Hey just got infinity installed help

Ok had it put in about an hour ago was hittin 40 meg easy now 1 hour later am down to 24 meg is it just the time of night or what

It has a week or two training period.... best not turn the HomeHub off in case it gives the exchange a false "fault" indication which reduces your IP Internet Profile.
I would try the http://speedtest.btwholesale.com/ and ensure you are using a wired connection to get a reference speed reading.
After the test results are displayed you can then click the "Further Diagnostics" and entering your phone number.
As you're such a new installation you might have to wait a few hours/next day until the number is on the BT database.
Anyhow when the "Further Diagnostics" completes it's test you will get your download and upload IP settings.
These IP settings are the max speed the Dynamic Line Monitoring equipment at the exchange has put you on to provide a reliable speed.
During the training period they could change, so it's worth noting them so you can see what is going on and you can add the info to any further postings.
Example of my  IP for 76Mbps Infinity service is below.

    Where is the phone number on the iPod?
    If you have an iPhone with iOS and use the same ID for Messages and FaceTime as on the iPod the iPhone's phone number will be listed for Messages and FaceTime on the iPod.
    If you changed phone numbers on the iPhone, sign out of Messages and FaceTime and then sing back in. Then do the same a little while later on the iPod.

    Hi I have just had infinity installed because of an ongoing rein issue which screwed my Talktalk asdl down to 1meg.
    After 9 BTOR visits I was informed where the problem was coming from but that no one was able to enter or contact the house that the problem was isolated to.
    This left me to the infinity option which thankfully has bypassed the problem and i am getting 37 meg(woohoo!)
    I do find it amaxing however that neither TT or BT has any rights to deal with the person who is messing up mine and others in the road and you are expected to deal with it your self.
    Looking forward to better service from BT and great speed than before

  • Just had Infinity installed, upload seems very low...

    I literally just had Infinity installed and on the first boot up I was getting 23mb/7mb but now the upload has dropped to 1mb after I cleaned up the cabling (so had to turn off the hub)

    Is this something for me to be worried about or will it go back up during the 10 day period?

    It starts making history of the line as soon as it's plugged in and connected. It will use this information to try and settle the line, after 2/3 days you will see it set a normal IP profile as it think's that is where it will be best at. It's even more vital to not reset it before 2/3 days when you normally see it settle or at least close to after a couple of months you will.
    Also restarting at night is stupid as well, you should restart during the day (90%) of time. As that is when less noise is present...
    I understand your point though, but it will have 2 be testing at high speeds instead of low to be effective. You can't determine in which state of testing it is in though.

  • Just got the IP5 Help with Touch Screen

    I just got the IP5 and when I touch the icon (phone, mail, camera, etc) it opens but then will not allow me to touch/open  or type on the next page; as if it is frozen or locked. Please advise, thank you!

    No problems here like that (had since day 1 of sale in US).
    I would say try a reboot and see if it clears up.
    A reset/reboot is:
    Go to Home Screen
    Press and Hold Home Button
    Keep holding and press and hold Lock Button
    Keep holding Both
    You will see Slide to Turn Off (Don't let go to slide, just keep holding)
    The phone will turn off (in time, but screen will look like it has some white lines)
    Keep Holding
    When you see the Apple Logo, you can let go.
    Turning off via the Slide to Turn off while good and fine to turn off, is more like the Sleep Mode on a computer. Thus any locked up issues in memory remain when you turn back on. A reboot as described is like doing a real Turn off and Turn On on a computer.

    I  just got a new ipadWiFi 16GB as a retirement gift.  I have been having trouble getting on when I realize that  I put must have put in the wrong email address when I started. What do I do to change the email so I can start working on the Ipad.

    Are you asking about your personal email account or about your Apple ID email - which should be the same email address anyway .....
    But what does " so I can start working on the iPad" mean exactly? Has the device been activated yet? Are you able to use it at all?

  • Just had Infinity installed - major problem with i...

    I have a Goodmans Freesat box.
    Until yesterday it was connected to ADSL (around 15mbps) via a HH2 and it worked ok apart from a bit of buffering when viewing in HD.
    After having Infinity via HH5 installed yesterday afternoon I can no longer watch iPlayer - it is very slow going through the menus, it is continually buffering & freezing, even on SD, and I keep getting a message saying that there are connection issues.
    I've swaped cables but same result.
    Nothing has changed other than Infinity + HH5.
    What's the problem?

    I have carried out the test as per your instructions.
    Results as follows - (not sure if relevant but the figures in brackets are what I got using wifi instead of cable connection)
    Download Speed = 34.98 (53.31)
    Upload Speed = 13.59 (12.53)
    Ping Latency = 39.13 (37.13)
    I also carried out "Further Diagnostics" and a link to the screen cap is below.
    I did not continue any further than this as I feel it is beyond my capabilities.

  • Library of 81000 songs just got deleted -- PLEASE HELP ASAP! :(

    Hi! I have (well, had) my itunes library on an external hard drive ... I started itunes like I always do (with the drive attached and on) and I got an error saying "could not import library .. renamed library damanged (or something like that)" Then, about 200 songs came up in the ipod library, with ALL of my playlists gone .. the songs/files are still on my hard drive, but is there ANY way to get all the playlists and everything else back???

    You could try a system restore point to before the date that it happened.
    Do this by going to Start->Help and Support. Click on the button that says "Undo changes to my computer using System Restore."
    If that doesn't work, then you might be out of luck. All of your songs and all of your ID3 tag data should still be there, but your playlists will be gone. Do NOT SYNC your iPod, as you can manually add all of the music to playlists on your computer just by looking at your iPod. It will take a long time, but it will work.

  • Just had Infinity installed

    estimated speed before order was 37.7Mbps. Engineer has just left me with a download speed of 16.5 on a wired connection, the engineer got 18 with his test equipment. He said a house 3 doors down was getting around 38 when he did theirs a few days ago and that he has tested my line which shows no problems so shouldnt be any reason it should be much different. He suggested I ring up BT and let them know and see if there was any cap on the connection.
    Obviously when I rang BT I got the usual script that it takes 10 working days (why working days if it is an automatic process!??) before the line stabilises and after 10 working days I will have what was estimated originally.
    So, is it normal to get a starting speed so slow and then get faster over the next 10 days or was the guy talking rubbish?

    Basically, the guy was talking rubbish. There is some stabalization over the first couple of days, and then continuous ongoing stabalization. The initial connection is usually at the highest possible rate at the time the connection is made, which then lowers a little over the initial stabalization, and then remains stable unless there are changes to the line such as extra noise (or even reduced noise).
    It's possible the house 3 doors down had a very different path to the cabinet, or even a different cabinet. More likely there is some other issue with your line. Do double-check your internal wiring; especially that there are now extensions from a junction bex BEFORE the master socket.

    The extra message about not getting extra information is quite common on a new install, as it involves querying back via various servers to the FTTC infrastructure; and the server information about your line is not always updated immediately.  I think a couple of days or so is typical, but not all sure on that one ....

  • Just got FiOS installed today and was given a horrible DVR. Is this normal?

    The box is a Motorola QIP6416-2. After an endless installation, I finally got to sit down and play with my new service and was shocked that:
    The DVR guide was not in HD. It's pillarboxed, fuzzy and very hard to read.
    The performance of the interface is glacial. It often chokes during usage, queuing up button presses then performing them all at once. Just flipping through the guide is painful.
    The signal is limited to 1080i. I'm probably just mistaken, but I swear I read that FiOS was 1080p.
    The picture is not particularly crisp despite what Verizon claims in its adverts. The HD channels I looked at had a softness to them (though no pixelation).
    The guide itself is terribly designed, just an awful, awful user experience. I can't believe I'm saying that after coming from Time Warner Cable's DVR!
    A quick Google search turned up complaints about this DVR from 2010; that's like 15 years in technology!
    I spoke to a Verizon rep and he said that I can upgrade to a 7216 (He offered this VERY reluctanlty and insisted he had to justify it by saying my current DVR was defective. **bleep**?), but he swore up and down that all of the above issues would exist on all boxes. He also mentioned the ability to pay an upgrade fee for a 7232 500GB box, but said it would only buy more storage and not better performance.
    Any suggestions or advice about the various models and which I should be looking to get?
    So far, not a great experience with FiOS, I'm disappointed.

    Nope.  The 7232 has more memory (although the same size drive), has a faster CPU and newer chipsets.  It is also "greener" using less power.

    We have just had Infinity installed in the Stevenage SG1 area for just over a week and the performance is really strange. Any sizeable download seems to go faster and then slower with a large degree of consistency. I’ve spoken to two other neighbours who have had infinity installed the same day and they have exactly the same pulsing transfer speeds - is this normal for new installs or is something wrong????
    The images below are the network traces while downloading a chunky file for my connection and two neighbours - they all look very similar.
    The Upload is a solid 8Mb but downloads seem to peak at 36Mb to 0 in a rhythmic fashion every few seconds. We've all been told we need to wait 10 days from install before it can be investigated but surely this is not correct?
    We've been told everything is fine and that we all have a solid 40/10 connection and a Draytek 2750N reports a theoretical max of 88Mb / 22Mb
    Small packets and pings are very fast but anything streaming results in the strange pulsating downloads.
    Where do we go to get this investigated as we're all getting nowhere with Boardband support?

    I'm one of the above afflictees.
    Yeah, all the tests have been done with wired only connections, all wireless adapters etc disabled for the duration of the tests.
    Depending upon the "Cycle" when your hit the official BT SpeedTest site, I've seen speeds reported from 0.08Mb to 8Mb.
    When trying to download large files as a test, averaged over a minute+ I have managed to get about 4Mb, but it is all in very small bursts with 30sec waits beween those bursts.

I phoned BT up and was told it could take up to 24hours but the line came on fine and seems to be stuck with the old profile of 40mb download and 10mb upload (from what i read on the forums that was the old speed) line is very stable and pings are low.  just wanted to double check if i should be worried at all since when it comes to customer support i never have much trust for overseas call centres!

    That is another problem not related to the Mac OS X version you are trying to use.
    Three beeps at startup means you have a bad ram module in the computer.  Did you install the ram or did it come from another owner this way?  The first problem you need to solve is the bad ram.
    When the iMac starts, go to the apple left side of the menu bar, About This Mac, More Info, System Report, Hardware, Memory and see what the report is on the memory...does the iMac report all memory modules that have been installed as OK or does it show bad memory?  If there is not any information, you then need to remove the memory modules and restart one at a time to see which is bad.
    On the bottom of the screen there should be a small door that you can remove with a small screw driver.  You need to lay the iMac flat, disconnect the power cord, remove that small door and remove the memory modules.  You can then put two in (if it has four) and see if it starts without the beeps.  Do that with each module so you find out which is bad.  Once you know the bad memory, you can buy a new module, just like the ones installed, so the iMac starts without the beeps.
    Next, you cannot use a DVD for another computer for your iMac unless it is from one that is identical to yours.  So, you need to talk to Apple and have them send the DVD for your particular iMac.
