Then it's likely that you have a hardware issue on your hands. Follow the three r's:
1. Restart: Turn it off and then on again
2. Reset: Hold down the home and power button until the apple logo appears
3. Restore: Connect the device to iTunes and restore it as new. Test the issue and see if it persists.
Don't forget to back up before you restore, so you can keep your data.
If the three r's don't work to solve your issue, you will need to get your phone repaired. To do this, you can go into the apple store or call 1-800-275-2273.

Ok, that sounds like a valid approach...but now the question is, when you say you lost the upgrade when you tried to restore, exactly what do you mean? Restore from a Time Machine backup, or another kind of backup? What happened to the operating system when you did that?
If it damaged the operating system, you should be able to recover it by restarting your computer holding either the Option key (should result in a grey screen that shows the macintosh hard drive and a recovery hard drive), or by holding the Command and R keys while starting.
You can use the recovery hard drive to reinstall Mac OS X either way. If the Option key restart, click on the recovery hard drive to boot from that.
Then with either approach you will have a screen with a drop-down that gives you choices, such as install Mac OS X, Disk Utility, Terminal. You will want to use Install (or Reinstall) Mac OS X...note, you must be connected to the internet from this point on.

I have had my phone about A year and I have never had a problem with it before, but i woke up thismorning and opened my text's put it back in my pocket, half an hour later it was completely broken the screen was black and it will not switch on or do anything at all (I have not dropped it or had it near water).
Is there a way i could get it to work again without losing any of my data i have been away with work and have not backdated for 2 weeks and i really dont want to lose it all.
Any help to get it working would be fantastic.

There is no way that I can see to get this supid thing off my app screen. I can't update apps I can't add new apps I can't do anything and I **** sure don't want this app.

Try a reset: Simultaneously hold down the Home and On buttons until the device shuts down. Ignore the off slider if it appears. Once shut down is complete, if it doesn't restart on it own, turn the device back on using the On button. In some cases it also helps to double click the Home button and close all apps BEFORE doing the reset.

I have a theory. You don’t want to controll your car, you want to controll somebody who is driving the car. The Finder reports File information. The date and time of the photo are in the Photo's Exif metadata. The Finder has no awareness of this. All photos apps on any system do.

Yes - I connected my phone to my computer / Itunes and went into the apps section, but from there I have no idea how to manage the push notifications. Depending upon what country that you are in (music can't be re-downloaded in all countries) then try deleting the incomplete tracks from your iTunes library and redownload them via the Purchased link under Quick Links on the right-hand side of the iTunes store home page on your computer's iTunes : re-downloading.
If you aren't in a country where you can re-download music or if they re-download in the same state then try the 'report a problem' link from your purchase history : log into your account on your computer's iTunes via Store > View My Account and you should then see a Purchase History section with a 'see all' link to the right of it ; click on that and you should see a list of your purchases ; find those songs and use the 'Report a Problem' link.
