i hav just had a recovery on my Hp laptop(windows 7) and when I am trying to download iTunes I get a message who says "
"Apple Mobile Device" failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services"
what to do?I am having this same problem. I took Kappy advice on restarting the Apple Mobile Device Service, however that did not work. I got this message in a pop up window that came up immediately.
Windows could not start the Apple Mobil Device Service on local computer.
Error 1053 The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.
I have already uninstalled itunes, all the related programs and I cannot reinstall, this Apple Mobil Device message stops the install.
Can anyone please help? -

I have a mini mac 10.5.8 and trying unsuccessfully to install Itunes 10.6.3 to be able to sync my new Iphone. Keeps giving me an error message before complete, what am I doing wrong??
Are you downloading from here?
http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1575
Of course, you have to upgrade your Mac to Snow Leopard 10.6.8 in order to be able to download the correct version of iTunes to sync with your iPhone. -
I "updated" itunes and now I am unable to download any apps. I receive the error message -45054, try later. Please advise.
Try repairing disk permissions in Disk Utility (it should be in the Utilities folder in Applications) : https://discussions.apple.com/message/23478840
If that doesn't fix it then try the suggestion three posts further down that thread by the same user (wmark), that appear to have worked for some people -
I have a new laptop running Windows 8.1. The 10.3.1 version downloaded, but it was incompatible with Windows 8 and 64-bit. Then I tried to download Itunes 11.1.5 and it comes up with the box asking me to save. When I click on save...NOTHING happens. AAAAAHHHHH!!! I even clicked on the download list to see if it is possessed and downloaded somewhere I didn't choose, but that's NOT happening either. Please help me! I have been messing with this and 4 other problems on this laptop for the last 32 hours. I'm getting tired and frustrated. Also, I haven't even put music on THIS Laptop because on my other one, I ended up with at least 5 copies of EACH SONG. Let's see 636 X 5 = 3,180 and they were in EVERY POSSIBLE LOCATION!!!
Thanks for your time,

I am trying to download iTunes on my new desktop computer (Windows 7, 64 bit). It starts installing, and then stops with the message- "The System Administrator has set policies to prevent this installation." This is a stand alone computer and I am the sole user. Please help.
This is a Microsoft Windows Issue.
From a MS Support Engineer:
"Hi,
· Is the computer on a domain?
· Is the issue isolated to only this software or you get the same error message with other software’s as well?
Try the steps below and check if it helps.
Step 1:
Run the software setup file as an administrator and check if it helps.
a. Right click on the setup file of the software that you are trying to install.
b. Select “Run as administrator”.
Step 2:
Temporarily disable the antivirus software running on the computer and check if you are able to install the software.
Disable antivirus software
Warning:
Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you shouldn't disable your antivirus software. If you have to temporarily disable it to install other software, you should re-enable it as soon as you're done. If you're connected to the Internet or a network while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.
Step 3:
a. Click Start, type "Local Security Policy" (without quotes) and press enter.
b. Click on Software Restriction Policies.
c. In the right pane, double click on the "enforcement".
d. Select “All users except local administrators”.
e. Click Ok and restart the computer and check if the issue is fixed." -
I'm trying to download itunes 10 but I get to a point in the download and it tells me, "The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable" but I haven't had itunes on my computer for a year now so how can I get around this?
iTunes.msi
Perfect, thanks.
Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from the following page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
To install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time? -
I get error message -42408 when trying to download itunes update 11.0.2 and I therefore can not update to that latest version. What can I do?
Hey there davidgor2!
I have found an article that should help you resolve this issue with updating your iTunes. The article can be found here:
iTunes: Advanced iTunes Store troubleshooting
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3297
and the specific part of the article you will want to look at first is right here:
"Error 42023" through "Error 42408"
These alerts might occur when trying to authorize iTunes or during launch when iTunes checks for authorization information.
Install the latest iTunes from apple.com/itunes/download/
Remove the SC Info folder.
If that does not resolve the issue, see iTunes: "Error 42408" or "Error 42404" after upgrading to iTunes 9.0.3.
Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities!

I get the following error message when trying to download ITunes on my computer running Windows XP - Error writing to file: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple Application Support\CFNetwork.dll
For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert to an older version or want to try the iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) release as a workaround for installation or performance issues, or compatibility with QuickTime or third party software.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there also links to backup and recovery advice should it be needed.

Has anybody had the following error while trying to download iTunes 10.5? There is a problem with Windows Installer package. A program required for this install to complete could not be run.
Go to "control panel" then "add or remove programs". Highlight "Apple software update" Choose "change" click "Repair" This should do the trick. Then download and install iTunes 10.5 again.
