Hey guys, when I try to update my iPhone my iTunes responds with 'The iPhone software update server could not be contacted' please help, I believe this is why none of my downloaded apps are working. Cheers.
Also Internet isn't working on it. Either this is all down to a botchy update issue or I need a new phone.

This is the iPhone for the Enterprise forum... there is nothing about the issue that appears to apply to using an iPhone in an Enterprise (corporate) environment.
Try posting to the iTunes for the Mac forum.

Ok so I reset my ipod touch 4th gen and it got stuck on the apple logo screen and holding down the buttons just made it turn off for a few seconds and go straight back onto the logo screen, nothing was happening with it connecting to itunes either. But I held the home and the power button down at the same time while connected to my laptop and then when the logo reappeard I released the power button and it came up with with the itunes logo and the usb logo. It then allowed me to select restore on itunes which I did but a box popped up saying "The ipod software update server could not be contacted. make sure your network settings are correct and your network connection is active, or try again later." When my iPod was 'preparing for update' my iPod USB accidently fell out. I turned it on and a usb sign and an arrow to iTunes came up, so I plugged it in. It comes up with a message saying iTunes has detected an iPod in recovery mode, You must restore this iPod before it can be used with iTunes. After that, I clicked restore and it said 'The iPod software server update could not be contacted' and that's it!
I've tired,
Resetting my iPod (the usb to iTunes sign still comes up)
Holding down the Home and Power button at the same time for many seconds
Restting my computer
Going into LAN settings and changing that
Please, I really want it too work as I just got it today for my birthday

I have quite literally tried everything. My ipod touch just will not update.
My internet connection is more than fine, my ipod functions as it should, and I can connect to the itunes store.
It will not, however, connect to the update server.
I have spent around 2 hours tonight troubleshooting and i still have nothing.

Try updating your iTunes using an iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe) installer file downloaded from the Apple website:

when trying to sync to upgrade I get a message "Ipad software upgrade server could not be contacted."
Then next message "Make sure your network settings are correct and your network connection is active or try again"
iPad, Windows VistaTry rebooting your router and or cable modem. Unplug it/them for about 30 seconds and then plug back in. See if it works then.
Reboot your iPad as well.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up. -

Hi after updating my iPad to Os6 I get to the point where it needs to be restored? It does a download bar and says 'Extracting software' then I get the message 'iPad cannot be restored at this time because the ipad update software server could not be contacted or is temporarily unavailable' .. I have been to the trouble shoot section ..as it has an error code .. but when you click on that it does nothing .. I have turn off my firewall etc.. just keep getting that message?? HELP

My iPad2 was locked and disabled because my kids entered several times the passcode and now it is locked. I tried every possible ways and read all related items and followed precisely articel http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1212 but after i restored and update teh iPad, itunes keeps giveing me the same message:
The iPad "iPad" cannot be restored at this time because the iPad software update server could not becontacted or is temporarily unavailable.
I tired at different time of teh day and noght and different days yet kept getting the same message.
Pls assist me as now the iPad is useless

JoeIf reset doesn't work, try and force the iPad into Recovery Mode.
Recovery Mode
1. Disconnect the USB cable from the device, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
3.While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears, release the Home button. iTunes should alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then click Restore to restore the device.
Note: Data will be lost. You may have to repeat the above many times. -
okay so last night i went to charge my ipod in the computer and it started working then i took it out of the computer and put it on a wall charger and it had a spasm attack and shut itself down, after that it said i had to connect it to itunes so when i did it kept telling me that i need to restore my ipod, but when i press restore the itunes said "the contact server is not avalible" or something similar to that, what does that actually mean and is there anyway i can fix my ipod. i have dropped my ipod a few times, on tiles, wood, in a gutter of water when it fell out my pocket but im also wondering is it something to do with my ipod or is it itunes?

Current iTunes message: iTunes has detected an iPhone in recovery mode. You must restore this iPhone before it can be used with iTunes.
Thanks, it's working. I was concerned to restore, as I didn't see my backed-up phone appearing as an option prior to launching the restore.
