Hey Siri Problem

Hi Everyone,
I was wondering if anyone else was occasionally having trouble with "Hey Siri" while using the watch.  When I press and old the digital crown, everything works as expected and Siri takes the request.  However, when I raise my wrist  and say "Hey Siri," Siri will sometimes give up listening immediately with the message of "How may I help you"  and a microphone button appears.  Other times Siri will just wait patiently until I say something.  Has anyone else experienced this?  I don't suspect there are any hardware issues as it does work well when Siri does give me the time to state my question.  Now I have tried saying "Hey Siri" and immediately stating my question instead of waiting for Siri to listen, and it works every time.  It only seems to happen when I say "Hey Siri" and wait for Siri to show that it's listening.
Thanks,
Gabe

Hi Brandon,     The button popping up is what I'm referring to.  I would assume that whether or not you use use Siri through the crown, or simply say "hey siri", it's probably not supposed to wait to long for a response.   However, like your watch, Siri can wait patiently after saying "hey Siri".  I've been playing with it more and more, and I can't figure out why I get the microphone button immediately as opposed to other times when Siri will just wait.  At first I though it might be do to the sensors seeing movement in my arm, but I can hold the watch in my hand and still see it (once I unlock it and keep it pressed against my hand).  I then though it must be related to too either too much noise or too little noise for Siri.  However, whether I'm in a quite room or noisey restaurant, I get the same results.  I then thought it might be related to connection.  But I live quite litterally next to a Verizon tower......  I'm still thinking this might be normal operation or possibly a bug that needs fixed.  I just want to put my mind at ease and not continue to think there's something wrong with the watch.  I would really hate to go to the Apple Store just to pick up a refurb after spending this much on a new watch.

  • Siri problem with NHL player name

Hey, I have a small siri problem that I'm not sure how to report (Google doesn't seem to help here).
I love how well it works with sports, but when I try to ask Siri questions about Edmonton Oilers center Ryan Nugent-Hopkins she doesn't know who I'm talking about.  Works fine with everyone else on the team but if I ask about Ryan she offers to search the web.  I found a small workaround where I have to ask her about Ryan Nugent hyphen Hopkins and she figures it out.  Just wondering if there is some way to flag this for Apple so they can correct the algorithm so that his name is recognised and I don't have to say hyphen?

    Hi,
I have also asked on the Adobe forum for help as well, see post
http://forums.adobe.com/message/3723676#3723676, which has some additional error messages and code samples.
Is there a quick way to dump the Error Console (Warnings tab) in FireFox to a file that I can upload here as there many warnings being issued?
    Thank you for any help/advice.

  • Hey Siri Isn't Working

EDIT: Scratch that. It is working now. I just rebooted my phone. After entering my password at startup and waiting a minute, it now works. It seems that rebooting fixed it. But I'll leave the question up in case it can help anyone else.
I updated my iPhone 4S last night to iOS 8 - everything working fine so far as I can tell. Except, Hey Siri isn't working.
Yes, it is plugged in and yes, the plugged in icon is the lightning bolt next to the battery icon at the top right. Yes, Siri works when I just use the button. Yes, the microphone works as I use it to talk to people on the phone all the time with no problem (and also Siri in normal mode which, as I stated, works).
Yes, I turned on the option in General > Siri and "Allow "Hey Siri"" is on (green).
So I'm a little confused. I searched the web and I've seen nobody else have this problem. Is something broken? Is there some other secret setting to set?
It's a 2 month old iPhone 4S, brand new, out of the box, 16gb, and not sure what else to say about it.
If anyone has any clues, please let me know. It's not dramatically bad that it isn't working, but I am wondering why. My iPhone usually stays plugged in next to me at my desk, so it would be useful. But as I can reach it in about 0.1ms flat, it wouldn't be that dramatic if it didn't actually work.
Would be nice though, so please let me know if you have any ideas.
    Thanks.

I had the same problem initially, because I speak next to iphone 4s speakers (bottom). if you put your mouth close to front cam, volume button, etc., "hey siri" will work.

  • Hey Siri doesn't work on my Apple Watch. I have to push the dial to get Siri to respond

I've tried resetting my watch, speaking closer to the watch face, and asking my question right after saying Hey Siri but Siri does not respond or acknowledge my voice. I can sometimes use Siri if I push the dial and haven't had problems using it within messages yet.
    Anyone have a suggestion?
    Cynthia

I assume you know the watch face needs to be illuminated for Siri to work.

  • Hey Siri Without Being Plugged In

This really isn't a question, but more of a comment.  As of January 1 many cities, including mine of Austin, went totally hands free when operating a cell phone while driving.  Hey Siri works great for this, but you have to have the phone plugged in to use it.  There needs to be an option to use the service while the phone isn't plugged in.  I realize there is a concern about draining the battery by using the service, but there must be a way to do this.  I don't always have the ability to plug in the phone while mobile.
    Thanks.

The problem with laws like the one you're describing is that the address the wrong part of the problem. The problems caused by using cellphones when driving are not the result of what your hands are doing. The problems are caused by the way interacting with the phone diverts your attention. There is no way to safely use a phone while driving other than to set up the navigation or the music and then leave it alone.

  • Can I use Hey Siri to silence the alarm after a timer finishes?

I can use Hey Siri to set a timer.
But at the end of the timer, I have to walk over and touch the device to stop the alarm.
Is there any command I can use after Hey Siri to tell the device to stop sounding the alarm?
Before you reply, please note that I am not looking for replies of this type:
I want to know the answer to this too
    Gosh that sounds frustrating
    Have you tried searching Google
    Have you tried rebooting
Take your phone to the Genius Bar
As I have already considered these responses.

If you can add a step to disable backup job start of ETL and enable backup job after ETL completes.
    exec msdb..sp_update_job @job_name = 'LS backup Job Name', @enabled = 0 --Disable
    exec msdb..sp_update_job @job_name = 'LS backup Job Name', @enabled = 1 --Enable
create a record in a table:
In those line you can create a new job as well which will check record in table if its 0(ETL completed) then enable the backup job and if its 1(ETL running/started) then disable the job. This job will run every 5 mins to check the flag in table. Depending
on ETL status it will enable or disable tlog backup job that way you will be able to resume log shipping without delay.

My new Hey Siri stopped working. How can I get it to work again?

  • Hey Siri privacy issue

When you ask "Hey Siri, what is my phone number" when the phone is locked, Siri will pull up all your phone information. This is a privacy issue.

Based on the quality of his post, I think he could have figured that out.
Considering how easily one can reset passwords with SMS codes, which would appear as notifications, it certainly is a privacy issue.
Notjarj1 is clearly making his contribution to the improvement of iOS. I don't know what you're trying to do.

  • Initiates phone call when I say "hey Siri"

When I am in my car and using Bluetooth, if I say, "Hey, Siri" it initiates a phone call to the last number I dialed.  Siri continues to respond, but the phone call continues also.  If I end the phone call (that I didn't want to begin with) then Siri ends also.  I have upgraded to iOS 8.0.2 on my iPhone 5.

It is very possible the vehicle's system will not support this enhancement to Siri. Have you been able to use Siri for other tasks in the vehicle without it initiating a phone call in the past? What happens if you turn off Hey Siri and just try holding down the home button to start Siri, what happens?

  • How long has the 'hey siri' function worked unplugged?

I use my idevices and siri everyday for hours, I'm familiar with all of ios' functions. But I just discovered while using my iPhone 6 with ios 8.3 that after you hold the home button down activating siri, then ask a question, as long as you keep the siri screen open the 'hey siri' function works unplugged. Has this been the case since ios 8.0?

    simonp_au wrote:
Ok, well after I press the home button as usual (unplugged), then ask siri a question, siri then answers. That's the way it has always worked, yes. But, if you leave the siri screen open, while unplugged, then say 'hey siri' siri activates again. Try it. And that has not always been an available function.
I can confirm that it works. My recollection is that Siri always remained open for a minute or so after a query, but you would have to push HOME again for another question. Nice feature!

  • Hey Siri, Where Am I, is all wrong

Hey Siri Were Am I is about as wrong as you can get on the Watch.
Text Says M5 Tewkesbury, Map Shows Milton Keynes, Address location also incorrect. Test on iPhone Where am I is spot on.
Multiple checks continues to show Milton Keynes. Never been there with my Watch.

I have attached 2 screen shots. I have blurred the actual location but you can see I'm in Tewkesbury, but not according to the Map.
