HFM 3.5 to HFM 9.3.1 issues Urgent help needed
Dear All:
i am on an upgrade Scenario
Upgrading HFM 3.5 and Hyperion Reports 7.0 to System 931
Environemt details : Windows 2003 sp2, SQL 2000 sp3a
PROD HFM Server version : 3.5.1 sp2
PROD HR Version 7.0
Server 1: HFM Full Server
Server 2: HFM App Server
Server 3: HFM Web Server
Server 4: SQL / HReports 7.0 (HFM DB=100+GB Size)
Task : Upgrade/Migrate the HFM 3.5.1 to System 9.3.1 on a different environment, (different domain).
I'm not sure if i cant use the HFMCopyApplication.exe utility for two reason... HFM DB is huge and botht the servers are in two domains.
What would be the suggested or best method to do this migration/upgradation ? I have the HFM DB backup from PROD Server....

Hi,
Can you define "diffrent domains" for me? Are they diffrent phisyical machines? What type of database server are you using?

server :19000/hfm not available - causing issues
1. 11.1.2.2 Distributed Environment - Foundation server I can access <foundationhostname>:19000/hfm just fine. However, if I copy and paste that onto another server and try to hit the web address <foundationhostname>:19000/hfm - I get a HTML 500 error. I can access <HFMHostname>:80/hfm just fine though.
2. HFM is not installed on the foundation server
3. No issues with connectivity at all on foundation server
4. No VIP is in use (Logical address was initially set up for the environment, is not needed though)
5. **this is where we see the issue** Trying to assign access control in shared services to a HFM application fails when not on foundation server due to HTML 500 error (due to the <server>:19000/hfm failing)
6. Every other piece of the environment works just fine
7. Hosts file is set up just fine
Any thoughts? I cant seem to find any documentation on this anywhere on why this would happen for just the SS to HFM piece. If something was awry from a communication perspective it should be popping up in other areas too.
-MattThe only documentation on anything even remotely like this was a bug:
from knowledge base
In Hyperion Financial Management (HFM) 11.1.1.4 it is not possible to assign access control in Shared Services. The following error is shown instead of the access control gird:
Communication Error : http://server_name:19000/hfm/security//getRights.asp
500 Internal Server Error
Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or
misconfiguration and was unable to complete
your request.
but that is not what the issue is - as the actual error is:
500 - Internal server error.
There is a problem with the resource you are looking for, and it cannot be displayed.
Access.log entry:
"POST /hfm/security/bpm/launcher.asp HTTP/1.1" 500
Notice no double slashes...
Same issue occurs when browsing for a url POV value and clicking the edit link when setting up a HFM taskflow. Im guessing this is a new bug?

I am having issues with seeing Users on system or system messages in release HFM 11.1.2.1 I get a message that *"You do not have the proper access rights to perform this task."* and I ensured that in the configuration the creator group and administrator group are set up as administrators. Regards,
Shan...I believe your user ID is not contained within the group set up in the HFM configuration's "application administrator". This group is independent of the role "administrator" since it is set at the server level, not application level. The same group controls access to the enable/disable connnections, and logout users feature.

HFM Equity Pick up issue.
Hello Experts,
11.1.1.2
When we load the rule below into HFM it complains about this syntax only: Owned = Hs.Entity.Owned
If we comment it out and just use: Owner = Hs.Entity.Owner it does not fall over and even calculates numbers for me, but gets itself caught in a loop.
Sub EquityPickUp ()
'==============================================================================================================
' Equity pick up rules for Dublin
'===============================================================================================================
Owner = Hs.Entity.Owner
Owned = Hs.Entity.Owned
lPown = Hs.GetCell("E#" & Owned & ".I#" & Owner & ".V#[None].A#[Shares%Owned].C1#[None].C2#[None].C3#[None].C4#[None]")
OwnerDefCurr = HS.Entity.DefCurrency("")
Factor = lPown /100
Hs.Clear "A#IS_6112008.I#" & Owned
ProfitfortheYear = Hs.GetCell("E#" & Owned & ".A#IFRS_IS_005.I#[ICP Top].C1#AllCustom1.C2#[None].C3#C3_2.C4#[None].V#" & OwnerDefCurr)
Hs.Exp "A#IS_6112008.I#" & Owned & " = " & ProfitfortheYear * Factor
End Sub
Please advise,
Thank you,
Charles Babu JHey, I see you have asked lot of question on this site, one was abotu Equity pick up. I cannot get the equity pick up to work either. I have the rule and the tavle populated, but I am not gettign any results and it appears the ipown is not calculated. I have tired quite a few things, but nothing seems to work. Below is what I have done so far. Hope you have some ideas, I am stumper. Thanks! Mark

1 54 58 60
1 56 58 40
0 054Cns 58 100
0 054Cns 58 100
The table is supposed to represent 054CNS owned 100 % of 54 and 56. And 54 owns 60% of 58 and 56 the balance of 40%. in the HFM hierarchy 58, 54 and 56 all rolll up to 054Cns. 054Cns is a consolidation point(no base members). 54, 56 and 58 all have base member. When I run the EPU the balance in 058 appears in 054Cns, but I do not get the 60/40 split in 54 and 56. -
Can no longer connect to HFM Office provider via Smartview
Can connect to Essbase and Reporting and Analysis via Smartview. Just not HFM. This worked for over 1 month and suddenly just stopped! Nothing changed on the servers that we know of. Our TQA environment is still working fine. Just our production environment that broke!!
We are running version 11.1.2.1. Office 2003. XP on the desktops. Windows 2008 R2 64 bit enterprise on the servers. Shared and Private connections do not work.
Here is the link we use within smartview for private connection:
http://<servername>/hfmofficeprovider/hfmofficeprovider.aspx
Event Viewer on HFM web server gives this error each time I try:

When trying to access the HFM application via Workspace, receive a Class not registered warning. HFM application will not open. You are left at Workspace homepage.
I can run Financial Management client and access the HFM application with no issues. I can run Financial Reporting reports against the HFM app. via workspace with no issues.
We really need to get this working. SR is open with Oracle support. They recommended patch 12830755, but it did not help.
Thanks,
MikeHi Mike,
What is the user running hfmSmartViewAppPool on your IIS ?
is there a possiblility that its rights has been updated recently ?
you can try to update the user with your DCOM service admin user and restart IIS and HFM services.
Hope it helps,

Drill Back from HFM works for one year, not another
Hello,
We are on FDM and HFM 11.1.2.1 and I was doing some reasearch in the system today and for some reason in all periods that were loaded during 2011 in this version (Aug-Dec) I am able to drill back to the FDM source data. However, if I go into 2012 and try a drill back for Jan or Feb it does not work and I get the below error message. I'm guessing there must be a setting I'm missing somewhere, but can't figure out why the year would make a difference here.
Error: No Locations were found matching the passed intersection values. Please verify:
1) that the target system (originating the drillback) is properly configured;
2) that the FDM POVs have not been retroactively modified or compromised.
Thank you,
JasonYes, that is what the problem was. After talking with Oracle support apparently when you upload new periods via the Excel template it does not update the tpovperiodadapter table, which is needed for the drill back from HFM to work. In order to fix this I had the DBA go in and manually update the 4 fields (see below) for the 2 periods we had already loaded for 2012 and all is working now. I also went back and deleted all of the other future periods and added them manually via the FDM web interface.
The table has the following collumns:
PeriodKey
IntSystemKey
PeriodTargetM
YearTarget
Period Key would be the period date
IntSystemKey would be the adapter system code that was used to load the data to HFM
PeriodTargetM would be the target Month in HFM
YearTarget would be the target year in HFM
Example:
PeriodKey - 1/31/2012 (format needs to be the same as what's currently in the database)
IntSystemKey - FM11X-G5-E
PeriodTargetM - Jan
YearTarget - 2012 -
Hi all,
is there any tool to upgrade from HE to HFM?
It's a very simple HE application (very flat)
Thanks in advanceHyperion Enterprise 6.5.1 includes a utility that will generate an HFM application shell from the Enterprise application. Thsi can be useful for modeling an HFM application, though most Enterprise applications really need a redesign before they can be used as proper HFM applications, for many reasons.

HFM OpenApplication Unspecified Error
Hi All,
Greetings!
I am facing this issue while opening HFM application (after I created the new HFM application).
*Note: I am getting this same error when I try to open a newly created HFM app in system 9.2/9.3/11.1.1.3/11.1.2. SO i believe there is some security/RAM/access issue for the admin ID with IIS/DCOM configuration. (As the error messages and other logs are same for all versions)

5. There were no errors while installation or configuration.
6. DCOM was correctly enabled.
7. IIS is correctly configured and running.
Post-Installtion checks:
8. Created new user with admin rights for creating application.

Any help will be highly appreciated.
Regards,
AnkitHi there,
I have seen this error in the past I think.
It is related with the configuration of the app server and the Working Folder.
I would suggest to reconfigure your system and make sure that all the folders that you will define during configuration exist.

Constantly getting error 503 on FDM and HFM
Hi,
We are new user, using version 11.2.2.3. Every time there are major processes that required a lot of resources (e.g consolidation, multiple load, multiple processes), our FDM/HFM server
server will spit out 503 error. It will lock the user and eventually kick them out of the system. We suspect there are something in the setting/configuration so that we can maximize the parallel processes better. We are not sure if this is the real issue. Our server is running Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard Edition.I would recommend going through the logs as a starting point. Check the Windows Event logs, HFM event log, ODL logs, etc. You could also fire up performance monitor to monitor key activity (memory utilization, CPU, locks, etc.)
HTTP 503 I believe is 'Internal Server Error' which would be a server error encountered executing the web application code. Is 'everything' breaking or only specific pieces of functionality? You mentioned HFM and FDM; however, is workspace and shared services broken as well? The 503 error implies the web side of things is down; however, what happens when you use the HFM client program or FDM Workspace client?
Without knowing a lot more about your environment, it would be very difficult to effectively troubleshoot this. Initial thought is that the server(s) you are using do not meet the minimum requirements for the application/users you have.
If you go to the document repository for 11.2.2 documentation library, you can find a lot of information in regards to deployment and troubleshooting. (http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E17236_01/nav/portal_1.htm)
If this is a critical, time-sensitive issue, you may need to reach out to Oracle or one of the 3rd party consulting companies to get this resolved. Trying to figure this out over forum posts may not be the most effective way to fix this. -
Configure HFM environment with SSL
Hi all
I am in the middle of process to install HFM environment
For the first time I need to configure HFM environment with SSL
Before I started to install the HFM environment with SSL
I read the SSL CONFIGUATION GUIDE to understand what I need to configure
My environment based on web logic web server version Bea WebLogic_9.1_Express
As I started I read the part of information on configuring your web server for SSL
The next step was creating CA. The Company created for me CA ( file *.cer ) that I can continue with the issue, and this is what I do:
I configure the HSS for SSL Using a text editor, open Hub.properties. Create the following entry in Hub.properties. sslEnabled=true
And. Saved the file Hub.properties.
The next step was configure the HSS Server on WebLogic
I Log on to the Web Logic Administration Console.
Select Servers > Shared Services (admin).
From General tab, I select SSL Listen Port Enabled.
Specify the port (for example, 58082) on which Shared Services will listen for SSL communication
At last I Navigate to Keystore tab and set up the identity and trust keystore
And fill the parameters
At the end I restarted HSS services and Log on to User Management Console as Shared Services Administrator. Connect using the secure
URLhttps://<host>:<SSL-port>/interop; for example, https://myServer:58082/
interop.
The things doesn’t seems that they work, I don’t know how can I be sure that all the parameter's that I fill is right?
Nothing writes on Hyperion SSL PDF
The web logic doesn't notify any error, all I can is just to get to the standard port 58080
Thank
RenanHi Renan,
One thing to realize is you don't need to have Shared Services in SSL mode to have HFM in SSL mode.
The main reason you would want Shared Services in SSL mode was if IT/Info security mandated that your directory service (active directory, ldap, ...) be encrypted. If the corporate directory service is not encrypted you should skip making Shared Services encrypted which will simplify things some.
Also once you had gotten shared services up on 58082 you would need to unregister/register all the installs to use 58082 and check the SSL box on the Shared Services install.
Good Luck,
-John -
Implementing Clustering in HFM
Dear All,
I am trying to implement clustering in HFM.
When I am going into EPM system Configurator and select HFM - configure application clusterI am unable to see both the HFM servers that are available.
Only this server on which I am running the configuration utility is available.
Please suggest.
Thanks,
ParmodHi,
I am trying to create a cluster on two servers with same name ‘Cluster292’ and than adding the respective servers to it so that both the servers are registered under the same cluster.
I have 2 servers infva0292 and infva02899.
On infva0292 I have created a cluster Cluster0292 and registered it successfully with server infva0292.
On infva02899 I have created a cluster Cluster0292 and when I try to register it with server infva02899 it fails.
Please advise . Urgently help is required.
I wont mind any brainstorming

Batch automation of Taskflow in HFM.
Hi all,
I have created a taskflow to extract data out of HFM to oracle database. Now i need to put it part of a batch which will kick off after the completion of someother job. The HFM server is sitting on a windows box.
Just like we can kick off an essbase calc script using MAXL scripting and batch scripting, is there anything similar that we can use to kick of this taskflow in HFM.Not exactly sure what do you mean by "Hub". I did not find any such option in HFM Taskflows.
Also, how do you call the taskflow in batch, if you can, can you pls share the code. -
HFM can not authentificate MSAD users
Hello,
we have an issue on our HFM (9.2.0.3) server. We want to use externall authentification with MSAD. Shared service server is correctly configure for that an it works fine ( it works fine for our Workspace / BI+ server as well).
But, HFM is not able to performe the authentification. After login on hfm web client, you can select the hfm cluster, then select the hfm application and there you get an error :
Could not authenticate the specified user. %0
Show Details:
Error Number:-2147220966
Error Description:
Error Source:
Page On which Error Occurred:/hfm/OpenApp/AppOpen.asp
It works fine for native HFM user, so the issue seems to be related to SS and externall authentification.
Any idea on what's going wrong ?

10-16 12:01:05 DEBUG Authentication AuthenticateUser [EXIT]Hello again,
what I forgot to mentionned is that currently the HFM box can not connect to our AD server (because of firewall), only the SharedService box can connect.
Do you thing it could be the cause of my problem ?
Does the HFM server need to have direct access to External MSAD and not only SharedService ?
Thanks in advance for your help -
"An unknown error has occurred in the HsvDataSourceImpl object." - HFM App
Hi, their
I need help to solve HFM application’s related issue
Installed: - Database-Oracle 11g & EPM 11.1.1.3 (HSS, EPMA, HFM, Workspace, Reporting & Analysis)
Scenario: - I have created total 4 applications, 2 from Workspace (EPMA) classic application creation & 2 from Hyperion Financial Management Desktop. Applications created in Financial Management Desktop where upgraded to EPMA & registered all 4 of them to Shared Services through Workspace.
Remark: - Now I am able to view all 4 applications under “Application Group” (Financial Management) in Shared Service Console & provided all provisions regarding applications to default “admin” user.
Issue:-
From Shared Service Console –gives following error while accessing any one of 4 applications-“Error: Unable to connect to "Stat”, ensure that the application is up and running and the user has the appropriate rights to access this application”
From Workspace Console – gives following error while accessing any one of 4 application -
“An unknown error has occurred in the HsvDataSourceImpl object.
Error Code: -2147214848” –
