Hey. I am trying to play Unreal Tournament online with some friends, but I have problems both hosting and joining in games. I have a dsl and wireless router (WRT54G) setup. I have heard that I should port foward. I tried this but no luck (maybe I didn't do it right). The problem is, with dial-up, all I had to do was enter the host IP and I was able to join. With this current setup, it just never connects...Please help, I've tried alot of stuff and just don't have any more ideas about now....Thanks.
Well linksys router doesn't work with the Dial-up connection all you need to do is use the local area network connection & it will definately work!!

Now I want to play unreal tournament 2003. I looked at the system requirements and it says it need 64mb of video ram and 128 system ram.
I am wondering about the macbooks video ram. I know it's an integrated card. I've heard that it can use up to 128mb of ram in windows. is that true?
I'm so confused about the macbooks video ram usage.I can play Unreal Tournament 2004 on my Core Duo Macbook with 1 GB of Ram on Medium settings just fine.

Open iTunes on the computer you want to authorize.
Choose Store > Authorize This Computer from the menu bar.
You might need to show the menu barto see this option in Windows. In earlier versions of iTunes, you can access this option from the Advanced menu.
Enter your Apple ID and click Authorize.
If your Apple ID uses an expired MobileMe account, you can still use it to authorize your computer.
If iTunes asks you to authorize your computer again, it won't use a new authorization. iTunes uses the same authorization for the same computer.

QT Plug-Ins (XviD Codec 1.0) Trying to play a quicktime movie with sound?
I have a movie I downloaded and cannot hear anything? I got a drop down pane telling me I needed a plug in so I downloaded "XviD" I read the read me file and placed the component in the proper place, I think Library/QuickTime and movie still does not play. I don't understand what I am doing wrong. please help and thanks in advance.
Firstly, ~/Library/quicktime may be case sensitive. (where ~ is your user's directory)

Return it for a credit. Buying things like phones and computers on eBay is not a good idea. If the person refuses to refund your money, use the eBay appeal process since you were sold something that does not work.

Try this, double click on your HD, then click Library, internet plug-ins, then find all the Flash plug ins (also check anything such as Dis-abled plugins, same folder as well as a seperate folder withe same name, find anything with flash and highlight it and press COMMAND-DELETE.

Play a QuickTime file with eight separate audio channels
I'm trying to play a QuickTime file with eight separate audio channels but they only play in stereo...... the same QT file will play all 8 channels separately in Qlab, which has separate level controls for each channel, and which "sees" my Digidesign 002 audio interface. But QT does not recognize the interface, nor does Audio MIDI Setup utility, apparently..... it will play all 8 channels mixed to stereo through channels 1 and 2
The following will answer both your questions a) and b).
Click on your master timeline and press cmd+0 (zero) to bring up Sequence Settings, then click on the Audio Outputs tab on the right. Click on the Outputs option and change it to 6. You can leave them as Stereo pairs.
Now, back on your timeline, you need to make sure all your audio is organised so each track. A1, A2, A3, A4 etc has all the relevant media on it.
Then, on the left of the timeline you see the Destination toggle buttons, then you see the Padlocks to lock tracks, then you have the Toggle Auto Select squares. If you right-click on the Toggle Auto Select squares you bring up a little sub-menu, at the top of this list you'll see Audio Outputs, which will show the stereo channels for that particular track. As you've changed the number of Audio Outputs in the Sequence Settings, the list will show: 1&2, 3&4, 5&6. You just tick whichever channels you want.
In your case, you have dialogue on the first 4 tracks, no problem, just go down through tracks 1,2,3 and 4 as described above and assign these to Audio Outputs 1&2.
Then just go down through your music and effects audio tracks and assign them accordingly.
Now, when you export your timeline as a self-contained media file, it will have different audio channels.
I hope that makes sense. When you change the number of audio outputs as described in the first step, I believe the rest of it is fairly self explanatory, once you know where the settings are. -
ITunes stops working when trying to play purchased video
Hey Everyone,
For some reason whenever I try to play a video or TV program that I purchased from the iTunes store it causes iTunes to shut down and it won't play the video. It does bring up the player for a few seconds then just hangs and a few seconds later it pops up a message that iTunes has stopped working. HELP PLEASE. I'm on 7 64 bit.

Okay. let's first try uninstalling and reinstalling your QuickTime. We'll also take a few other explicit precautions, just in case. Best to print out a copy of these instructions, because at one stage of proceedings you won't be able to use a web browser.
Preliminaries
Download and save a copy of the QuickTimeInstaller.exe file from the Apple Website. (Don't run the install on line and don't start the install just yet. get the installer that doesn't mention iTunes.)

*Uninstall phase*
Head into your Uninstall a program control panel and uninstall QuickTime.
Next, we'll remove any leftover program files and folders.
In Computer, open your C drive.
Open the "Program Files (x86)" folder.
Right-click on the "QuickTime" folder (if it still exists) and select "Delete".
Go back into your C drive (or whichever drive your operating system is installed on).
Open the "Windows" folder.
Open the "SysWOW64" folder.
Right-click on the "QuickTime" file (if it still exists) and select "Delete".
Right-click on the "QuickTimeVR" file (if it still exists) and select "Delete".
Empty your recycle bin.
*Reinstall phase*
Restart the PC. After the PC restarts do not open any applications. Disconnect from your network and/or the internet. Now switch off all your security software (firewall, antivirus, antispyware).
Now start the reinstall by doubleclicking the QuickTimeInstaller.exe file you downloaded earlier.
Reenable all security software prior to reconnecting to the internet and/or your network.
Does the QuickTime reinstall seem to go through smoothly? If so, try launching iTunes again and trying to play one of the affected videos. Do you still get the same iTunes error, or are the files playing properly now? -
Unreal Tournament 2004 won't install...
When I first got my Macbook in 2009, Unreal Tournament 2004 installed and worked just fine on it. I decided to uninstall it when I stopped playing, but now I want to play again. The problem is, the game will not install. The game installer program quits on me just after I enter the games registration code. Any ideas on what the problem is and how to fix it? An internal error has occurred: ?:0: attempt to index a nil value after installing LR5.5 update and trying to play or preview slideshow. Never had this problem before. I went to forums and see that this is a problem with previous versions and this only occurred after installing lastest update.

If you follow the advice of the previous poster Julie Kmoch and then gradualy add presets back in one at a time you might be able to find the one that is causing the issue. I may be guessing, but I believe the issue has something to do with either an incompatible Preset setting (eg a older preset in newer version of LR) or a corrupt Preset.
Say you bought LR2 and imported a bunch of Presets from the internet, cuz 'Hey these effects are cool and I don't have to recreate the wheel', and then you upgraded to LR3 (not a clean install) and now one of the Presets that calls a certain slider setting or value that is different in LR3 doesn't work anymore. This might be why it throws the error, but again I am just speculating.

If you do not see the folder AppData, you may need to change the settings in Windows Explorer to 'Show Hidden Files and Folders'. To do that in Windows Vista/ Windows 7, open a Windows Explorer window, Click on Organize, then Foler and Search Options. Then click on the View tab and select the option button next to Show hidden files, folders and drives.

Trying to play .avi file and I cant figure it out. I am pretty Mac ignorant(hey at least I own one)
I've uploaded a couple files but they stay as .dmg files and I cant get them to work and quicktime
isnt working. I dont think I should have to purchase another so called $29.00 file to make .avi
work on my Mac. Does anybody know what I am doing wrong?
ThanksAVI is a legacy file container originated by Microsoft back in 1992 and which has not been officially supported for more than a decade. Like the container, many of the codecs commonly used to create AVI content are also "legacy" compression formats most often supported on PC/Windows platforms. In fact, some codecs have never been transcoded for Mac use. Of those that have, many never made the transition to Mac OS X or the transition to Intel-based platforms. Those codecs that are still supported on the Mac can normally be found in the free Perian codec component package available as an online download. While some common AVI compression formats may be supported by the QT X Player app, QT 7 currently provides a more compatible AVI playback environment for most "legacy" compression formats. If the codec(s) used in your AVI files are not supported by the Perian package for QT use, you can try the VLC media player which may still support more esoteric compression formats. If VLC does not support the files, the normal approach is to discover which specific audio and/or video codecs were used to create the file and perform an Internet search to see if a compatible Mac component is available for download.

Unreal Tournament (not 2003) questions?
Configured my UT to run in D3D instead of OpenGL (version of UT that came with my GeForce 2).
Patched it to most recent version (4.x, dont remember the version at the moment).
And then i want do some benchmarks (which i have not yet had time to enjoy since i got my GF4). So i have some questions.
1. It was ages ago i did benchmarks in UT. Is there any way to timedemo it without actually playing it?
2. Is there any way to start a bot game and remain a spectator?UT

Unpack demo files to UnrealTournament/System folder. Run UT. Type
timedemo 1
into console to activate frame counter. Type
demoplay worstcase?noframecap
or
demoplay utbench?noframecap
to run the benchmark. When finished, open the console window for FPS values.
Spectating: Simply go into player setup, mark "play as spectator" and start a practice session with some bots.

Unreal Tournament 99 - Wont start- OpenGL/32bit issue?
I have an AMD card with the latest beta driver.
When I try to start unreal tournament (using ut-bin -log for more detailed output) I get:

The issue is at the OpenGL level. The screen brightness changes for a split second as if it's about to launch the game.
glxgears runs fine and KDE is running using OpenGL.
I have the same copy of Unreal Tournament running on the same machine inside a Linux Mint installation with the same 14.1 catalyst driver and it works fine.
My assumption is that I'm missing a 32 bit library but I have no idea what it may be. Not sure if this helps anyone but if I run

It looks like it's a 32 bit opengl problem as "glxinfo32 | grep OpenGL" provides no outptut, running just "glxinfo32" reports:

What do I need to do to completely reinstall the 32 bit opengl library? I thought it came with the catalyst driver.
edit after reinstalling lib32-mesa-libgl I now get the output:
