Hey guys is there a way to run PC games on a mac without using something like bootcamp.

Just woundering because I use to have a PC and my friend has one too and he plays games that don't have a mac version for them and I wan't to play those with him but don't want to give up my OS X software or use something like bootcamp of vmalwarefusion. Please help.

You can try to use WineBottler or CrossOver to install the game, but the performance will be terrible. If you want to play games, maybe that solution could work, but the best you can do is to install Windows on Boot Camp if you want the maximum performance

Other than looking for it or luck, no.

    No.

  • Is there a way to run Internet Explorer on a Mac mini with mountain lion?

I need to access a professional website that only works with IE (don't get me started on THAT) I need to do billing using this site so need to have full functionality.  Is there a way to run IE on my mac mini with mountain lion?

The key takeaway here is that yes, you can access Windows 7 (and IE 9) from OS X Mountain Lion.
The crucial question is about your workflow. If you need concurrent access to both Windows 7 and Mountain Lion, then the Bootcamp solution included with Mountain Lion would not be the right choice. You would need one of the virtualization solutions.
If you need helpdesk support from a paid product, rather than entirely from a community forum, then the latest Parallel's Desktop or VMware would be a matter of choice, with Parallel's the better decision at this point. Either of these products are under $100, in addition to the cost of a Windows 7 license. You may need the Windows 7 installation media as an .ISO file, rather than on DVD. Check requirements.
By example, I use Oracle's VirtualBox (free) on Mountain Lion, with a Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit guest. The interactive and network performance of this Windows guest are more than adequate on my 2011 mini. I assigned 3 GB memory and 2 of 4 processor threads to the Windows 7 guest. I also restricted guest CPU use to 80%. VirtualBox is installed on my SSD, but the Windows guest is on an external HDD. That is not a default configuration. There are multiple choices for display; from full-screen 1920x1200 (mine) to an isolated resizeable window, to seamless integration with OS X. The Apple keyboard, bluetooth devices (trackpad/mouse), and printer all are recognized. I also have a shared OS X folder with VirtualBox, and copy/paste integration.
I use VirtualBox as it meets my support (forum) and functional requirements.
    Best wishes,

  • Is there any way to get iCloud sync (iPhone + 2 Macs) without wi-fi?

We have two Macs (MacBook Pro, iMac) and one iPhone 4; OSs up-to-date (Lion, iOS5).  Our only routine access to the internet is via the mobile phone 3G network for the iPhone, and via a 3G USB stick/dongle for the Macs, also using the mobile phone network.  We do NOT have access to the internet via a local wi-fi link to a router (whether ADSL or cable).  This is in Melbourne, Australia, btw.
Question: is there any way at all that we can get syncing of contacts and calendars for all three devices? - preferably automatic, ideally real-time whenever a device could see the internet.  With syncing set, there seem to be some random updates (and duplication) between devices, but it seems that normally syncing is enabled only when the device sees the internet via a local wi-fi link to a router, and that's what we don't have.  (We can't trundle the iMac to an internet cafe either!)
Understood that a local sync would be possible via iTunes for one of the two computers and the iPhone, provided they could see each other wirelessly - but there's a second computer...
E-mail no problem; we use IMAP.
    All suggestions gratefully received!

    Thanks for this quick response.
I thought I had established by searching forums that iCloud sync routinely requires wi-fi.  I can see from Apple documentation that backup does; and that Documents and Data (in iOS) has a switch to permit/deny syncing using a cellular network.  What I have not found is a one-stop-shop on the Apple site that says which iCloud facilities are supposed to work with cellular/3G networks and which not.  Can you point us to such a list?
Regarding our own problem: the missing link appears to be the download of new entries from the cloud to either of the Macs, the Mac being connected to the internet via 3G.  For example a new calendar appointment entered on the Mac duly appears on the iPhone; but a new appointment entered on the iPhone fails to appear on the Mac.  (If it is re-entered on the Mac, it gets duplicated on the iPhone.)  Checking the iCloud website show that a new iPhone appointment is getting as far as the cloud; but apparently no further.
I think you'll agree that this makes iCloud calendar syncing next to useless.
This may not (as you imply) be caused by the use of the 3G connection.  However in the two households in our family we have one with wi-fi and essentially the same setup, except that the iPhone is a 3GS.  In the wi-fi setup, a new appointment entered on the iPhone calendar promptly shows up on a Mac.
If the sync problem has nothing to do with the mode of internet connection, how might it be cured?

  • HT1351 is there a way I can sync music to my iPod without using a USB cable?

Recently, my USB cable for my 4th Gen iPod completely broke. I have a new charger, but it's a socket charger. I want to sync some albums from my iTunes library on my laptop, but I don't have a cable to connect to my laptop. Is there any way I could sync the music from my library without a cable?
    All help is appreciated!

If you read the original post like a good boy, you would see this girl doesn't have a USB cord. The link you sent requires a USB cord. Therefore YOUR reply is actually incorrect.
    Set up syncing
Open iTunes. Make sure that you have the latest version.
Connect your iOS device to your computer with the included USB cable.
    Locate your iOS device.
If you're in the iTunes Store, click the Library button, then look for your device in the upper-right corner.
In the Summary tab, select "Sync with this [device] over Wi-Fi."
She is looking for a way WITHOUT a USB cord. So actually, taking that into consideration, I'M right. At some point in no matter what you do, you need a USB cable AT SOME POINT.
    Thanks.

  • Is there a way to transfer music from PC to IPad without using ITunes

can I transfer music I already have on my PC windows 7 to my IPad without using Itunes on the PC? I cannot get it to download on my PC.

Only if you are in a country where you can re-download your iTunes purchases on your iPad's iTunes, and if you've signed up for iTunes Match for the CDs that you've copied - otherwise you will need to go via iTunes on your computer.
If you are having problems downloading iTunes on your computer then you could try posting in the iTunes for Windows forum and see if anybody there can help.

  • Hey guys is there any way to include my form in a word doc.

I am doing a project and i need to include a copy of the questionnaire in the Apendix but i haven't figured out quite how to do it yet. Is there something i am missing!?
Thanks in advance for the feedback!

There isn't a way to save out the form to Word or other format. The best you could do is save the HTML form that people fill as an image or something.
Sorry we couldn't help you out with this.

  • Is there a way to run Windows 8 pro on a Retina Macbook Pro through bootcamp?

I recently purchased a copy of Windows 8 Pro to see if I could run it through bootcamp. I have a USB SuperDrive , so I thought it would be simple enough. However, I'm pretty lost on how to configure my bootcamp to work. I've aimlessly looked at tutorials and such, but none have been of much help. I know the Retina macbook lacks an optical drive, so I believed using a Super Drive would work. If anyone can shed light on this situation and help it would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, but Apple does not yet support Win8, so there are no compatible Windows drivers for the Apple hardware.

  • Is there a way to get date and time in JAVA without using sysdate and time.

    Hi Everybody,
There is a requirement in my Application. The requirement is I need to instal an application and it need to expire after certain period (say 1 year).
And after that it should become useless for anyone enjoying the benefits of that. I need to know how to calculate the timeline for calculating expiry date.
<ul><li>&Oslash; We can't rely on system date, since user can modify that.</li>
<li>&Oslash; We also can't use counter because for that system should execute in 24x7.</li>
<li>&Oslash; Also there is no internet connection to fetch the current date from the global server.</li>
    </ul>
So if anyone has any idea to accomplish post your suggestions to me.

I strongly suggest you take legal advice before implementing such a feature. We contracted out to a 3rd party vendor to write a library for us. It was delivered in stages and paid for in stages. After we received the last delivery, but before we'd made the final payment, we had our first full-system demo for our first client/partner. Shortly before the demo was to begin, we brought the system up, and it immediately crashed. We saw a "This software is expired" type message in the log. While it's not uncommon for software to have an expiration date, our big issues with it were 1) there was nothing of the sort written into the contract, and 2) The expiration was a hardcoded "if date > whatever, System.exit" as soon as the class was even loaded.. It would've been different if trying to actually use the class caused an exception, but killing the JVM just for loading the class was not cool.
I decompiled the class, found the offending code, commented it out, recompiled, and we were off. In the meantime, our VP of R&D called the vendor to deliver a new jar file, which they did quite quickly. So, a) it was inconvenient but not difficult for me to get around the technical "solution," and b) that was as stop-gap measure--we still paid them for the software.

  • Is there ANY way I can get music on my phone WITHOUT using the media manager?

Is there? I think it's ridiculous to have to pay for music service when I should be able to use the music I have already paid for with a different service.

You can sync music from your computer, if you have music on your computer. The steps of how to sync is provided below.
    SYNC MUSIC
Allows you to synchronize your music files from PC to your phone.
In order to use this option, you must insert a microSDTM card and plug in the USB cable
(included inbox) to your phone and connect it to a USB port on your PC.
    1. Slide the phone up, tap Media Center and then tap Music & Tones.
    2. Tap Sync Music.
    3. Drag and drop the song(s) you want to sync from your PC to corresponding
folders. Once synchronization is complete, tap Cancel or the Home Key, and
disconnect the USB cable (included inbox).
    4. Under Music & Tones menu, open My Music to view and play your music files.
This information can be found in your user guide with your device. You can also go to the link below for the user guide.
