Hey friends ! I am trying to switch to netweaver from ABAP !
What is the difference between SAP 4.6c and netweaver.
Does netweaver support ABAP ?

Hi namit,
NetWeaver is a SOA plattform. It allows to build business application with the services and the tools, which are released by the SAP. Enough said about that, you can find so much information about NetWeaver in the internet and of course of the SAP websites and here in the SDN. NetWeaver is the future for business applications.
Visual Composer is part of the SAP Portal, which is part of the NetWeaver.

Basically, what is NetWeaver?

I would just like to clarify as to what is NetWeaver? What role they play in the installation of an SAP Netweaver System? Where do the Web AS come in? It is said that SAP Web AS replaces the Basis Framework, on that note, where does NetWeaver fit in? I would just like to deepen my knowledge with regards to this. Awards will be provided accordingly depending on the knowledge gain that will be acquired.

SAP Netweaver is a comprehensive tecnology integration platform. But what makes it different from R/3 is that it can integrate seamlessly with all the other components of SAP in providing various product solutions to the business:
Before we talk about the various integrations, there one common factor for all of these components WEB AS (application server). WEB AS is the BASIS platform on which has to installed as a base for using any of these components
So what does People Integration, data integration and process integration mean:
The solution provided by SAP for people integration is EP (Enterprise portal). As the name suggests this is browser based and links to the business' SAP servers. Earlier people where only able create, modify or delete data on SAP by logging in through SAP GUI or web based GUI. Now this can be done by any one with a browser and user ID and password. What make this possible is JAVA (J2EE) The SAP architecture is now compatible with J2EE thereby making it possible.
Similarly lets say the business wants to analyse the DATA created so far in the SAP system (purchase orders, sales orders, general ledger details etc). The SAP product here is BI (Business intelligence). This comes under Data integration
But unlike Enterprise portal, BI is not dependent on J2EE architecture but on ABAP architecture. This determies the configuration of the Web AS.
The three variations are:
Web AS - ABAP
Web AS - ABAP+J2EE
Web AS - J2EE
Based on the products being implemented by the business, the WEB AS config is determined
Process integration comes into picture where the Business uses SAP and its trading partners use other similar Enterprise resource planning software. In such cases and interface is require for transfer of data and also data mapping.
This requires extensive programming. The solution provided by SAP for this is XI - Exchange Infrastructure.
SAP Netweaver is providing various solutions for varied business needs in such a way that these solutions (products) intergrate with each other seamlessly.

What is NetWeaver ???

Hi,
I have been working in SAP as an ABAP/HR Developer for last 1.5 years. Very recently I started hearing the word NetWeaver in some consulting requirements. I send my resume over there but they say that you do not have any Netweaver experience so you cannot be considered.
Now, I have taken training of XI, Adobe Forms, Workflows, ABAP and Functional HR module.
My understanding is that NetWeaver is a suite like Microsoft Office (Word, Powerpoint, excel etc.) SAP has simply put together a few technologies together to form a suite, and it has Java touch in it too (Java Stack), nothing more serious.
My questions is, why recruiters say that I do not have netweaver exposure? Is it that they are just looking for the word "NetWeaver" in my resume (as I know XI, Adobe Forms and workflows) ?
I am not even sure if this is right forum to ask this question.

As you noticed, in the SAP world NetWeaver tend to be important.
Or to put it diffrent: If NetWeaver is not mentioned it looks like outdated skills.
Netweaver is:
Web AS
ABAP (Here ABAP Objects, BSP, WebDynpro are also important skills)
Java (Also specify what you have done in this area. WebDynpro ?).
BI ("old" name = BW. What kind of functionallity have you worked with?)
MDM (Master Data Management)
EP (Enterprise Portal. Visual Composer anyone? iViews ? Roles?)
MI (Mobile Infrastructure)
PI (XI is also "old", but som rescruters have note catched up yet).
Each main name contains many functions and some of the are worth mention.
Try to use BI (BW) to mark that you're into the new stuff
The same for PI (XI).
The rest is really up to you.
The resume should be tasteful and like a an appertizer,
making recruiters say: hey, we want more of this person!

So I decided to shut the iCloud down from my computer.

The system stated 'IF I did..... Everything loaded into theiCloud would be removed from my computer
(MacBook Pro).
So soon after (I obviously didn't disconnect the iCloud, can't afford to losse 'who knows what')
So soon after I went into my iPhone to turn it off as well...
There I received the message/question "Do you want items left on your iPhone?"
Huh!     I didn't even receive that option on the Mac.

I live near Fairbanks approximately 7+ hrs away.
I had never had any instruction on Apple/Mac since becoming a PC convert just before Christmas of 2008.
The Crew of Trainers Apple brought in, and New one's still in training are Exceptional!
I've been like a five year old with a Ferrari until these Awesome Folks and Kids trained me in at
That Apple Store.    They even assisted me in tweeking a Keynote Presentation prior to going into a 6 day
Engineering Show also in Anchorage three weeks ago.

a.) 2004s , what does the "s" stand for ?
b.) SR2 , what does it mean ?
c.) if we were to login to a system, how to proof or where to check that the system is actually has netweaver ?

a.) 2004s , what does the "s" stand for ?
S stands for the extended release of NW 2004 release. Since it was confusing, SAP now has removed the old convention and now NW 2004's is called as NW 7.0 Release.
b.) SR2 , what does it mean ?
SR2 means : Service Release 2, which includes all the SP's of NW. If you want to apply sp's into your system, you can directly apply service release packs, instead of applying lot of Support packages indivually, which is time consuming and bit tedious.
Now NW SR3 is available in market. SR3 means - it includes all the support packages of NW till SP11.
c.) if we were to login to a system, how to proof or where to check that the system is actually has netweaver ?
go to : System -> Status -> Component information -> Release for 2004s or NW 7.0
Proof: If it contains: SAP_BASIS, SAP_ABA, SAP_BW and PI_BASIS 700 release, then u can say that
NW 7.0 system is there in your system.

I think people here would be able to make a better contribution to your answer if you elaborated slightly more on how you presented SAP Netweaver to your boss.
Firstly, all most bosses care mostly (not everything) about is ROI aka Return on Investment when they purchase a new piece of software.
So for example:
If they spend $1million on SAP they want to see the product give them $3million in savings or benefits.
If you can't convince your boss easily, you need to do more research on the product.
In short:List the benefits in terms of how it will improve the business' performance.

Hey What About This Idea

I tried to find an earlier post about this, and I didn't see anything. I apologize if it has already been discussed.
How about a "Tab in Tab" browsing feature being added. In other words, having the ability to view two (or more) tabs at once. It comes up for me all the time. I am browsing on one tab, and I am waiting for something to happen in another. It would be great to me if I could see a small version of the one tab while I was browsing for other things in the other tab.
Thoughts?

Ahh! But I don't want a thumbnail. I want a live page.
i.e. I play chess online. I can do a search for another player that can sometimes take some time. While I am waiting it would be nice to be able to browse in another tab, but currently if I am viewing another tab, I have no idea what is happening in the first tab.
Or suppose I am waiting for a file to finish downloading, or a movie to start playing, etc.

Hey, what's xdg? (settings in /etc/xdg)

the other night during system upgrade pacman made a pacnew file for /etc/xdg/libdesktop-agnostic/desktop-agnostic.ini so i was just curious as to what xdg is and if the pacnew setting should be used:

Old:
config = keyfile
pacnew:
config = gconf
I've opted to keep keyfile. Should i use gconf instead? I have no idea what this even does though.

Gconfd is a per-user daemon that is automatically started when it's needed, so if you're running Gnome my guess is that you've already installed it, and use it without even noticing. This command should reveal whether or not the daemon is running:

Aha, if you're using a multi-user system, then I suppose editing the /etc/xdg/ file is the best approach after all... Feel free to ignore the .pacnew, and continue using the old configuration file
I still wonder why you're having problems using Gconf as the backend though, since all your other applications (Gnome) seem to work fine with it.
