-found again and was using old generic drivers from 2003. And was no longer called a ZS.
    7. EDIT: Important, in the "sound and audio" devices in control panel, it is listed as an EMU0k (or some such designation) which I understand may mean the card has gone bad.
    8. The network fiber connection also periodically came up as yellow exclamation mark or working based on what was going on above.
It appears that these problems may be symptoms the card is going bad based on some other posts I found? Something about a scrambled EPROM? I do have a new unused Audigy ZS card I can try.
What is the best approach to put in another ZS. Delete the driver, shutdown, pull the card and put the new one in? And of course plug in the breakout box to it. Will it "find" the new January 06 drivers upon install or will I have to re-install those again on this new card. I know it is the same card but I assume the ID will be different.
If I need to re-install the drivers, do I just re-run the install or do I need to run CTZAP etc. first? I already have all the applications loaded off the original CD and would prefer not to have to do all that again...
    Thanks again,
    BJB

  • SB Audigy 2ZS clicking quest

Before I go through the hassle of tweaking all kinds of settings in windows and scrubbing and reinstall drivers (and thereby getting progressi'vely more frustrated), I want to see if anyone else has had the same problem I am and if they found a solid solution.
I have an Intel P4 based machine with a gugabyte 8KNXP mobo. The only cards in my machine are an ATI Radeon All-In-Wonder 9800 PRO, and my Audigy 2ZS. The vid card is riding in the AGP slot, and I have moved my sound card to every PCI slot except the one next to the video card due to heat reasons.
My sound is perfectly fine whenever I am not gaming. When it does act up, I do not get the crackling I have heard posted here by other people. What I get is a very regular click/pop. It is very sudden, very short, and *very* regular. The clicks are usually about a second and a half apart. The clicking isn't always present. It will come and go. When it shows up, it usually continues until I shut the game down, although there are cases when it will just suddenly stop and everything is ok again.
I have had this problem playing online games. WoW, EQ2, EVE, GuildWars, etc... Non-network games don't give me this problem.
The obvious assumption here is that it is network related. My motherboards onboard network controller is on IRQ 8. My audigy is on IRQ 22. No conflict there.
Has anyone experienced a similar problem?

    Hello,
Thanks for the reply! In surround mixer, under source, I do see the last slide on the right is mic, but there isn't a mute option under the slide. I tried moving the slide all the way down, but that didn't help. Any other ideas? I'm desperate!!!!!!! Need communication during game!! Thanks

  • Audigy 2ZS Platinum Pro - breakout box not work

I have an an external external breakoput box which was working fine in my old computer. I upgraded the mother board and cpu and installed the Audigy as before. The actual card works but the break out box doesn't light up. If I plug the external box firewire cable in to another firewire port on the computer the power LED lights but that's all. Any ideas anyone?

I am sorry to bump this topic but it is the same as my question and does not seem to have been answered.
I have a Audigy 2ZS Platinum Pro - my old one which I decided to use in lieu of the on-board sound. I installed the latest drivers I could find SBAX_PCDRV_LB_2_18_0017.exe (after unistalling the existing ones)
The card itself works fine but the external interface box is as dead as a doornail. The power for the interface is supposed to come from the two connectors.
No lights no nothing - obviously I have checked the leads and the seating of the card itself. Playback is fine on MP3, midi, wave files etc. I have disabled the on-board sound in the BIOS of course.
Unfortunately the jacks on the back of the card are 1/8 in. outputs only and the external interface provides the inputs which I need for recording etc. They are 1/4in proper ones - guitar lead size which are much better.
I know it is an old card but I like it. The last time I used in in my old computer it was fine. Card/drivers show up in the device manager. I have installed this both on a Win 7 partition and a Win XP partition on my 2 HDDs with the same result. :mansad:
<font color="#0000FF">Any ideas appreciated! Is there something I am doing wrong? Thanks.

  • Audigy 2zs Gamer and Windows Vista / Windows 7

.Audigy 2zs Gamer and Windows Vista / Windows 7? Hello, I am just wondering if it is a known issue to have really loud static and crackling when playing games using this card in Vista or Windows 7. I had this issue playing Bioshock a few months back on my Vista boot. I never figured out a way to resolve it so I belei've I just eventually uninstalled the driver and used the card without a driver install (not sure but I think this what I did). It worked but I might as well of just ran onboard sound...
Now I have installed and tried to run Windows 7 on a dual boot but I started receiving really loud cracking and popping in Warhammer Online and realized I had not installed a driver for my sound card. I did not expect creative to have a Win 7 driver yet but thought perhaps the Vista driver would work in compatibility mode, it does and sounds awesome and really makes me remember what I am missing without my driver installed on Vista but unfortunatly it randomly starts the crackling and popping again after a while...especially when a lot start happening on screen (pvp raids with many characters on screen and magic effects).
When the crackling starts happening I have no choice but to exit the game and restart the computer to get rid of the noise, but randomly it comes back after a while during gameplay. So as a temporary solution I have installed my onboard sound drivers and have been using that for sound output and my mic port on my sound card for my microphone. I would REALLY love to get my sound issues worked out in both Vista and Win 7 because it sounds SOOO awesome while it's working, the popping though is terrible, I never had that issue in XP.
I know this is an older card but any help would be appreciated!?

One thing you do need to learn is that SHOUTING IS MUCH HARDER TO READ!
But, if you are using Audition 1 and it works with XP, then if you have the chance, I'd stick to that on a new machine. Apart from anything else, it's completely untried with Windows7 and with Vista its a) likely to have problems, and b) going to run slower.
The other part of your question about the 'look' of later versions is that 1.5 looks pretty similar to 1.0, but with 2.0 and 3.0 things have changed somewhat - rather more with Multitrack View than Edit View. Basic operating principle remains the same, though - most people have had very little trouble transferring from one to another.
