HFM 11.1.2.1 to 11.1.2.2 upgrade - applications not visible in workspace

Hi Gurus,
Recently upgraded HFM system in distributed environment from version 11.1.2.1 to 11.1.2.2 on MS Win 2008 R2 platform and Oracle 11g database. There are two servers as follows:
Machine 1:     Foundation
                       Reporting
                       Workspace
                        HFM Web
Machine 2: Foundation common components
                   HFM
                   FDM
Applied maintenance release, configured existing databases for individual components and deployed to application server on existing domain (on Machine 1 WebLogic) which went fine. Lastly configured web server on Foundation (Machine 1 - Oracle HTTP). Then executed the HFM schema upgrade utility.
Workspace & shared services are working fine, HFM apps are appearing in shared services, hfm text appears using hfm url, services are running fine. Issue is that HFM applications do not show up on workspace.
Oracle support suggested applying adf patches, HFM 303 & 305 patches, but the problem remains even after applying all the suggested patches. Is this a bug in 11.1.2.2? Please help.
Thanks,
Hamminder

Hi Hamm,
The fact that you are saying that "hfm text appears using hfm url" can mean that you have not configured the workspace web server after you configured the HFM. Have you done that?
As another test, have you tried toy connect to HFM via smartview to an existing app?
Regards,
Thanos

  • HFM application not visible from work-space

    Hello,
We have a requirement where Essbase 11.1.1.3 is being installed on a separate machine but it will use our existing Shared service.
We managed to install and configure Essbase successfully but while logging into the EAS console we got error saying that incorrect password, the issue seemed to be of Shared service.
Then we restarted all the services including Shared service, there after we are not able to see HFM application on workspace.
One thing that we noted is that the guy who installed and configured Essbase selected "Perform 1st-time configuration of Shared Services database " even though we want to use existing Shared service schema.
So do you think that selecting "Perform 1st-time configuration of Shared Services database" option might have caused HFM application not to be visible in the workspace.
And if your answer is YES then apart from restoring SS schema from backup, is there any other way of fixing this ?
    Regards,
    Rajnish Singh

In workspace, you can re-register the application with shared services.
Go to administer -> Classic application administration, consolidation administration, register application.

There was a known issue in 11.1.2.1 where a patch fixed this issue, however, this is 11.1.2.2 and I see no applicable patch.
any ideas where to go from here?
    Joe Orgill

Yes the issue in 11.1.2.1 should be fixed in 11.1.2.2
The 11.1.2.2 Readme has it in the list of defects fixed:
12421352 - You cannot select Financial Management Classic applications from Oracle Hyperion Calculation Manager.
It may be worth logging with Oracle is you believe the configuration is correct.

  • Workspace 9.2.0.2 & Navigate Viewer

We recently upgraded our Shared Services to 9.3.1, but left Workspace & HFM at 9.2.0.2. Prior to the upgrade, when users logged into Workspace, they could go into Navigate and under Applications they'd see our HFM application and be able to login to HFM by selecting the application. Now that we've upgraded, the Applicaiton option no longer exists under Navigate. I have confirmed that the users are still able to get to HFM by going directly to the HFM web portal; however, what do I need to do to make the HFM app show up under the Application option in Workspace?
    Thanks.
    Terri

    1. I am not able to stop and restart services right now since it's production; however, I do know that we have stopped and started services quite a bit since the upgrade as well as re-booted the Shared Services, Workspace and HFM servers.
    2. I looked in the GSM log. I do not see the error that you mentioned. This is the only error that I see:
    <event logger="com.brio.one.utils.ORBSocketServer" timestamp="1254766152230" level="ERROR" thread="/162.81.129.121:2235" sequence_no="55409">

  • HFM 11.1.2.1 Database Configuration issue - EPMCFG-10398

    Hi All,
I was configuring EPM 11.1.2.1 on Windows 2003 32 bit instance with Oracle 11.2.0.1+ as DB
    Products covered were :
    1. Foundation Services
    2. FDM
    3. Reperting and Analysis
    4. Financial Reporting
    5. Web Analysis
    6. HFM
    7. Disclosure Management
I have created separate SID's and grouped them as
Foundation Services + Workspace = hypss
FDM + DM + Calc Mger = hypepm
    RA + FR + DM = hyprna
    HFM = hyphfm
I also configured them in above order only. However when I was configuring HFM I was given warning as - *"EPMCFG-10398: For successful completion of this task, the Oracle Database tnsnames.ora file must exist"*
Subsequently my following HFM configurations were failed
    1. Configure Database
    2. Register Application Servers/Clusters
My tnsnames.ora file is as follows
    # tnsnames.ora Network Configuration File: C:\app\Administrator\product\11.2.0\dbhome_1\network\admin\tnsnames.ora
    # Generated by Oracle configuration tools.
    HYPSS =

    (PRESENTATION = RO)
I changed the entry localhost to payous12 (my machin name) in tnsnames.ora. That was the only change I carried out in that file
Further I have not yet installed ethernet drivers on my machine and there is no IP address as well
All other configurations were successful. Can anyone guide for successful configuration of HFM
    Thanks
    Payous

    Hi Bharat,
To resolve this issue you need to go to
Drive where ODAC is installed \app\Administrator\product\11.1.0\client_1\Network\Admin\Sample
Then Copy the tnsnames.ora file from Sample folder to following location
Drive where ODAC is installed \app\Administrator\product\11.1.0\client_1\Network\Admin
Make necessary changes to that file with respect to your HFM database
Sample tnsnames.ora will look like as follows
    HYPHFM =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = payous12)(PORT = 1521))
    (CONNECT_DATA =
    (SERVER = DEDICATED)
    (SERVICE_NAME = hyphfm)

  • HFM 11.1.2.3 Configuration - Issue with Consolidation Administration

    Hi,
This is regarding a new/fresh installation EPM 11.1.2.3 and have an issue with configuration on HFM; the deployment is distributed as below
    1) Server 1 : Foundation,WebLogic Admin(/OHS) - Workspace/Shared Services/Planning/Calc Manager/EAS/APS
    2) Server 2: Essbase
    3) Server 3 : EPMA/HSF/HFM(FDMee/DRM-Yet, to be installed and configured) - Hadnt used these products and this is totally new to me.
We have issues with HFM - and while opening the Consolidation Administration.
We get an error as below, in workspace
An unexpected error has occured.Check server log or contact your system administrator for more information.
The web app logs suggested below errors- This is only part of the error log
    E:\Oracle\Middleware\user_projects\domains\EPMSystem\servers\HFMWeb0\logs\oracle-adf.log
    Part of log
    oracle.adf.model.adapter.DataControlFactoryImpl] [SRC_METHOD: createSession] Exception: [[
oracle.adf.model.adapter.AdapterException: DCA-29000: Unexpected exception caught: oracle.epm.fm.common.exception.HFMException, msg=There is no registered cluster or server
I hadnt configured 'Configure Cluster' during the HFM configuration; this was a mistake being new to HFM.
On a further readup online on OTN etc, found that an application cluster is a must have on HFM, even if it is for one server.
Have one confusion now for fixing this,
Do a configuration only for 'Configure Cluster', and restart services to fix this issue
    or
Do a configuration for 'Configure Cluster'and then again re-Configure HFM components
Configure > Financial Management — Configure Cluster
Re-Configure > Financial Management — Configure Application Server
Re-Configure >  Financial Management — Configure Web Server
Re-Configure >  Financial Management — Configure Web Application
Re-Configure >  Financial Management — Enable Smart View Provider
Re-Configure >  Financial Management — Enable Life Cycle Management Provider
Re-Configure >  Financial Management — Enable Web Services

Got help from Oracle Support, and this problem is now resolved. The HFM app server was configured fine, earlier.
Had to follow below steps on the EPM configurator.
    Stop Services
    HFM - Configure Cluster
    HFM - Configure Web Server
HFM - Deploy to App Server
    Foundation - Configure Web Server.
    Start Services
    Refresh workspace

    Thanks

    Hi,
I have similar issue and cannot find an answer.
My environment is 11.1.2.1 (upgrade from 11.1.1.3)
All applications working fine (planning, essbase, hfm).
I'm unable to change database connection to hfm (db change to essbase and Plannng works). Error says that I have wrong cluster/server configuration.
Question is how this configuration should lokks like. I already tested:
    1. HFMProd - this is cluster name and Server1 as a server in HFMProd cluster
    2. No cluster, just Server1
    3. HFMProd and Server1 in plus Server1 separately
In all cases the same message.
When I open FR studio I'm able to see reports (from workspace also).
When I try to open report I have an error due to some links to the old server ip (I guess this is taken from connection info that I can not change)
What is more I can create new Planning report in studio, but can not open through workspace.
From Workspace I can manage reporting services so everything is visible correctly (or should be :) ).
    Any idea?
    regards
    Karol

LKM looks fine. Sorry it was my bad the "data" at the end was not visible and you are right its IKM for integration
Log file that you have provided talks about these parameters but I doubt these are related to data
I was going through the link and it takes about the parameters CLEAR_ALL_METADATA_BEFORE_LOAD, REPLACE_MODE but they are related to metadata

I have no idea. Will keep posted if I get to know anything

Did I do something wrong in the installation?

After upgrading to version 9.3.3, 11.1.1.3.50 or 11.1.2.1 this error could occur with the below scenario...
The cause was due to a program change in these upgrade version, with how logins work when accessing HFM via workspace. Any login to HFM that does not go through workspace, will inconsistently cause this error.
To resolve this issue in version 11.1.2.1, download and apply Patch 12865428.

  • Can HFM & FDQM  run on Oracle Database 10.2.0.2 based on a 64bit server?

To enhance performances of HFM and FDQM, my customer would like to upgrade the Oracle DB server (10.2.0.2) that runs on Windows Server 2003, from 32Bit to 64Bit, that supports larger number of connections.
The HFM and FDQM are installed on Windows Server 2003 32Bit and will not move to the new 64Bit server so only the Oracle DB will be installed on the new 64Bit server.
Is it possible? Is there any document that explain it?
    Thank you,
    Yoram.

    Hi,
I am facing another related problem. I have installed HFM 9.3.1.1 along with Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.1.0 in Windows server 2003 SP2. When I try to create udl by choosing Oracle Provider for OLE DB, the test connection succeed. but giving unknown error at the time of Application server configuration indicating to apply working udl file.
When I check the HFM installation guide, it tells to download and install the 'Oracle Provider for OLE DB' file from Oracle.com (as per page 21 of the installation doc). But the problem is that the 'Oracle Provider for OLE DB' file is not available for the aforesaid Oracle 10g version.
Can anybody guide me in the aforesaid problem? Please sent the link from where I can get the file for installation purposes.
Your help would be of great help.
    Thanks & Regards...

  • Workspace Error Running Financial Reports Post HFM Metadata Change

We recently updated the metadata in HFM to use the Custom4 dimention. We are now trying to run reports from Workspace and get an error 5200 - error executing query. I have confirmed that the database connection in Workspace is ok. I am able to run the reports from the Financial Reporting Studio. Any ideas what's wrong when running from Workspace?

That error means that the report is trying to retrieve data from a member that either does not exist or is not valid. I have seen it happen when the user POV chooses [Year] for period.
I would start by trying to get the report to run from Report Studio where you can control the POV settings. If you still get the error, you will need to go through every data point in the report and verify that each member exists.

  • HFM 9.3.1 Upgrade

Could Schema Utility Upgrade be run from HFM 11.1.1.3 when upgrading from HFM 9.3.1? Note that the HFM 11.1.1.3 is a new install running on a different server. How would the Schema Utility connect to the database to upgrade the application since there is no application yet on HFM 11.1.1.3 and this application is residing on HFM 9.3.1. What is the best practice to upgrade from HFM 9.3.1. to HFM 11.1.1.3.
Your assistance would be greatly appreciated

    Hi!
There are 2 possible options - HFM copy+Schema update utility or loading files into the new application. With one note, before loading your application file you can update it by opening it in the win32 metadata manager. It will convert it to the latest HFM version.
I guess this topic has been covered many times here

  • HFM and Planning apps not showing up in workspace..

    Hi All
We recently had the SSL certificate expired and after we renewed them, and restarted all the services, the HFM and Planning apps are not showing up in workspace Navigate->Applications. When I click on Classic Administration -> Consolidation Administration or Planning Administration , I get the following error.
"Please make sure that the Application you are trying to launch is registered with SharedServices.Shared Services must be running for the feature you are trying to access.Close the current browser window and try logging into workspace again after a little while.Contact your administrator for further information."
I also cannot open the HFM app in "Projects" in HSS, but can open Planning apps. ( not sure if that helps)
I m able to open the Planning and HFM apps using the Direct links, (not through workspace) and able to login and perform any task with in the application.
The issue looks more like workspace is not able to communicate with Foundation or shared services.
Can you tell me what would be the reason for apps not showing up in the Workspace and a possible resolution?
    Thanks in Advance.
    Raghu.

    Hi Raghu,
I'm faced with the same problem.
If you have managed tor resolve the same, please help me with the solution.
    Regards,
    Apo

  • HFM: Sample applications and tutorial

Does hyperion have a sample applications? Because as of now i am using the HFM applications and i'm not connected to workspace. But i dont have sample data or applications.
If you have some tutorial can you please give me.
my email address is [email protected]
    Thanks
    kate

For 9.3.1, you can choose to have sample application during installation. In 9.5, the sample apps are copied during installation.
For 9.5, you can see sample applications in C:\Hyperion\products\FinancialManagement\Sample Apps.
For the sample apps, you have to load the data into HFM on your own, including profile, security, metadata, rule file, data, journals,..etc to review the content.

  • Smartview reports do not open in HFM v11.1.2.1 after upgrade from v9.3.1.

Smartview reports when I attempt to open in HFM v11.1.2.1 (after upgrade from v9.3.1), points me to launch v9.3.1 workspace. Any advise pls... Thanks, Mark

    Mark,
I still don't fully understand the issue. Smart View is not launched from Workspace -- it is instead run from within one of the Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook). Are you instead asking about Financial Reports? These are run from the Explore menu within Workspace. You can view these as html or PDF.
A little more confusing is the fact that Smart View can run a Financial Report from within any of the Office products. In any case, when you use Smart View in 11.1.2.1 you could open a connection to the Workspace server (the connection in Smart View is defined in the Smart View options under Advanced > Shared Connections URL). Assuming you have provided a correct URL there, pointing to the 11.1.2.1 workspace server, you should see the available shared connections when you open a new conenction.
I re-read your e-mail and wonder if you are confusing things a bit. If you log into Workspace, using Internet Explorer, each user has their own preferences as to what page launches by default upon login. I think you are saying that a usr logging into the 11.1.2.1 workspace somehow has a default page leading them back to the 9.x workspace? If so, check their preferences to examine the default document and it's URL. Once logged into Workspace, choose File > Preferences > General, to view the Startup page. You can make any changes here, but this is user-by-user.
